Finished Close enough to Mozart Pv

Linda decided to spend her second year in Hogwarts practicing more with piano. Perhaps she'll go back to guitar later, but for now it was piano. Hogwarts was always full of music, whether from some students like her, who came practicing their skills, or the new ones, who came to learn new skills. Perhaps it was some portraits that were mostly everywhere in this school. Or probably the castle itself was full of music and its own story. If only one was ready to listen.

Either way, this day Linda found herself going as usual lately to the Rehearsal room and once getting there, she started playing some melodies. Piano was always awesome. Expressing in its own way the feelings that were inside the player, it felt like private show, available to anyone who happened to be nearby.

Each melody was similar to a short history. Carrying the feeling and story, every new note sounds similar yet different from the previous one. Two people playing same notes can sound different simply because of the stories behind.

As she finished playing couple of songs, slightly increasing difficulty and speed in each one, Linda heard clapping. As she looked at the one who entered the room, she smiled. Thank you. Sorry, I didn't notice you there. I'm Linda Ramirez. What about you? Do you play some musical instrument?

Setting: Rehearsal Room

Ernest smiled as the girl addressed him, his toothy smile making him look more welcoming than just the stare he had before. The girl had such a true red hair that it made him think of pomegranates, his mind thinking of Persephone. “Nice to meet you, Linda.” He said, stepping closer to not have to raise his voice. He figured yelling throughout the room would not help his case in looking friendly. Perhaps it would do the opposite.

He crinkled his nose with a slight laugh as he answered her questions, “Me? I wish, I never had the means to learn any instruments, though I wish I knew how to play like you can.” He stepped forward, leaning across to present his hand to her to shake, “My name is Ernest.” He spoke in a light tone, trying to not interrupt anyone else trying to enjoy the peaceful nature of the room.

“What was that song you were just playing? It is one of my favorites that you play.” He said, thinking of the speedy but not demanding tone of her last song. She played it rarely but still often enough for him to have learned the difference between it and her others.

Linda smiled as she took his hand to shake. Nice to meet you too, Ernest. She thought about it for a second and spoke again. Which instrument do you want to learn? I could help you with guitar, piano or drums, especially handpan type of drums.

She liked piano this year more. Even if someone would ask her why, Linda knew she wouldn't be able to give answer. She played what her soul wanted to play and used guitar or piano accordingly.

With some practice you can learn to play. With some feelings, you can make it sound even better. She smiled. Her brother taught her every instrument she could now play so well. And she was enjoying times they played together, sometimes adding singing.

All songs I play most of the time are those I wrote as a hobby. The last one, what does it make you feel when you listen to it? That's what it's about. She smiled enthusiastically. That always was rather simple to know about what she played if one was willing to live through the melody.

Linda thought about his words and finally realized something. The way he was talking, it sounded like he was spending some time listening, before today he made a new step and actually started to talk to her. She smiled at this realisation. Surely Linda didn't play that quiet and it was highly expected that someone could hear it without even having to come inside. And she would never focus with it after finishing playing and going out of the room. The person could just walk away before her or she would simply be focused on getting somewhere else.

Ernest thought about the instruments he had heard throughout his life, from string instruments to drums and the like. He knew he liked the melodies of the piano, as he had been listening to all of the students who seemed to gravitate to the big grand piano in the rehearsal room.

He never dared to sit down in front of the piano himself, feeling as though he'd look like a fool to sit down when he didn't even know a simple note. Ernest would like to one day sit down and ease into a beautiful song, something that made him feel happy.

“I. . I think I would like to learn the piano if that is okay. I truly like how it sounds.” He admitted, stepping around so he could see her fingers on the keys. “I wouldn’t know where to start though, I can barely read sheet music.”

He felt kind of hopeless asking for help when he barely understood the notes and musical keys written on the sheet music prompt on the grand piano. He knew a treble clef, but that's because it is everywhere, so he couldn’t really count that as knowing anything. “Are you sure you’re willing to teach me?”

Linda smiled at his words. We are all starting from somewhere before we can do it in a perfect way. Surely I can teach you if you are willing to spend some time learning.

If Ernest would still be willing to learn playing piano, Linda would show notes on piano with her fingers, giving simple melodies as example and for better memorising. She then would ask him to try and then would start explaining keys on music sheet, so he could understand it.

Once you learn this, you can try to experiment with notes. Putting them in different order, different speed and volume, all will give you different temp and mood, letting you express something through it. Try to not just play notes, but also include your soul, your feelings in it. Then your melody will sound touching and more wonderful.

As she finished her explanation and advices she was interested how's it for Ernest. Do you want me to explain something else? You can ask if you need something I didn't talk about yet.

She smiled while playing quiet background melody. Expressing friendship and Hogwarts, Linda let the melody change its temp, volume, slowly going from first part to the next one. She almost didn't use music sheets for playing. However, she did need them when was playing something first time that she doesn't know.
