Sometimes even someone as loud and boisterous as Remy Alto needed a time for quiet, calm cooling down. School work was often rather taxing and took a toll on little boys such as him. What better place to avoid all interaction like it was the plague would there be than the dreaded, abandoned toilets? He might have preferred to spend most of his time outside. Fresh air was not only good for one's lungs but mind too! However, there was a certain charm that the abandoned toilets had. Might have been grim, but he still found something attractive in this place. Had he been too immersed in horror stories lately? It wasn't his first time in here either. He had gone through all kinds of shenanigans with all kinds of different people in this strange safe haven of his.
Now that he thought about it, most of his adventures were shared with girls. He wondered why had it been so? He never actively sought to surround himself with gals. He had always been famous for being rather awkward, tense and even leaning a bit more to the timid side when around the opposite sex. Well, not that it mattered. Remy really could not care any less.
Thinking back on his peers trying to brew potions in the abandoned toilets and Remy himself finding silently sniffling students with their books squeezed to their chests as they mourned for whatever reason, be it grades or family problems, he could confirm that his time at Hogwarts had been filled with funny interactions. What had he really expected from a school that taught magic to kids? He was getting oddly distracted by the past happenings, unable to consistently focus on one stream of thought instead of hopping through all kinds of things. Dear Lord, his mind dared to be reminded of all the stressful schoolwork that waited for him around the corner. Much ado about nothing! He sighed and could hear the sound of his own heavy exhale bouncing from one wall to the other. Remy snapped from his trance and his lips turned into a subtle grin. The first thing the son of someone that is heavily involved with music would naturally be; 'Great acoustics'. He hummed a little tune, amusing and conversing with himself. It really made him feel like there was someone else there with him! After thinking of it like that, he found it rather depressing rather than funny. Oh woes of being indecisive, did he want to be alone or not? That was the question.
He eventually did stand up. The young man had been sitting on the floor of one stall for this whole time. He wasn't sure how much time had past already. Minutes? Perhaps even hours? No, that could not have been. He was not a person capable of being, let alone sitting in one place for so long. He pushed the door before himself open as if he was walking inside some kind of a western saloon. Approaching the sink, this started resembling something akin to a concert instead of 'needing to be alone for a second' or 'down time' or 'relaxation'. Whatever you preferred to call it, so be it. Turning on the faucet, he leaned against the sink and threw his hand dramatically on his forehead.
"I'm wishing, for the one I love, to find me, today," he sang from the bottom of his lungs, probably alerting the people outside of the toilets too. He was quite familiar with the entertainment concerning the muggle world. This included movies and their music. He was familiar with the pale skin and raven hair that Snow White and himself shared. Chuckling as he listened to the echoes in this chamber, he really felt like the Snow White of his life.

'...to find me, today...'
A mildly familiar voice echoed throughout the otherwise empty corridor, making Dinara jump back a few steps in fear. Of all the places that she had to be alone! The lone girl shivered slightly, simultaneously glad that no one else was there to see her in such a pitifully fearful state yet also wishing that she had someone with her so she didn't have to face the heebies-jeebies alone!
Oddly enough, Dinara didn't bolt off despite her fear. Somehow, she felt oddly compelled to check out the abandoned toilets -- the tales of adventure and mischief that had been concocted in the Abandoned Toilets have reached her ears enough times for her to look forward to having some of her own, too. Besides, she recognised the tune as something rather familiar from her childhood -- Title tracks of songs from fairytales that she would never admit to enjoying.
As the 'Cool Kid' on the block (at least back home), Dinara had to always pretend that she was above it all. Fairytales were for kids and unrealistic dreamers, weren't they? Of course, as with most other girls, Dinara found a guilty pleasure in indulging in worlds of fantasy and glamour. It was rather ironic that she never once considered her own place in Hogwarts a fairytale in itself -- in an alternate universe where magic truly ceased to exist, others might have found themselves wishing that they were in Dinara's place instead.
Nevertheless, she braced herself and took a tentative step into the empty bathroom. Her footstep echoed out and she gulped nervously, trying to pinpoint the source of the rather haunting melody. Well, it wasn't really the melody that was haunting; but more of the fact that Dinara was seemingly alone in a dusty, cobwebbed bathroom with nothing but her own shadow for company.
Apart from the voice, if you would. Then again, could one really be sure that the voice belonged to anyone, even?
Chiding herself for her paranoia, the little girl crept through the bathroom gingerly, making sure to avoid stepping on the cracks that littered the darkened tiles. Her demeanour almost seemed to mimic that of a rodents' -- if rodents had large, bushy manes, anyway. It helped that her petite stature allowed her to traverse this foreign and creepy landscape without many alerts about her presence apart from the first clumsy misstep.
It seemed as though the universe was transpiring against Dinara on this fine day; for the tall, lanky boy that was Dinara's second-biggest enigma (losing out only to Herbology) in Hogwarts who was leaning against the sink in his particularly dramatic rendition of Snow White's song was completely missed by Dinara Lucey. If she had known, she'd have been pretty ashamed of herself -- the girl did pride herself on her awareness of her surroudings. On this very day, her jumpiness had somehow caused her vision to completely gloss over and disregard the male that occupied the space.
Opting to avoid making any form of eye contact with the mirror, Dinara assumed that the best course of action was to check the toilet stalls. Perhaps not the wisest thing to do, considering the untimely fates of all the poor horror-movie protagonists that did the same thing, yet the eleven-year-old hardly knew any better. Taking in a deep breath to steady herself, she let out a loud yell that was surprisingly guttural before springing out a frontal kick which knocked the bathroom door wide open; the slam echoing throughout the bathroom (and presumably the hallways as well).
Squeezing her eyes shut, Dinara peeked through her fingers only to be met with... An empty toilet stall and the corpse of an unfortunate spider that likely got squished by the girl's less-than-necessary antics. Feeling rather sorry for the spider, she sank to her knees in partial relief and remorse. She scooped up the spider in her delicate hands, frowning as she wondered if a proper burial was due.

As always, fun things had to come to eventually come to an end. Even when that little bit of fun had only lasted for a couple of minutes of Broadway-level (or so he thought) singing, they were still a very good and fun couple of minutes. He was still leaning on his sink, giving a loud performance to whatever pests resided in these bathrooms. Little did he know that one of those pests was none other than Dinara Lucey. It seemed like everywhere Remy went, she was there. Of course, it could have been the other way too with Remy following the girl wherever she went, but Remy's ego did not allow that thought cloud his mind.
He was about to pull some high note before a low and throaty scream echoed in the bathroom. Huh? Had that sound just come out of him? Did he just hit his voice break? Sweet! Wait, no way! He didn't even have enough time to open his mouth to make any sounds. Until this point, he had not been aware of Miss Lucey creeping behind him like that. Frankly, she had not noticed him either despite the concert that he was having in these bathrooms. Both of them seemed to be equally as dense in this matter. The scream was soon accompanied by a loud thud. Remy wouldn't admit it, but he might have even flinched a bit at that sound. What kind of monster was ravaging in these bathrooms? A sewage rat? Rats didn't make sounds like that.
Rolling the sleeves of his robes up, he pushed away whatever fear he had had in his body up until now. He was curious enough to see who or what was the source of the sound. Maybe he was the lost Snow White of this town and had just managed to summon some kind of an animal just like that princess did? As he quietly tried to creep behind the creature, he could already see a big and poofy mane of said creature. It took him a few seconds to recognize this critter resting on its, no, her knees. Remy almost let out an audible sigh when his brain finally quit trying to connect the right name to this mane. It wasn't necessarily a sigh marking his disappointment. Could have just as well been relief. After all, this creature wasn't that dangerous according to Remy's past experiences. Sure, she would sometimes stomp her feet in frustration reminding him of a little toy soldier, or maybe even call him with odd names, but she had never hurt him. Not yet at least.
Snow White had met his old friend The Not-So-Wicked Queen. Standing behind her, his eyes fell on the little creature on her lap. Was that a dead spider that she was cradling like her own child? Kind of gross, kind of what he would expect from the villain. "Hello there pretty lady. You come here often?" he asked in a jokingly manner as he crouched on her level, staring at the spider. Instead of saying anything, he just raised his brows slowly as if to ask 'now what?'

The ever familiar taunting voice had come back to haunt her. For a split second, Dinara nearly thought that the ghost of the deceased spider had come back to haunt her! Flinging the (already rather decimated) carcass of the insect off her and assuming a karate position that she once observed on a particularly famous muggle movie, she let out a screech before realising that the supposed 'ghost' was none other than the biggest enigma to ever roam the halls of Hogwarts -- Remy Alto.
With a loud sigh of relief, Dinara relaxed her stance. Of all the people she had expected to find here, it certainly wasn't him. Besides, what was he going on about, calling her a pretty lady and all?!
"Well, you... You..." her voice trailed off as she realised that her wits never actually came to save her when it came to situations involving Remy Alto. "...You absolutely dashing lad, I do indeed come here very often, thank you very much!
The sheer bad of her "comeback", if one could even term it as such, came back to smack her in her face. Crossing her arms adamantly, she struggled desperately to prevent the colour from rising to her cheeks. What an absolute disaster this must be! Of all the stupid things she could have spewed, Dinara couldn't believe herself to have said something that sounded as stupid as what she had said.
There are many miracles that happen, to be sure, yet one would never have witnessed a miracle as great as this.
For once, Dinara Lucey was admitting to herself that what she said was completely and utterly stupid.
However, this didn't deter the stubborn lass from holding her ground. Sure, she may have spouted utter stupidity in the face of this 'dashing lad', but it wasn't going to stop her from trying to save what little scraps of dignity she had left. Flashes of all the embarrassing moments that she had shown in front of the boy suddenly flashed across her mind, making her all the more determined to stand her ground right there and then.
While any reasonable person at the scene would likely have connected Remy's presence to the mysterious singing voice that had initially drawn her to the location. Unfortunately enough, Dinara didn't quite have enough reason in her three brain cells to make that connection. Instead, her little brain decided that the mysterious voice was surely the work of some odd entity that was hiding somewhere, waiting to strike. Besides, a voice that was as sweet as that would never have belonged to the little boy-gremlin that stood in front of her! Never in a million years!
So in the face of her rival, she stood as steadfastly as she could. The little trembles that coursed through her body at the thought of some singing ghostly entity were mostly hidden by the robes, though if someone were to be particularly observant, they'd realise that the little shake of her curls wasn't a result of her natural stance; but more so that of fear and anticipation.

He would have liked to think that he was no coward. He was the unafraid, courageous hero of his own story. Once she whisked the unlucky spider's corpse away and accompanied that action with her unruly scream and pose, that facade of his flew away just like the spider. Remy let out a matching screech to hers and rather than resembling a practitioner of karate, he looked like a fumbling fool. He fell on his backside just from the pure power of her scream. He stared at her with his eyes widened, having trouble trying to catch his breath and fully analyze what had just happened. As he panted, he was struggling to get any audible words out of himself
"What the heck do you think you're doing, screaming around like you've been possessed by a banshee?" His voice clearly faltered and was higher than usual. When he was done eyeing her like she was a madman, he let out a snort of some sorts and a string of giggles followed. He wasn't hostile or angry at her, more surprised than anything. Of course, there was a dash of pity for the spider that she had catapulted away too.
It didn't help that she called him 'a dashing lad'. He had never been complimented that way, nor was he sure what to think about it or how to feel about it either. Remy looked at the girl with some doubt lacing his gaze. What did she mean by that 'compliment'? Was she perhaps being sarcastic? He was always advised to avoid that style of humor. It could create many misunderstandings and lots of hurt. Nevertheless, his ego would like to believe that she was serious about him being as dashing as one could be. And with that, he continued laughing. Of course, he would have preferred to retain his calm composure and serious image, but there was no helping when he kept on cracking up.
She crossed her arms over her chest, looking quite disappointed. He stood up with his own help, dusting his shoulders. He had expected for her to immediately link in who the culprit was behind the Broadway musical that had been held in this bathroom. He was shameless, so obviously, he was not going to apologize for anything that she had had to hear. Instead, she should be grateful that someone had graced her with such a stunning voice on this beautiful day! He had missed the little tremors too, coming from fear traveling through her body, thinking that she was probably just really angry at him, or cold. It was a bit chilly in here, wasn't it?
"In that case, may I ask, why on Earth would you come to a place like this so often then?" he was seriously curious and intrigued by her. Dinara Lucey was an enigma of an individual too, and he still felt like there was so much that he did not know. She always had some kind of unexpected reaction to everything. Whenever Remy spent time with her, he could be all tippy-toed and dance around the subject, and she'd still have some extreme(ly funny) reaction to whatever he did.

Remy's less than graceful landing would have resulted in an absolute fit of laughter from the girl if only she had time to even process what had happened. Fortunately for the little Slytherin's dignity, Dinara was way too shell shocked to even process that the boy had actually been scared by her antics.
Flinging her robes out from behind her, she tilted her chin stubbornly with an air of annoying superiority. She pointed adamantly to the new badge that now sat atop her chest, gleaming with a shine that could only have been achieved from hours of polishing. This, of course, was the absolute truth: Of all her Prefect-ing duties, keeping the little badge shiny was the one that the young lass took the most seriously. How else would anyone even know about her being Hufflepuff's newly appointed Prefect?
"Well, I'd be careful about who I'm calling a screaming banshee if I were you." Dinara shook her shoulders, causing the little Prefect badge to flop around on her robes. "Plus, it's not like I frequent these places or anything. I think I heard a siren or mermaid or summat singing here and I am here to investigate! Part of them Prefecting duties."
She ended her obnoxious little monologue with a dramatic flourish, pride very obviously plastered on her little face. It's not that Dinara thought herself any better than her peers, though she couldn't deny that the newfound attention that came with being a Prefect immensely swelled her ego.
It would also be incredibly unbecoming of her to admit to Remy that her initial statement of her 'coming here often' was simply an instinctual response to his banter. While Dinara had big reactions to everything, her responses to Remy, in particular, happened to be somewhat less controlled. She just didn't function in front of the boy, for some reason.
Although it had been starting to become clearer to her, she would never on her life admit that she'd finally met a rival worthy of her. In her world, no one could be as great as Dinara Lucey!
Watching as he dusted off his shoulders, she raised an eyebrow at him as well. "Well then, what are you doing here? Not a bad place to be, but well, not exactly where I'd be spending much of my time, either."
Had Remy let down his guard a little more, he would realise that Dinara was someone that simply wasn't capable of issuing nor handling sarcasm of any sort. She was very much a direct and to-the-point sort of person; any attempts at nuances wouldn't be very much effective towards her at this point in time. She genuinely felt like the Abandoned Toilets, while slightly rundown, was a decent place to be.

He was awfully easy to impress when it came to things like academic prowess or big responsibilities. When those two were mixed together, it created a very important job, at least in his mind. He lacked both academic prowess and responsibilities, and that shiny little badge on her chest was a good indicator that she was different from him. Remy might have had a large and inflated, chubby ego, but he'd let hers shine too for a second as he admired the badge. Well, with his own twist of course.
"Man oh man, that's one glorious badge you have right there. I guess you're a role model now that we all should follow, right? Congratulations on your newfound position," Remy chuckled and lightly clasped his hand over his mouth to hide a bigger snort from surfacing. He was proud of the little lioness in front of him, but couldn't help but find it a bit funny how she wanted to show this position off to him. Maybe she cared about his opinion on the matter or simply wanted to be smothered in attention. "Funny, the Dinara I know would only get that badge by mistake. I guess I don't know you too well in the end," he said cheekily, his little jab echoing in the bathrooms, covered in a honey-sweet tone.
He meant no harm with that statement. He wasn't jealous or passive aggressive either, he was genuinely happy for her for some reason! They didn't know each other too well. Remy didn't even know what was her favorite genre of music! That was just...tragic! She had, however, many times proved to him that she was more adept when it came to this 'school' and 'role model' stuff. He entertained himself with the idea of hundreds of students modeling their behavior after hers, what would happen then? Chaos and revolution?
"You might be a prefect, but you're no less banshee. I'm sure you'll figure out how to balance both," he tilted his head ever-so-slightly, cocking his brow up as if to question if she really could do that. As much of a 'daredevil' as he was, he wouldn't like to test the prefect any more on her notoriously short patience. Her little slip of a dialect made him sneer again. Sort of endearing from her, sort of funny and foreign.
He was so dense that he believed her about the sirens and mermaids that could possibly inhabit this castle. Anything was possible if it was Hogwarts, that he had learned very well. Fluttering his eyelashes and looking left and right to see if there were any of those sirens in sight, Remy slowly started to connect the dots.
"I visit this place to have my little concerts for the sewer rats in here. Besides, I like privacy," there was some truth to that statement and a little sprinkle of lies. Truth be told, he was a bit insecure about his voice that seemed to often feel weak these days. The sewer rats wouldn't complain about his performance, would they? They were nice...and gentle...and very quiet. Unlike her!
"About that, you might have heard me sing. Or maybe there really is a siren somewhere out here in the castle. In that case, I want to explore," Remy smiled with his wide toothy smile, showing off his teeth that were almost permanent, except for a few milk teeth here and there. This would be a good chance to get to know her better and learn all of those nitty-gritty details about her likes and dislikes.

Now, Dinara may have liked to flaunt her newfound position to the other students but she was still undeniably somewhat insecure in her ability to fill in these boots of responsibility that she felt were way too huge for her. She hadn't really gotten the hang of addressing her (very well-hidden) insecurities when it came to her and her little Prefect role.
Which is also why she took Remy's little tongue-in-cheek comment a little more sensitively than usual. The chuckle scared her -- It was almost as if she wasn't... Deserving of this position. It was definitely a fear that Dinara had already held way before this interaction with Remy. She shuffled uncomfortably, her shoulders hunching over to hide the visibility of the Prefect badge. Heck, she almost wished she could be rid of it just so she didn't have to face the responsibility of it right now!
"Well, yes, it is a glorious badge I suppose..." she coughed lightly, turning away to hide her face. "I can't say I'm really a role model, though." Her voice was uncharacteristically quiet, and if Remy took the time to turn her round and look at her face he would've seen wrinkled brows and a downcast look of sadness that wasn't very becoming of the girl. Quickly rubbing her forehead with her robes, she whipped back to face him with a forced expression of anger -- it was, she supposed, how the 'normal' her that wasn't burdened with the pressure of acting like a Prefect would act.
"Pray tell, Mr. Remy, why would this badge be a mistake on me?" the false anger in her voice masked the real vulnerability that Dinara was hiding from the boy. "I mean, a school full of Dinaras would be great."
At that thought, she wrinkled her nose. Dinara didn't quite like the idea of having someone else who behaved like her. She was the only one allowed to behave like herself!
"...Or maybe not. I'm the only me around, innit?"
Shaking her head as she processed these thoughts, she looked to the boy once again as he poked fun at her seeming 'banshee-like' qualities. She chose to remain silent for now -- She didn't think being a banshee was that bad of a thing to be, apart from that part where they had ghoulish faces...
"Hey! I don't think I look like a banshee at all! her outburst surprised even herself, though she did only just realise that Remy could very possibly be poking fun at her appearance on top of her voice. "And I'm sure I sound better than them."
Letting out an irritated huff, she leaned against the wall of the toilet cubicle. Remy Alto, truly a huge mystery. At the back of her head, Dinara wondered if she would ever be able to unravel this mystery that was he; they've had quite a few interactions yet she still felt as though there was still a whole ocean beneath that surface for her to explore.
At his mention of a concert, Dinara finally somehow managed to put two and two together -- the voice had actually belonged to him. Her face flushed red in embarrassment, though she had hoped that the boy would attribute this to the heat. She never realised he could sing as well as he did, though that was something that she would never admit to Remy; not on her life! Letting out yet another cough to hide her embarrassment and her sudden realisation, she began to look around -- partially for the sewer rats that Remy had mentioned and partially to hide her face which had started to look like a well-grown tomato from her grandfather's garden.
"If you like these sewer rats so much, you might be better off getting an actual rat from the Magical Menagerie. Then you'll be able to sing to it all you want." she stuck her tongue out at him, though she couldn't fully understand why he would like a sewer rat, of all animals. Sure, they looked cute, but there were so many other options out there! Take the Pygmy Puffs -- little darlings, they were.
Remy's little cheeky mention of exploring had Dinara perk up almost immediately. With all her patrols and attempts to uphold herself as a Prefect, she had been taking herself all too seriously. The little lioness had been curbed to a smoldering cinder, and Remy's little invitation may be exactly what she needed to relight that spark. Grabbing her Prefect badge from her robe, she detached it (with utter care, of course) and stuffed it within one of her pant pockets.
"You've had me at explore. Today, Dinara Lucey will set off with you, not as a Prefect but as the Pirate Queen she was meant to become!"
With that, she pulled her wand out, brandishing it as a pirate would and letting out little yells of 'aghhh's. Unrealistic, yes, but her only knowledge of pirates came from muggle media, which tended not to be all too accurate, anyway. Using her mane of hair to cover one eye, she grinned a toothy smile at the male, her missing canines being the last of her adult teeth that have yet to grown in. Had Remy stared at her a little longer, he'd notice the slight bunny teeth on her smile -- Dinara's two front teeth jutted out slightly. Not exactly the biggest contestant for any beauty pageant out there, though it did contribute to her young appearance. While other girls in Hogwarts seemed to possess some kind of ethereal beauty, Dinara looked very much like a normal 12 year old; perhaps even passing off for younger than she actually was.
"Now, where are we off to today?"

It took him a while to process and evaluate what he had just said to her. The last thing that he would have wanted to do was really hurt her. Some of that was stemming from the fear of what she could be capable of when angry or hurt, some of it a newfound loyalty that he had to her. She might have seen him as a walking mystery to solve, he just saw her as a simple friend and a rival at the same. A frenemy that he cared about in his own little messy way. Observing her now much less confident body language, he decided to redeem himself.
"I'm just joking around, I'm sure you're fit for the job. After all, it's only for the best of the best," he gave her a good pat on the shoulder that was his way of showing that he was serious about it. Remy would often be described as a rowdy person by others, he wouldn't deny that either. He wasn't the most eloquent boy when it came to praising others so he would rather give them a big hug or a good ruffle on the hair. It was rather warm from someone who was rather cold and distant sometimes.
"I wouldn't want hundreds of Dinara's running around either. I think that the one and only one is enough to make people happy," he spoke in a very matter-of-fact tone. A school of hundreds of Dinara's would also mean that it probably would burn into ashes in a matter of weeks. That wouldn't have been what anyone wanted, right? He struggled to look serious again with her slip of dialect. He could not place his finger on where it was coming from but thought that it was cute nevertheless.
"Well I've never seen a banshee so I can't really confirm," Remy blinked in confusion, not sure why she'd link his little comment to the appearance of the ghoulish banshee rather than the voice that they were known for. "Well, now that you've said it, I don't think I've heard one either," he tapped his jaw in thought, his face twisting to a focused one. Maybe there was a banshee hidden in this castle after all and it wasn't the one standing right across him now.
"I'd feel guilty if I bought a rat now and left the sewage rats without their sole source entertainment," Remy said, fumbling with his fingers as his expression turned into a more anxious and sad one. He cared for these sewage rats, even if they didn't really care for him and hoped that he would rather bring them some scraps of his food rather than some opera singing performance. He stuck his tongue right back at her, even crossing his arms over his chest to signify that he could be just as childish as she was.
He wasn't much of a beauty queen either. His ghostly pale skin paired up with his lanky stature and crazy mop of unkempt raven hair wouldn't be what you would essentially call pretty at first. Maybe if Remy actually paid attention to his looks and groomed himself more often, he could smoke all the girls in a competition and his ghastly, gangly appearance could be appreciated. Although he would have liked to say that his personality made him even more charming, it wasn't uncommon for someone to find him rather irritating.
At least Dinara seemed to tolerate him to an extent. Remy was already getting playful and ready for their little adventure. Albeit many of his peers had already ditched these kinds of 'juvenile' activities, he did occasionally enjoy playing pretend in the hushed corner of his room. "Isn't the Queen supposed to be the one giving orders?" he mused with another smile, deciding to play the lesser role this time, trying to appease to her after making her uncomfortable several times.

Remy's unexpected kindness should have come as a shock to Dinara, but somehow she was less surprised by it than she would've thought. It wasn't the first time that the boy would have shown some semblance of kindness, and somewhere deep down Dinara probably recognised that as weird and as mischievous the little Alto was, he likely possessed a kind heart.
The warmth from Remy's hand felt oddly comforting, perhaps even comfortable. Way too comfortable. In a panic, Dinara quickly used her makeshift pirate sword (aka her poor wand) to gently prod him in the chest, creating a firm distance between the two. Well, as firm a distance there could be in the already crowded toilet cubicle, that is.
It wasn't that Dinara minded having people in her personal space. In fact, she was often the one ignoring these personal boundaries and making others feel uncomfortable. She just felt different around Remy; perhaps due to him being someone she views as a worthy equal that is capable of rivaling her, or due to some other reason. She wasn't nearly quite as reflective to find out at the moment, and without any probing from others she likely wouldn't even explore other possibilities.
"U-uh, well, I'm glad you recognise me as the best of the best," she stuttered, inwardly cursing herself for being a fool. She couldn't afford to look so stupid in front of Remy! Gathering her composure, Dinara kept her wand and looked him in the eyes, her voice dropping to an even quieter hush. "Thanks for that, anyhow."
The confused expression on Remy's face was missed by Dinara in her utter excitement for exploration. His statement made sense, Dinara sincerely doubted many students in Hogwarts would have actually seen a real banshee at their age. Still, she didn't think they'd be very pretty creatures, based on the description in their textbooks. She pursed her lips. Would there be a banshee in the castle somewhere that they would be able to face off with?
The talk of sewer rats, while a seemingly silly topic to most others, seemed like one that truly mattered to the lanky boy. It was odd to see an expression that was neither cheeky nor cheery plastered on his face as Dinara looked up at him. Even the dense Dinara could tell that of all things, Remy Alto had somehow developed a sentimental value for sewage rats.
The boy may have thought that he looked somewhat pale and unkempt, and he did; it was undeniable that both he and Dinara could put more effort into their appearance grooming. However, Dinara would've supposed that many would've considered him objectively attractive, appearance-wise. She would never say this out loud, nor does she ever discriminate by looks, but she did suppose that Remy Alto would someday grow up to be a heartbreaker.
Squatting down, she eyed the scuttling shadows that seemed to move with every motion. There was definitely no shortage of sewer rats here, which somehow gave way to inspiration for a (not so) FANTASTIC idea to Dinara.
"HEY! Why not we bring all these lil rats back to your Slytherin dorm and you can take care of them!" Her voice was back to it's normal, full-blast volume, echoing throughout the empty bathroom stalls and likely giving all the living creatures (including Remy and the poor rats) a splitting headache. "Look, it'll be great. We can catch them together and you can entertain them forever!"
Dinara bounced excitedly on the soles of her feet, evidently proud of what she thought was the idea of the century. "Well, sure, the Queen's usually the one giving orders... But that's to the underlings! You're a partner. P-A-R-T-N-E-R, so I'm not gonna be giving out any orders to you." She nodded triumphantly as she said that, grinning cheerily as she eyed all the rats that were just waiting to be called.
