Breafast with a Slytherin
@Amanda Wiggins
It had all started when a Gryffindor acquaintance of Airlia's had been whining about Slytherins. How horrible company they were and how annoyed he often was with them. He swore that he wouldn't make it through half a breakfast sitting with them.
When Airlia said that Slytherins weren't all bad, the Gryffindor student wanted to make a bet with her. She didn't really care about the three chocolate frogs they placed the bet on, but more wanted to prove that all any people could be friends if they tried enough.
Now perhaps Slytherins were slightly more difficult to befriend but that didn't make it impossible. There were even some Slytherins that were friends with Gryffindor, so why couldn't a Slytherin be friends with a Hufflepuff?
Airlia looked towards the Slytherin table and saw a girl, most likely a first- or second-year student, sitting all on her lonesome at the end of the table. She didn't look lonely or anything but still, Airlia put on a bright smile and started making her way towards her. If she succeeded she might just get a friend for the rest of her Hogwarts years and some chocolate frogs. It sounded like a great deal in Airlia's mind.
"Good morning." Airlia smiled: "My name is Airlia and I want to be your friend." She said it so casually as she sat down and started piling up food on her plate.
"I'm a first-year Hufflepuff and I love being at Hogwarts. What about you? Which year are you on?" She smiled that sweet and innocent Hufflepuff grin that made her look rather angelic and kind. She knew that refraining from smiling could throw people off and smiling too much could creep people out. As such Airlia had learned the perfect smile for new encounters with people. "I thought you might be a first-year but you could pass for a second-year too."

The Slytherin table was filled to the brim with children of all ages trying to get a strip of bacon or a scoop of hash browns. While most of them chatted to friends, at the very end of the table sat Amanda. Unlike most children who needed social interaction, Amanda begged to be alone. Which was exactly what she was wishing for when a Hufflepuff bounced over to her.
As she sat alone, Amanda was plotting of corrupting someone gullible in hopes of making them harm a muggle-born in their house. Because obviously nobody would suspect a fellow Gryffindor/Hufflepuff/Ravenclaw would hurt their fellow house member. As she was deep in thought she heard the tip. tap. tippy tap. of someone approaching her. She glanced sideways noticing a blonde Hufflepuff girl nearing her.
She groaned lowly and closed her book glaring at the girl, but like most Hufflepuffs, she was oblivious of Amanda's want to be alone. Sighing, Amanda fakely grinned and proclaimed (once the girl was done speaking), "Hello! I'm Amanda, Amanda Wiggins. I'm a 1st year Slytherin and I must say. Your hair colour is striking." She then stuck out a hand, waiting expectantly for the girl to shake her hand back. She thought for a moment seeing that this Hufflepuff as exactly what she needed for her plan. A small smirk grew on her face but quickly her face became neutral.

"Nice to meet you miss Amanda." Airlia said with a happy smile and took the girl's offered hand and shook it. "And thank you. Everyone in my family has hair like this." Airlia smiled and twirled a strang around her finger.
"Anyway, I thought I would join you, seeing as you were sitting alone. I've wanted to make a Slytherin friend for a while, but it's like people from your house move in packs." Airlia giggled. She wasn't saying that all Slytherins were constantly together since it wasn't a rare sight to come upon for a Slytherin to stride down a hall all on their lonesome. But those were often rather antisocial people as Airlia had noticed.
"What classes do you have today?" Airlia asked and grabbed some grapes onto her plate, starting to nibble on them happily, unaware of the other girl's plots.
Airlia was the type of person to respect everyone, have endless love and... Well, naivety. She could be hoaxed to buy snow even though she was from Finland and thus had access to a lot of it. She never believed the worst in people, not even the ones that had already betrayed her.
The only thing that could get her angry was someone hurting her friends or family. You could bully her all you wished but she'd just smile and tell herself it was all just a friendly joke, but if you were to do the same to her friend's mama badger would come out and go after you to tell you off for sure...
Or at least reprimand you a little... Maybe cry and ask them not to repeat their actions.
Airlia thought that Amanda seemed nice. She brushed the thought away that the girl had seemed a little glum and annoyed when Airlia had sat down.
Maybe this would blossom into a nice friendship.

Amanda grinned and charmingly stated, "Oh the pleasure is mine and you must tell them that I find their hair wonderful!" Her eyes flitted over the girl once more noticing tiny flaws; like the slight unevenness of her facial feature, how some hair strands were longer than others and how one eye seemed lighter than the other.
She coughed to draw attention back to the conversation while stirring her porridge. "Well while I move in a 'pack' most of the time I enjoy me-time away from the loud giggly bimbos that fawn over a boy."
And as it had been a while since she made a friend that's not a Slytherin, she found that this girl would be simply easy to control. It was either the way she sought approval from everyone or tried to be friends with anything that she saw (animate and non-animate). As she did a quick once over the girl again she came up with a plan and patted the seat next to her.
"I have Potions, Transfiguration, Herbology, DADA, a free period. Then Flying, Charms, and then lunch! And you?" She grinned although it didn't reach her eyes. As Airlia rambled on with her classes, Amanda discreetly slipped a tracking ring; she knicked from her brother (Jace) into Airlia's robes and nodded acting like she actually cared.
She laughed to herself and reached across the table grabbing two Granny Smith apples; handing one to Airlia before taking a satisfyingly loud crunch. As she chewed she nodded and came up with her plan.
She would befriend the girl and become close. So sickeningly close she'd know every little detail about her. She'd then worm her way into her thoughts and mind making her believe every single wrong action she'd do was for the greater good; she'd hurt no she'd wound a Muggle-born Hufflepuff and make it seem like the "poor" child was a clumsy as a baby and simply tripped bashing their head into the pavement or stepped on a shoelace tripping down four flights of stairs. And from then on this worthless Hufflepuff girl would be a tool. Along with a gullible Ravenclaw and Gryffindor.
She smirked and mumbled, "Payback is as sweet as the blood of my victims." She zoned back into the babbling girl acting as if something sinister would never come to happen.

Sorry I took long. I have been M.I.A because of personal life. I'm back now and will answer faster. As Airlia started rambling about her classes she bit into the apple making sure never to speak when her mouth was full, taking moments to chew. It was after all bad manners to speak and eat at the same time.
She noticed the girl mumble something with a look Airlia would later describe as evil and asked; "Hm? I didn't catch that."
When it turned out the girl hadn't said anything too important, Airlia shrugged and smiled. "It's so nice to be finally making a Slytherin friend. You're my first friend from your house. I really don't think you're as mean and cunning as people say."
Airlia trulöy believed that Slytherin's were just misunderstood and sullied by the bad reputation of past housemates. It seemed like only those who really turned bad are even remembered. Tom Riddle, death eaters and the Slytherin graduates sitting behind bars in Azkaban.
Those that work for the ministry as aurors and curse breakers, own pet stores, live as housewives or househusbands seem to always be forgotten.
Not all Slytherins turn evil and Airlia was set to prove this with her new friend.
Airlia was fully ignorant to the devilish plans the seemingly innocent girl next to her was planning. "I have a best friend at home who would definitely be in Slytherin. His name is Ezekiel and he's great! Just a bit of a rascal sometimes. Smart enough to not get caught when he tries really hard and definitely cunning. He could sneak up on anyone and his pranks are rather legendary in my town."
Airlia smiled again thinking of Ezekiel, that lovable idiot. She really missed the raven-haired boy. He was great company and never boring to be around. "You actually sort of look like him. I mean if he was a girl." Blushing she looked down on her hands. That could be taken as an insult: "I don't mean that in a bad way. He's good looking and has dark hair like you."

As Amanda payed attention to the conversation again, she looked around at her fellow Slytherins. She chewed her apple slowly, subconsciously nodding at Airlia. She sighed and started paying full attention to the conversation as her newfound "friend" mentioned a boy named Ezekiel she grinned slightly as her plans came into motion.
Sure, it happened on accident but when something is pre-"planned" is anything really an accident? As Airlia babbled on she silently agreed to twist this naive Hufflepuff into a dishonest, childish being who would do everything she said.
She grinned slightly and whispered out, 'Is Ezekiel a childish and clever as you say he is?' As the naive child babbled on and on about her muggle friend, Amanda had finally set her malicious plan into motion.
'Would you like...to do our homework together later?' She silently prayed she would say yes, so everything would fall in place.
Amanda looked around and quickly repacked her messenger bag and sloppily stood up 'As lovely as our conversation was, I must be heading to Potions. I hope we can meet up again. Oh! And please accept my invitation of doing homework together.' She grinned sweetly and rushed off to her first class of the day.

Airlia was happy about her new friend. She twirled her hair between her fingers and sat straight hoping to make a good impression. The Slytherin girl seemed like a good listener but then Airlia noticed that she was tuned out.
Every word Airlia uttered out passed by the girl like one grain of rice; unimportant.
Airlia felt like the girl's questions were statements more than actual questions she wanted to know the answers to so Airlia smiled and stayed silent.
The girl asked Airlia if she wanted to do their homework together and Airlia felt happy about the request. Maybe she did wish to be friends after all.
With light seeping in at the end of the tunnel Airlia: "I would love to do homework with you. Hope you ace potions."
Airlia was left at the Slytherin table unaccompanied as the girl bolted off and out of the great hall. She was glad that she dared to venture into the Slytherin table. She'd gained something new and it excited her.
Homework. It would be cool to hang out doing homework. Airlia couldn't wait to seek the girl out at dinner and then to meet up at the library to work together. Teamwork makes the dream work!
