Our rp before : The First Journey to Hogwarts

That was it, the journey in the Hogwarts Express was over. Dove was a bit sad, and if it was up to her, she would stop the time for a moment to enjoy a little the moment when she was still in the train with her friend, Daniel. Besides, he was next to her, as silent as she was. The irish girl couldn't speak because of the stress that was growing into her throat. Usually, she would stop for a moment, close her eyes and take a long breathe to calm herself. However, she couldn't stop walking because she was following the other studentsw, heading to Hogwarts. She was just breathing slowly while walking. It worked a little, but not enough to continue talking with her friend. The castle was standing in front of her, bigger than she expected.

"I'm never going to stop getting lost."

Ho ! She just talked. And a bit loud, maybe her friend heard it. She looked again at the school. The night falled, and the only light she could see was from Hogwarts. This was a beautiful landscape and was grateful to her parents to be wizards. Muggles really miss something not being able to live this in their strange world. She told her thoughts to Daniel. The stress was decreasing and she was able to talk as she used to before.

"We really are lucky to see this. Well, I don't know if it's luck but not everyone can live this just like us.

When she finished talking, she bumped into someone. She whispered a "sorry" and looking towards her. Everyone stopped, and for a reason, they were about to enter in the school of her dreams. She took a quick look at Daniel, but the students began to walk again so she had to look forward to avoid bumping into someone else.
A few minutes later, they were climging the stairs of Hogwarts, to finally be in front of the door which was leading to the Great Hall. The person who was heading them started talking to the students, but Dove wasn't really listening. She would ask Daniel if something said was important. She couldn't wait to enter, and knowing which house she was getting in.
When the enourmous doors finally open, Dove's eyes when getting big, she looked at the scenery in front of her. The Hall was full of student older than her, divided in four long tables, all talking between them. At the back, the teachers seemed more silent, but from were she was, she couldn't be sure about it. When all the first years arrived in the Great Hall, everybody stopped talking, and they were all listening to a man, the Headmaster of Hogwarts.

As the train stopped and he got off behind the other first-years, who were heading toward the castle, there was excitement, almost with a touch of nervousness, swirling inside him. The journey ahead weighed gently upon his shoulders, though he kept the calm expression intact as his mind raced. Dove walked beside him in silence, and though he could sense her unease, he didn't speak, respecting the quiet moment they both seemed to need.

Breaking the awkward silence with a soft comment on getting lost, he felt, Daniel offered her a small, reassuring smile. After all, that feeling wasn't alien to him either. There loomed Hogwarts in front of them, with its high spires and acres upon acres of grounds, very awe-inspiring, and a little intimidating. As they approached the castle, ancient walls lit up against the night sky sent shivers down his spine.

Dove spoke again, and this time, it seemed the words hit a truer mark with Daniel. He nodded now, looking toward the castle with gratitude and a sense of wonder. "Yeah, it's something special," he replied, his voice steady but tinged with the same sort of awe she expressed. He just couldn't imagine life without magic, without a world they were about to fully enter.

Coming onto the grand staircase that winded up to Hogwarts' entrance, Daniel caught his breath. So huge and overwhelming was the castle that, for one moment, it seemed that he lost his head to thoughtfulness of all those students who had trod these selfsame steps, each with their own hopes and fears.

The massive doors to the Great Hall finally opened in front of him, and this time, the sight that met his view made Daniel's eyes open wide with wonder. The huge chamber was even more magnificent than he had imagined, with its enchanted ceiling glowing with reflections of the night sky above and the four house tables stretching out before him. The older students quieted their chatter at their entry, and Daniel felt hundreds of eyes upon him and his fellow first-years.

Standing among the other new students, Daniel tried to steady his breathing. His heart pounded against his chest. He caught a glimpse from Dove before they were ushered forward. The anticipation was almost unbearable, but beneath the nervousness was a deep-seated excitement. This was the moment they had been waiting for: the Sorting Ceremony. Within minutes, they would finally know where they truly belonged within these ancient walls.

As soon as the Headmaster started off, Daniel listened with all ears, but the thought of the Sorting Hat was not quite allowing him to do so. He was thinking of where he would end up, where Dove would be sorted, and what lay in the future at Hogwarts for them. Whatever may be the case, Daniel knew this was merely the start of an unforgettable adventure.

Aria was dazed. It had been such a long day. She had said goodbye to her family on platform 9 3/4, boarded the Hogwarts Express, and arrived at Hogwarts. Aria watched as all the other first years as they entered the Great Hall for the famous Sorting Ceremony, but something caught the corner of Aria's eye. There was a beautiful painting of Anne Bolyen, one of King Henry's six wives. Aria had heard rumors that she was a witch, but Aria didn't know that she actually attended Hogwarts! Without even realizing, Aria started walking towards the painting, away from the other first years. Once she arrived at the painting, Anne Bolyen winked at her. Aria giggled to herself. Moving paintings weren't unusual for Aria, since she grew up in a wizard's home. She kept staring at the painting, wondering if she would someday have a painting of herself on the walls of this castle.

Only if I get perfect grades of course.

Aria looked behind her, snapping back into reality. All the first years were already in the Great Hall standing in the front of the room. Aria ran into the Great Hall. Not all the other students were seated, but it was still pretty embarrassing. She kept her head down and felt her cheeks go red. Aria only lifted her head to look around for a place to squeeze in with the other first years who were standing in the front of the hall. Her eye caught a boy and a girl standing next to each other. Aria opened her mouth to ask if she could squeeze next to them, but the Sorting Ceremony had started, so she stood next to them anyways. She smiled at the boy next to her, then directed her attention to the front of the room.

Daniel remained quiet in the Great Hall and only walked around, his eyes settling to keep it all in calmly. The grandeur did not seem to press in on him but gave him a sense of belonging. He grew up listening to tales about Hogwarts, although his parents appeared mysteriously vague about some aspects of the school—especially the Sorting Ceremony.

As the first years reached the front of the hall, Daniel's eyes turned to the old hat on the stool. It was exactly as he had seen it in the illustrations; he could hardly believe it, though, when the brim twitched. The next moment, the hat was talking.

Dan's eyes widened in shock for a moment as he realized that the Sorting Hat could talk. He had thought that a magic or test was going to take place, or maybe even a choice, in complete silence, but surely this couldn't be it. A small smile was tagging at his mouth—he would have to remember to ask his parents later why they left this detail out.

He remained undeterred. He observed the rest of the ceremony with huge interest. Watched how the hat seemed to argue with itself about balancing the different qualities of each student before declaring their house. He was intrigued but not worried- just very sure in this silence that he would be sorted into where he belonged.

He turned around as a girl came rushing into the hall, flushed, and quickly moved into line behind him and Dove. Daniel didn't miss the small embarrassment in her expression, a means to fit in the group, but what caught his eye was the determination in her eyes. She smiled briefly in his direction before she turned to the front again, and Daniel shelved the thought for later. He would make time to know his classmates once the ceremony was over.

The Sorting Hat, undeterred, continued calling out names and announcing houses, but Daniel was unfazed, his head suddenly feeling very clear. He wondered what this hat might see in him, what features it would place as first and foremost, and then how it would get on with the matching of a house to him. Yet he was ready for anything.

Daniel waited for his turn in anticipation, knowing very well that when it happened, the Sorting Hat would make the right choice. Nothing much really bothered him with the prospect of the outcome, and he was so excited to see what the hat came to say concerning him.

Dove was listening to the Headmaster, who proceeded his speech, saying that all the students were about to have the Sorting hat upon their head. Of course, after this the Sorting Hat sang his song. Wait, did he just sing ? Even if she knew that he was the one who chose the house of everybody, the simple fact of seeing this object talking impressed her. After this, the first students were called to sit down on the little chair under the hat. She took a quick look to Daniel and saw him smiling a bit. "He may have been impressed by the Hat too." She thought. During the first students, who sometimes were discussing with the hat to go to their wished house, when some people just stayes silent, Dove looked around her and noticed a girl she had not seen before, standing next to Daniel. She was quite small, maybe like her, and her brown wavy hair matched with her eyes. She seemed nice, but maybe she wouldn't go to the same house as her, and then, maybe she won't see her again, Hogwarts was so big. She would love to talk to her, but would she dare to ? Well, after her meet with Daniel, she learned that she wasn't that shy after all. So, discreetly of course, she moved and sneekef into the girl and her friend.

"Psssst, My name is Dove, what about yours-"
"CULLEN DOVE"

Her blood ran cold, and she couldn't stop her sentence. She forgot her name started with a C, so she was at the beginning of the first years' list. She started walking towards the stool, while turning her head for a second to see Daniel. She hopes that nobody was seeing her shaking. She sat on the chair and felt the Sorting Hat on her head.
Even if she wanted to, she couldn't hear what he was saying about her, because she thought about were she was going to be. Her mother was a Slytherin and her father a Ravenclaw. Of course, it can seem stupid but she didn't want to got to another house, because she didn't want to disappoint her parents. She also knew, deep down, that she wasn't a Slytherin like her mom, so she couldn't stop whispering "Please Ravenclaw, please Ravenclaw."

You really want to go to Ravenclaw, don't you ?

The voice of the sorting hat brang her back to reality. She still could not speak but she knew that the Hat didn't need an answer.

Well, I can see you are interested in learning, and that you have the cleverness of your father, even if I can see a little part of self-preservation, taht comes from your mother.

Really ? She didn't think she was a bit selfish...

But anyway, I think I spoke enough, you will have a great time as a RAVENCLAW !

Dove breathed a sigh of relied and joined with a lot of joy the tables where the cheers were louder. During her way, she tried to look at Daniel, but she couldn't see him in this big crowd.
Now that she sitting were she belonged to be, she just crossed her fingers and hoped that her friend would go to the same house.

Aria was trying to facing her full attention to the front of the Great Hall, but their was so much going on in this Great Hall. She was turning all around. She first noticed the magically enchanted ceiling that her mother had told her about, then she looked at the teacher's table in the front of the room.

Those wizards will be my teachers. Stand up straighter Aria. First impressions are extremely important.

Aria turned around again and stared at the four long tables, decorated with the colors of each Hogwarts house. There was red and gold for Gryffindor, black and yellow for Hufflepuff, Green and Silver for Slytherin, and then there was the white and blue for Ravenclaw. Aria's entire family bloodline had been sorted into Ravenclaw. All Aria wanted to do was make her family name proud, and follow in their footsteps, and become a Ravenclaw too. Aria was so lost in her thoughts and the beauty of this grand room, she almost didn't notice a girl that was standing next to her, trying to talk with Aria.

Psssst, My name is Dove, what about yours-

But before Aria could even form a thought about this girl, a booming voice called her name.

DOVE CULLEN!

Aria glanced at the girl who had tried to talk to her. She looked like a Dove. The girl was very pretty, with long black hair. Aria could tell that she looked terrified as Dove walked up to the front of the room, where the famous sorting at laid. It had only taken a short amount of time until the sorted hat had screamed the word:

RAVENCLAW!

Aria held her breath. It was AGONY having to wait for all the other first years to get sorted. Aria looked to the boy next to her, wondering what he would be placed in.

While the rest of the Sorting Ceremony continued, Daniel calmly stood to the side, watching quietly out of interest. Little did anyone know, the boy came open-minded, knowing whatever decision the Sorting Hat had in his case, he would take it in his stride and make his own way around Hogwarts.

Finally his name was called.

DANIEL SPECTOR!

He ambled over to the stool, sat, and felt the weight of the Sorting Hat settle upon his head. The voice within the hat did seem to cogitate for a second, then spoke:

"Ah, a Ravenclaw, you say? Sharp mind with a curiosity burning bright at the core of the flame, yet calm and adaptive. Very well, Ravenclaw it is.".

As the Sorting Hat was being whisked away, Daniel relocated to the Ravenclaw table. He looked around at the grandeur of it all—this was, after all, the Great Hall. He was most impressed by the enchanted ceiling above them. Through its shimmering stars and drifting clouds, the ceiling imitated an open clear sky. It was this magnetic magical attribute he had read in Bathilda Bagshot's book, Hogwarts, A History, that only further enhanced the enchantment of the hall.

He saw Dove already seated, waving toward him with a bright smile. Back at him, Daniel replied with another look of his self-assurance smile. That was good, to see a familiar face, and to feel a sense of belonging as he settled into his new house.

Daniel sat down beside Dove and nodded amiably at her as he did so. His gaze wandered around at all of the activity that was going on at the Ravenclaw table, but it ended up back on Dove once more.

"Hey, Dove," Daniel said quite relaxed and friendly. "Hey, it's nice to see you! How are you feeling now that the Sorting's over?"

Dove just smiled all the more as he approached so very friendly. Daniel went on, "I must say, the Great Hall's more wonderful than I'd ever thought it was going to be. Did you see the bewitching ceiling? Isn't it just something?

In talking, Daniel was so relaxed and friendly that Dove unwound, able to have a good time at the feast and company of her new housemates. For Daniel, he liked his comfort of familiarity, knowing that the adventures and companions about to ensue in Ravenclaw were just within reach.

When she sat at the Ravenclaw table, Dove looked around her. It was very big, and full of students from the Eagles's house. Wait, just like her now ! She will wear the blue uniform, the same one she saw on old pictures of her dad during his studies at Hogwarts. He would be so proud of her ! She couldn't wait to send them an owl to tell them all of this. But now, if this evening wants to be perfect, then it has to include one, no. Two things : Daniel being at Ravenclaw, as well as the girl she still doesn't know the name. Damn, she would be very lucky if both of them went to the same house as her.
Finally, the name of Daniel has been pronounced, and now she just waited until the answer of the Sorting Hat. He didn't seem very stressed, or maybe she just couldn't really see it from the table.

"Very well, Ravenclaw it is." said the Sorting Hat.

Wait... Ravenclaw ? Really ? Ravenclaw ? Daniel, in the same house as her, during seven whole years ! She stood up and appleased just like the other one did, sat down and waves at her friend with a big smile. She felt like a big ball left her heart, what a relief !
When Daniel asked her how she felt after the sorting, she smiled more and said :

"I think it will be hard to be more happy than I am right now. I cannot believe we are the same house !"

She saw Daniel smile more, which made her smile of course, while talking of the great house's ceiling.

"Yes, she said, it is way more beautiful than I expected. It's amazing to see that with our eyes, it's better than in the pictures I've seen. Dan, I think, no, I am sure I will spend the best years of my life at Hogwarts with you as my friend, my best friend !"

Sorting Hat Speaking

It was actual TORTURE having to watch all her other first years get sorted into their different houses. Aria's nails were starting to bleed because of how much she had been biting them. WHY did her name have to start with 'W'! Aria's stomach sank even deeper every time a house was called. She wanted, no, NEEDED to be Ravenclaw! Aria was paying full attention to the front of the room, but her stomach still exploded when she heard:

Wright, Aria!

Aria was very careful in every step she took. She didn't want to fall over or something! Once Aria reached the front of the Great Hall and sat on the stool, the only thing that she could think about is how she NEEDED to be Ravenclaw. To make her family proud, but most importantly, her father who was probably watching her from above right now.

This is for you dad.

Ah yes, Nicholas Wright.

Aria had almost forgotten that the sorting hat could listen to her thoughts.

Time to make him proud young girl. I think I'll put you in...

Aria held her breath and felt her chest tighten...

RAVENCLAW!

Finally, FINALLY, Aria could breathe again. She felt like screaming and crying and throwing up all at once. Aria felt like she was walking on rainbows to her seat at the Ravenclaw table. That's when she noticed the girl that had tried to talk to her earlier. Aria walked over to her and sat down.

Uh... hey! My name is Aria. Sorry you got cut off earlier... what's your name?

Aria could barely even feel the tear going down her face.

Dove was talking with Daniel, always with a big smile. Would she be able to stop smiling ? Yes, of course, but this night, maybe not. She was saying to her friends how she couldn't wait to wear her Ravenclaw uniform when someone sat next to her and said asked for her name while telling hers.
Dove looked at her and recognised the girl she wanted to talk with ! Decidedly, this night really was perfect.

"Hi Aria ! I'm Dove. You cannot believe how much I am happy to see that we are in the same house !"

She felt like her heart was going to explode. To much happiness in such a small body. She wanted to enjoy this evening at its maximum. She looked at the first years who were still waited for their names to be pronounced, and realized that there was only a few people left. Good, that meant that they would eat the dinner soon.

"I don't know about you, but I always have wanted to see the food appearing no the tables. My parents told me it's very good, so I cannot wait to taste it !"

She looked at the candles which were floating above them. Everything here was magic, in the true sense of the term, but also in the figurative sense. Finally, the last person has been called, and ended up in Slytherin.
The Headmaster wished them a nice meal and the food started to appear on the table. All of it looked so tasty so she grabbed a whicke thigh and ate it in not a very clean way. Her cheeks went red and looked around for a napkin, but she couldn't find one. How embarassing, she just met someone and the first picture she would see of her was the fact that she couldn't eat like a normal person !
Dove sighed, tired of herself and decided to eat something else than chicken for the rest of the meal. Yes, that could be better.
