Match 7 - Dan vs. Arc
Welcome everyone to the seventh match of our Duelling Beta Test!
A new Duelling System has been in the making for some time now, and starting today we are finally able to show you what the team has been working on. Places as testers have been offered to the top students of the month of May, of which so far all have taken to the task with great enthusiasm.
We will be playing the test duels with the new 6 Stat System, as some of you may already be aware of. This is a First Year test match, putting the participant's stats to either 30 or 35 points depending on whether the duelists choose to be a special race or not. A minimum of 1 point in Stamina is required, and the maximum amount of points in a single stat is limited to 10. Abilities are not yet included in this test.
Your duellists today are @Dan Palmer from Slytherin House and @Arc Perscivious from Ravenclaw. Please give a hearty round of applause to them as well as the moderator of this match, who is (again) our Hufflepuff Head of House @Caradoc Browne !
Both duellists, please post your stats underneath this post so the duel can commence.

THE DUELLING STATS
THE STATS EXPLAINED
For these tests, we will be testing out a new 6 stat system. Please read the details below to understand them.
Stamina: This stat determines a player’s durability. In duels, this will determine a combatants health. This is your health points in a duel.
Evasion: The stat determines a player’s ability to physically react and move quickly. In duels this will determine a combatants chance to dodge an incoming spell. This will help you dodge incoming spells.
Strength: This stat determines a player’s physical ability to hold or lift. This stat is unlikely to be used in duels as the rules don’t allow for physical contact between duellers. This is not currently used in duels.
Wisdom: This determines a player’s skill at spell-casting, accounting for things like correct incantation and wand movement in a duel. This will determine casting success. This will help you successfully cast the spell in the first place.
Arcane Power: A measurement of magical potency. This will determine spell damage. This will determine how much damage your spell does.
Accuracy: A stat which will determine a spell’s chance to make contact with an opponent. This will help you to hit your opponent.
The minimum word count per post is 60 words. You can find your duelling spells here.

Match 7 - Dan vs. Arc
"Right then!" The professor called for attention while he approached the stage. With a scampering pace, he climbed onto the stairs that would lead him up on the platform. A well-pleased smirk would greet the crowd as Caradoc started rolling up his sleeves. "Can everybody hear me? Yes? Perfect." He took a series of steps further down the stage and clapped his hands towards a rather sleepy looking Gryffindor.
"Now that I have Mr. Lansdale's attention as well, I believe it is time for our next duel." He motioned to both sides of the platform as the two duelists entered the scene. "Mr. Palmer, Mr. Perscivious.. I expect a clean and fair duel. Keep in mind that you are both meant to set an example on how it is supposed to be done." He pointed with one hand to each student on the opposite side. he gave them both a nod and gave them time to greet one another.
As he assumed his position next to the stage, he crossed both arms with a stern face. One of the boys, a slytherin, seemed very scrawny. Caradoc was hoping for the boy to be quick in both movement and mind as his opponent looked to be a little tougher than him. The Ravenclaw seemed quite tall for his age. The professor was curious how that would play out in the end.
Eventually he raised his hand."On my mark!"
"Begin!"
By the flip of a coin, Dan Palmer has the opportunity to post first. Next round will be the other way around and so on. I will post after both of you have taken your turn.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Match 7 - Dan vs. Arc
Dan gripped his wand in anticipation. The moment he'd heard that not only was the Dueling Club running some preliminary rounds before opening, but that HE had been chosen to participate, he was ecstatic. According to Mr. Ollivander, his wand was the perfect make for dueling. His wand had given him such joy, and opened a world he'd never even imagined before. It had been his first magical companion, and so Dan thought it only right to use the wand for what it was really good at. What he felt it WANTED to do: Face off against an opponent, and lay down some Irish Beatin' s. But instead of a fist, a knotted stick/staff, or a wooden spoon, (shudder) they'd be using spells. Ah whatever, a beatin's a beatin'.
He caught sight of his opponent. A Ravenclaw, and one he recognized from the Quidditch game. Arc. Arc.... Persnickety, or something.
Dan took the stage, leaving his shoes at the stairs. As usual, he didn't wear socks, and padded barefoot up the stairs. Once again, he was grateful for the anti-scent charm on his shoes. It may seem odd to those watching, but he was already nervous, and being barefoot was calming for him.
He smiled at Arc and waved. It was obvious he was excited. Better to be friendly than be a typical Slytherin. But, that wasn't to say he didn't have the same confidence a Slytherin would. Though he managed to keep himself from smirking, it wasn't by much. Maybe his less savory dormmates were rubbing off on him. God he hoped not.
"Spongify!"
As good a place to start as any. Debilitate the target first, get an advantage right out of the gate.

Dan took his stance, wand ready."On my mark!"
The very instant the word left the Head of Hufflepuff's mouth, Dan's first spell was cast, his gaming expertise and sense of timing paying off. Performing the correct wand motions, he spoke his incantation."Begin!"
"Spongify!"

Match 7 - Dan vs. Arc
The young eagle calmly looked at the opponent in front of him. He was dark-haired just like him, a bit smaller than him, and...looked kind of harmless? But looks could be deceiving. Arc knew Dan Palmer from the Quidditch match between Ravenclaw and Slytherin, and he was fierce. No one who could keep looking for a snitch in the middle of a storm was harmless.
Arc Perscivious closed his eyes while taking deep breaths for a few seconds to control his thumping heart. Adrenaline and excitement was good in small doses as it would increase his reaction time and reflex. But too much? It would only hamper his logic and decision-making. The lanky boy readied the wand in his left hand while waiting for Professor Browne.
He made an 'O' shape with his wand swiftly, almost like a tear drop, and cast quietly when the professor gave the signal, "Mucus ad Nauseam."
Let the curtains be dropped.

Match 7 - Dan vs. Arc
And so the boys were off for a big start. Both wands flashed and send their respective spells to the other side of the stage. Crossing eachother mid-section before reaching their mark. While the taller Ravenclaw effortlessly evaded the attack, the scrawny child did not. Caradoc's eyes stayed trained on the young Slytherin. It was only a matter of time before the effects began to kick in.
"The curse of bogies is a nasty one." The professor explained to the gathered students in his close vicinity. "Ah! There we have it." He'd comment as Dan's nose would furiously begin running like an extreme cold. He was not about to interfere, but the lad better thought of something to do about that. "Well done, Mr. Perscivious. Mr. Palmer, ready to go lad? Carry on!" The Head of House was clapping his hands in encouragement as he smiled broadly amongst the crowd.

Match 7 - Dan vs. Arc
Whenever Arc was playing Chess, Igo, or Shogi, he had always played defensively. It was no different with this duel. The young Prefect had a stratagem he would like to test out. And the first part of that plan was done. Now that the smaller boy was cursed, he would be fighting against time while getting harder and harder to cast accurately. Desperation would soon arrive and mistakes would follow. And Arc would capitalize on that.
But there was no use counting the chicks before it hatched. It was time for the next part of the plan.
"Rictusempra," said the boy with a wave of his wand.

Match 7 - Dan vs. Arc
The first spell of his first duel. MISSED. What was even worse, Arc's DIDN'T. To say Dan was upset would be accurate. To say he was angry wouldn't be INaccurate, but he wasn't quite up to anger yet. However, after his nose started profusely running, the cute, happy, friendly mood was well gone.
He wiped his nose on his robe quickly. He wasn't going to let some runny nose be the deciding factor of a duel.
He felt something rise in him, and realized, finally, one of the reasons that he was put into Slytherin: Spite. Vengeance. One does NOT step on a snake without suffering for it. He might lose, but Arc was not about to get off scot free.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, Dan marveled at how small a thing it was to set him off. But, he didn't care.
He pointed his wand, and made the movement required.
"Incendio."
He aimed for Arc's robes. He thought. It was either his robes or his face. No, it was his robes. He was.... pretty sure.

Match 7 - Dan vs. Arc
Caradoc's eyes would go wide as he witnessed Mr. Palmer's retaliation. The other student tried to fend off the attack but failed to escape its grasp. For a mere second the boy would feel the cindering heat on his clothes and arm. The professor nodded at the succesfull attack. A good comeback albeit he never much liked children playing with fire. The look in Mr. Palmer's eyes he liked even less though. In fact, it made his take out his own wand. Just in case the slytherin would get any ideas. As fun as they seemed when playing, children could be viscious in revenge. Especially if their pride was on the line. This duel could become real any second now.
