The Hufflepuff was grateful when the music stopped and he could have a new distraction. In his arms was a pink-outfitted redhead. His first thought (and hope) was for it to be Amina, but it was immediately evident that wasn't the case. This was a girl he had seen in the halls before - she really loved pink, and that stood out quite a bit - but he had never properly met her. He didn't think she was a Hufflepuff since he'd never seen her in the common room, and she definitely wasn't in the same year. Younger, maybe?
Aaron offered a smile but before he could introduce himself, the girl launched into a long-winded introduction of her own. His smile faded a bit when he noticed the tremble in her voice, taking it as a sign she was either very nervous or upset about something. She said her name was Winnie, and that she'd just witnessed someone kissing her crush. Unfortunately, Aaron could relate to that feeling in the moment. He still didn't have a chance to say as much, though, because she went on to talk about getting kissed by a girl, and then comment on how handsome he looked.
The compliment renewed the small grin on his lips, a bit perked up by the sentiment. She went on to stumble over her words about kissing him, then complimented his sweater too. "Thank you!" Aaron said, finally getting a word in. "Unfortunately I've got these wax bits all over the jacket, but you've just reminded me that my sweater is untouched, so-" Aaron released his hold on Winnie in order to take off the blazer he was wearing. He tossed it to the side of the dance floor, now fully showing off his turtleneck. "I'm Aaron, by the way. Nice to meet you. And you're looking quite beautiful yourself. I like your dress." The girl seemed kind, if not just really flustered by what she'd just witnessed.
"If it makes you feel any better, I just witnessed my girlfriend kissing a guy, too," Aaron said, aware of how personally upsetting it was to say that out loud. But he tried not to let it show as he went on reassuring the redhead across from him, "Games like this don't mean anything, really. People just kiss to kiss, it doesn't always mean they're into each other, so maybe the kiss you saw with the guy you like didn't mean anything." He sounded more confident the more he spoke, but he was just trying to convince himself of those words as much as he was trying to convince Winnie. Honestly, that is how he felt back when he was single - hell, he'd even started things with Opeila during a game of kissing. But that was just it - they had started from a simple game, and now they were so much more. He would probably view this all as a silly game if he was still single, but he wasn't. He was quite in love, actually.
"Seeing as we are under the mistletoe though, I'm happy to fulfill tradition if you are," Aaron said, shaking himself free of those thoughts. The five-foot-nine teenager leaned down, aiming to kiss Winnie on her cheek if she allowed it.

Amina (@Ileen Knight)
┏ ┓ To his chagrin, the enchanted dancefloor had thus far separated Peri from his friends. He had landed under a dripping candle with Aaron (who he not-so-subtly threatened over leaving Aly alone), then a mistletoe with Cassius (who he all too politely declined to snog), now with a handsome yet entirely unfamiliar girl. The Ravenclaw was perfectly prepared to ignore the plant again, unawares that he'd landed beneath it with someone whose sentiment on the tradition was opposite his own. It would be easy to assume their stances aligned given the lipstick stain on his cheek.
As they swirled to a stop across from one another, Pericles glanced over her costume, struck by their incidentally aligned theme. She was a whimsical blend of ballerina and fairy, he a soldier bedecked in burning candles, looking like they had walked from the pages of a regency-era fairytale together. Refusing to glance skyward, the eagle smiled in his sleepy way. "Seems we're fit for the ballet," he observed, resting his wrist on the hilt of his wand. She looked to be his age, but he was certain he hadn't seen her before, and he ventured "You aren't from Hogwarts, are you...? I feel as though I'd recognize you." Amina was small of stature, yet athletic, with blush-red hair and laurel-green eyes that made for memorable features.┗ ┛ Chatting. Between Dori and Evelynn, without the young Hufflepuff knowing, a memory shared of their first meeting with Percival that had set the tone for how people felt about muggle-borns and how Dori would feel about him.⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛ ⁛
In this moment Dori was grateful for the spell that kept them moving through the dance without having to worry about concentrating on Evelynn and vengeance and not stepping on her toes. Honestly, Dorion and Evelynn had never been that close. But she had come to their aid during the Great Almost Hag Kiss Valentine's Party, and they had always been grateful for it. "I believe his- hiss, I suppose, is worse than his bite. He's a coward through and through. I don't quite know what he's done to charm Winnie." Their gaze once again tried to seek our Elsi in the flurry of bodies that pulsed in the rhythm of the music, spins, dips, and kisses alike. They couldn't catch his eye however, and they felt their heart sink.
"I know snakes that are kind, in ways that are hidden behind pretense and formality. Which can be just as dangerous, as their true intentions are never known. At least he's obvious about who he is." They sighed, not too keen on the way that Percival had buried underneath their skin and made them want to cast several of the Unforgiveables without regret. "There are not enough curses for the pain I want him to feel, but I do wonder if it would be worth it in the end. It's not as if the might of a muggle-born punch would make him realize the ass that he is." A doubt in their convictions that was ever-present with the person that they were. Undecided. Confused. In pain. A standard mood for Dorion. They could hear the music picking up, preparing for another switch. "I'm sure we will find another time to pick this up. But, I feel that great things could be accomplished here."
They were moving once more, breathing a sigh of something- but they couldn't put their finger on what emotion it was. Their eyes closed, gliding across the dance floor with the already familiar ease. Blue eyes shot open at the revelation of the feeling of hands that they would know anywhere when they slid into their own to guide them back to a partnered back and forth. "My love- did you see? Ugh, there wasn't much to see." They closed the gap between them, laying their head on his shoulder as they danced. "I didn't realize we'd be dancing with others. I thought it would just be us, and I've brought my own problems to it." Shame couldn't help but flash across their eyes once more, feeling out of place here among the fancy dress and people just trying to have fun.
They leaned back, forgetting to look at what was above them and immediately perking up. "Ah, maybe there is still something to save this dance after all." They laced their fingers behind his neck, gently pulling him down to reach as they went up on their tip toes to reach their incredibly tall boyfriend. A soft, sweet, hesitant, yet quick, kiss. A safety wrapping around them as Elsi's arms wrapped around them. They couldn't help but hum happily into the kiss.
No matter what happened around them, before, or after, at least this was something Dori could trust and fall into without worry of landing alone.Action || Kissing Their Boyfriend (Elsi)

Amina’s smile grew wider and wider as the student started to bounce like a cute little pink rubber ball. Merlin, she was adorable. The Durmstrang had no clue why this Disney princess with her full skillset of blushing, humility, sweetness and positivity needed to make anyone jealous. “I grew up in America, but I am a born and currently active dragon - as in Durmstrang!” She announced this very proudly. Durmstrang rules. Then she did a small curtsy, chucking a bit at her new routine. “And I’d love to come over to visit you and your clothes my lady. That’s so sweet of you, although I doubt I would fit in there. You are so petite!””
But the happy moment and the chatting passed all too soon. Amina noticed the distraction and then the smile fainting from Winnie’s face when she watched the other couple kiss.
Hopefully the kiss she was about to receive would cheer her up, if it didn’t make her boyfriend or crush jealous. Still a small win.
The girl didn’t back away, and giggled in a very cute way, as Amina led her into the figure. And then, Amina just kissed her.
Winnie’s lips on her felt different than any other kiss Amina ever had given or received. They were way more ample and softer. There was no scratching from the three or five stubbles that the boys tried to sell as a bead. Also, the girl seemed to be taken by surprise and her just embracing the situation made the moment even more spontaneous.
As their lips parted, Amina smiled at the blushing girl. Man, she really had a nag for that. Two out of two so far! Apparently so did Winnie. The Durmstrang girl felt her cheeks burn up as well- that was new. Normally she was not so taken by people she kissed. Maybe it was because this was her first girl kiss? Interesting. To cover up her own unexpected heightened pulse and emotions, she gently brushed a curl from Winnie’s eyes and lifted her back up to a standing position. “No, no. Thank you. And don’t worry. If this guy doesn’t hold onto you, he is a mad man. You are very cute and one hell of a kisser. If he doesn't see that, send him packing. That would be my advice!”
The last words she was already shouting over the shoulder, torn away by the music and the magic.
Too bad, she wouldn’t have minded sticking with the Hogwarts girl a little longer., but she was twirling away in the other direction. Maybe Amina would get lucky and be paired with Aaron? He still had to fulfill the dare.
The thought of her new found friend distracted her from her first girl kiss experience and she started to look through the crowd, looking for him. But no luck. The dance was moving too fast. However, hopefully he was enjoying one hell of a night with his girlfriend. Amina for sure was. Hogwarts made a really good impression so far! Apparently they were better at kissing than at flying.
When the music stopped again, Amina did an extra spin to even out the momentum and did a nice ending pose for her new partner.
Her eyes fell on the person that was standing in front of her. Wow. First a princess and now a handsome soldier. Amina crossed her arms and her smile became a little more cheeky as she looked him up and down. She bit her lower lip. Man, this boy for sure was handsome. Her gaze graced his outfit, his fine features and the artificial eye, that looked even more mystical in the candle light. Amina squinted her eyes as she tired to figure out what it was made of. Was that tin?
Apparently he had been in a wild fight or something to lose an eye or he was very committed in the costume department. She really was curious how he got that.
It gave him an extra hotness boost for sure. Amina had a weakness for people that were willing to sacrifice their wellbeing, health and body for something they were passionate about.
The Durmstrang tilted her head and did a silent, languishing sigh in her head. This event sent her on a real emotional rollercoaster. First Winnie and now this guy.
Also, she had not missed the faint lipstick on his cheek. Apparently, he was here to dance as well. Oh, this would be so much fun.
Quickly, she lifted her gaze and saw the plant floating right over them. Not that it mattered to her. She would try to steal a kiss from this one anyway, but different than the other girl, she would go for the jackpot.
“Oh, hey soldier! I am Amina. And that’s right, I am not from here. I am a Durmstrang. And how flattering, I would have recognized you too. You look really handsome.” She smiled at him through her eyelashes and curtseyed mockingly and playfully again. It was on.
Then, inspired by his comment, she spun around on one leg like a ballerina and opened her arms for a plie. “You're right, we really are like in a ballet. But what's our story?” She chewed her lip thoughtfully, then beamed at him. “How about this. You're about to leave for a fight and I'm your tragic love that you have to leave behind. You already defended my life and you paid for that. You have even lost your eye for me. So I am forever in your debt” She smiled at him, then took off her hair bow, stepped closer and took his hands (if he would let her). She put the bow in his hand and closed his fingers over it. “For your safety. Come back home safely and don’t… don’t get hurt or killed.” She whispered and then looked up at him with wide sparkling eyes. She would slide a hand up over his jacket to his shoulder and take another step closer. “I love you. Please, never forget me.” Still playing her role, she would get up on her tiptoes and plant her lips on his. In her head, this was a game and the lipstick on his cheek signed him on for that. She didn’t even consider that he wouldn’t want to do that.

Akari felt a small flood of relief wash over her when she was not met with a wand in her face. She watched the girl speak quietly, as almost if she was watching a movie with a cliff hanger, the answer at the tip of your fingers but still untouchable. Unsure in the slightest of the direction that this conversation would take.
As soon as the older girl had explained she held no grudge against her, Akari let a sympathetic but soft smile appear upon her lips. ”You could say that again, proper mugged us off ” She nodded, mirroring the light hearted energy of the older girl.
”Akari, pleasure to meet you officially” She replied to the girl’s introduction, though her gaze began trailing away in the general direction of the boy whom they named not but obviously spoke of. ”Not sure where my head was honestly, quite embarrassing, if I could take back the way we…. or rather I acted to you I would, truly” She found herself rambling, and upon catching herself apologizing on Aaron’s behalf she quickly fixed it. Prior to Aaron, Akari would never have seen herself being so smitten with a boy that nothing else really mattered, but alas, she could not control her feelings and she now stood to face the consequences.
There was barely anytime to even finish the interaction and then Akari was swept away once more as the music started. At least she was certain that her and Aly left it on fairly good terms and she welcomed it, but it was not something she had expected from tonight.
Letting her body take her around the floor Akari gave into the spell and let it guide to her next partner, a boy whom she had yet to ever meet. ”Hi… ” She mumbled as her gaze was caught by the mistletoe plant that rested above their heads. She had no idea why it was so awkward for her to broach the topic of kissing with a stranger especially when that was the whole point of this game. It was not that she was nervous per se, it was just hard when you had no idea how the other person felt and to ask them straight up felt silly. Well the girl that had kissed her cheek had… but she had an air of confidence Akari did not at this time. Akari had not even properly kissed anyone since Aaron, so perhaps that boldness was something she was a little envious of. ”We don’t… have to uh…” She stuttered as she looked up at the boy tentatively, pointing at the mistletoe above them in case he hadn’t noticed while continuing though her voice began fading into a whisper ”You know…”

INTERACTIONS @Dorion Anderson @Opeila Winters | MENTIONING @Percival Gray
───•─•────────────────────────────────────•─•───
Only a moment after Evelynn had explained her qualm with their Slytherin peer than had her gaze drifted off from Anderson's face to somewhere behind them, pupils dilated, gaze unblinking. One by one, the candles had blinked out of existence for the lioness, darkness encroaching upon the peripheries of her vision and the images in front of her blurring until Percival Gray—although a much younger Gray—came into focus.
Reducio"...der if it would be worth it in the end. It's not as if the might of a muggle-born punch would make him realize the ass that he is."...."And just because you've done the trick so many times doesn't mean the one time it goes wrong you'll end up unscathed. I still think you're just as stupid for practicing alone, no matter how much practice with someone else you have." The voice was feminine, echoing within Evelynn's mind. It was coming from her. "But whatever, what does this dumb badger know, hm?"
"Well, that dumb badger seems to know nothing it seems." The Percival of early years standing before her said with a sigh, his eyes still fixed on hers. "Just because you've had a inferior upbringing doesn't mean you have to be sour. After all, most of you brats take our world for granted," he said with a slight bit of aggression. "You're even dumb enough to think that practising alone doesn't help. You really think someone is going to be out there to help you at all times? No, I don't think so. While the rules may be in place to help people, it doesn't mean they can be bent once in a while" Percival said as he got closer. "So before you call me stupid again, think with what little brain you have inside that head of yours. Hell, it might even help you stop being a bench warmer for the Hufflepuffs."
"Inferior? It's not my fault that it took until my existence to bring magi into my family. Besides, magic starts somewhere. Doesn't that make your great great ancestors muggles? I don't take it for granted. I know that I'm lucky to have this ability and to be here. At least I haven't had all this experience just handed to me. I'd say you're the one that takes it for granted. You've never known a life without magic. You wouldn't know gratitude for wizardry if it hit you in the face." The voice was bold, but the emotion behind it was hesitant, as though in conflict with what—or how—it had been said. Something told Evelynn that confrontation was not common.
"Firstly, my ancestors are not of your concern, and secondly you don't know how grateful I am to be living in a world of magic. Living in the muggle world would of been like living in hell..." he said in something of a sarcastic tone, "and you still don't get my style do you? compared to you I actually take risks to get better. You may think it's stupid now, but in the future you'll see that I'm right. I suppose that's the difference between me and you, you're the scared badger who is too afraid to admit or do anything while I'm the "vicious" snake that pushes himself and does what is right," says Gray, a small grin at the corner of his lips. "Hell, with that sewage attitude you'll never get to my level."....
Memory provided by Dorion. Text copied and modified to suit a first-person limited experience of The SituationTM.
The waking dream had faded, transitioning back to reality to find Anderson mid-sentence. Blinking away the ache of dryness to her eyes, Evelynn pulled her attention from the far realms of the dreamlands back to the individual before her. A small, placid smile found its way onto her countenance as an initial attempt to veil the lapse of her attention. As her mind played catch up, however, piecing together the likely dialogue that had preceded what Evelynn had cut in to hearing, she shrugged a brow. "Unfortunately, there is likely merit to that sentiment. Seeking vengeance is generally not a solution, instead only cementing the already skewed perceptions.."
"I'm sure we will find another time to pick this up. But, I feel that great things could be accomplished here."
"Until we speak again, then," Evelynn bowed her head, allowing Anderson to be whisked away by the music and falling into its beat again, herself.
It was sort of strange, she mused as the steps took her from one individual to the next, weaving a pattern of complex movement across the floor. Five years of Hogwarts dances had not managed to draw the lioness to the dance floor. Each time, her escort had either gone off with another, declined to ask her to dance, or had failed to show up altogether. And if not that, then some sort of confrontation or commotion had broken out before opportunity to actually enjoy herself could arise. This was the first time she had danced at Hogwarts, and it was neither at Hogwarts, nor even entirely of her own volition as the enchantment coaxed obeyance. She didn't entirely hate it, though. Perhaps the next dance, she might try to be the one to ask someone else..
As the music faded to another close and the magic of the dancefloor briefly uncloaked the participants of its influence, Evelynn found herself face to face with none other than, "Winters." A polite smile reflected upon her countenance. "It has been some time since we have been able to properly speak. Have you been well? Actually.." She lowered her voice a bit so as not to draw attention, and stepped in a bit closer so as not to be overheard. "..I was hoping we might be able to converse at greater length than this dance will allow. It seems Hogwarts yet remains in the Shadows of misfortune. I had thought, evidently erroneously, it all lifted. Do you know anything about what happened at the Spring Ball? About what afflicted Warren? Have you Seen anything of late?"Action: speaking with Opeila

Interacting with Amina (@Ileen Knight). Thinking about @Evelynn Decipio.
┏ ┓ Most purebloods were trained in the art of saving face at a young age, and Pericles was no exception. One could fairly accuse him of playing dumb too often to be believable, yet he remained reticent to a fault, acting oblivious to avoid being perceived. Better to treat the mistletoe as if it wasn't there than to make a big deal of things, right...? So he carried on like he usually did when avoiding confrontation: behaving as blandly as possible until others lost interest, with an introduction that was tonally on par with a comment about the weather. Amina either saw past the act, or she didn't care that she was being given the wet blanket treatment. She was here for a good time even if that meant prying it from Pericles' demure lips.
Pear had other Charmers in his life. He was drawn to @Dealla Prince for her bodacious wit and @Aly Salinger for her inherent charisma, gravitating to both like a moth to flame, a nocturnal thing drawing comfort from their sparks. Amina's charms were wholly different from his friends'. As if his pubescence was a sleeper agent activated by the siren song of her magnetism, he was finding himself enchanted in a way which wasn't entirely platonic. That masterful compliment, curtsy, look-up-through-lashes combo move coaxed an easy smile from him. The Ravenclaw's head tilted as he tried to pin what he was feeling. He'd only come along to spend time with his tentmates, but suddenly found himself invested in what this stranger had to say.
The tin soldier played along with a faux half bow, introducing himself as "Pericles, from Hogwarts. My friends call me Peri." He asked for Amina's hand with an upturned palm, guiding her spin with the pressure of his fingers. The start of her story had him snickering softly, humored and bewitched in equal measure, at least until the tale she weaved took an all too intimate turn. “You have even lost your eye for me. So I am forever in your debt.” The spell started to waver. As if roused from a daydream, those sleepy eyes fluttered with a few rapid blinks, brow arched and smile fading. He hadn't overlooked the glance his false eye was given at the start, but he was used to curious stares by now. A birthday gift of his first prosthetic had taught him he could have some control over the loss. The wound was still raw, however, and the memory all too fresh. It hadn't been the ballerina screaming his nickname (for the first time) or dragging his body from the battle like a gold-clad angel.
His attention strayed, darting out across the dancefloor in search, then flickered back as Amina pressed a bow into his grasp. It was a favor any knight would be lucky to have, but Pear was only perplexed when his fist closed around it. The weight of her hand anchored him to the spot while the distance between them shrank. “I love you. Please, never forget me.” Eyes that ought to be lidded in anticipation were instead wide with growing horror. The regularly articulate Ravenclaw managed merely a small, stupid "um" before she rose onto the tips of her ballet shoes to reach him. Right words. Wrong lips. Pericles threw back his head in reflexive aversion, adam's apple bobbing with a hard swallow when her kiss pressed to the top of his throat. His arms gently yet stiffly tried to reestablish a gap. At such a close distance, she might see the crisis of identity playing out in the young man's eye as the little voice in his head demanded to know: why aren't we kissing the hot redhead, exactly? He would try to justify it to himself that she could have hag slugs, that the entire event was a liability, really. But that had been the last thing on his mind when she was using his shoulders to pull them closer.
A splinter of guilt lodged itself in his subconscious. Aly had told him to have fun, so why wasn't he? Most treated these kiss roulettes like a no-holds-barred opportunity to let loose and shirk all consequence. He wanted to see the appeal in that, but evidently would need to come to terms with being on the grayer side of the spectrum. Awkwardly apologetic, he suddenly started to fuss over putting the bow back in her hair, mindful not to tug any strands (Aly had trained the nimbleness into him by barking at his bad braiding skills until they improved). The top of his ears were as red as his suit, voice flustered while he breathed "Sorry, you're stunning, I just-" don't know you "-came to dance." Pericles offered Amina his best it's not you it's me smile before floating away, muttering "Think I'm uh, going to get a cold water."┗ ┛ Action: having a small crisisReducioPerfectionist I & II, Keen Eye, Spell Spread, Animagus, Blindvision

The Mistletoe Spin Group #8
After being swept away from each other, partners constantly blurring together as the music ended after minutes that dragged on like hours but felt like seconds the moment you spun to a stop, it felt almost too sudden when within one spin and the next Dorion was there. Eyes closed with a distance that fell away the moment ice blue eyes snapped open and met his. The night hadn’t felt as vibrant until that moment, and it was enough to have Elsian finally relaxing for the first time since this topsy turvy partner switch began.
Blame it on the dancing, or the lazy type of content that never failed to slow him but he was slower than Dorion in that moment. That wasn’t unusual, though as Elsian opened his mouth to speak, part of him wished he’d been the smallest bit faster as Dorion made light of that glorious moment he’d- they’d been robbed of.
Still, he didn’t say a word. Sometimes, it was better not to. At least where Dorion was involved, because as much as he loved them, as brave and amazing as they were, sometimes they were more like a cat than the lazy boy could ever claim as a Gryffindor. Easily spooked, or rather silenced the moment you interrupted them; not quite shy but maybe something not dissimilar and sometimes getting Dorion to vent could be as challenging as getting him to write notes in Astronomy.
So he hummed, and nodded along to show he was listening as they softly danced and swayed but most importantly he shut up and listened. Just in case. Because you never knew how badly a person just needed to be able to speak things aloud and know someone cared enough to listen.
He followed their gaze, bemused by the words and felt his heart swoop at the sight of mistletoe before melting into something warm and content. It was almost funny, how something as simple as a dance always seemed destined to go wrong, even if only in the silliest ways, like dripping candles. Yet in moments like these he found he didn’t really care, not when it led to this.
Because they could become more than those tiny, failed moments that lingered and grew in score. The proof was in the warm feeling of their hands clasped in his as they finally found each other again, the way Dorion had practically glowed under the light, no amount of anger or bitter glares could dampen that. One day it’d only make the memory burn brighter.
There was no choice in the matter.
Especially when he had the excuse to see them balance on their toes just to reach him.
It was impossible not to smile against their lips as they swayed, because who needed music when he had the love of his life in his arms? More impossible was it still to resist wrapping his arms around their waist as they pulled him down, amusement softening into a happy content just to finally be together since the music first dragged them apart.
“I don’t know about that,” he breathed against their lips, a small chuckle shaking the arms wrapped around his neck, “even if it was just a single dance, as long as I’m with you I think tonight was pretty worth it.”
“Besides,” he chuckled, a touch more bashful as he pulled away, just far enough to truly admire them under the candlelight, “seeing you almost punch that guy was…” Eye opening. Amazing? Single handedly the most attractive thing he has ever seen? Elsian buried his head against the other shoulders with a put upon sigh, slumping against the other in a mockery of a swoon just long enough to send the two of them almost stumbling with a small laugh. “You have no business looking that handsome trying to slug someone in the face,” straightening he spun them slowly as the chatter around them began to slow, making his heart speed up in disappointment at how fast time had sped by, “though, if you plan on finishing the job I’m gonna have to insist on a front row seat this time, my love.”
As the spin slowed Elsi pulled Dorion close again, one hand clasped in theirs as his other rested at Doris waist. “I don’t regret tonight, but if anything changes…” he shrugged, pressing a simple, soft kiss to the hand he held, “what's stopping us from running off? As long as you're there, I’m happy.” He admitted.

Within a few moments, both lips combined, not for the longest of kisses but enough considering the scenario. Percival pulled away with a brief nod and smiled briefly "I'll have to explain it to you the next time we have the chance" he replied to her wanting to know what happened. In reality, it was just a complete mess between three girls. Evelynn and Dori wanted to kill him while Winnie wanted to protect him with all her heart. It certainly was confusing and would require more time to explain, not more than Opeila had to talk about with poor Aaron.
If Percival had known those pair were together he wouldn't have considered kissing her in the first place. Now it was probable that the lad wanted to add a bruise to his face too...
Before he could comment on her boyfriend's feelings he was suddenly tugged away back into the chaos of the dancefloor. His shoulder bounced into a few people lightly until he was finally matched with a girl he had not met before. Gray was sure they were in the same year they had just never had the opportunity to speak. Either way, it was clear she was awkward with the whole situation of kissing him under the mistletoe and there was no way he was going to push it "Don't worry about it, it's not mandatory" he said respectfully "My name is Percival, Percival Gray" the teen said with a brief nod "Apologies if I've been making a scene, a few girls on this dancefloor have been wanting to put my head under a guillotine all night..."
It was only right for him to say sorry to the others who weren't involved. The fact they were this angry was partially his fault, them not letting go on the other hand was their problem. They were the ones causing an uproar, not him.
"May I ask your name?"

Akari. It was a pretty name, actually, though the irony of the both of them having names beginning with the same letter was not lost on Aly - clearly, their mutual ex had somewhat of a type, at least when it came to screwing girls over for other ones. Aly's own lips stretched into a smile, mirroring the younger girl's in its softness. Forgiveness was not something either of them would have imagined at the beginning of this dance, but it seemed to be making its own quiet steps towards the light. "Thank you," she said to Akari, gently, almost under her breath - and, better yet, she meant it. "That means a lot."
Out of the corner of her eye, she could see the enchanted instruments readying themselves to start the next song, and Aly knew that there were only moments left in their conversation. She still had so much left to say - apologies to make, shit to talk, and the like - but there just wasn't the time. Such was the pattern of the Mistletoe Spin, just a bit of time together before you were torn apart by the music. Even the inventor of the game had to admit that it wasn't the most conducive to lengthy conversation and character-building. She turned back to Akari in a hurry, curls flying around her shoulder to smack softly against her neck. "Listen, our time is almost up, but we should really get together sometime outside of the dance," she offered, reaching out to give the girl a friendly squeeze on her shoulder. "I have a feeling we'd have quite a bit to talk about! Oh, and in case I haven't said this yet - I love your dress!" Cream silk and black chiffon, what wasn't to like? Yes, Aly was a girls' girl, after all. The smile she gave Akari as the music whisked her away was nothing short of brilliant, as genuine as ever. She'd found the ability to move past their past and into the future, a future where stupid boys had absolutely no place.
The vision in scarlet moved throughout the golden chessboard with all the grace of a swan, something to which she was wholly unused, considering her everyday lack of coordination. Was this Ravenclaw ever so glad she'd suggested an enchanted dancefloor! When the song finally trailed off in its last few notes, she wasn't even out of breath, but still panted a smile up to her new partner - a familiar pinched face and mop of curly dark hair. It wasn't the first time she had seen Cassius, her House Prefect and partner in sneakery, outside of the pitch-black, but it was certainly the first time she had seen him so close up. Had he always had that small birthmark on his upper lip? And had he always been that much taller than her? (Granted, with Aly being just 155cm, that wasn't a tough feat to achieve, but still.) "Well, hello there, stranger," she said with a grin. It was the first time throughout the entire dance, thus far at least, that the curly-haired teenager had been placed with someone she already considered a friend. Thank goodness there was no hard conversation or forgiveness required with that one. As if they hadn't literally walked over from the tent together (with the group) less than a half-hour before, she added teasingly, "Long time, no see."
And then - something hot on the silky arm of her vermilion glove. Aly jerked in reaction with a soft "Ow!", looked down first to find a rapidly cooling glob of beige wax right below the joint of her elbow, then immediately turned her pale green gaze upwards to find out from whence the offending drip had come. It turned out that they were just under a candle that seemed to be melting above them, and Aly groaned in frustration. When she had said to have candles floating above the dance floor, she had meant enchanted ones that wouldn't do this! What kind of shoddy spellwork had the set-up adults performed, anyway? Grumbling and muttering complaints under her breath, Aly instincively took a step closer to Cassius and wrapped her left arm around his waist - "'Scuse me, Cass," nicknaming him without even realising - so that they were close enough together to both be protected by her next action; then she reached into a small, hidden pocket in the side of her full poinsettia-covered skirt, lightly brushing petals aside to slip her right hand within and withdraw a familiar white aspen-wood wand. The wand raised into the air, clasped in slender glove-clad fingers, and Aly cast "Pluvia Velo!" in an attempt to keep them both safe from a further rain of candle-guts.
