The Mistletoe Spin Group #8

Interacting with: @Evelynn Decipio, @Akari Kato
The redhead seemed distracted as she accepted his compliment towards her eyes. Before he could subtly glance around to see what might be distracting her, Evelynn was already excusing herself from the situation. "Have a good rest of your night," Aaron said in farewell. When she did her parting curtsy, he immediately offered a little bow of his head in exchange. It felt very formal, but so did she.
The music swelled again and partners were exchanged. The Hufflepuff was really hoping to get paired with another friendly face - maybe Amina? or Opeila? When the music stopped, he was standing across from a familiar dark-haired girl, but it was neither of the aforementioned. As soon as he processed that it was Akari standing across from him, Aaron took a half step back to put a bit more distance between them than he had with anyone else. She probably wanted less to do with him than he wanted to do with her. But not by much.
"Hey," he said, trying not to come off as awkward. It was hard, though, given that is exactly how he was feeling. "You look nice." The Hufflepuff was trying to be polite - was it coming off that way? The subconscious guilt he felt about their situation was gnawing at him now that she stood so close to him, and he had to consciously remind himself that it was as much her fault as it was his. It was in the past, and it was best to leave it there. Aaron just wanted the music to start up again and take them away from each other. Wait, was the music fading out?

Saved by the music, Aly whirled away from her stressful dance partner, bouncing from person to person but barely noticing any of them. Her chest still heaving, heart still pitter-pattering from nerves in her chest, the teenage Ravenclaw could barely enjoy herself for trying to relax and calm down. This dream dance had turned into a bit of a nightmare, but luckily, being the organiser, she did know that this would be the last song of the evening - didn't want the Spin to drag on too long, of course. And there were still plenty of her mates in this group she hadn't ended up with yet - Pericles, Evelynn, Dorion, Winnie... the thought of ending up in any of their arms seemed to calm her pulse at least a bit.
And so a closed-eyed Aly twirled, her full scarlet skirt swivelling around her hips and legs, nearly stumbling on the hem as it dragged lightly against the golden floor... out of the grasp of a partner and into naught but the touch of the cool summer night air as the music faded to silence. The chatter of her dancing peers began to rise around her, and Aly let her eyelids flutter open to... nothing.
No person. No arms. No smile. No dance partner. And, despite the mistletoe hovering above her, definitely no kiss.
But, on the other hand... no partner meant no awkward conversations. No apologies needed, and no panic attacks to be had. No one next to her meant that, finally, for the first time in this event that she had spent so much time planning and worrying over and looking forward to, Aly could actually breathe.
She heaved a deep sigh and glanced around the dance floor, wondering who had left in order to create an uneven pairing. After all, there had been twelve people assigned to each of the golden chessboards littering the snow-covered grassy Quidditch pitch here in London... so to have a soloist in this dance of pairs, someone had to have abandoned the music entirely, left to waltz off into the dark. Her gaze caught upon a rainbow of colours in silks and chiffon - black, white, green, gold, and of course lots and lots of pink... but one was missing. The scarlet of her soldier boy. One of her best mates, and her colour match, had vanished: Pericles. Aly scanned from side to side, but the shock of white hair and golden epaulettes had indeed left after she'd spotted him leaving the dance-floor at the end of the prior song. Oh, so he hadn't just been going for punch. He had gone entirely, and left her to dance alone.
Hot tears pricked behind her vision, obscuring the golden chessboard in a glowing blur. First Peri had been all chummy with Aaron, and now he'd abandoned her here on the dance-floor by herself... sniffling slightly, Aly wiped at her eyes with the back of her hand, barely noticing the streak of black mascara left behind on the vermillion silk of her glove. She would see him back at the tent, certainly, but whether she would tell him good-night was still up in the air. I'm probably overreacting, but... I would have quite liked to have danced with him. Though kissing might have been awkward! Maybe it's a good thing he's left, after all.
With nothing left to do but leave, Aly herself turned to head back to the Stargazer tent, another disaster of a dance under her belt. Had no teenage prom ever turned out well for her? Would one ever? And yet, just as these thoughts invaded her pretty little head, a soft touch of fingers came to her gloved elbow, and a familiar voice asked if she was all right.
The curly-haired brunette turned to find none other than the sun gazing down at her, lit up golden in her white-and-silver ensemble, though whether that was from Evelynn's own warm internal glow or the metallic chessboard beneath their feet, Aly couldn't quite tell. Still, she flushed in the warmth, basking in the lioness's presence in a way that she had not quite felt with any of the other dance partners yet this evening. "Oh. Yes, I'm fine," she muttered; then Evelynn's spoken worry about Peri caused the red-eyed Ravenclaw to meet her red-haired friend's gaze for the first time. "Oh, you noticed that, too? He went that way," pointing towards where a scarlet back had retreated into the night. "I think he was supposed to dance with me, but... well. Don't worry about leaving, let's put it that way. I'm going to head out, myself, in a moment."
Eve smirked at her, then. A remark about tradition. Just as Aly was about to tilt her confused head to one side and ask what the lioness meant, suddenly silver-gloved hands were pulling her closer, until they were chest to chest, and the eaglet's palms pricked with sweat and nerves. An electric shock ran down her spine, and she looked up to Evelynn just in time to feel fingers on her freckled cheek and the tilting upwards of her chin. The redhead's other hand lost in the curls at the nape of Aly's neck, Evelynn leaned down and kissed her.
Fireworks sparked in her brain, each of her senses overloading and exploding; for a moment, she didn't dare kiss the girl back, a mind filling with memories of a certain someone the night before calling romantic endeavours a distraction. But then those thoughts washed away in sensations Aly never thought she'd feel again - had not felt in years - as Eve's tongue slid slyly against her lower lip, causing Aly's lips to part involuntarily, a gasp pushing against the lips of the girl she was kissing. She was kissing a girl. And it felt so right - so natural, as if Aly had been waiting for this her whole life and simply had never known it.
Then Eve broke away, likely needing air, whereas Aly felt as though she may never need to breathe again. She could be struck dead right now, on this instant, by a Killing Curse, and even that would not have torn her down from the high she was riding. No Firebolt in the world could cause this rush. With what magic had Eve enchanted her lips? A brush of Love Potion over ruby gloss, perhaps...? And as the redhead took her leave with a parting good-bye and a fae-tale promise, Aly could not help but reach out to touch her, glove just barely failing to brush against glove and a final, whispered "Eve..." But she was gone in an instant, and Aly had indeed melted into a puddle on the floor, after all.
Something new had bloomed inside of her, a seed planted deep within the pumping veins surrounding her heart. And now Pericles had vanished from her mind - the only thought being that she couldn't wait to see Eve in the morning.
Oh, Merlin. This is bad. This is so bad...

Almost immediately after she had pressed her lips against the boy's cheek Akari was pulled again by the forces of the dancing spell. Trotting around uncontrollably to the music in the background, but before long she found herself in front of another boy.
Akari's stomach dropped instantly as she was met face to face with the main person she was so desperately trying to avoid tonight, especially on such an occasion as a kissing game.
Her expression went completely blank as a couple of curse words under her breath slipped out unintentionally. Akari's big dark eyes continued staring up at the boy at a slight loss for words and somewhat frozen in place. All the feelings and hurt she had felt because of this boy, though she thought had long settled by now, were threatening that theory and pulling on whatever heartstrings they could as memories began to loom in the back of her mind.
Within herself she started battling her own thoughts on how she should approach this dreaded interaction. Part of her wanted to slap him, another part wanted to simply snob him and give him attitude, while another just wanted to turn her back to him and depart without a single word.
They had not really spoken since the happenings of that wild ride of a day on the field almost a year ago, and so hearing him compliment her made a frown spread rapidly across her face. Did he even mean it, or were words being twisted again? She really could not tell. "I know" Akari replied, almost surprising herself with the confidence and speed that response came out with. It was then that she did a double take and looked up at the hanging plant innocently perched above their heads.
"You've got to be shitting me..."

The Mistletoe Spin Group #8

Interacting with: @Akari Kato, Amina Petrovic @Ileen Knight
"I need to go catchup with my friend since the event's ending," Aaron said, his eyes refocusing on the Gryffindor girl in front of him. "It was nice seeing you, Ari - er, sorry, I meant Akari," the nickname he had used for her just slipped out, but he knew immediately to apologize for it. They weren't on nickname basis anymore.
Feeling more awkward than he had in a long time, Aaron quickly stepped away from the dark-haired beauty and walked past her without another word. There wasn't much to say, as this certainly wasn't the place to hash out any lingering bad feelings. And honestly? He just wanted to forget how badly he felt around Akari. That's why he beelined for Amina, forcing himself to forget the interaction with Akari. A grin broke out on his face as Aaron let his thoughts focus on Amina's outfit instead.
"Hey, stranger!" Aaron called once he was close enough, a small chuckle escaping his lips. "You look fancy, ready for a fly?" A cheeky look appeared on his face as he referenced the dare that she had clearly come prepared for. If she nodded or started her approach, he would be ready to lift her into the air as the situation clearly called for. It's not like they had rehearsed this at all - but somehow they would be perfectly in sync, as happened so often with the two best friends.

A wide grime would meet the Hogwarts student during their introduction. Aha, this was the fun guy's boyfriend. Man, all good boys were taken. Shame. “Nice meeting you, Dori! And wow, you almost punched someone? I take it you are the physical part of this relationship then? And yeah, he did chit-chat but not awkward!”
She giggled as he led her into a twirl and spun around like a real ballerina. Finally someone who also wanted to dance. Then they already parted and she felt his soft lips on his cheek.
With a twinkle in the green eyes, she bowed back and blew him a kiss as he took his leave. “You made my evening a whole lot better just now!”
And apparently that had been her last partner. While the music still continued, the spell that had pulled her from person to person was gone and all of the students separated back into their groups or parted with their partner.
Amina didn't leave yet. She was almost a little sad that it was over. The Durmstrang girl had met some interesting people after all - chatty, kissy, not so kissy. And besides... with a happy sigh, she turned on her own axis once more and scanned the crowd. After all, she wasn't here for fun and her mission wasn't over yet.
But it was probably the case that her mission found her first. Her heart leapt for joy when she heard the familiar voice and she whirled around in sync with it, a broad grin on her face.
She sank into a deep curtsy, unabashedly mocking, and framed her head with her arms outstretched like a tightrope walker.
Damn, he looked good. His sweater and brown trousers looked great on him and emphasized his muscular arms. How had she missed him until now? She couldn't stop herself from looking at his mouth for a moment. I wonder if he had kissed a lot. For some strange reason, the thought gave her a twinge, but Amina brushed it aside. Kissing was fun, she would be the last to judge someone for it. Maybe just because he might have gotten more than her? But that wasn't the point. It was about the mission!
“Hey handsome! You look quite fancy yourself!” Her smile deepened and she teasingly stuck her tongue out at him. Fortunately, she could appreciate good looks without turning bright red. That wouldn't match her dress at all.
As he smiled at her, a tension released in her that she hadn't even noticed before. With Aaron, she immediately felt as if she could be herself. No judgement.
In response to his question, she tossed her hair over her shoulder like a diva and batted her eyelashes. She was pleased to see that he had taken her hint with the dress. They were ready to go! She couldn’t wait. Although she never did something like this before, she was sure they would figure it out.
“You know I'm always ready when you are! And with that, she ran towards him. When she reached him, he bent a little and gripped her waist. Amina put her hands on his shoulders at the same time and jumped off strongly.
With a single fluid movement, Aaron lifted her over his head into the flight figure, supported by her hands, which stabilized her. But as soon as she reached the highest point, she let go of him and stretched out her arms. A joyful laugh made her diaphragm vibrate under Aaron's fingers. “Wuhu, like professionals!” she exclaimed happily. Man, this was awesome! All the kisses and fights were nothing compared to this!
