Madhup Hexum - Durmstrang - Seventh Year - Half-Blood
A scrappy muggle-raised wizard more prone to feats of strength than magic. He stands at 5'5" with a muscular frame, meticulously coifed waves, and eyes a blend of gunmetal and green. A notorious thrill seeker and clout chaser, Mad is fond of flashy uniforms and shiny accessories. His hobbies revolve around flying, contact sports, any game with bets on the table, outdated muggle tech, and dating a certain Hogwarts girl. He secretly likes carving things from wood and borrowing Johannes' guyliner without asking. fc: Avan Jogia (References)

ESFP-A (Entertainer) - Extraverted, Observant, Feeling, Prospecting, Assertive
Entertainers get caught up in the excitement of the moment and want everyone else to feel that way too. No other type is as generous with their time and energy when it comes to encouraging others, and no other type does it with such irresistible style. However, it is not their love for being the center of attention that drives this sense of confidence but their knack for sensing what’s appropriate in certain situations. ESFPs truly enjoy the simplest things, and there’s no greater joy for them than just having fun with a good group of friends. This personality type usually loves a little drama and passion, but not so much when they are the focus of the criticisms it can bring.

While Madhup is an underperformer in written studies, his value of communication makes him a surprisingly competent linguist. His first language is Hindi which he speaks in an informal register: casual, pocked with slang, almost juvenile as he hasn't utilized it much since leaving New Delhi. He understands fluent Russian thanks to his school peers, and rudimentary Swedish as it's his guardian's first language. English is his weakest language. He can articulate himself well and share complex dialogues, but knows only simple or common words and terms. He speaks it by the book while rarely utilizing contractions. Since meeting a British witch in the summer of '24, he's been studying to improve this.

History:
Madhup swaggers about as if he is the prince of Durmstrang, but the truth of his origins could not be humbler. Unknowingly born a half-blood, he was raised by his father in India, a downtrodden muggle of a man. His primary profession was construction, though he was an independent laborer without the security of a company to uphold him. From a young age, Madhup followed his father to work, aiding with small tasks such as sweeping an area or digging for foundations, ditches, and pipe trenches. He was raised blissfully ignorant of the fact that his mother was a witch, for his father claimed to be "too pained" to speak of her in any capacity. He would take her true fate to his grave.

Madhup spent months dodging the shoddy infrastructure of orphanages, instead running with a pack of other homeless children, living on dark and dangerous streets. They narrowly evaded those who would make leashed thieves of them, surviving on scraps often stolen from the market. He could not explain the occasional oddity that occurred around him, such as an angry merchant's switch falling flaccid when he tried to strike Madhup for pinching a sweet. These mysteries were forcibly overlooked until he was approached by a witch on his ninth birthday.

Naturally, it was difficult for a street child to believe he belonged to a world of magic. Yet the "tricks" this witchy woman showed him were too elaborate to be unreal, too fantastical, too tantalizing. As soon as Madhup was told this power could be his, he complied. Unable to rear children of her own, the Scandinavian witch, Thekla Hexum, took a particular interest in magical orphans. Madhup was legally adopted alongside a young witch from Italy (Leira) and an even younger wizard from Sweden (Felix). The three developed a healthy kind of competition. Felix was driven to become a healer, Leira strove to be a dangerous duellist, whereas Madhup endeavored to be "the greatest at all things", more often boasting about how he would surpass them rather than actually studying. Thekla secured his enrollment at Durmstrang, where the boy devoted himself to the path of Martial Magic.
"Tragedy blows through your life like a tornado, uprooting everything, creating chaos. You wait for the dust to settle, and then you choose. You can live in the wreckage and pretend it's still the mansion you remember. Or you can crawl from the rubble and slowly rebuild. Because after disaster strikes, the important thing is that you move on. But if you're like me, you just keep chasing the storm." - Veronica Mars

Background inspo + context pulled from these sections of HiO Durmstrang Lore
Nerida was orphaned at an early age... given to an orphanage in her birth city. Originally Nerida intended Durmstrang to foster the children of the poor and young orphaned girls like herself who had no family to take care of them.
At the beginning of each new school year ... students embark on what is commonly called a “survival training” ... one week, in which the students will get to know and learn to survive in the sometimes hostile forests, lakes and mountains surrounding Durmstrang.
Tradition has it that the most successful students occupy those rooms at the top of their tower, while the least competent or the youngest live on the lowest floors.
Durmstrang favors those students who show dedication and ambition in their studies. The unmotivated or lazy are looked down at, and the students held in the highest regard ... are those who show the most prowess in their education.
Nobody at Durmstrang Institute wants to be exposed to nonmagi. They are dangerous, an unpredictable, self-destructive force that would destroy wizardkind as they destroy themselves... Nonmagi are not welcome here, nor are their children.
There is one exception made, however, in the name of power, of inheritance and the wish to keep magic strong: any magical person born to nonmagi may be accepted to Durmstrang if they are vouched for by one of their own, a witch or a wizard in good standing. They may sponsor one born to muggles, on the condition that those children relinquish their families and leave behind all ties to the non-magical world.
After they passed their 5th year they have the choice between either continuing their education for another 3 years at Durmstrang or leaving the school... The last 3 years of high school at Durmstrang differ from the first 5... Having picked 1 of the 2 main subjects all students will have one main teacher who will supervise them and provide a general education in the following years, one each for the Dark Art and the combat magic class respectively.... a student who chose combat magic might have a special talent for hand-to-hand combat and get additional training in how to use their magic to aid them while fighting or learn techniques to enhance their abilities. Combat Magic, also called Martial Magic, focuses on those kinds of magic that can be used offensively and defensively as well as all subjects related to either. This includes training of strength, agility, and endurance.
