Alyssea didn't expect to come back up to the Duelling Club soon after that duel. Yes, some people would actually come in and continue their winning streak, but not Alyssea. She was happy to retire and come up whenever she needed the space, not to prove her worth or something. However, if someone needed a moderator, the speed at which Alyssea's hand would shoot up was astronomical. She would never pass up the opportunity to moderate a sport—barring Quidditch considering she still wasn't familiar with the mechanics that much.
Considering Prat was now fighting against someone of a similar age group as him, she came in with no expectations. Either one of them could win; there was no use betting on it if their skillset was similar.
As she stood at the center of the border, Alyssea cleared her throat. "You guys probably already know how duelling works. Shoot spells and try not to hit me in the process. If you're knocked out or get too exhausted, we'll take you to the Hospital Wing on the floor below. Easy enough, right?"
Alyssea raised a thumbs-up to the sky and brought it down like a track referee waving a flag, signalling the beginning of the match.

It hasn't been a complete week since Prat's previous duel. That visit to the hospital wing had healed whatever bruises he acquired from his duel with the badgerette. Physical ones atleast, the ego remained as bruised as the day he missed all the spells. Spending time waiting to get fixed up felt like eons to Prat as he anxiously awaited to get back to the stage.
For his sake, the day came sooner as he now found himself in a duel with a fellow snake called Ernest Baird. He was a pure blood, if pure bloods were short, green and had ears more pointed than a quill. On first glance Ernest looked like the three way love child of Shrek, Legolas and Mario. For his sake as well as Ernest's, Prat hoped he wouldn't go "It's a me Ernest!" if he ended up landing a hit on Prat.
Prat however was not going to waste another chance this time, the idea of taking his opponent for granted or to even consider him weaker, did not come to his mind like any of his previous duels. Specially the recent one which landed him in the hands of the very trusted nurse. The hospital wing was no place for a someone like Prat. Looking at Ernest, in some other instance he would have graced the snake a smile, but seeing Alyssea moderating their duel brought out sour memories of the very same place. Not that he had a problem with her defeating him, it was just his need to be instantly perfect at something and if failed, He would spare no lengths to over correct it and get over the wall. Only fear Prat had about this duel was Ernest genuinely biting his ankles or being a knee sniffer.
Nodding to both the badger Supreme and the snake, Prat was ready for his duel.

A Viper Showdown
Being in the dueling club room was starting to become more and more comfortable for Ernest, his presence in the room a weekly thing instead of every once in a while like it was last year. Ernest had agreed to start practicing and dueling with the others on the vipers’ team, something about knowing how each other fight so they can be a stronger team. He hoped this worked, or it was just another way he was going to end up on his arse at this school.
Ernest hadn’t really dueled that much yet, not anything more than trying by someone else. Throwing spells by someone was nothing compared to throwing spells by another human being. The goblin walked to the center of the room in front of Prat with a level gaze. He looked over the boy, taking in his appearance in silence. He was taller than the part goblin but didn’t have the same build as him. Ernest figured he had a good couple of pounds on the other.
The shorter boy twirled his wand in his fingers, as he thought of how he’d approach the other. It was just practice, so he shouldn’t be too rough, he figured. He widened his stance, the grip on his wand firm, his first spell already in his mind. With that, he nodded at both the other boy and Alyssea.

Not bad, she thought as they pulled up with their next spells. Considering she retired from the duelling scene, it felt wrong to give her opinion about what was the best spell or not for an opening. Not that the boys would probably value her opinion, anyway, so she kept her mouth shut. That Knockback Jinx was definitely not a bad way to start out the match considering it hit its mark.
Green sparks... That was Prat's signature opening now, wasn't it? Just like how the tickling or dancing feet spell was Alyssea's signature. Alyssea turned away for a brief moment just so she wouldn't go blind herself. She remembered the one time she chose to cast the sparks on a whim, out of desperation in the hopes she could hit at least once. It hit and Alyssea could say "at least I didn't give up."
The Knockback Jinx didn't hit hard enough to knock Prat out, which was a good and bad thing depending on who you were in this duel. Prat may be fighting to survive on the inside; Ernest might be frustrated considering now they'd gone blind. Alyssea figured it was a good thing as the moderator. Wouldn't be fun to just end a duel in one hit now, would it?

The duel started and Ernest came out blazing, before he even had a chance to evade Ernest cast Flipendo on Prat, sending him flying away. Wasn't his first time dealing with the spell, he had experienced the tumble a week prior.
However Ernest's spell was not strong enough to render him down. Sure it hit and made an effect, it was not as hard as fainting, he could still manage to get himself up and ready his wand for the next round, coincidentally, He had successfully cast Green sparks this time, could almost be considered his signature move seeing how many times he had used it in his duels. It was a perfect spell to render your opponent blind and prevent damage for a whole round as you prepare a strategy to see things to end. Fortunately what Prat cast hit Ernest, woohoo 2 for 2 for Prat in this round.
A successful cast and a hit? Prat was already doing better than what he had hoped for with his previous experience with the spell. Seeing Ernest blinded, he knew he has to finish this duel fast and not waste time, one of them was still in pristine health condition and it wasn't him.

Ernest wanted to start strong; put the other on their ass quickly. A nice hex to start, get him hurting and tired; give Ernest the upper hand, maybe. Ernest barely had time to smile when his spell hit, though, because as his spell was flying at Prat, Prat’s spell was lighting up.
Green sparks seemed like such a stupid spell to use in dueling when he was learning it, but now as Ernest stumbled back blind, he realized it wasn't as stupid as he thought. He clenched his jaw and blinked a bit, trying to get rid of the spots in his vision. “Really, my bloody eyes?” He hissed out.
He didn't think he'd be able to cast anything like this; not without the risk of hitting the wrong body. He figured he wouldn't be winning any games if he casted a hex and it hit the referee instead.
He stepped back up, once, to where he had been; debating his next move. He honestly didn't have a clue what he trusted to do, not while he was blind. He got back into a dueling stance though, listening closely to Prat's next move. He didn't want to risk being blind and on his back.

Alyssea was ready to scream, pull out her hair, stomp on the spot as if she were ten-years-old again. Gods, this was frustrating. Not because Prat or Ernest had done anything wrong. Far from it. They were doing exactly what they were supposed to; flinging spells and dodging if they felt it necessary. She hadn't been hit by anything yet so she was good on that account. To any unassuming outsider, this was just the way duels went sometimes.
Why she felt the need to scream, and pull out her hair, and stomp was because this had become such a pattern for her; time and time again, she moderated duels. Time and time again, the second round was always the quietest one with nothing hitting its mark. Of course, Alyssea couldn't fault Ernest for actively dodging considering they'd gone temporarily blind earlier. And she couldn't fault Prat either for taking the chance to throw a spell. Luck just wasn't on Prat's side. It wasn't like this was the fifth round of spells, either; that duel against Colin and Dan had become such a bore with how evasive the two of them were.
Alyssea took a deep breath and the need to scream dissipated just as quickly. They would throw spells at each other again next round and they would hit. She was sure of it. If not next round, then at least the round after that.

Shooting off that spell, Prat had an inkling Ernest would attempt to actively dodge, this was a common tactic traced through multiples duels now. Going for a damaging or debuff spell in round one only to dodge in the second.
Still Prat decided to take the chance and shot off a flipendo in his direction. It did not him, however seeing Ernest hopping around trying to dodge the spell felt brought back memories of Prat's days at his aunt's place, playing this muggle game called Mario for hours upon hours. Similar to how mario dodged fire, Ernest dodged his flipendo.
*sigh*..another spell wasted, at least the sight was a good payoff. However, it was not the end of the duel yet. Another round was coming and Ernest could just come out throwing at Prat if he wanted to, Prat could do something too.
Too many things now ran through Prat's head as he contemplated what the immediate future of the duel might be. Seeing Ernest Prepare for again, Prat before even noticing had his wand in hand gripped tightly, ready to answer back in equal capacity whatever Ernest was about to send his way.
He was not going to infirmary a second time without landing any hits.

Even though he was putting a lot on his ears he managed to dodge and keep himself from being injured or inconvenienced in any way. He also heard the other boy use the same spell he had just hit him with, the goblin laughing as it didn’t hit.
“Hey, if you’re going to be copying me, at least be good at using the spell!” He said as his vision started to clear, the other boy still looked disheveled from his own spell in the first round, and Ernest figured even if he didn’t fall from it, the spell sure did pack a punch. He also felt sorry for the boy.
He knew that dodging was probably boring after spending something so good earlier, but now that he could see, he was going to have so much fun with this. He had so many ideas in his head. Maybe an incendio? A Mucus ad Nauseam? Maybe he will return the favor with a green spark charm?
He smiled as he stepped closer, but made sure to stay within the distance he was required. He knew he’d have to put everything into this next spell, because he could only get lucky so much in a duel.

Alyssea preferred to stay out of taunting and whatever. The duelling piste was for focus, not chit-chat. There were times she did talk while duelling, mostly to give her team a pat on the back for a job well done or to yell (Clark, specifically), though that was rare. Taunting wasn't very sportsmanlike even if it was allowed. She wouldn't stop these kids, though; they were Slytherins, were they not? It wouldn't be wise to get in the way of ambition leading actions.
With the next firing of spells (or, well, singular spell), Alyssea grimaced. Okay, this was getting a bit sad to watch. Alyssea hadn't watched Prat duel enough to figure out if this was a pattern or just a coincidence. Prat had struggled to hit her when they duelled last week and, now, he was having difficulty getting a damaging spell in.
Alyssea could applaud Ernest's spell choice, though. But again, she doubted they would appreciate her advice. She watched as Prat doubled down, clutching his stomach from the distraction that was being tickled to near-death.
She cleared her throat. "If you're tired, we can always call it quits early." As soon as the words left her mouth, she winced. Prat would think she was pitying him which, okay, he wouldn't be entirely wrong. But it also wasn't bad to forfeit if things just kept going downhill. Plus, better for her to say it out loud than for someone to accuse her of watching kids duel to unconsciousness without telling them they could quit.
