Matilde woke up one December morning as sun had fully risen, but there was still a bit of orange and pink left over in the sky from sunrise. Drawing open the yellow curtains beside her bed, she peaked outside. The grounds were covered in a white blanket, though the snow was so deep it really looked more like a mattress. It must have snowed again just last night.
Matilde usually spent the majority of her weekend outside. When she wasn’t exploring the grounds, she was cozied up in her Hufflepuff dorm, or in the library. On a day like today, she would usually have enjoyed the latter two, but the fresh snow seemed to be calling her.
The young witch bundled up in her warmest pullover, quilted jacket, and Hufflepuff scarf. She grabbed a piece of toast from the Great Hall and headed outside.
After trudging around in the snow for a bit, she got an idea. She should make a snowman! Matilde picked up a handful and squished it together. Then she rolled it along the ground, forming a bigger ball. When it had reached a size almost too big for her to lift, she set it down. She decided the middle one should be about beach ball sized, and the smallest like a quaffle. Snowmen were always more fun to make with others. Matilde looked around to see if any of her friends were around. She didn’t see any pictures f her friends, but she did noticed a girl, walking towards her.

Reyna had lost her cat once again. It seemed to be a regular thing for Reyna, she had lost her cat in the fall, and not again. However, her losing her cat had made her gain a new friends so Reyna was hoping for something just like this.
Reyna however, did not expect her to get involved with something else. As she ran around calling out for her cat she saw a young girl, younger than her so clearly a first year. She was building a snowman. It was actually a pretty snowman. No one else seemed to be around this early in the morning. So she decided that she would go up to the girl and ask her if she had seen the cat.
Likely the answer would be no, but Reyna really just needed a break. So she stopped. And went up to the girl. "Hey! I'm Reyna Evergreen, but um... I was just wondering... have you seen a cat? It looks kind of silver, it has a collar with a name that says Argentum. Its hyperactive and acts like a dog?" I asked.
I hoped that she could make my life easier by saying yes and pointing in the direction. However, what I didn't expect something else to happen. Something that would make me question a lot of things and help a young girl discover herself. All by accident due to one hyperactive, missing cat.𝓜𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼: @Matilde O’Fionnagan❄

The girl coming toward her was without a doubt a fellow Hufflepuff, Matilde decided, noticing her yellow and black scarf and hat. She wasn't sure if she'd seen her before, and they definitely didn't share any classes. Maybe she was a second or third year?
The girl introduced herself as Reyna. "Hi," the first year replied somewhat shyly. "I'm Matilde, Matilde O'Fionnagan." She listened to Reyna's predicament, and description of her cat thoughtfully. She almost giggled at the description of it being like a dog, but thought that would be rather insensitive given the situation."I don't believe I've seen your cat, I'm sorry..." Matilde frowned, wishing she could be of more help. She knew how stressful it was when pets went missing. "I can help you look if you want?" Matilde offered. If she were being honest with herself, the young witch didn't think she was going to be too much help. She wasn't really known for being the best at looking for things. She was prone to getting distracted. But two pairs of eyes were better than one, right?
Matilde had no idea how helpful she was going to be. And it had nothing to do with her less than amazing seeking skills...

Reyna was already stressed out enough. The girl had introduced herself as Matilde. That was a nice name. "Nice name, and nice snowman!" she said.
However the bad this was the girl hadn't seen her cat. She sighed. This day was turning out worse than she thought. At least last time it had been a bit quicker. But the good news was that this girl, another Hufflepuff she figured by the Hufflepuff scarf she was wearing was offering to help. Reyna smiled for the first time. Thank the gods. A little kindness was what she needed. She was tired and hungry. And she wanted her cat.
"Thank you so much Matilde, that would be really helpful! It seems I lose her often, as the same thing happened in fall previously," she replied.
She led her along a path and began to call her name, "Argentum! Genie! Where are you?" She called out. Then she stopped. "Well I guess I never told her I call her Genie. It's her nickname I guess. We can try some bushes?" she added.
Reyna then continued walking, checking every bush, wishing something could come out of this cat excursion. Or at least a cat would come out of the bushes and run to her like a naughty little girl. But nope. She sighed again. She took a deep breath and then stared at Matilde. "Anything?" she asked her even though she knew the answer for herself.𝓜𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷𝓼: @Matilde O’Fionnagan❄
