An unforgettable ceremony Closed

Aston watched the sorting ceremony from a seat near the end of the Ravenclaw table. Sadly most of his friends were not in the same house as him, resulting in him often sitting alone by the Ravenclaw table. Eventually the sorting ceremony began and Aston watched the results with plenty of interest. Soon Aston found three newly sorted Ravenclaws sitting next to him, thinking he should welcome them Aston waited till they mostly stopped talking and said, "Hello, welcome to Ravenclaw. Hope you guys like it here, I'm Aston, a second year. Do you guys already know each other?"

The headmaster finally announced that they can begin the feast and food finally appeared. One of the new first years quickly grabbed a chicken thigh and got some food on her face, and started looking for a napkin but couldn't find one. Makes sense since the napkins were over by Aston, he grabbed one and handed it to her. Hoping that it was of help. Aston picked up some food, namely some mashed potatoes and some beef, and began eating. "So, did you guys expect to be in Ravenclaw? When I got sorted I had literally no expectations, I thought I would be too dumb to be in Ravenclaw but I was wrong, it seems I did belong here after all.' Aston smiled at the thought of his sorting ceremony, god he was so nervous but the sorting hat did put him in the right place, it really doesn't make mistakes.

Hi Aria ! I'm Dove. You cannot believe how much I am happy to see that we are in the same house! I don't know about you, but I always have wanted to see the food appearing no the tables. My parents told me it's very good, so I cannot wait to taste it!

Aria gave a big smile to Dove. She seemed like a very nice girl. Aria still had adrenaline pumping through her veins from the sorting ceremony, but she still managed to talk to Dove normally, and not giggle while talking.

Hey Dove. It's nice to meet you. You don't even understand how happy I am that I am in Ravenclaw. My whole family was in Ravenclaw, so it would be so horrible if I wasn't. I've also heard about the food appearing on the table. It was my father's favorite part about Hogwarts apparently!

Aria closed her eyes and took a deep breath. This is something her mom taught her to do. It's called an "Appreaction Moment," where you close your eyes and just listen, smell and feel everything around you. It helps you stay in the moment, Aria found. And this was a pretty big moment. She was sitting with her new Ravenclaw family, in the Great Hall of Hogwarts, the best wizarding school there is.
I can't believe I'm here.

Aria was in the middle of her "Appreciation Moment" when she heard something else. Food was being put on the tables! She opened her eyes to watch as the whole table was magically filled with delicious food. Aria looked at Dove next to her, who was already grabbing for food, when she noticed everyone else was too. I guess it was time to eat! Aria scooped a big pile of mashed potatoes on her plate until she heard another voice.

Hello, welcome to Ravenclaw. Hope you guys like it here, I'm Aston, a second year. Do you guys already know each other?

Aria looked at Dove. It felt like they had already known each other for days for some reason.

Nope! Just met a few minutes ago!

So, did you guys expect to be in Ravenclaw? When I got sorted I had literally no expectations, I thought I would be too dumb to be in Ravenclaw but I was wrong, it seems I did belong here after all.

Aria never realized that other kids may not have been planning on getting a certain house. The muggle-born kids probably had never even heard of the four Hogwarts house before getting their letter!

My whole family was in Ravenclaw... I guess I never imagined myself in any other house. Thankfully I won't have too though! Eagles all the way!

After Aston had introduced himself and told of his experience regarding being sorted into Ravenclaw, Daniel listened well to the friendly demeanour of the second-year student. This was quite a comfort to know that some older students were approachable and willing to share experiences.


"My whole family was in Ravenclaw... I guess I never imagined myself in any other house. Thankfully I won't have to though! Eagles all the way!" chipped in Aria, quite relieved and very pleased with where she turned up.

Nodding to their conversation, Daniel took it in. "My parents were both in Ravenclaw, too," he added, nodding toward Aston. "Honestly, I wasn't sure where I would end up either. Now that I'm here, it feels like it was tailored for me. Ravenclaw values intellect and wisdom; I think this is where I'll have the most room to grow."

He served himself food, helping himself to a bit of everything to sample. The anticipation of seeing the food spread out had been as extraordinary as he'd imagined.

"It's amazing how the food just appears," Daniel said with a slight smile. "I remember my dad telling me about it, but seeing it for myself is something else.

As they ate, a great brotherliness grew among them, it seemed, already. Of course, to both Aria and Dove, it was their first night, and Aston had known him but briefly beforehand. He felt like they were already starting to form a bond to carry them through their years at Hogwarts.

He looked at the three of them and smiled. "I’ve got a feeling we’re going to have a great time here. I can’t imagine it being any other way with friends like you around."

It was one of those laughter- and chat-filled nights; the nerves of the Sorting Ceremony just melted away as the new Ravenclaws settled into what was soon to be their new home. Daniel couldn't help feeling that this was the start of something special—a journey through all of which they would stick together, bound by the blue and silver of their house.

Dove heard a boy talking, so she turned her eyes in the direction of the voice, and saw a boy, wearing a Ravenclaw uniform. "He is clearly not a first year then." she deducted. And indeed, she was right, he was older than them of one year, and his name was Aston. When he asked if they already knew each other, she let Aria answer. She still had her mouth dirty and didn't want to look at him with it. However, he seemed to have noticed it because he gave her a napkin. She thanked him with a shy voice, but she was glad to see that he was a nice person.
When Aston talked about how he felt when he discovered he belang at Ravenclaw, and when Aria talked about her, she couldn't hold her smile. When she was on the stool, she was so stressed not being in Ravenclaw, and thought that whispering the house she wanted would change his mind. Well, she wanted to be in Ravenclaw and she was, but this was only a coincidence. Now, it seems obvious that the hat does not let someone go into a house randomly, but she could understand why some people thought that it was a mistake. When someone was convinced to belong in somewhere, if the future did not correspond with what they imagined, this could be confusing. Buy anyway, now that her mouth was clean, she wanted to know more about Aston, who seemed kind.

"By the way Aston, what's your favorite color ?"

Hmh, maybe not the best question, but she had all the meal to know him better, and all the years left. Because yes, the more they all talked, the more she liked them. Of course, she already knew Daniel would be her bestfriend during all the seven years, and after who knows ? But she didn't she she would easily like Aria and Aston. And it seemed she was not the only one to think that, when Daniel shared his mind.

"I have the same feeling as you. I didn't think I would love people from the first day, and now, I don't think I could spend the future years without people like you !"

She smiled, ate, continued talking with her friends while thinking of her, in the Ravenclaw robe, with her friends around her, in front of her old self, who didn't think she would have such great time at Hogwarts.

Aston listened to their answers, "Wow so you guys really didn't doubt what house you would be in. My parents are american so my dad went to Ilvermorny as a thunderbird and my mother is a muggle. So I had no idea." It was weird not being the newest at the table, but Aston liked it. He isn't worried about not belonging here, nor about what the future has in store for him. Well he still thinks about the future, just not worrying about it. Over the last year Hogwarts has very much become a second home for him, it became a place of comfort.

Aston nodded along to Daniel's words about Ravenclaw, it is a place Aston likes a lot. He learned so much during his last year it was amazing! Dove asked what his favourite colour was, I don't think that's a usual icebreaker that's used but still, I don't think I've asked anyone that before. "I think it's dark green and blue, I like wearing dark colours. Dark green is nice but since it's Slytherin's house colour blue will have to be my favourite." Aston cut into a potato, the opening feast this year is just as amazing as the last. Maybe Aston just likes food and thinks almost all food is good but still! Hogwarts food is very good, especially the ones they make for big occasions. "Aria, so what's your favourite colour?"

Aria was lost in her thoughts. She was still in relief that she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Ever since she got her letter from Hogwarts, she has been worrying and worrying about what Hogwarts house she would be in. And finally, here she was sitting at the Ravenclaw table with her new Ravenclaw family.

Aria kept re-living her time with the sorting hat. The hat had remembered her family, and her father. It's true what they say, the sorting hat knows all. Aria was still lost in her thinking, and almost didn't hear Aston next to her speaking.

Aria, so what's your favorite color?

Aria looked up at Aston and gave an apologetic smile.

Blue. So I guess it's a good thing I was placed in Ravenclaw!

Aria took a moment to breath in the world around her, when she let out a big yawn.

Aston you're a second year right? You've done with before. Do you know how long it will be before bed time? I'm tired!

Aria put her head in her hand on the table. Usually she didn't put her elbows on the table or her mother would tell her off, but her mother isn't here now. She was all alone. Well, not alone, she was surrounded by her new friends. Her new family.
