Post date June, 23 2024 (00:05) The young Villa had been rotting within the walls of the castle for long enough. Besides flying class and maybe herbology, Ara hadn't been outside in the burning sun for extended times. So naturally, she didn't plan to go out for a walk but she forced herself to. The reason being that she's been breathing too much shared stuffy air (in reality, there were too many people where she normally hung out). Ara dressed in long sleeves and pants as she didn't really want to get a tan but since it was hot, she picked something with rather loose for her pants and something with breathable fabric for her top.
With a book in hand, she loitered around the grounds in classic Ara fashion. She found herself at the club area but she didn't mind as long as she could find her way back.
She walked around the place, not really watching where she was going but she knew if she was about to hit someone (peripheral vision). The black and white haired girl noticed the area where broom races usually occur. She hadn't really been interested in the sport since she'd only been interested in duelling the entire year. As for Quidditch, she watched a few games but didn't get that into it. The young Slytherin wasn't horrible but wasn't that good at using her broom so it was typical for her not to even touch the sport.
Ara did the occasional looking around of her surroundings as she walked around the area, making sure she didn't go that far off. Other than that, she was pretty occupied with her book but not fully lost in it.
The book was not really anything special, just a re-read for her. She just felt like she missed some stuff in her first read.OOC: sorry short starter rpRP Word Count: 302/200

Interacting with: @Ara VillaIt was a pleasant summer day, Ying thought. The sky was painted a beautiful, intense blue, with no clouds in sight and the sun gracefully illuminated above the leaves and branches of the dense trees. The young lioness was sitting at the foot of one of the trees, among its strong roots that peeked into the earth. She had been training during the entire early morning and so her silver arrow was resting on the ground beside her. As a muggleborn about to return home to a few weeks before summer camp, she felt she needed to take advantage of the time she still had left to train her flight.
It has been so close! So, so close...but her efforts haven't been enough to win the broom racing cup this year, and it frustrated her much more than what she wished to show. So she had to do everything she could to become better, to be more useful to her team and not just a dead weight always falling off her broom. It was infuriating really, not that she would admit, her pride would prevent her from admitting her weaknesses. But it was also her stubbornness that would keep pushing her to achieve her goals.
Ying sighed loudly, looking up at the sky and leaning against the old oak trunk, letting go of her bitter feelings and just enjoying the moment of peace and quiet. She would get better, she would just have to keep focus on what were her aspirations and give her best.
Not long after she briefly closed her eyes, the sounds of nature were pierced by the sound of footsteps. Between the softly blowing wind and the distant running water, she noticed that someone was approaching. She straightened and looked over her shoulder to see who was walking her way, though the other girl was probably not noticing her presence yet. Ying knew the girl from some of her shared classes with Slytherin, her style was distinctive, with her black and white hair, so Ying knew that the girl's name was Ara Villa. She was one of those who stood out in the crowd, it was easy to put a name to a face without forgetting it easily.
But Ying wasn't sure if the opposite would happen, wasn't sure if Ara would know who she was, so calling her might be a little awkward. Instead, Ying just stood up from where she had been sitting, brushing the dry leaves and dirt off her clothes, and when she looked up again, the other girl was close enough to hear her without needing to raise her voice, "Hey there!" Ying greeted her in a friendly voice, giving a small wave of her hand, "It's a good day to be outside isn't it?" She asked the other girl giving her a smile before grabbing her broom off the ground. Ying's dark chocolate eyes fell on the book in the other girl's hand and became curious about it, school was over, there would be no more exams in the near future, so would Ara still be studying about some favorite topic? "Studying something interesting?" Ying asked with nice manners gesturing shortly with her hand towards the book. Maybe Ara was also a muggleborn and like her, would spend summer time studying non magical subjects?

Post date July, 2 2024 (13:30) The little bubble of thought surrounding Ara popped when she heard someone loudly talking to another person. She shrugged it off until they said that it was a good day to be outside. It somehow felt directed at her so she turned her head to the source of the sound. The person with a broom at hand was calling out to her, it was someone she knew the appearance of but didn't know the name. Ara had shared a few classes with her but they didn't talk at all, mainly because she was too occupied. She looked around and noticed she was the only person the girl would be talking to. They then asked about when the young Villa was studying about.
The black and white haired girl straightened up, "Not really, just some book about healing plants, nothing special." she replied, "Why ask?".
People don't talk to others out of the blue, just common sense for Ara. She often wondered how people do this without seeming embarrassed or awkward but confident and charismatic. She put her book in her bag and put her hands in her pockets. The black and white haired girl tried to remember their name to no avail. 'I guess I was too distracted taking notes to care...' she thought before finally facing the person she was trying to identify. In the girl's encyclopedia of pure-blood families, she didn't ring a bell.
Usually, she would try to familiarize herself with every pureblood family possible and know their background for something to talk about if they ever strike a conversation. Almost every family also had distinguished features. Was this person a half-blood or muggleborn? She couldn't tell. The girl had long straight and ink-black hair like her's if she didn't get white highlights as the other girl had them in warm brown.
Ara's inner fashionista got the better of her and she looked at their outfits, if she can't identify them and didn't know how to ask names, she'll think about something else. The other girl's sense of style was quite similar to hers but a bit more revealing with a tank top. If she doesn't know them personally, she'll try to search it in their style of clothing. 'Seems like an ok person based on style alone.' she thought. 'Also where did she get that jacket?'
"Do I know you from somewhere?" Ara asked. Though she is aware that she knows them from somewhere, maybe the question might get them to tell their name without actually asking the specific question. It was normal for her to think quickly before saying anything. She didn't want her words not to add to the conversation. One word means a lot for someone who doesn't like talking. The young Slytherin shifted her weight to one side, in her casual stance as she waited for a reply.RP Word Count: 476/200

Ying saw as the girl with black and white hair straightened up before replying to her curious inquiry about the book open between her hands. “Healing plants is a very interesting topic, I wouldn’t say is nothing special” Ying replied in her turn, shyly smiling at the girl that clearly was surprised and seemed a little uncomfortable being interrupted by the young Gryffindor. Ying made a mental reprimand, reminding herself that not everyone likes to be talked so straightforward. “I’m sorry if I interrupted you, I was just curious and wanted to say hi. Maybe I didn’t choose the right way to approach…sorry for that!” She apologised, giving the girl a large and bright smile that reached her dark brown eyes with a merry, kind glint.![]()

Ara seemed to get into a more relaxed stance, as she put her book inside her bag and her hands on her pockets. Ying felt a kind of relief, she really didn’t want to cause any type of awkwardness between them by reaching out. Though she really couldn’t shake that feeling while the other girl observed her taking in whatever information she seemed to try to find. Ying shifted her weight from one foot to the other, slightly tightening her grip on her broom that she was holding on her left hand. With the other she put a lock of silky black hair behind her ear, a gesture that could reveal a thread of nervousness that was wrapping around her, while she wished she could see what the other girl was thinking. “Well yes,” She told with a close lips smile, “I’m Fang Hui-Ying, soon to be third year Gryffindor. We shared some classes. But…well we never talked!” Ying said. Probably she should have started with that, by presenting herself instead of entering making questions! Oh well…now it was done, she definitely learned something that day.

Post date August 4 2024 (00:14) The other girl apologised to the Slytherin, who was still trying to figure out who they were. In Ara's brain, she could only remember that the person in front of her was a Gryffindor. 'Dammit who the hell is she?' she thought in frustration before realising she still hasn't replied to them. "It's fine really." she said, nonchalantly brushing away the awkward apology. The other girl smiled brightly as the only thing Ara could give was a quick nod and closed mouth smile.
As usual, the girl didn't really know how to respond. When people apologize, they expect to be forgiven but in this case the other didn't really do anything wrong besides go up to her. The black and white haired girl would admit, it was pretty bad timing. The other girl introduced herself to be Fang Hui-Ying while gripping her broom. "The name is quite familiar I suppose..." she replied. "I assume you're on the broom racing team?"
Though Ara was already quite certain Hui-Ying was on the broom racing team but being Ara, she couldn't think of a way to continue the conversation. Her mind was rather quick but at normal conversing? It might as well be slow as a tortoise. It was only a few more weeks until her second year ended which was nice. But she guessed that the gods of social interaction wanted to torture her a few more times before going off to rot in Summer Camp to avoid pure-blood balls and gatherings.
Oddly enough, Ara doesnt usually smile all the time in conversations naturally. More like she smiles when she remembers to or when she has to. Sometimes it makes her seem uninterested or bored but it was just a habit of hers when conversing. Socializing and people pleasing is exhausting most of the time. "So Hui-Ying, what are your plans for summer I guess?" she asked. Ara wondered sometimes what other people did during the free months without school. For her, it was usually Summer camp, gatherings, balls, and rotting in her room so she couldn't help but ask.RP Word Count: 348/200

@Ara VillaYing smiled again towards the Slytherin girl, "Yes, I'm Gryffindor's broom racing co-captain." She replied in a friendly manner. But a shadow of some hurtful feeling crossed her dark gaze. Yes, that would be the part that would hurt the most, to say goodbye to something she was so proud of having achieved and now she would have to abandon. She sighed, her expression changing for one that showed a slight disappointment, "But this season wasn't the best for us, I really thought we would won that last game." She muttered, a little more to herself then to the girl in front her. She also supposed, that wouldn't be a subject that would really matter to the her, not even being from the same house. But she had hoped to leave with at least a winning cup.
"But maybe Fang is more familiar to you, because my oldest brother is in your house. Do you practice any sport?" Ying asked with curiosity. She was not a broom racer, that she knew already, but maybe quidditch or even a duellist? It was a shame that this year, Ying hadn't be able to watch any of the other matches, but her grades required all her attention outside of her own matches and training practices. She was practically a library ghost when she was not at classes or on top of her broom. Such effort, such dedication and it hadn't be enough...
"I'll be the referee for one of the broom races match." Ying replied when Ara asked about her plans for summer, "So I'll be at the London Stadium for Summer Camp. I'm actually excited for it actually. I'm curious to see what the committee will organise for us." She admitted. That had been her last request, to at least live up to her responsibilities one last time. "What about you?" She kindly ask.
Ying listened to the other girl's reply before her stomach giving a little roar. She looked at her wristwatch and realised that morning had given place to noon. "I guess now I'll have to go. Lunch and then I'll have a lot to prepare for leaving." She swallowed dryly after saying those last words of her. "I guess this is my last time at Hogwarts." She told the girl. Why she was telling a nearly stranger that, she had no idea. But the reality was that, nd it was far easier to talk about it with Ara than to one of her closest friends. That would be a difficult talk to have..."Good luck! I'll see you around I suppose!" Ying said goodbye with a last smile and started walking towards the old castle.

Post date August 4 2024 (00:14) Though she wasn't interested much in broom racing, the black and white haired girl understood what she meant. Winning any kind of championship in a sport is the end goal every year. Just winning 1 game could probably change a lot. Ara wasn't really into broom racing but she was sure that the feeling was familiar. "Well, at least you made an effort. If it were me I would've probably given up once the probability of winning was under 50%." she tried to make Hui-Ying feel better but she wasn't really sure how. She continued, "I don't really have the 'hope' to win at anything."
Sometimes her usually logical mind was frustratingly too logical. She didn't have hope, she didn't really wish for anything, nor does she accept optimistic opinions when they don't make sense. Ara was too realistic by default. Most of the time she held back from giving a witty comment or insult at someone's idea since it simply wouldn't work.
Hui-Ying mentioned her brother. 'They have a brother?' the other girl thought. "I don't know many people so I don't think I know your brother but I do duel." she replied to their question. Ara had joined the dueling team a few weeks before stage 2 started. She'd won her first 2 matches but she wasn't sure that would be enough to win the championship. The young Villa knew about some of the results of the various matches in stage 3 but not all do she couldn't really calculate who would win in her head.
The other girl then suddenly mentioned summer camp as what they'd be doing when school ends. "Summer camp?" she repeated, "I'll be sure to watch it" she smirked a bit. "I'm going to summer camp too so see you there if I do I guess."
Ara saw Hui-Ying check their wrist watch. Apparently it was lunch and she had to go. Then after lunch she had to presumably pack. The Slytherin merely nodded until the Gryffindor mentioned that it was their last year at Hogwarts. She wondered why she was leaving. It was only their 2nd of the 7 years required to finish the education at Hogwarts so why leave so soon? Though Ara had so mamy questions, not like she could ask since Hui-Ying had to leave.
It was weird, not like they were close, they weren't even friends. Hell, they never even talked until now. But now the Gryffindor racer told her something rather important. 'I suppose it's easier to tell a stranger than to break it down to your best friend.' Ara always wondered what it meant to have a best friend. She's had acquaintances and maybe a friend or two but she doesn't have anyone to be vulnerable with besides maybe her rant journal.
"Good luck outside Hogwarts then Hui-Ying, hope you find your way. Hope to see you around as well."RP Word Count: 484/200
