Caitriona prides herself in her values and her determination to keep them. Her stubborn commitment to peacekeeping has gotten her this far in life. The same goes with her commitment to her friends, family, and enjoying life. Cai has the makings of a strong leader but lacks the desire to take charge. Caitriona was born in the small village of Pencaitland, Scotland. She was the first and only child of Belladonna Amato. Yes, that Belladonna. The well-known lead singer from the 90s wizarding band Quaffle Kerfuffle had finally settled down in a sleepy town in central Scotland. It was not her first choice of residences but it was the location of her her husband's estate and, as a half-blood without a manor, she went along with it. Any manor was considered luxurious in the eyes of a woman who couldn't keep more than a few galleons in Gringotts before spending it all.

Alistair Dewine liked his privacy. That was the reason he chose his vine-covered manor in the middle of nowhere and also the reason he worked with the Department of Mysteries. He was the sort of of worker who enjoyed his work so much that he buried himself in it. Every second of his day was spent at his dark, dreary desk. It was rare that he would talk of anything else but it (and there wasn't much to talk of given that it was the Department of Mysteries. They were called Unspeakables for a reason.)

For a majority of Caitriona's childhood, it was rare that her father was in his much-cherished abode. It was usually occupied by Caitriona, her mother, and a few house staff who did the errands for the family. (As a half-breed Alistair had a soft spot for house elves and did not wish to employ any.) However, there were almost always a few sisters of Belladonna around. They brought their children with them and filled up guest rooms upon guest rooms until they got tired of the gloomy manor and went home to London or southern Italy respectively. Her mother's side of the family was extensive. There were grandparents, more aunts and uncles than she could keep straight, and plenty of cousins to keep her company. They considered the union between the often-too-social wizarding rockstar and a workaholic dhampir an odd combination.

And an odd combination Bella and Alistair were. Caitriona was aware of it as well (once she was old enough to notice.) Her mother said many things and her father said barely any at all. Both of them had an unusual taste in decor with her mother preferring the punk style and her father often choosing gothic fashions. Caitriona's outfits in her youth were unusual combinations of the two, usually in red or black, and never what her classmates were wearing.

Once she was old enough to pick out her own clothes, Caitriona chose the exact opposite and did the exact opposite. She craved "coolness" and to fit in with her peers. After all, that's how one makes friends, right?

Caitriona's schooling consisted of a myriad of group classes for young wizarding children. Cai was never the best student nor the worst. There were several subjects she enjoyed more than the rest like reading, writing, and flying. Nevertheless, she was never exceptional at any of them which was likely because she only put in the bare minimum amount of effort to be within the tutor's good graces.

Nevertheless, Caitriona was deemed ready for Hogwarts at the appropriate age of 11. Her parents received the news of the acceptance gladly, as they were both alumni of the school themselves. Soon enough, she was sent off on a train to Scotland.

Caitriona's first instance of magic was heavily anticipated. As the only child of two wizarding parents, magical abilities were expected. It was confirmed on the 7th of November, 2018 when she was 5 years old. For once, her father was home and his side of the family had all decided to visit at once, causing a large, pureblood-style banquet feast. In order to be polite she had been told to clear her whole plate. However, the casserole in front of her appeared to be made of tubeworms. Absolutely disgusting. (She had been told that it was eggplant but the preparation looked suspicious...)

Caitriona picked at the "tubeworms," as she looked around to see if anyone was watching her. The young girl took a deep breath as she brought her fork to meet her lips. Just as she was about to take a bite, the eggplant worm slipped off of her fork and began to slither towards the center of the table. Her grandmother let out an ear-splitting shriek as Caitriona's dinner came alive and began to spread.

The worms detransformed as quickly as they had awakened and clumps of eggplant casserole covered the entire tablecloth. The entire table had their eyes on the 5-year-old girl. It looked like Caitriona would be in trouble...
