Okay, not too bad. At least Lallie wasn't laughing directly towards her. Though, the ability to speak Parseltongue must've been quite the joke. How funny and creative, really.

Millie turned towards the bathroom sinks, and looked around for the specific one. It seemed to switch and turn every single time. Finding the one sink with the snake on it was such a challenge. And not to mention that the snake was so small as to not cause other people to notice it. Salazar Slytherin was quite the brilliant man. No wonder he wanted ambitious and cunning students. They practically mimicked the man himself!

Turning towards the sink with the small snake on it, she shook away her thoughts. Maybe Slytherin wasn't a bad person, but what was she to know? Millie raised her wand and mumbled an incantation; "Lumos." Her golden-rose wand began shimmering beautiful light. She raised it to the top of her head and saw the snake more clearly. It was old and worn, just like the rest of the lavatory, but it seemed to be the same snake.

"I can open the Chamber, but we shouldn't go in," This was not only to protect the two girls from getting in trouble, but she didn't want Lallie to see what was in the Chamber. Luckily, the worst of it was hidden behind a locked door. "Don't wanna get caught." Without listening to Lallie, Millie leaned in to the worn snake, and focused on the scaly voice that left her mouth.

"Open." She sounded more like a snake than a human. Her naturally high voice filled with an American accent (or a British accent) was disgustingly low, and gargled. Weird.

Millie walked away from Lallie which worried her. What if Millie didn't accept her apology? Lallie felt like she deserved it, but she would hate leaving that impression on Millie. She rather likes Millie so it would be terrible if one of the only people she's had a crush on doesn't like her.

Lallie watched as Millie walked towards the sinks looking for something. Did she drop something? Wait, right she's a Parseltongue and she tried to open the Chamber of Secrets a couple of minutes ago. She probably is looking for the opening or something like that.

Maybe then she's not upset with Lallie? But why did she care so much about what this girl thought? She had always cared about what people thought of her, but not this much. She had to admit she had feelings for this girl, but she only just met her. Weren't you supposed to get to know people before you had feelings for them?

Looking at Millie's wand she saw that she had the same color wand as her, which meant they both had cheery woods. Lallie knew how rare it was for wizards to be chosen by cherry wood wands so it was cool they both had one.

It made sense Millie didn't want them to go in the Chamber. Whatever was down there could be dangerous, and it probably wouldn't bide well with the professors to see them exploring.

"Ok that seems reasonable, but why open it in the first place if we're not going to go in?" Lallie asked before realizing Millie wasn't paying attention. She then saw Millie's mouth move, but she didn't hear Millie's voice. Instead, she heard what sounded like a snake. She knew that Parseltongue was the language of snakes, but she didn't realize how it made your voice sound so warped.

There was some rumbling and Lallie took a few steps back as she heard that scraping sound again. She watched as the sinks shifted to form what could only be described as a giant pipe.

"Huh, I thought that the Chamber of Secrets would open a bit more secretly." Lallie thought aloud. There she went again making a joke out of the situation.

Slithering like a snake. Was that her ancestry? Snakes, murder, danger. Thank god she was born in the only sane part of the family. Even atoning it was a crime. There was nothing more for Millie to do as she stepped away from the opening chamber. The light emitted from her wand illuminated just a few of the many secrets the chamber contained. The dust that had collected over years and years, the snakes that were cut into the wall, every now and then, a bone would appear. No, it was not safe for the twelve-year old, but her curiosity was a sin. She had to atone for it.

Her amethyst eyes switched from the dark chamber, to Lallie. The other girl's hair was such a contrast, with it being a bright orange hue. She smiled loftily, before laughing. It was as such that Lallie could mistake it for a sob. There was nothing to be proud of, for opening the chamber. Millie almost thought that it was terrifying. But she was not a monster, as many people would think she was. She was such a young, innocent soul. What good was it that she was put amidst all this danger?

"I bet the Chamber would be such a lonely place to stay. Remember about the basilisk from both Lord Voldemort, and Harry Potter slash Gilderoy Lockhart. What a scam..." She trailed off, before picking right back up again. "I would love to spend my time exploring Hogwarts. It's beauty is so mesmerizing."

Lallie walked closer to the Chamber once it was done forming. She coughed and brushed away at the wave of smoke that was lifted into the air when the Chamber opened. Looking inside it she could tell that this was clearly the work of Salzar Slytherin, the number of snakes carved into this entrance was astonishing.

Lallie looked at Millie as she started laughing, or...crying? She didn't quite know which, but she understood it. She must be so confused about this whole thing. I mean the fact that most of the people who knew Parseltongue were Dark Wizards must make you feel like you were born evil. That's not true though, you get to choose whether you go to the Dark Arts, you're not born with that choice.

"Yea it was amazing how many things they were able to keep in the school without getting in trouble. There was the obvious Basilisk that has XXXXX classification, the most dangerous out of all beasts. I also recall them placing a giant three-headed dog in the school as well as a Devil's Snare and a mountain troll inside the third floor." Lallie said recounting all the things she could remember resided in this place.

She knew there was probably some things that were potentially harmful that the professors weren't telling us about, but she hoped it wasn't as much as they did a couple of decades ago.

"Yea exploring the grounds would be amazing. Who knows what you could find! Maybe we could explore it together?" Lallie said smiling. She would really like to explore the castle with Millie. It would be great to see what they would find, together.

Pulling her wand away from the Chamber, Millie closed her eyes. Her imagination was the strongest thing in the world. So she let it be free for only just a moment.

Exploring the Chamber, and finding a basilisk. Her body shaking as she knew there was certain death, but then, it seemed to listen to her thoughts, and become her closest friend. Her lips making no longer human noises, but just letting the snake noises they could. She couldn't even understand herself, but it seemed the basilisk could. Did they live forever? Waiting for more victims, expecting to be fed more often? Was Millie just the reincarnation of Voldemort? Hoping everyone dies and terror reigns? No. No it couldn't be, it wasn't true.

"It's not true!" Her voice, expecting to be hidden inside her brain, echoed in the real world. Loud, and clear. Hell, the whole of Scotland could hear it. Finally, she broke down.

She collapsed. Her legs buckling under the weight of her upper body. Everything coming to a crashing stop, as she let her wand roll. It stopped at the very opening of the Chamber. Millie started crying. Everything was over. There was nothing worth sitting here, in a world filled with evil, when the only good thought she could think of, was the orange-colored girl standing in front of her. How enchantingly sad.

Lallie looked over at Millie who seemed to be lost in thought. Was it too forward of her to tell Millie she would enjoy exploring with her? She only had just met the girl so it would make sense if she didn't want to.

'Dang, it Lallie you can never take things slow. Always have to push.' a voice in her head rang out. She hated when that voice came out but she always submitted to it. She didn't really know what else to do.

Suddenly she watched as Millie yelled before crumpling to the ground. Lallie ran to her and knelt down. She placed both of her hands on Millie's shoulders to steady her.

"Millie? What's wrong?" Lallie asked worriedly. She brushed Millie's hair out of her face and could see that she was crying. Watching her there broke her heart. She had no idea why she was crying, but she desperately wanted Millie not to. It was as if her brain prevented her from doing anything else but comfort her.

She felt the voice coming up stronger. 'See you made her cry. You're such a-' Lallie cut it off for once though. Millie was crying and Lallie needed to comfort her. Berating herself wasn't going to solve anything. Lallie didn't realize it but this girl that was currently sobbing in front of her had somehow cut through part of Lallie's inferiority complex. Something about Millie was more powerful to Lallie than that voice.

It was not true. No, Millie was not a monster. Ophelia had not been a monster, so there was nothing she could've inherited from her grandmother. And besides, she was dead! So what her second cousin and her great-aunts had been Voldemort supporters? That didn't make Millie a bad person... did it?

But she never had ill intentions, no. Why did it seem that she was trying to force herself into believing so. The worst thing she had done in her entire life, was something like argue back to her mom or dad. Not that she wanted to, but Millie had grown up learning to question authorial positions. Who was anyone to tell her what to do, or how to live her life? Anybody but her, it seemed. Was that how the real world worked? Everyone else told you what to do, and you got no say in it? Was her brain being a big 'ol bully?

Finally having the courage to open her eyes to see Lallie's eyes matched with her own amethyst ones. Millie opened her mouth to speak, but forming words was hard. After a moment of stuttering and mumbling, she finally had found the words she would be able to say.

"I'm- I'm sorry. I shouldn't be sitting her crying like some idiot."

Millie looked into Lallie's eyes and for that moment Lallie only felt her and Millie in the world. She could see into her amethyst eyes and see the sadness and confusion in her eyes. Lallie knew of that feeling. Confused about something so much and for so long that you just want to break down and cry.

Lallie wished she could understand Millie's situation more. She can't even imagine what Millie must be going through. Her parents, society, and herself too probably put so much pressure on Millie to meet their expectations and show them that she's not a Dark Wizard.

Society associates Parseltongue with Dark Magic since a lot of Parseltongue are Dark Wizards. That's not true though. You're not born a Dark Wizard, it's a path you take and things like Parseltongue don't influence that. Harry Potter was a Parseltongue and he was anything but a Dark Wizard.

"Millie, no, no, no! You're fine!" Lallie said shaking her head, "You shouldn't be sorry for crying. No one should be sorry for displaying a basic human emotion." One of Lallie's big morale beliefs is that no one should have to bury their emotions. If you want to cry, cry. No one should stop you from being human.

Stings.

Like bees, angry, hurtful. Painful, most of all. Millie had only been stung by a bee once, in her entire life. She had been small, and didn't remember the exact accident, but she remembered it hurt. Something else happened, and her mother, Naomi, ended up taking her to St. Mungo's. She had been allergic to bees, and their stings were life threatening to her. She had never been able to see a bee since. She didn't want to, either.

But the stinging feeling in her chest was close to the experience she had felt years and years ago. First, she was scared some bee had flown in and stung her, then, she realized how dumb that was. Seriously, she had the brain of a six-year old. Feeling Lallie still sitting there, watching her, it was extremely terrifying.

It would be nice to run away, to hide, or to just simply flee. She couldn't stand the thought of Lallie staring at her, while she felt like nothing more than a sheet of paper in the wind, flying with sheer terror. No, Lallie couldn't see her like that. The only thing Millie truly wanted, was to run.

"I-I need to go," She spoke, her voice shaking. "I-" Without finishing her sentence, Millie pushed herself away, turning towards the exit, she was not going to be okay.

Lallie just stared at Millie as she spoke her abrupt goodbye, stood up and left. She felt an emptiness as Millie left her sight. It felt as if a snake had latched on to her and stuck some of its venom into her, painful and numbing.

Why did she feel this way about this girl? She stayed sitting for a moment, thinking, before standing up and shuffling towards a sink. She quietly washed her hands at one of the working fountains, she had just been putting her hands on the dirty bathroom floor. She looked at herself in the mirror. She looked greyer than normal.

A couple of minutes ago there were butterflies in her stomach but now they've vanished away. She had been rejected many times in her life for many different things, this wasn't even the first time someone had pushed her away when Lallie was trying to comfort them. So why when Millie did that did it hurt so much?

She never really had feelings for anyone before. Is this what puberty's like? She grew up in a heteronormative society so sure she knew what the LGBTQ+ community was but she never really experienced it. Did she want to like girls? Was this a choice you got to make? Would her family accept her? She had no idea but she had to do what she came here to do in the first place.

Lallie walked out of the bathroom, failing to notice the Chamber of Secrets was closed again. Her thoughts were to busy racing for her to do that. She left for the Charms classroom, to ask Professor Henley about the homework assigned.
