The Gryffindor Table 2018-2019
Lucian nodded with slight distain as the girl introduced her; introductions had always been something Lucian found high value in, and to not have the chance to introduce herself was frustrating to her. However, the cool look on her face never faltered, giving away nothing. "Maggie is correct, my name is Lucian Grey." She firmly shook the hand of the newcomer, before hearing Maggie exclaim,
"If I'm being perfectly frank," Lucian began nonchalantly, "I know absolutely nothing about you. I know you name, your house, but that is all. It would be preposterous for me to accept your offer." She chuckled to herself, pouring herself a cup of steaming hot coffee. "However, I'm flattered. That is very sweet of you to offer."
She kept her tone very formal, but kind, carefully picking and choosing her words from the expansive assortment that made up her vocabulary. Lucian had always prided herself on her eloquent speech, and maintained it through excessive reading.
"I would be so inclined as to get to know you more, however; we are in the same hour, after all. I expect we will be seeing a lot of each other."
Lucian was ultimately entirely taken aback by this. She had just met this girl, didn't know anything about her other than her name. This immediately became a red flag to her, a display of eleven year old naivety, something she didn't ever look for in an ally."Do you all want to be friends?"

The Gryffindor Table 2018-2019
OOC: Sorry for the beast of a post. Little Miss Ego wanted to react to everything
The company here was diverse to say the least. Yet nobody seemed to fit the prejudices Mira was raised to have against Gryffindors, neither the hopes she started to have for them when she realised she was one.
"I'm a first year, yes. However, I feel like I've been here forever."
The girl who reacted first definitely didn't have any of the famous Gryffindor energy. She seemed tired of it all, and she sighed before commenting only this. To Mira. She couldn't help but raise an unimpressed eyebrow. Passive aggression? Really? That was her mother's style and Mira had way too much of that. She never understood the point. Passive aggressive people seemed to assume others cared, so why not give them some barely hidden crap? Or something like, 'I have a problem, I'll definitely let you know, but I don't want a solution'. Mira reacted only with a slightly bored "Mhm." She won't play this game, she rather turned to the other girl.
“Yup.” “That’s Galton,”
The girl who started to introduce everybody seemed happier. She and the boy she pointed to looked somehow younger, but it was just the impression she had. We'll see. Mira nodded toward the guy. He looked like someone who could use a little makeover, but he might be fun, so she decided to be nice. She smiled as she confidently extended her hand for him to shake. "Hi!"
“And she’s Lucian?” “And I’m Maggie, Maggie Parker.”
Mira looked back at the girl in the bad mood. She didn't seem very happy that she was introduced. Well, she can do something about it if she wants. For now she only registered the info with a nod. "Nice to meet you Maggie," she shook the brunette girl's hand as well in a firm but friendly manner.
"Maggie is correct, my name is Lucian Grey."
There we go. Lucian, or the 'Pretty Dementor' as Mira decided to call her for now, didn't show much interest in her, but she seemed very much to care about how she herself was presented. Did she underestimate Mira, yet still care about what she thought? Interesting. She offered Mira a hand and she had to remind herself not to start a conflict. Maybe Lucian only had a headache. She accepted her hand and shook it just a tad firmer as Lucian initially did. She also had to remind herself not to make it a competition should she decide to tighten her grasp. Just maybe keep it even?
“Do you all want to be friends?”
Mira's eyes widened in surprise. What? Right now? What made her decide on the timing? She was so surprised, it was Lucian who reacted first and honestly, Mira wanted to see what her answer would be. It might be amusing.
"If I'm being perfectly frank... I expect we will be seeing a lot of each other."
She didn't disappoint. Mira had to give it to her, she had style. Style was something she appreciated in both friends and enemies. For now, she was a bit surprised. She spoke so much like her mother, Mira could offer a translation: "You didn't impress me much, but it wouldn't be useful for me to make you hate me." It was hard for her to resist her conflict loving nature and not to actually say it out loud. Mira was raised to talk like this, to handle matters like this. She was good at it, in theory, but when she was actually emotionally involved, manipulative, polite talk didn't satisfy her. She preferred to speak in a direct manner. "Too soon." was her version of the same answer. "Sorry," she added to avoid hurting Maggie's feelings too much "I prefer to get to know people before I decide where I stand with them."
She realised her behaviour might have been misleading. Mira was an extrovert, she could talk to strangers like she had known them forever, but that didn't mean anything more than that. Lucian's manner however piqued her interest. She didn't accept her initial behaviour, but meh, it was better than boredom. "You talk like my mother." she commented in a conversational tone. "If I didn't see your robes, I'd think you're a Slytherin."

The Gryffindor Table 2018-2019
Maggie had just been rejected. Twice. she couldn’t tell if saying that she didn’t understand was arrogant or not, but, to be frank, she didn’t really care if it was. Maggie would’ve said yes if someone else had asked her. She could tell that Mira and Lucian meant no harm, but a small voice in the back of her head told her that it was her fault. She shouldn’t of been so excitable and outgoing, and— she squashed the voice with a confident grin and pulled herself back to the real world.
”You talk like my mother." Mira commented in a conversational tone. "If I didn't see your robes, I'd think you're a Slytherin."
Maggie couldn’t help but agree. Lucian had seemed, well, cold in Maggie’s opinion. She spoke like she was taking to a bunch of adults or teachers, not a couple of eleven-year olds. All in all, she seemed like someone Maggie should put on her “Do Not Prank Or They’ll Kill You” list. She didn’t doubt that Lucian knew about a billion more spells than she did, and not just because Maggie was a muggleborn. Back home, she was permanently labeled as the “class clown” which directly translated to “complete idiot”. While Maggie enjoyed the title, and, admittedly, sometimes found idiots endearing, she had no intention of becoming the “idiot” again, though she would more than happily be labeled as a class clown. That’s why Lucian interested her, she seemed like Maggie’s polar opposite. Mira seemed nice enough, even though she rejected Maggie, and she would’ve liked to be friends with her.
“Slytherins are the ones with the green robes, right?” Maggie asked...

The Gryffindor Table 2018-2019
Galton sat back and let the onslaught of introductions proceed while he watched closely. There was certainly no way this was an excuse to fill his belly just a tad more, pecking at his custard tart between moments he needed to smile or make eye contact. The three girls were really going at it. The topic of friendship seemed to be a strangely large miss with the other two. "Rather boring that lot is." he thought to himself. Whether the girls had meant to be rude or not, it certainly wasn't the answer he had expected. Then again, they hadn't been eating much sweats, and with this type of cornucopia of sugar in front of them he was sure they must be ill, not partaking and all.
He let the conversation proceed a bit until finding the right second to interject. "Yeah! They're green just like their house animal, a snake!" Galton raised his hands to his face, sticking a finger out on both and placing them face down next to his mouth. He opened it and hissed at Maggie, turning his head to the other two as his hiss faded out. Then he smiled, moving his hands back down. "And I want to be friends! I'm sure we will convince these two to join us as well." He tried his best for a wink to Maggie, but it came out as more of a squint with one eye.

Maggie burst out laughing when Galton had immitated a snake, sticking his fingers out next to his mouth. She was glad that someone had wanted to be friends with her. She decided that she liked Galton when he failed to wink at her, the product being him squinting at her like a maniac. Her giggles only increased at this, and soon he joined in with her.
“You look like a bloody maniac Galton!” Maggie laughed, obviously not aiming for the comment to be an insult. “Hey, I have an idea... do you want to prank someone with me?” Maggie asked, a mischievous twinkle in her eye. “It’d be loads of fun!” Maggie paused for a moment only to continue, “Plus, I think you could give someone a good scare with your snake impression. Bloody terrifying, that is.” Maggie laughed loudly at her own joke, waiting for Galton’s response...

The Gryffindor Table 2018-2019
Lucian watched the Gryffindors interactions closely, keeping a keen eye on their behaviors, smirking complacently to herself. They were all so different, yet seemed to fit together quite well, something that secretly made Lucian question her house placement for what felt like the thousandth time that week.
"Don't worry," She chuckled. playing with the Gryffindor emblem on her robes. She had thought that by now she would have somewhat more of an understanding of why she had been placed here; however, she was still just as lost as she had been during the Sorting Ceremony. "Everyone tells me that, I completely understand." She couldn't let slip her own thoughts on the Sorting, and despite everything rushing through her head, she showed none of it on the exterior.
"However, there must've been a reason I was placed here. I may not be as keen to socialize as the rest of you, but I trust the process." She winked confidently, crossing her legs on the bench and holding her warm coffee cup in her lap, warming her hands.
Mira said to her, and Lucian couldn't help but chuckle, finding the timing of her comment humorous. It wasn't as if that's what she and everyone else had been thinking for the entirety of Lucian's time here at Hogwarts."If I didn't see your robes, I'd think you're a Slytherin."

The Gryffindor Table 2018-2019
After being placed in Gryffindor, Alyssa walked slowly towards the first year students who had already been sorted. She took a seat and stared at the rest of the ceremony, her tongue felt like cotton, she was unable to take part in the pleasantries. Her eyes settled on the professors at the table. They all seemed to enjoy the sorting.
Soon the sorting was over, the headmaster had announced that the feast would begin after a few words were shared with the school students. She stared at the golden goblet in front of her. She wondered whether it would help her to settle some of her worries, a soft frown formed on her brow, she felt unsettled and wished that she had brought her books along. They always had a way of making her feel better.
A glorious feast appeared in front of all the students as the headmaster uttered his last words. It was fascinating, there was more food than she had ever seen in her life. She had once read a historical book about muggle cultures, she wondered what they would have thought of a feast like this. A soft smile formed on her lips as she poured herself some juice. A warmth had swept over her. The mood around the table seemed to lighten her worries, even if it was only momentarily.

Loneliness followed her around like an old friend ready to receive her.

Anyone can join in if they would like! @Ziba Soames especially!
Maggie strode into the Great Hall, passing the Hufflepuff table and waving to her friends who sat there. It seemed that she had come in somewhat late, as the Gryffindor table was already filled up and somewhat crowded. The voices of students filled the room and made it seem like the crowd was much larger than it seemed in the first place. She grinned at a few of her friends as she passed by them and sat down in a random spot at the Gryffindor table, too hungry to care who she sat next to in the first place. She was absolutely ravenous, and breakfast could not have come sooner in her opinion. She quickly grabbed a steaming hot muffin from a bowl in front of her and shoved it into her mouth, not really caring about the fact that she looked like an animal. Her eyes widened when the temperature of the muffin registered, and she quickly swallowed it. “Ow! That’s hot, bloody hell!” She stuck her tongue out and began fanning it with her hand, the burning sensation still ever-present on her tongue. She was completely aware that she probably looked like a complete idiot, but she was fine with it. She glanced to her fellow Gryffindor who sat next to her...
Feel free to jump in as the “fellow Gryffindor” if you would like to!

The Gryffindor Table 2018-2019
Ziba had awoken especially hungry this morning. So hungry, she swore she must have dreamt about a great feast, much like their first night in the castle. What she would give to experience a meal like that again. That thought alone had her getting up out of bed right quick to head down for breakfast.
The house-elves that work in the kitchens truly never disappoint. The Gryffindor table was lined with delicious hot meals, the steam rolling off the dishes in tantalizing swirls. Ziba was unashamedly drooling as she sat down and tucked in. Her eyes darted from plate to plate, unsure whether to start with the fresh blueberry crepes to her left or the chocolate banana pancakes to her right. She ended up taking heaps of both.
As Ziba happily munched away, another student sat down next to her. A quick look to her side told her it was a girl in her year, though her name wasn't immediately coming to mind. The blueberries were distracting. Ziba went back to enjoying her meal until she heard the girl yell out in pain. Apparently, the muffins were still too hot. The poor girl sat there, trying to fan her tongue and looking kind of sad quite honestly, when they made eye contact.
Ziba tried to swallow her food before speaking but in her haste to make conversation with the girl, the food ended up going down the wrong tube. Ziba lurched forward in a coughing fit, her body shaking with the effort to find oxygen again. Her throat burned as it fought to clear a path for both air and berries. The sound of her coughing seemed to echo around the hall. She was sure she was making quite a scene. She couldn't believe breakfast was going to be her downfall. The damn blueberries betrayed her.
So there they were, two Gryffindor girls, one with a burnt tongue, the other coughing up a lung. If they weren't the coolest kids at this table, Ziba didn't know who was.
When her coughing finally died down, Ziba turned back to muffin girl slightly hunched over and out of breath, her voice deep and scratchy. "Mornin'."

The Gryffindor Table 2018-2019
The girl beside Maggie didn’t seem to be doing much better than she was. While Magggie had been frantically fanning her tongue, the girl next to her had seemed to swallow something down the wrong tube, and the two sat there, one couching up a storm, the other fanning her tongue, looking like madmen. “Mornin’” the girl said, and Maggie didn’t have an idea why, but she couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Her laughter seemed to echo throughout the Great Hall, drawing attention to the two girls, but Maggie didn’t care. She was a Gryffindor after all, wasn’t she? Maggie finally stopped laughing and was able to respond to the girl, “Morning! I’m Maggie, Maggie Parker.” she felt that her outburst of sudden laughter needed no explanation, so she pretended like it had never happened in the first place. “You’re in my year, right?” Maggie said as she studied the girl. She must’ve seen her around before, her face looked familiar. She had big, brown eyes and wild brown hair that tumbled down her back in waves. She thought that she recognized her from her Defense Against the Dark Arts class, but she wasn’t sure. “You’re...” she trailed off, hoping the girl would finish her question.
