Scavenger Hunt Summer Camp 2024 The Stands

Tristan was quite pleased with his riddle solving skills when the fireworks exploded above him at the Goal Hoops. There was always an enjoyable moment in seeing such sparks and it was also quite enjoyable to be right. The next riddle appeared to guide him towards the stands. He made his way there with slight hesitation but also a ninety percent confidence that he was correct, a better number than when he went to the goal hoops. This was quite a fun event for Tristan as when he was younger, he had been quite the detective, although a quite serious one with a lack of emotion. This was a much healthier game emotionally and fun instead of mean and cold. As he made his way to the stands, he saw that there were three items, the top hat, a beret, and earmuffs. He reviewed the riddle again and easily determined that the item that he must take was not the earmuffs for he would not be able to hear with them. There was also a stereotypical hat for the French Artist which was the beret, so he was certain it was not that piece of headwear either. He was pleased that the answer was the Top Hat as many people who knew him were aware that he always enjoyed wearing the top hat when he introduced himself, in fact he sometimes would summon the top hat he owned when he was introducing himself to first years for a bit of fun and mischief, or perhaps changing the color of his hair. With confidence, he twirled the top hat and placed it upon his head, doing a little tap routine and bowed to thin air for fun.

The golden fireworks no longer seemed like something surprising, although the presence was still expected by Sere in every place that she believed was the answer to every clue in every round. Time flies super fast, she has just realized that it is already the fifth clue. Sere took a scroll from her pile and began to read, 'Go lower now, and find a place with a bit of a closer view.'

Again, Sere's footsteps automatically took her to the lower part of the Top Box. This place seemed pretty fun for everyone who want to watch the match and support their favorite team together with the crowd. It didn't take long for the Gryffindor girl to set her foot on The Stands. Her obsidian scanned around the area and saw another three piles of accessories that had been prepared. Sere stepped closer to the pile while reading the next clue, 'That which goes upon your head. You'll hear just fine and be not French with this stunning accessory instead!'

Between all the choices, only two of the three could be used on the head. The code is related to French and the answer of that must be a beret. Sere reached out to take the beret, but something felt wrong. The clue said 'be not French with this stunning accessory instead.' Sere tilted her head and shifted her hand, taking the top hat instead of the beret.

A flare of gold and a bunch of new scrolls had me smiling in relief. Well, I'm still in the game! Yoo-hoo!

I unflur the scroll and read the next riddle.

The riddle asks us to descend from the top box and get a closer look of the stadium. So, in short, still a viewer and has a closer look too? I mean, those are the exact seats dad used to take us to! The stands! Uncountable seats {just that I could never start counting them}, the best place to be at for a match, the cheer and the laughter, the taunts of the opposition team supporters, the cheer competition {who cheers the loudest} and everything combined, the essence of true entertainment when combined with the thrill of the match!

I head down the numerous steps, reaching the stands and searching for the table with the three mounds. Okay, wait, hold on....where is the table?

I could only see the countless magenta sea of seats and nothing more. There are several isles, several steps leading in and out, and Merlin's beard! The stand could be anywhere!

I pick a random side and start walking down one of the aisle's when in the corner of my eye I could see the plain wooden stand and heaps. I rush towards it, grateful of having found it in one go? I near the bench and see three piles of Top hats, berets and earmuffs. Recalling the riddle, it did talk about a head accessory, not a French one, so not a beret. I am to hear just fine so definitely not an ear muff. That leaves the top hat!

Once again, fireworks announced their correct choice (of location at least). Cass was well an truly on a roll now, and if they had counted correctly this was the final riddle. They would be slightly sad to have the hunt end so soon, but very happy to hear their victory announced. Which was definitely going to happen now! Lugging their riddle-answer items with them, they took a look at the scroll. "Go lower now, and find a place with a bit of a closer view" had to mean the stands. There was only one place that could be. The stands were directly below the top box, and it was definitely a closer view. They scrambled down the many stairs, excited footsteps heralding their arrival.

For the fifth and last time, three objects greeted their eyes. This time it was all headwear- earmuffs, top hats and berets. Glancing back at the riddle, they chewed on the inside of their mouth while they thought. All three of them went on your head, though the next line narrowed down the selection. "You'll hear just fine" ruled out the earmuffs, since they went over your ears. "Be not French" meant that the beret was out as well. "Stunning accessory" it was then. They reached down to grab a top hat, and placed it on their head dramatically.

EmmaLee stifled giggles at Stephen's description of his adventures in crafting. "Well, don't be too surprised to find Minx curling up on your sleeping bag more than mine after she wears herself out with your mouse." She said with a wide smile, patting his shoulder comfortingly. "I appreciate your struggle and I'm sure Minx will, too." As they walked to the top box, EmmaLee found herself fiddling with the little mouse in her pocket, feeling warm in her chest that he'd taken the effort to make her beloved cat something.

In the top box, EmmaLee smiled as she watched Stephen mismatch his own mittens, and then giggled a little at his description of his "Bohemian snow dude". For some reason, she found it very funny to hear him say the word "dude" in particular. It didn't seem to fit his demeanor, though it technically was a Californian word.

EmmaLee thought for a moment about how nice it was to be in a looser setting with Stephen than a ball. As much as they were themselves in that setting, there was always a little bit of showmanship in trying to make sure the other had a "magical" time. At least on EmmaLee's part, there was also the underlying hum of the very real possibility that something was going to go wrong at any moment. So the balls were a little, stiffer, of an adventure over all than summer camp ever was. The events of summer camp, though sometimes embarrassing, were usually contained in their chaos.

This seemed to be turning out to be just a normal, everyday scavenger hunt with nothing wild lurking in the bushes or anything that wasn't just what it was supposed to be. For a moment, EmmaLee let her mind wonder how long their friendship could be like this now that they were growing up. Surely, when they did find other people, it would be less, yes? EmmaLee rubbed the bridge of her nose and turned to look out the window at the, admittedly, stunning view to dispel the twisting in her chest at the thought. "It really is a stunning view." She commented idly, clasping her hands behind her back and rocking a little from her toes to her heels. "It isn't good for Quodpot, but it would be good for Quidditch," She agreed with a chuckle."which I guess is the real point."

As she was finishing her comments, the sparks erupted for the fifth time. Though in the small space, EmmaLee had to shield her eyes from the show before they faded out and revealed the pile of clues. She waited for the cluster of people who rushed the table to die down before grabbing a scroll for herself and Stephen, handing him his, and repeating the ritual from before. After reading it aloud and then reading it silently to figure out the clue for a moment, EmmaLee walked back over to the window and searched the area below. She was hoping to see the table of things in the stands from the box, but as she scanned, she saw nothing. There was an area of the stands directly under the box that you couldn't see from the window, though.

"I think the table is in the stands directly under us," She said quietly, turning to Stephen. "I don't see one anywhere else." When Stephen agreed, they walked together out of the top box and found the table rather quickly in the middle of the stands, just under the box.

Heading down into the stands, EmmaLee grinned widely as she approached the table. She giggled a little as she picked up a cranberry-colored beret on top of one pile and tipped it over her forehead in a silly way, pouting playfully. "What if I want my snowman to be French?" She said, cheekily, "I can't exactly melt my Frenchness away with a top hat." She continued with another giggle, putting the hat back down and grabbing a top hat instead. She twirled the hat in her hands for a moment before popping it onto her own head with a flourish.

"I suppose I can try to 'be not French' for an afternoon." She said, tipping the hat down over her eyes and frowning playfully.

"Do you think Minx would look good in a top hat?" She asked, abruptly looking back up at Stephen and accidentally causing the whole hat to fall over the top part of her head because it was too big to really fit.

Before Evelynn had even fully reached for a pair of gloves, golden sparks erupted to shower the table with another luminant display. Brows furrowed, reach pausing momentarily, though she withdrew the gloves as another roll of parchment appeared. It had always been her impression that the fireworks would only display if the correct item had been selected, but she hadn't been the only one to receive it. Those who had settled their decision upon the mittens had also been graced with its display. Clearly, there was something more to the scoring of the Scavenger Hunt than met the eye. Or perhaps the entirety of it was a farce, or some sort of set up for something greater at its conclusion.

Putting those suspicions aside, the Gryffindor unfurled the next clue, eyes darting across its words. Without hesitation, she left the top box in favour of the seats far below. It had to be referring to the stands, she reasoned, as it still spoke of viewing the game rather than participating in it. That would require a bit of hunting—in the form of idly circling the pitch with gaze roving the spectating seats for any sign of a table set up therein.

Eventually, she came across what she was looking for: a simple wooden table set up in one of the aisles between seat sections. Upon its surface were—as expected—three piles of items. Though a pile might be a loose descriptor for the jumbling chaos that happened to be the top hats, their shapes not exactly conducive to organized pile-age. Nevertheless, it was one of those that Evelynn swept from where it had fall to the ground. Earmuffs would muffle sound, and a beret was French, eliminating both of those options if the clue were to be obeyed. She dusted off debris and snowflakes and turned it slowly in her hands, half expecting to see something inside once it was turned wrong way up. Nothing but darkness and the shadowed evidence of a manufacturer's label peered up at her.

At this point, she couldn't help think back to the clue where she'd taken a scarf over a bowtie, second guessing her choice at the time. A stick (cane).. gloves.. buttons.. top hat.. They were all components of rather gentlemanly attire. A bowtie would have complemented the ensemble quite nicely, though it wasn't as though a scarf didn't. Would the next clue involve coattails? Or perhaps a pocket watch, she wondered? Where, exactly, were the organizers going with this...

If they had the muggle invention of fitbits, they would have for sure hit their 10,000 steps or however many people set as a goal. The castle itself was a lot of walking in-between classes and to the meals and back to dorms, but honestly they hadn't anticipated this much physical activity. Honestly they really hadn't expected to be on a little mouse chase at all, but here they were. Getting increasingly warmer at the hunt continued with more and more clothing items.

This time, something atop the head that would have them looking good, so they grabbed a basic top hat. This would be a clothing item that Dori would simply insist that the quest givers keep as they really didn't want to ever be seen in a top hat. Maybe there was a spell to transfigure it into something later, but for now it sat awkwardly on top of Dori's head. This was really quite exciting, part of it still left her wishing that Elsi was along for the ride with them. Dori would still be doing most if not all the group but at least they would be having fun. Potentially bringing back lots of fun clothing items would simply have to do in the sense of a gift for the boy. Surely he could turn them into something magical.

Another set of golden fireworks! Mylo loved seeing them as it meant they had chosen the right spot and were interpreting the clues correctly. On to the next one he thought as they went to grab the next scroll that had appeared once again amongst the fireworks, opening it up to read the next clue.

This one was quite a bit easier than the last one, as getting a closer look at the field while not going onto the pitch itself made it so that there was only one option. The stands.

Making his way over Mylo started reading the second part of the clue, guessing that there would probably be headwear at the next stop. And stepping up to the three piles they found themselves correct, and they also found themselves finding the item immediately.

It couldn't be the earmuffs as the clue stated still being able to hear, and not being French meant not choosing the beret. Which only left the top hat over.

Grabbing on of the hats they put it on, they had quite the collection going on so far, and Mylo was starting to wonder how many clues there were going to be as they patiently waited for the next set of fireworks to occur.
