A place to cry Closed

(After the appointment in the bathroom was done -see 'Confrontation'- Darius walked away from the castle, reaching the Great Lake to vent without being seen. However, feel free to join him)

The skinny boy stared deeply at his own reflection, which was looking at him as well in the water of the Great Lake.
He could see himself very well: pale and serious, with a suffocating concern that was slowly eating his soul.
Darius wasn't a sad boy, but he surely cried a lot. He could cry because of joy, shock, fear, but when it comes to sadness or weakness, he never showed it to anybody. That's why nobody ever sees him crying, he just goes to a place to hide.
He didn't want others to worry or to insult him. In fact, there was some delicate stuff he had to handle on his own. Or so he thought.

That's why he came to the Great Lake. It was a beautiful place where he could cry all alone.

Darius hugged his knees, hiding his face behind them. He could feel his trousers getting wet because of his bitter tears, his shoulders were shaking as a result of the hiccup.
Sometimes he wished he and his brother were some simple muggles. Sometimes he wished he and his brother never knew the magic world. He wished his brother didn't go out in that forest to train, getting that godda*n curse.

Yeah, that fuc*ing curse.

It ruined everything.

Darius felt like his brother was slowly slipping away from him, from reality, from life itself. And he couldn't do anything to help him. He could just cry.
Sure, Darius made some friends in that school, but it was really hard. It was hard to keep that horrible secret to himself.

He could have just raised his sleeve and everybody would have been cursed for the rest of their life.

After a while, Darius wiped away his tears with a tissue, but his eyes were still swollen and red.
He gasped a little when he realized someone was coming.

It had been an overwhelming few days. Vee realizes how much she doesn’t know about this world. ‘Ravenclaw! Way to put pressure on a little girl, yeah?’ She says to herself. She still tries to figure out why she was placed in Ravenclaw and what the hat meant they could help her, what she needs help in the first place, and how to survive being here. She’s behind her classmates, most of which have been immersed in and exposed to the wizarding world for a longer time, but that doesn’t help - the ignorance she feels is not excusable. If she fails, she can only blame herself. She feels as though she’s only tainted the reputation of Ravenclaw with her grades.

Walking helps her keep her thoughts at bay. She been known to walk mindlessly when in deep thought - her head down, brows furrowed, fiddling with her fingers. It doesn’t take long for her to reach the Hogwarts grounds and straight to the Giant Lake. It wasn’t a place she’d normally go to on her own, not when she knows nothing about it - and nothing to protect herself with if she runs into trouble. But she busied herself with her self-doubt, how much she misses Alexander, and if she really wants to be here. Too many thoughts that she didn’t notice that it was getting dark, she didn’t notice the drop of temperature - she didn’t notice that she was walking straight towards someone.

All that stops you is fear. Do not allow it.

The boy whispered something, trying to be heard by the girl who was coming towards him. He wiped away his tears as fast as he could so she couldn't notice, but Darius saw she didn't even notice him. She was just walking with her head down like her mind was absent in that instant.
Darius tried in vain to get up and warn her, but he didn't make it in time: the two students collided, hitting and bouncing away a little. Venice was okay, but since Darius was really near to the lake, he fell in the water without even realizing.
The cold water hit the cloak of the young girl as he fell and started panicking.
Darius managed to get his head out of the water to breath, but some water entered into his lungs already. He coughed to let it out, but the water kept getting inside.
He couldn't swim and he couldn't even touch the bottom with his feet, so he just stayed there, struggling.
"H-help!" He yelled, extending his arms towards the shore. He looked at the Ravenclaw girl for a second. He would have drowned in a few minutes.

She lands on her butt, paralyzed at the sudden pull into reality. Another boy was near the collision and had fallen into the lake - this doesn’t register to her until she hear him splashing away and his head bobbing in and out of the water. She immediately looks for something to hold on to, but failed. She looks for the boy that she bumped into but he has disappeared. “Stop moving!” She shouts at him, his panicking was only making him drink more water. “Don’t panic, okay!

She kept shouting to the boy but unsure if he can hear her. She wasn’t very strong and she wouldn’t be able to carry both of them at his state. She can’t swim, only float, and she didn’t want to do more harm. She walks in the water until it reached above her hips. “You’ll float! But you really need to relax!” She reaches out to grab any edge of the boy’s robes. They weren’t too far off the shore but the water was drawing both of the closer to the middle and the pull was getting stronger. She moved a little closer to him, finally grabbing his cloak after the fifth attempt. She notices a small drop after the edge she was standing on. ‘No wonder he was panicking,’ She thinks to herself. She moves toward the edge slowly and carefully, if she loses her balance now, she wouldn’t be able to pull both of them out of the water.

Once she gets to a comfortable area, she pulls him towards her with all her strength. “You can stand now, see?” She reassures him, “It’s shallow here.

Finally, Darius was able to breathe properly. The young girl really saved his life. He calmed down a little, slipping away from panic. The water reached his chest now.
Darius coughed away the water from his lungs, feeling his throat burning a bit. Then he grabbed the shore with his bare fingers, almost detaching a nail, to put strength and finally exit from the cold water. After a few seconds, he looked at Venice and extended his arm towards her to help her. He slowly got her out of the water as well, panting a lot from fatigue.
In the end, he chuckled a little, glad they were both okay. Or at least, he thought so.
"Thank you so much. Are... Are you okay?" He asked, resting a hand on the girl's shoulder.
He was feeling very cold and probably she was feeling cold too. They had to go inside as soon as possible, otherwise, they could've ended up sick.

She watched the boy carefully as he turns to step on the floor of the lake. She does not let go of his cloak, just in case. Relief floods in her as he starts breathing properly. Vee was about to let his cloak but he started to cough water out and she knew is still wasn’t safe. She held on to him tighter as he reaches for the shore. She walks to the shore as well, one step at a time, feeling the heaviness of her now soaked clothes. She looked up towards the boy and reaches for his outstretched hand, using her other arm to push off the ground, careful not to pull him back into the lake.

She moves a bit further away from the water, and lied on the grass. “I am not going swimming in a while.” She breathes between gasps, and laughs a bit. She immediately notices how cold it really is, and starts to shiver. She wraps her arms around her chest, rubbing her shoulders for some semblance of heat to no avail.

"Thank you so much. Are... Are you okay?" She hears him ask.

Yes. Thank you. Are you?” She answers as she gets up from the ground. She puts no effort to dusting of her now grass-covered robes as it would have been useless anyway. Right now she just wanted to be warm and dry.

It’s rather cold,” she says, “Let’s go inside before it gets colder. Can you walk?

"Yes, I'm okay. And I can walk" He answered, getting up. He was shivering a lot from cold and his legs were shaking as well, but he was able to walk.
"Come on, let's get inside" He said, starting to walk to the castle as fast as he could, always beside her.
At least his eyes weren't swollen and red anymore, that was a good thing. That also made him forgot why he was crying on the shore, but he didn't really care at the moment.
His hair was completely wet, losing all his incredible volume and his skin was dead-pale from cold, so were his lips, almost blue.
But he was smiling at her, glad she was okay.
"Where do we go now?" He asked since the hospital wing sounded a little improper.

"If you can dream it, you can do it!"

That’s good. I’m glad.” She says. She looks at the horizon wondering what time it is. They were both wet, cold and tired. She starts worrying again, it’s too quiet for comfort. It’s too dark. They’re outside and it’s past bedtime. This won’t look good for either of them. ‘It’s only my first year! Not even half the term and I’m in this mess.’ She thinks to herself, walking in a fast pace. She looks beside herself and found Darius smiling at her. She looks back at him puzzled and thinks, ‘Was he enjoying this?

"Where do we go now?" He asks her as they reach one of the side entrances. Vee takes the time to look around, it is definitely after the allowed time - going through the side entrance was a good call on their part. She puts her hand on her cheek and thinks about the areas in the castle that she’s familiar with.

There’s a small hall at the left of the Great Hall entrance.” She says warily, unsure if they can pull it off. “If we can manage to get there without getting caught, I think we’ll be safe there.” She wasn’t just thinking about the prefects or the professors, Peeves was also the biggest threat - given that he loves toying with first years.
