Fake It Till You Make It
Jenni was never a fan of ballrooms. In fact, she hated ballroom dancing. Regular dancing on the other hand... she loved it. The muggle school dances she went to as a child wasn't even that bad. Jen had a few friends and she hated to say it, but she sometimes went crazy. Yea. Seems like Jen? Students who knew her as a classmate could hardly imagine Jen taking a dance class. Or even visiting a ballroom. But this particular weekend was different. Jen's friends were 'busy' and she was all alone. The Gryffindor common room was so stuffy, and she felt agitated when in the common room. So, the young witch decided to roam the castle... and somehow she made it here. To the ballroom. Very strange indeed.
Jen had her books in hand, and she wanted to study and do her homework. The library seemed like a great place, however she felt as if she didn't belong there. Eh, it was full of smart kids, and she wasn't smart. So, she walked around the noisy halls until she came across the most quiet and undisturbed room possible. The ballroom. Nobody at the school seemed to enjoy dancing... so it was just her. Sadly. But it also meant she got to stay in the most quiet room possible! And it even was cleaned... no dust, no dirt, just flawless tiles. It was perfect.
As Jenni closed the door behind her when she walked into the ballroom, she smiled in awe. Looking around the room, she immediately thought to herself, *this is beautiful*. It was huge, made to perfection, and it was definitely what you would call elegant. Perfect for Jen. Perhaps Hogwarts would change her thought on ballrooms and ballroom dancing. The day was just going perfect for Jen. She was also in such a good mood, it seemed as if nothing would ruin her day.

Fake It Till You Make It
How could that day be anything less than perfect. The sun was shining and hitting the windows of her dorm room making the rays of the sun hit just perfectly into a gorgeous prism that made the common room light up like as if heaven had descended upon earth. It was summer and that meant that the weather was just right making it so much more appealing to possibly explore and see what else was out there. Typically, each of the students, and the first years especially were all expected to be in stuffy classrooms or the library which would have been great if she could have concentrated in either but nope. There was always some amounts of distraction which seemed to be pulling the young Hufflepuff from her studies and she couldn't seem to want to bother even going to any of those places.
Honestly, what she needed was a break from it all. It was summer for god's sake and she wanted no part in picking up a book unless it was a good piece of fiction to curl up and read. Unless the countless wizards in their history were suddenly growing extra heads or there was a murder mystery to be solved, she was rather uninterested. Flinging her books across her bed, she gave up and found something comfortable to wear as she chose to find an adventure of her own.
Sticking her wand in her leggings pocket, she tied her hair into a high ponytail and then bounded out of her room and down all the steps of the common rooms before pushing the common room door open and letting it close behind her with a "BANG". Grinning at the commotion she was creating, she ran quickly down the stairs peeking at each level to see if there was anything worth exploring. Several students lined the floors doing something or another and she waved at a few familiar faces here and there. She had way too much energy and was moving rather fast not exactly paying attention or looking for anything in particular. And well... that was bound to get her in some amounts of trouble. Such as when she had been talking to someone and walking backwards and then all she felt was a thud before she had landed straight onto her butt. Looking up, she saw a person who had been carrying a rather large pile of dusty books. Before she could say anything, a puff of this dust came into her face and she sneezed before smiling innocently at the person, apologized profusely and grabbed the stack of books that had fallen over and handed it to them before she could have been caught for her actions.
Akilah was nothing if not a mess and a ball full of lots of energy which was both good and bad in these kinds of situations. Consequences were the last things she thought of and though she wasn't specifically a rule breaker, she somewhat disregarded them... or well loosely followed them as she liked to tell herself. It usually resulted in some consequences, that was, if she was caught. Most of the time, she used that aura of innocence she held and since people assumed she had it, they usually didn't blink or think twice at her actions. It was truly no fault of her own.
Moving through the hallways after evading that situation, she ended up on the fourth floor and after a few seconds, she realized she hadn't been down there for much more than a few minutes if even that. She saw a hallway that was lined with several shut doors and her curiosity peaked as she wondered what in the world could be hidden behind them. The idea of something dangerous or something restricted excited her disregarding the fact of how it could be dangerous. With a smirk, she pushed a door open all excited for something menacing and instead she came face to face with what seemed to be a ballroom or something. Since when did Hogwarts have a freaking ballroom? She thought that the Great Hall was always used for such grand purposes but then again, she hadn't really been paying attention much it seemed.
Her eyes wandered here and there as she took in the sight before her and she was in awe of the new room as well as how it appeared. For a rather empty and seemingly unused room, it was pretty spick and span which was nice. Just as she had thought there was nothing else to look at and she had been turning to leave, her eyes caught hold of something else and she turned back to see what that was. She saw the back of what appeared to be a person and then she quickly peeked in the hall to make sure no one was watching or looking for her before she ducked into the room. Smirking innocently, she moved quietly which was unusual for the louder young female, until she was standing almost behind the other girl. "HEY THERE!", she said in a loud voice hoping to catch her attention and she grinned happily. This was going to be very interesting... or so she anticipated.

Fake It Till You Make It
Jenni hummed as she flipped through her book, and she'd had to say... it was quite interesting. She hated reading books, and yet this one was somewhat interesting. Eh, better than completely hating all her books, right? She continued to read before drifting off into her imagination...
Her brother would attend Hogwarts... she wouldn't have to be lonely. Even better, she could have a study partner - even though they were in different grades. But who wouldn't say her brother would turn out to be one of those kids who were rude? The kid who didn't care about other peoples' feelings?
Shuddering at the thoughts, she realized how sad she was. Jen waited so long to attend Hogwarts, and yet nothing changed. She was sad at the muggle school. And yet she was still sad. There was something wrong with her. Was it because she didn't have any friends? She had no study partner? Or was it really because she didn't have her brother to keep her company? It seemed like a good reason.
Jen was lonely. She wanted a friend. A true friend. A person that would hang out with her, a person who would make her laugh, and someone who would accompany her as she explored the castle and beyond. Despite her desire for her brother to be her best friend, she knew it wasn't going to be possible. Jen would have to make friends at this miserable school.
One of the things Jen hated was making friends. She always feared how other people were going to see her as. How they would react to the dumb and the occasional smart things she would day. So far, she didn't have the best experience with making friends. But she always remembered what her dad said... don't worry about things other people would say about you. If you're to make friends, be yourself. True friends would like who you are.
Her dad's words were always so wise. And yet Jen never listened. She was too afraid. And just when she was thinking about loneliness, the most strangest thing happened. A person yelled "HEY THERE!"
Standing up abruptly, she turned around and saw a girl she somewhat recognized. And without thinking, Jen felt her face turn red. Somewhat angry, Jen yelled, "What's your problem?" Normally, she wouldn't yell. Jen didn't want her day to go bad... and yet it just did.
