The Mistletoe Spin Group #4 Summer Camp 2024

Thank god the dance floor did its magic and made everyone dance again, hopefully it wasn't too hard on Kenzie's ankle. Aston was relieved as he felt the attention moved away from him and his friend and back onto the dance. After some dancing and some awkward glaces with the people involved with the event just now, Aston found himself stopping in front of a girl he doesn't know, before saying anything Aston looked up to check what he landed under and found a candle. Not a good one though since he also saw the wax dripping down at him, and his new clothes, so naturally he quickly moved to the side. After that he looked over at his partner, who cast a spell to prevent the wax. Ah that was probably a better idea, oh well.

Seeing the smile on her face Aston smiled back at her, her mention of the punch he threw made Aston blush a little out of embarrassment. "Hi, Jamie, my name's Aston, sorry about the whole drama I kinda started. Thanks though! I never did have much of a real fight before, my mother just taught me a lot. She was good at this and apparently got into fights. My father says I probably got my anger from her. Do you fight?"

I felt a bit embarrassed by my quick burst of anger, as it was fading fast now. I joined everyone in the music and sighed as I was with another boy from the whole bit of trouble. He apologized and then looked up. I looked up as well and felt extremely annoyed. It was mistletoe. What else? "Um...I'm Alice. Uhh....Fiddle sticks I do not want to....sorry." And I leaned forward, then quickly leaned back, very unsure. This was not going well. I sighed again, extremely annoyed with this whole kissing thing. "It's nice to meet you I guess. Do you do any sports? I do Quidditch, second string seeker. Um....I'm also a muggle born from New York? Not really sure what else to say. I just thought I should introduce myself before I kiss you." I took a breath, not used to conversing this much. I knew that I would have to kiss him, but I really didn't want to. I really didn't want to end up like the girl who caused trouble, nor did I want to do nothing, as I didn't want to seem like I wasn't participating. I had hoped I wouldn't have to do this...but the mistletoe had eventually caught up to me. It was time. So I leaned in and kissed him. Casey saw the girl's miffed expression at the mistletoe. Seemed that was something they could find common ground if anything - quite a miracle given "the incident" not ten minutes ago. He couldn't help the soft chuckle that left him as he watched her flustered disposition over the matter. With all that had happened he expected her to give him a red cheek over the fight, but instead he found himself contently answering her inquisitive questions.

"I'm from Portland. Oregon. I'm not one for doing sports but I guess if I would pick one, I'd do broom racing..." Casey was athletic... Thanks to Nick. Alas, those days had withered away after his disappearance. It made a little bit more sense as to why he never joined any of the Ilvermorny teams aside from the fact that he couldn't be bothered - very typical teenage attitude there. But with his slowly improving social personality, he might reconsider for the next academic year. Might.

One thing Casey didn't expect was that the girl - Alice - actually had the gall to lean in and peck his cheek. Looked like she did manage to give him a red cheek after all. His face was flaring like a tomato. All the other times he was under the mistletoe, he had shaken hands or simply just discarded the mistletoe rule in general - depending on the partner - but this was the first time he actually went through it to the letter.

Without thinking too much his hand lifted up to take Alice's in his, bringing it slowly and carefully to his lips and kissing her knuckle, long enough to deliver but pulling away before he lingered too long.

"Fair is fair, sweetheart."

The boy she had been paired with immediately stepped away from the wax that was continuing to drip onto the pair of them, Jamie of course not that bothered by it any more due to her spell working perfectly, which she didn't blame him for as it was quite annoying and made her wonder why on earth the organisers would add this into the mix. Although with everything going on she had a sneaky suspicion that they liked drama.

So he started it, she didn't quite expect that but it was intriguing to say the least. Smiling at him she went to answer his question.

"Oh, no need to be sorry! Sometimes things just get out of hand, but it's cool that your mom taught you how to fight! She sounds really interesting. I know a few bits here and there, not an expert in any way shape or form but I do like to think I'm pretty decent, not to brag or anything." She said, adding on a little chuckle and a small smile to seal the deal. " Also I didn't quite catch everything that was going on with you guys, is everyone okay?" She asked, throwing in a concerend look to hopefully coax Aston into giving Jamie some more details.

Aston was glad the girl didn't seem to judge him too badly based on the events that just happened. In fact she seems quite happy, The ball has been a fun time after all. "Thanks, it's cool that you know some. Most wizards I've met seem to have no idea or even look down upon fist fights. I kind of get it but still, I also just find sparring to be a good time. Everyone seems to be mostly okay, the flipendo Minnie tried to cast didn't really work but Kenzie, my friend, still twisted her ankle, she does seem pretty fine though, I still might take her to the sick bay or whatever they have at camp later." Aston was starting to relax again, moving on from the quick sequence of events that happened so recently.

"I really don't know why the hell she would try to cast flipendo at a person just for landing under the mistletoe with them, it's just so weird to me, she did sign up for this. Even if she was like me and came thinking it was a normal ball jinxing someone for bad luck is just not okay. Anyways it's not important now, " Even the mention of the incident feels less significant, Good, I really do feel bad about what happened.

Jamie understood where Aston was coming from with the fact that a lot of wizards looked down upon fist fighting. If you had magic why on earth would you use your hands to fight? If you wanted someone seriously hurt there were plenty of spells you could instantly whip out before your target even knew you were there. But Jamie had learned a few martial arts here and there, she'd started because her parents wanted her to be able to defend herself should she for whatever reason not have magic at her disposal, even though they were pure-bloods they weren't naive enough to think that magic would always work.

"Yeah, it's a good thing nobody got seriously hurt. The people at the hospital tent will be able to help her, I think I've seen much worse injuries get healed so she should be fine." Jamie said, not lying at this point. And she get's why Aston was confused about why Minnie would cast a spell at someone, but also Jamie really didn't care why to be honest, it was a very good source of entertainment. Not that she would tell that to him, he'd stop feeding her information at that point.

"To be honest, it's a weird reflex. She must have seen what happened with the other people in the other rounds right? I don't really get it either but what's done is done and everyone will be fine. Now I suggest we just enjoy the rest of the song." She said, noting that Aston was getting to the end of the conversation and that she most likely wouldn't get much more information out of him. Starting to carefully dance to the song that was playing Jamie enjoyed the way the music felt, wondering what she would do for the rest of the day.
