I was wearing... well, an appropriate outfit for what I was doing. Like very often, but not as much as in first year, I was sitting down on a rock, near the lake, eyes on the pinkish sky. I could see the first stars appearing in the darkening sky. Watching the night sky helped me thing. Or more accurately, it helped me to not think about certain things. So, my outfit. I was wearing some dark brown pants, with a leather belt, with a large black shirt that had some sky-related golden embroideries. The weather could be described as quite chilly by some, but since I was used to it, I didn't bring a coat. Next to me was my little bag, in which I had put my wand and a book. I definitely wasn't going to read here, but I always had a book with me, just in case.

Stargazing had become a habit quite a long time ago. Before Hogwarts, night time was the only time I saw my father for obvious reasons. And since I still had to sleep at night, I didn't get to see him that much. It depended on the seasons, we saw each other more in winter than in summer. And together, we did a lot of chess, but we also went stargazing a lot. We sat down, near the estate's lake, in the gardens, or even somewhere on the roof. Wherever we were, we would look at the stars and he would teach me the sky. The stars' names, the constellations, the stories behind them. I always loved those nights. Since I never liked the sun, I started liking nighttime more and more, so much that during my first year in Hogwarts, I went out by the lake or on the Astronomy tower almost every night. After my father's death, I didn't watch the night sky until October. And since then, I stargaze once or twice per week, because I find it relaxing, and because it helps me focus.

Clair had not exactly had the best of year. She had given up her position as Prefect after her sister had begged her. The ravenclaw knew that her sister had only begged her to step away from the role because she worried for her safety, but she still felt it had been unnecessary.

Tonight she just needed to pause and think. Depression had set in shortly after stepping away from her role, she had pulled away from all her friends, rushing to classes and then back to her dorm. Tonight she felt she just needed fresh air. The Astronomy tower would have made a good spot to stargaze, however she didn’t feel like climbing up it, and she had lost track of whether there was a class going on up there or not. So the Great Lake was where she was headed. The dewy grass felt good underfoot. She was wearing a pair of black sandals, a flowy deep blue dress and her hair was held back by a matching headband. She hadn’t brought a book with her, only her wand which sat snugly in a small pocket she had sewn into her dress. She took a deep breath, the smell of the fresh night air was refreshing. She looked around unsure of where she wanted to sit, she definitely wanted the best stargazing spot possible.

As the sky became darker, more and more stars appeared in the almost cloudless deep blue immensity above me head. Hugging my knees up my chest, the blue of my hair almost touching the rock I was sitting on, my eyes were glued to the celestial vault. It was just me, the stars, and the fresh and calm wind. No thoughts, no worries, just me and the silence of nature. Behind me, the castle was falling asleep. Exams were over, everyone could just relax, summer holidays starting in a few days. I didn't want to go home, because I knew that I would get a lot of criticism from my mother. About everything and anything. But I didn't want to stay here either. Well, I could stay next to the lake, at night, alone, forever. But I didn't want to stay in the castle. Too much people, too much noise.
I was now laying down, my upper body on the rock, with my hands behind my head, and my lower body on the grass. It was more comfortable like this. The sky was pitch black now, the moon on her last quarter bright. I recognised stars and constellations. There was something about the timelessness of the night sky that I loved. I knew that the stars would always be there, I'll just have to look up. And maybe some of those pretty white dots exploded centuries ago, maybe I wont even get to see the explosion before I die. But from what I could see, from what I knew, the night sky was my safe place. An intemporal canvas, only trouble by the footsteps of another person... Lifting my head fast, I looked towards where the noise came from. It was Fernandez, walking around. She was not a prefect anymore, so I wouldn't get in trouble.

Clair was just starting to relax. Each step allowed the fresh night air to wash over her and remind her just why Hogwarts had enchanted her in the years prior. Depression couldn't be cured overnight, hell at this point she felt like she was stuck with it, an annoying little sibling she would need to tolerate until they found somewhere else to go. However, the calm stillness of the night was helpful, it allowed her to feel a little more like herself again.

She walked slowly, her steps softly crunching the grass underfoot. As a prefect it had been allowed, expected of her even, to walk around after curfew. She had used it to take late wanderings and hoped she did not find any stragglers. Now she was the straggler, hoping not to be caught.
As she came closer she noticed what looked like a girl to be by the lake. Another late-night wanderer, the third year debated ignoring the other girl, she wasn't in the mood to make up an excuse as to why she was outside. The Ravenclaw in her instead forced her to go check the girl out. It couldn't hurt to have a quick conversation, could it?

She cautiously walked over, letting her steps and a little louder so the girl would be aware of her arrival.
"Mine if I sit?" Clair asked as she came close enough to talk without the worry of prefects hearing.

I lead my head back again with a sigh, arms still crossed behind it. Footsteps grew louder, Fernandez was walking towards me. She probably saw me, but I didn't think she recognised me, even if we were in the same class. So why was she walking to me. Once she got to a reasonable distance, she said "Mind if I sit here?". I just shrugged and rolled my eyes. The lake was huge, but sure, come sit next to me if you want. I sat on the rock more properly, saying with a slightly annoyed voice "Sure." I turned around to face the lake, the stars were bright now, it was pretty.
Looking up, I wondered why she was here. I was usually alone down here, or up the Astronomy Tower. When I wanted to go up there and that someone was already present, I would je go outside. And if I saw someone outside, I would just go somewhere else outside. We all had our reasons to break curfew rules, and for me it was mostly my desire to be alone. And Fernandez was troubling that by being here, just next to me. Why was she here. I didn't want to talk, I just wanted her to leave. If she talked... I'll probably not answer and just leave myself. Depends on what she says.
