Magical Drafts and Potions
Private with @Noah Page. Feel free to read, but please do not reply !
Saturday morning, 7 o'clock. Charlotte opened up her eyes with great difficulty, dreading the moment she was gonna have to leave her warm, soft bed. She groaned as she slid her right foot out of her blanket and onto the cold, wooden floor rapidly followed by her left foot. She rubbed her eyes and stretched her arms above her head and finally stood up.
She glanced around the room, seeing that all her flatmates were still fast asleep and got her clothes out of her trunk. Charlotte stared blankly at them for a few seconds before taking a deep breath.
She pushed the door gently with the tip of her finger and slid out into the common room. Everything was so calm, and in a few hours time, the usual morning commotion would start. She smiled, feeling extremely calm and relaxed. She untied her braids rapidly, brushing her fingers through her hair before grabbing her bag, plopped by the couch on the left of the chimney and hurried out into the empty corridor.
She passed through many corridors and finally arrived in front of the library's tall, wooden doors.
After a gentle push, the doors opened by themselves and Charlotte walked slowly inside, knowing exactly what she was looking for.
She wandered through the many rows of books until she saw, a few rows ahead 'School Books Section'.
She strode towards it, setting her bag on the first table she saw before hurrying to have a look at the books. Her hand was hovering above the books, checking each and every one of them.
'Where is this damn book?' she whispered to herself, starting to feel slightly annoyed. She sighed, biting her lip. She heard footsteps behind but didn't seem to really care, too irritated.
Suddenly, her eyes opened wide as she spotted the book she had been looking for. She took it gently, held it in her hands in front of her, and read 'Magical Drafts and Potions'.
'There you are' she said, a faint smile on her face.

Magical Drafts and Potions
Noah's morning had not been too kind to him. He woke up feeling rather well rested since he always went to sleep early but he had a headache and Noah hated headaches. They were common for him and he was rather used to it but it still felt terrible waking up with one.
Sitting and burying his face in his hands, he tried to think of what to do next, he could go back to sleep but he felt like he had to do something. It took Noah a few seconds to remember it but once he got it, his eyes widened, he had to hurry.
Noah knew he was probably not going to be too good at potions but he was already struggling to keep up with the professor and the term wasn't even that far yet, this meant it could seriously damage his grades if he didn't pay special attention to Potions. And so he had gone to Madam Pince the day before asking her if she had any copies of Magical Drafts and Potions left, "Only one." she had said. Noah didn't plan on studying overnight since he hated getting incomplete sleep so he simply told her he decided to come early the next morning to get the book before anyone else could.
And so he quickly got ready for the day, everyone else was asleep and the sun had barely risen, Noah didn't even consider that someone else would be in the library looking for the same book as him.
He walked towards the library, watching the sun rising higher through the windows. Noah couldn't help but love Hogwarts, it was simply too beautiful for him, he planned on just exploring castle when he had the time to.
He entered the library, sighing in relief, there weren't many people in the library yet. He casually strolled over to the shelves, searching for the book. He should have looked at where they were yesterday, he hated how lazy he could be at times.
Noah was getting more and more concerned as he realized the book wasn't there. This would easily be a waste of time he could've spent learning if he didn't find the book. He had even finished off everything from his other subjects, having left Potions for later. He was going through all the books as quickly as he could, not really paying attention to where he was going, too focused on reading the titles of the book. He accidentally bumped into someone and mentally cursed himself, why was he panicking over this, he was getting carried away searching for the book. He turned to the person he had bumped into and said, "My apologies, I should have paid more attention to my surroundings."

Magical Drafts and Potions
Charlotte gasped, as she was pushed to the side. She looked up, only to see Slytherin student, standing right were she stood moments ago. She was slightly annoyed but saw from the expression on the boy's face he really didn't mean to.
"My apologies, I should have paid more attention to my surroundings."
She looked up, a friendly smile on her face. The boy seemed to be around her age, was a little taller than her.
'Oh, it's - it's fine. Don't worry'
Why would someone else be here this early? It was the start of the week-end and most student waited impatiently for this day to come to able to get a bit more sleep. It's fine, she thought to herself.
The book in hand, she walked towards her table where her bag waited patiently. She sat down and opened the book, flipping rapidly through the pages, looking for the chapter she needed to study. Her notebook open and her quill in hand, she started writing but rapidly stopped. Something was bothering her, and she knew exactly what. The boy had been there for the past five minutes, looking over and over again at the same row of books. Perhaps she ought to help him ? She hesitated for a few seconds, wondering if she should just let him be... He could just ask Madame Pince if he really couldn't find the book, right ? Madame Pince wasn't the friendliest and approachable person, that she knew.
Charlotte stood up, walked towards him before tapping his shoulder gently.
'Can I help you? What book are you looking for?' she whispered, a friendly tone in her voice as she tucked her hair behind her ear.

Magical Drafts and Potions
Noah noticed the person happened to a girl from Hufflepuff, Noah's parents had told him about the houses and what to expect from most people from different houses, so he knew he wasn't going to need to argue with the girl, and he didn't, her expression softened after he apologized, 'Oh, it's - it's fine. Don't worry,'
Noah nodded and was about to go back to searching for his book but that's when he noticed that the girl had a copy of Magical Drafts and Potions in her hand, she had taken the book he was here for.
Noah mentally sighed, but that couldn't be it, there must've been another copy somewhere, maybe someone had come later and submitted a copy they had borrowed or something. He decided that there was a possibility and started searching, choosing to ignore the girl who had the book he needed, she needed it as much as he did probably. She was there early and got the book before him so he couldn't really tell her to give him the book while she needed it as well.
He kept searching, starting over and over again, maybe he had missed something. But some time later, he was going through the books and was beginning to remember the books, the book wasn't there, he was about to give up, maybe he could wait till someone returned their copy of the book.
But just then someone tapped his shoulder.
He turned around to be face to face with the same girl he had bumped into earlier, he tried to forget the fact that she was here and had the book he wanted but he didn't want to bother her.
'Can I help you? What book are you looking for?' She whispered. Noah thought about it, maybe he could tell her to give it to him later or something? "Magical drafts and potions, don't think there are any more copies left, though." He said, making sure not to include the fact that he already knew she had a copy with her. It would be awkward to try and explain to her why he hadn't asked her earlier if he knew she had the book all along so he decided to hide it instead.

Magical Drafts and Potions
"Magical drafts and potions, don't think there are any more copies left, though."
Oh.
Great.
Well, she couldn't just lie to him and tell him she couldn't help him. She took a second to gather her thoughts. She probably couldn't just tell him that she was using it and leave him like that. He probably needed it as much as she did to come this early in the libraryHer eyes darted between her book and the boy. She let out a sigh before whispering once more.
'I - I have the last one... Sorry', biting her lip as she always did.
Well that wasn't going to do it. She felt bad for him, but didn't really know what to do. The boy didn't seem that talkative or the type of guy to work in groups, but she didn't see another way to make this work out. She hesitated a few seconds, looking around her in the very unlikely event she would spot another copy of it misplaced in the rows surrounding them.
'If you want to, you can join me on the table over there' she said pointing out where she sat a few moments ago, her notebook, quill and ink lay neatly placed around the book 'Magical Drafts and Potions'. She turned back to face him, wondering what his answer was going to be.

'I - I have the last one... Sorry.'
But Noah already knew that. He was wondering how he was going to reply to that and not make the Hufflepuff hand the book over to him out of pity or anything, his parents said Hufflepuffs had a knack for being kind and he had no intentions of taking the book from her until she was done.
"That's alright, I'll wait till someone else submits their copy back." He said, ready to go to the great hall of wait in the library for a bit. Maybe she would be done soon too? He was waiting to walk off but she seemed to still not be done so he waited for her to say something.
'If you want to, you can join me on the table over there.'
Noah wasn't exactly sure how to respond to that. It was better than her giving the book over to him, but then he'd have to study with her, he wasn't sure if that was a good idea, "I can wait till you're done." That was probably good enough, he had no intentions of studying with anyone, it would waste a lot of his time that he could've covered up if he was studying by himself. He hadn't exactly tried working in groups before but he could almost imagine how it would go, having proper focus would be much better than having to listen to someone every now and then.

"I can wait till you're done."
'As you wish' she whispered gently.
Charlotte looked at him, her eyebrows raised as if to ask him if that was his last answer, tucking her hair nervously behind her ear. He seemed pretty confident about this so Charlotte shrugged slightly, a small smile on her face, before returning to the table she was sitting at.
Her quill in hand, she opened her book, flipping the pages gently. She started writing, but couldn't help but glance at the boy, wondering why didn't want to study with her. Would it waste time? Probably, but in the end they'd know their subject by heart. Maybe he just wasn't comfortable around people, or just hated studying in group. Whatever his reasons was, he was going to have to wait a while before she could hand him the book.
In a few seconds, the sound of the quill scratching the paper had lulled her into a deep focus, unable to hear anything that was happening around her. She didn't really enjoy potions, nor was she the best, but she tried her best. It seemed quite fascinating and she couldn't wait to learn more.

'As you wish." she said, to Noah's relief. He wondered what to do next, he could go back to his dorm and get some sleep but he had to wake up soon for breakfast and the walk there would waste time too.
He sat down on a bench opposite to the girl, taking his bag off his shoulders. He hadn't really thought about what he would do if the book wasn't there so naturally, his bag was empty except for what he needed for Potions and his quill. That wasn't going to do him much good till he had the textbook.
For some time, Noah just stood there awkwardly, staring out of the window trying to find something interesting outside, normally, Noah enjoyed doing that. But somehow now that he actually had the time for it, it didn't' feel as much fun anymore.
After the sun has finally risen completely, Noah decided that staring outside was way too boring and he had to find something better to do. He looked back into the library, the girl was still busy studying, probably not going to be done anytime soon. He then looked around the library.
The library.
He was sitting among hundreds of books and thought he had nothing to do, he felt like jumping out of the window. He stood up, walking around the library to try and find something to read. Maybe something that could give him more information on topics related to studies or something new to learn or maybe just a good story.
A few minutes later, he came back with a book about wands. He wasn't interested in the book all that much but it was the first thing he found that wasn't entirely pointless.
He sat down on the bench again and started reading the book, it wasn't too big but it was hopefully enough.

The boy sat down with a book in his hands and Charlotte wondered if he really was going to wait here until she was finished to have the book. Maybe someone would bring back a copy later? Maybe it was a good thing she got here first, or she would've been sitting where the young boy sat. Or would he have accepted her company? Probably not...
Why did the boy not have his own copy of the book? Did he lend it to someone too? Or did he just not buy it? Charlotte guessed he lended it.
The chapter she was working on seemed quite simple for the moment and made her feel confident for their upcoming homework. She had struggled in potions before, but not this time. Perhaps she could even end up being good at it someday.
The homework she was working on seemed rather simple and clear. She sighed as she flipped through the pages, hoping she was marking down the right information and made her explanations properly.
Time seemed to passed so slowly when she was doing her homework and then all of a sudden, time slips by giving you no time to do anything. As of right now, she felt quite confident about her work, hearing the slow ticking of her watch lulling her slightly.

Magical Drafts and Potions
Noah kept looking up from his book every now and then, to see if the girl was done. It wasn't like the book was boring, it was pretty interesting but not good enough to distract him from his thoughts about being bad at potions.
The worst part was that Noah had lost his copy of the book. And Noah was always organised and doing something like that was almost insulting for him. He sighed, if only they had taught them accio, he could've called the book to him from wherever it was. Till then he could go around the castle and see if he kept it somewhere and forgot about it.
But he also had to study, of all the books he could've lost, it was the Potions book. He hated Potions but it was threatening his aim for good scores in school.
How was he even going to get all of it done? Potions was simply not his thing, theory was the part that was easier for him and it was still far from being good enough for him to get good grades. Actually making potions and getting the ingredients for them as homework was an entirely different matter, forunately they weren't said to get ingredients for homework yet but he knew those were coming eventually.
