Beaux Jour (Beautiful Day)

Camille opened her eyes and exhaled peacefully. She was sitting on the ground, overlooking the lake's shimmering waters. She reached back and touched her hair, feeling the braid underneath her fingers. A sad smile dawned on her face as, once again, her heart panged with homesickness and longing for her family. She missed them, and she wished more than anything that her little sister, Emma, could be here. She knew the girl would love everything Hogwarts had to offer.
Her mind shifted from thoughts of home to thoughts of her surroundings. The pale blue sky was streaked with thin white and gray clouds that gave just enough coverage of the sun that the young Slytherin could look at it for a few seconds to observe the way it illuminated the edges of the clouds. There was even a slight breeze drifting through the air. Perfect flying weather, she thought happily. Whenever Professor Jensen announced the Quidditch tryouts, Camille would be one of the first to sign up. She loved the feeling flying gave her. The rush of adrenaline she couldn't find anywhere in the Muggle world.
Once again, her mind was wandering. That was the type of girl Camille was: a bit floaty and often thinking. Sometimes she could be a bit absentminded, but she made up for in loyalty and kindness. Camille closed her eyes and began to hum.

Beaux Jour (Beautiful Day)
Sylvie walked down to the lake again to her favorite spot. The greens glowed with the sunlight bouncing off them, and the lake sparkled, as beautiful as it always was. She still found it weird to not see the grass covered in snow like it was in the winter. She didn’t know if she liked it more or less, since even thought it was very cold out it was also very pretty.
Sylvie pulled a picnic blanket out of her messenger bag and laid it down on the ground under the tree. The picnic blanket was burgundy with dark green patches along it. She sat down on the blanket, laying back and closing her eyes. She was wearing a t-shirt hoodie and some jean shorts. Crystal, her little sister, had sent many outfits for her to where. She was much more fashionable that Sylvie was, and she didn’t want Crystal to be upset that she didn’t wear them so she begrudgingly did. Sylvie secretly liked the outfits that Crystal choose for her, but she wasn’t about to tell Crystal that.
The sky was blue and white clouds were scattered across the sky. Sylvie looked to the side and saw another girl not that far away from where she was. The girl was looking at the sky, and was closing her eyes. Sylvie could hear the faint sound of humming coming from her direction. She laid on her side facing the girl, smiling and listening to the sound of her humming.

Beaux Jour (Beautiful Day)
Sylvie stayed silent, listening to the sound of the other girls voice as the humming turned to singing. She didn't really recognize the song the girl was singing. It seemed like the song was special for the girl. Sylvie had heard many songs that had felt special to her for an array of reasons. She would listen to them on repeat or sing them all the time just so she could feel what she felt every time she heard the song. When she did listen to songs that made her do this, she would smile to herself, and zone out, not paying attention to anything or anyone else. Sylvie closed her eyes still smiling, letting only the sound of the girl's voice remain.
After the song had finished Sylvie sighed. 'Well, that was a nice song. I should find out who wrote it. Maybe it was her or some other singer.' She opened her eyes to see the girl looking her way, mouth opened wide. 'Well shoot, looks like she didn't want anyone to be listening! Should I approach her?!?! Should I stay here?!?! Should I run-no way, that would make me look like an even bigger creep!!!' Sylvie sat up, digging my nails into my arms, thinking hard. 'J-just approach her... yeah, but don't act like a weirdo.'
She stood up and walked over to the girl, trying to think of something to say. When she'd reached the girl she just said, "h-hello.... that was a nice song. Did you write it?"
