Remedy For All Nighters PV Gris E.

Emile was tired. This was not just the normal type of tired that you feel after waking up from your lovely sleep, and just slowly waking up. This tired was the kind that gave you dark circles, and exhausted you for the entire day. Why had Emile allowed himself to stay up late, you ask? Well, what other reason would he have for it? Of course he was reading and writing in his journal. Throughout the night, he had told himself countless times to put down that darned book. He would put away the book for a couple seconds, then think about the fact that it would only take a second to read the next page, and he absolutely could not wait until morning to know what happened to the main character in the story, and so it was a ruthless circle of putting the book down and picking it up again. This had continued until he heard the birds chirping and saw sunlight through the little holes in his blanket. At this point, all of his dorm mates were already getting up and changing into their robes, brushing their teeth, and brushing his hair. Emile acted like he had just woken up as well. He hadn't really felt like getting judged for being too nerdy or something, especially when he hadn't gotten a wink of sleep. And sure, it was his fault this happened to him, but he was tired, and he was the son of authors, so could you blame him?

The way to the Great Hall was miserable. He felt utterly exhausted. All he wanted to do was get to his table and stuff one million donuts into his mouth. He was only 11, so coffee wouldn't be in play for quite a while. He had decided to always stick with a cup of tea or hot chocolate instead of coffee. He had heard it could sometimes be bad for you. He was only 11, and he wasn't looking to get health issues this young! He had a book to write, after all.

At long last, he got to the table and took his seat near a couple of the other Gryffindors he had walked near down tot he Hall. He stared around the table, searching for something that might wake him up. Emile nodded towards some of his housemates and smiled a bit weakly. "Good morning." He chimed with them. In the end, he found a donut, a cup of hot chocolate, some fruit, and a couple sausage links. He also took some dijon mustard for his links. He preferred mustard over ketchup, though most people usually went for the tomato condiment instead. He didn't understand why so many people liked what was basically tomato jelly instead of a spicy, kind of sweet but still salty sauce. (Mustard)

On topics other than mustard, Emile took out his notebook and his trusty pen out of the pocket of his robes and set it on the table, holding it open with his hand while he stuffed the donut into his mouth. He praised whoever made the genius decision to create donuts, and scribbled down about sweetness, and how tired he felt. These feelings could be used somewhere, probably. He hoped that everything in his notebook would somehow be able to be used, but he never really knew if he would even be able to write his novel in the first place.

Once Emile had finished his fruit and half of his donut, he looked around the table. Was there anyone he might be able to talk to?  Would talking help tiredness? He wasn't quite sure, but he was willing to try basically anything. He wanted to be somewhat alert for his classes today. So far, he had been doing pretty well, and he didn't want to change that just because he fell asleep during his class. Would anyone be willing to talk to him?

Griseldis heard the chirping noise from the birds outside the window, she kicked off her blanket and did a big stretch after a good sleep. She looked around and saw the other three dorm mates were still asleep. Griseldis shrugged, she was used to being the first one to wake up before them. She took the wooden comb from the night desk beside her bed and started combing her messy chocolate brown hair, then she skillfully braided two buns on each side of her head. She brushed her teeth, washed her face and changed into her own robe. Looking at her reflection from the mirror with a bright smile and nodded to herself, feeling very energetic for the day as always.

On her way to the Great Hall, she already felt her stomach growling while walking down the stairs with the other Gryffindor students, luckily, the growling noise wasn’t loud enough for anyone to hear. In Griseldis’s mind came out a few images of delicious breakfast meals, Sausages, Bacon, Poached Egg, Scrambled Egg, Baked Mushrooms, Baked Tomatoes, Black Pudding, White Pudding…… Griseldis didn’t even realize that she started to drool a bit until someone behind her coughed to wake her up from her food fantasy. She quickly wiped her drool away with her hand and turned around to give the person behind her a sheepish smile.

Once she arrived in the Great Hall, there were so many students enjoying their breakfast, she could smell the aroma of freshly baked bread and warm cooked British Breakfast. She got to the Gryffindor table and found an empty spot to sit. She said good mornings to her housemates who sat near her and enjoyed her own breakfast. Grieseldis picked a slice of whole-grain bread and used a dining knife to cover some strawberry jam on it, then took a big bite of it. “Hmmm…so tasty…”, before Griseldis took another bite of her bread, she noticed a Gryffindor boy with black hair and bright green eyes who sat across her. Isn’t he the new Prefect? She thought and looked at him curiously. The boy had really pale skin and looked a bit tired. She watched him how he enjoyed his donut and took out his notebook and his pen out of his pocket, placed them on the table and began to write something, he really seemed like a studious person.

When the black-haired boy stopped writing and finished his fruit and his donut, he looked around as if he wanted to talk to someone but no one who sat beside the boy noticed him or were chatting with other students. He looks like a nice person...I would like to get to know him, Griseldis thought to herself, she placed a chocolate donut on the golden plate and pushed it gently in front of him to get his attention. “Good morning, I saw how much you really like eating those donuts so I would like to give you another one.”, Griseldis said with a friendly smile and decided to introduce herself to him, "My name is Griseldis Edelhardt, I'm a first year like you, but you can call Gris if you like."

For a couple of minutes, Emile felt a bit like he was being watched, but he assumed this might be because he was the new prefect. Suddenly becoming it seemed to give him a lot more attention, but he was have a lovely time getting to know the other prefects and learning to ways of the castle even more in depth. So far, he hadn't had t give anyone detentions, and he hoped he wouldn't have to in the future. He also hoped that if he did give any detentions, they weren't to Gryffindors (or any house, for that matter.)

“Hmmm…so tasty…" He heard someone say, and smiled to himself. Whoever had said that was absolutely right. The food at Hogwarts was like not like anything he had before. He hated to say it, and he would never tell his grandmother, but to him it was better than her cooking, and grandmas were usually supposed to have great cooking. Emile's grandmother was no exception, but he couldn't help but admit that Hogwarts was impeccable. For example, the donut he had just eaten was absolutely delicious. A perfect ratio of frosting to dough. It was a lovely donut, though Emile wasn't really quite sure why he had been thinking about donuts in the first place. He took a long sip of his hot chocolate and set it near the his empty donut plate. He quickly realized he didn't write any of this down, and scribbled it all down it his trusty notebook quickly. He did not and would not miss a chance to write something down that could help him write his novel int he future.

After Emile had eaten one sausage link, he coincidentally turned his head right to where the donuts were, seeking another one. But there seemed to be someone who had noticed him eating one earlier. “Good morning, I saw how much you really like eating those donuts so I would like to give you another one.” A fellow Gryffindor said, sliding a golden plate with another donut towards him. He whipped his towards the plate, a bit confused. It was the same voice who said their breakfast was good before! Emile curiously smiled and accepted the plate, his face getting a little bit flushed. "Good morning to you too! And goodness, I hope I didn't look stupid enjoying the donut." He said, a weak laugh following. "What can I say? The food here is wonderful." He admitted. "Thank you, though. I was just about to get another one."

"My name is Griseldis Edelhardt, I'm a first year like you, but you can call Gris if you like." The girl said, and Emile held out his hand for her to shake in return.

"It's good to meet you, Gris! I think I've seen you around the common room before.." He said, starting to think about it, but then realized that he hadn't introduced himself yet and shook himself out of his thinking state. "I'm Emile, Emile Yorke. Some call me Emmy, if you prefer that." He told her, a large smile on his face. He also quickly scribbled something down about their meeting. It was probably something along the lines of: met nice girl, trying to talk to make less tired, could be used for character dialogue.

"So..which classes do you have today?" He asked, trying to make conversation. He had wanted to get it earlier, and so far it did seem as though it was helping to talk to someone. Though he was visible extremely exhausted, and he felt like sleeping, talking to someone and eating another donut seemed to be a good way to get his mind off feeling that way. Moreover, Gris seemed like a nice person, so it was a win-win for Emile!

Griseldis was very happy when Emile offered her a friendly handshake, she gladly accepted it with a huge smile on her face. She was a bit surprised when he said he saw her in the common room before, why didn't she notice him sooner?

"I'm Emile, Emile Yorke. Some call me Emmy if you prefer that." When the Prefect told her his name, he gave her a large smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, and I really like the name Emmy though, sounds really unique so I shall call you Emmy for now on.", Griseldis said and returned his smile with a big one as well. When he placed his focus on his notebook again and started to write something down, Griseldis couldn't help but smile, watching him being studious with curious eyes. She waited for him to finish his writing then he finally looked up at her and asked, "So..which classes do you have today?" Griseldis placed a finger between her lips and made a thinking gesture, "Hmm, well today...our first lesson will be the Defense against the Dark Arts, it's my favorite class so far and I really like Professor Pendrast's teaching. After the lunch break, we'll have History of Magic, I heard from other students that our new History of Magic Professor is quite strict, and our last lesson for the day will be Transfiguration. I really can't wait to see my very first Transfiguration homework result, but I must admit...the question were quite complicated, I did a lot of researches at the Library about how Transfiguration is related to the Muggle subject Psychics and why there is no letter "W" in the magical alphabet...hahaha, now I'm getting nervous about the grade..." Griseldis scratched the back of her head and said with a nervous smile.

Before asking Emile what classes he was going to have today, she still noticed how tired he looked, then an idea sparked in her mind, "Emmy, you look very tired by the way...didn't sleep well, huh? I think I have something that might help beat your tiredness.", Griseldis said and took out a small paper bag from her robe pocket, then looked around and found an empty teacup and a tea kettle only filled with boiled water on the left side of the table, she grabbed the teacup and the tea kettle, placing them between her and Emile. And after making sure that the teacup is clean, she opened the paper bag and picked a few yellow dry flowers in the teacup, then carefully pour some water over the beautiful dry flowers, the water became in a bright golden color instantly and the dry flowers looked like as if they bloomed in water, a soothing aroma came out from the warm herbal tea.

"Here, this is a Chinese Herbel Tea called Ju Hua Cha, these dry flowers you saw are Chrysanthemum. My mom told me this is a magical tea for eye problems and tiredness, she wanted me to always be full of energy so that I can concentrate well during the lessons. So my mom sends her owl to give me these dry flowers every week. Wait for about 3-4 minutes and be careful not to burn your tongue, blow a few times to cool it down a bit then drink it.", after explaining what kind of tea it was, she offered the herbal tea for Emile with a warm smile.

Emile being their new Gryffindor Prefect, same as other Prefects from different Houses they had a lot of workloads than a normal student and it could cause them to be easily tired with their duties, hoping that she could at least help him fight a bit of his tiredness and restore some of his energy.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, and I really like the name Emmy though, sounds really unique so I shall call you Emmy for now on." Griseldis said, returning his smile. Emile shook her hand quickly then let go, not wanting to hold on for too long. Emile couldn't help but also smile at her more. Gris seemed like an extremely nice person. He wondered if he would be able to get to know more about her. Her name was also very unique, though he quite liked it a lot. "Well, your name is also unique, Gris." He said with a grin. "Let's be unique together!" He blurted out, immediately turning a bit red. He usually blurted out random things like that, and sometimes he regretted what he said. This was definitely one of those situations. He didn't know why, but the statement had sounded so, extremely, stupid when he said it. "Please forget I said what I just said. That was very cringy and I apologize." He said, shaking his head at himself, his face slowly turning back to it's normal pale color. Unfortunately for Emile, when he got red he got really red. His face was almost completely white, so anything that was remotely darker than white showed very easily on his face, even if it was just a freckle from being out in the sun. Emile doesn't tan. He burns, and when he blushes it's very easy to see.

As Gris explained her classes, Emile felt a bit intrigued with how much she could go into detail about only her classes. Sometimes he wished he could also go into more detail about everything. He wanted to for his book, and for his journal, and for his letters, and for, well, everything! "Wow! The way you describe makes your day sound so interesting. And I'm sure you got an O on that assignment. You seem like a very intelligent person." Emile said in all honesty. From what he had seen and learned about of Gris so far, she seemed to be a very bright eleven year old. "Ah, hold on, Gris. Let me write something down quickly." He said, pulling out his notebook. He wrote down about a possible plot line of a prodigy or someone extremely smart. Maybe he could base the character off Gris? He quite liked her space buns as well and scribbled something about that down as well. "Sorry about that." He said, quickly putting his notebook and pencil back into the pocket of his robes. Many kids didn't have anything but quills here, and Emile had absolutely no idea how in Merlin's name they were living their lives. Get out of your head, you furry. You're in the middle of a conversation! He thought, turning back to Gris.

"Emmy, you look very tired by the way...didn't sleep well, huh? I think I have something that might help beat your tiredness. Here, this is a Chinese Herbal Tea called Ju Hua Cha, these dry flowers you saw are Chrysanthemum." Gris said, going into a deeper explanation as well. Emile couldn't help but be a bit confused. Why was she being so nice to him? Usually people weren't this..accepting of him. It was true. He did look extremely tired, and a cup of tea sounded absolutely glorious in this moment. He accepted the tea, excited to taste it.

He blew on it a couple of times after waiting three minutes as Gris had instructed, then sipped some of the tea. It was heavenly. Right now this cup of tea seemed to give him a boost of energy. Maybe it was just because he was delusional from being tired, but this was some really good tea. "This is lovely tea. It smells and tastes delicious." Emile said, adding a bit of sugar to the tea. "I hope I didn't use up your precious tea leaves. I owe you some sort of sweet or snack when we get the chance next." Emile said, being the type of person who always returned the favor. If he didn't he would feel absolutely awful. In addition, Emile quickly wrote down how the tea tasted and smelled, and how it made him have more energy.

"Let's be unique together!", when Emile suddenly blurted out, Griseldis was quite surprised, but in a good way. She never thought that the Prefect Gryffindor was actually a cheerful person as well. But before she could also say the same thing about being unique together, Emile's pale face quickly turned red like a red apple and seemed very embarrassed about what he just did, "Please forget I said what I just said. That was very cringy and I apologize." Griseldis slightly frowned, "I don't think that was cringy at all, in fact...LET'S BE UNIQUE TOGETHER!!" Griseldis shouted like there was nothing to care in the world and punched into thin air in excitement. Luckily, the Great Hall was still crowded with a lot of students so her shout was drowned immediately in other people's chattering voices, but she did catch a few students' attention who sat near them, some looked at her with an annoyed expression and some chuckled at her action. "There is nothing to be ashamed of being true to yourself, Emmy. My Grandfather once told me, the more you conceal yourself, the more you lost your own happiness." Griseldis said with a bright smile on her face and gave him a thumbs up.

After that, Griseldis told Emile with a lot of enthusiasm about her classes in details, she blushed a little when Emile complimented her how detailed she explained to him and that he believed she will get an outstanding grade on her Transfiguration assignment and even said to her that he thinks she's an intelligent person. It was the first time that someone compliments her like that so she felt really happy, she just wanted to do her best and always worked very hard. Then she watched patiently how he sometimes wrote things in his notebook during their conversation, she didn't really mind at all but still curious about what he was writing in the notebook. I wonder what he is writing? Maybe it's his diary? Or his own research book? Griseldis thought while studying him. She wanted to ask him but it might not be polite, maybe wait until he is comfortable enough to tell her one day, they just met after all.

Then Griseldis offered to brew a cup of Chinese herbal tea for him to restore a bit of energy for him. She watched Emile nervously when he blew on it first as she instructed, not many European people enjoy Asien herbal tea because they usually drink red- or black tea and milk tea. After he took a sip, she noticed how his expression looked more relaxing than before, "This is lovely tea. It smells and tastes delicious.", hearing Emile's compliment about the tea, Griseldis placed a hand to her chest and let out a relieved sigh, she looked up to him with a smile, "I'm so glad that you like it, I was a bit worried that you might not like the taste." while Emile was adding sugar to the tea, he told her that he would like to offer some sort of sweet or snack to her as a thank you for her tea the next time they meet again. "Sure! I love all kind of sweets or snacks and don't worry about the dry flowers...here." She headed him the tiny paper bag filled with the rest of the dry flowers, "My mom sends me these every week so you can have this, you seem to need it more than I do because I never get tired easily."

"I don't think that was cringy at all, in fact...LET'S BE UNIQUE TOGETHER!!" Said Gris, and Emile felt all the muscles in his body relax. Gris seemed like the type of person he could actually relax around and maybe get to know better. She seemed extremely sweet, first giving him the extra donut, and the tea. And she also seemed to be very accepting. After only talking to her for about five minutes, he already had mentally decided he really wanted to be friends with this girl. Ever since becoming a prefect, he had been kind of stressed out and always trying to seem like he was very well kept and calm all the time, but it seemed like maybe he had found someone he could actually relax around.

"There is nothing to be ashamed of being true to yourself, Emmy. My Grandfather once told me, the more you conceal yourself, the more you lost your own happiness." Emile couldn't help but smile back at her after she said this. He quickly scribbled this down in his notebook as well. He wrote the quote down, but he also wrote about he could potentially have a character that was very knowledgable and always stayed true to their self. And vice versa, he would maybe write about someone who changed based on what others thought of them. That one little quote gave the Gryffindor a multitude of ideas. "That's definitely something that would be good to live by." Emile said, almost in awe of the quote and it's meaning. He smiled to himself a bit before they moved onto the the tea.

"I'm so glad that you like it, I was a bit worried that you might not like the taste." Gris said, seeming to feel relieved that Emile liked the tea so much. As he took another sip and the aroma of it filled his body, he wondered who would ever not like this tea. Only someone with the screws in their head not on properly might not like it..but anyone with a half decent mind could see that this tea was absolutely delectable. "I'd be surprised if there's someone who didn't like the taste, honestly." Emile chimed.

"Sure! I love all kind of sweets or snacks and don't worry about the dry flowers...here." Gris then said, giving his a paper bag which was filled with the flowers. Emile looked down at it, confused. Why was she being so nice? Were people this nice nowadays? It seemed a bit unreal to the black haired boy, as he hadn't experienced much kindness in his life. "My mom sends me these every week so you can have this, you seem to need it more than I do because I never get tired easily." She explained, and Emile took the bag slowly, almost as if it were a piece of the most expensive tea cup in the world. He looked at Gris and smiled widely.

"Are you sure? I don't want to steal your tea if it's a gift from your mother. This is beyond kind. I really need to do something big for you in return. Whats your favorite kind of sweet? I can bake more than one if you like..personally I like macarons the most. But I think I'm good at baking most other things." Emile said, almost going on a rant, but he stopped himself by taking another sip of the tea. Nows not the time to be thinking about yourself, dummy! Don't rant about macarons. Even though they're so good, and everybody seems to like chocolate ones. Yet in reality, the pistachio ones are clearly the best. Even in the comfort of his own mind, there was no stopping a young writer from ranting, even about something to uncontroversial as macarons.

Remedy For All Nighters PV Gris E.
As Gris watched Emile slowly took the paper bag from her, she did notice the confused experssion on his pale face. This wasn't the first time seeing someone looked so confused after doing something nice for them, she just liked to help people ever since she was a little kid, her family taught her to always be open-minded and help those who are in need and never turn your back on them. She listened and did her best but there were a few unpleasent incidents happened before during her years as a student in a muggle primary school, she once helped a muggle girl her age, protected the girl from a group of bullies, after that they instantly became best friends but months later, she was called as a fake person for being so nice and got ignored without telling her the true reason. Gris shooked her head, trying to forget the bad memories. Why did I suddenly remember that time? She thought to herself with a frown, no matter what she would never change her own way to be nice to others because being mean to a person is wrong thing to do.

"Are you sure? I don't want to steal your tea if it's a gift from your mother. This is beyond kind. I really need to do something big for you in return. Whats your favorite kind of sweet? I can bake more than one if you like..personally I like macarons the most. But I think I'm good at baking most other things." Emile said and he took a sip of his tea. Hearing the word "Macarons" and that he could bake really got her interested, she looked up at the Gryffindor Prefect with sparkles of excitement in her pastel grey eyes, "Macarons!? I know they are one of the most popular desserts from France, always wanted to try one of those colorful Macarons but never had the luck to eat one and you can bake too!? That's even more wicked! My Mother forbidden me to even get near the oven, hehe......", she used a finger to scratch her nose and laughed awkwardly, felt a bit embarrassed at the last part when she admitted to Emile that she can't bake at all.

Before Gris could say another word, she saw a few students from her class stood up from thier seats and left the Great Hall in groups, that was when she realize that her first lesson is about to start. "Oh no! I'm going to be late for the Defense against the Dark Arts class!!", Gris jumped out of her seat and slightly lowered her head down and clapped her hands together in an apologizing gesture, "I am so sorry, Emmy! I would love to continue our conversation but I have to go now, don't want to see Professor Pendrast's angry face.", She said in a hurry, then turned around, running toward the exit but Gris didn't forget to wave at the black haired Gryffindor Prefect Goodbye and shouted loudly enough for him to hear her words, "I'm confident that we'll meet in the common room someday, I'm really looking forward to try your Macarons!"

Once Gris left the Great Hall, she couldn't help but smile because she got really good vibe from Emile and hoped to meet him again, deep down she knew they will become good friends in the near future.

Griseldis Edelhardt has left the thread.
