Happy Days

She had arisen early that morning even though it happened to be the weekend. Despite the slight grogginess that she felt from having stayed up late the previous night reading her charms textbook, she was at least happy that the Great Hall was likely the be empty of others. Showering and then dressing quietly in a soft jumper, jeans and a pair of muggle trainer, Erika made her way out of the dormitory ignoring the light snores and sleep-shuffling of her dormitory mates and tying her long blonde hair into a messy bun as she did so. Her wand stuck out slightly from the deep pocket of her jeans but she was satisfied that it was safe and wouldn't get lost, her mother having had her clothes altered so that a wand wouldn't seem somehow unsightly outside of wearing school-robes. The more time that she spent at Hogwarts the more bizarre her families attitude seemed to the girl.
The walk down from Ravenclaw tower was uneventful but she hadn't been out in the corridors with it being so quiet for quite some time. It was relaxing, in an odd sort of way. The Ravenclaw common room could become so rowdy, especially when any sort of academic debates started. While Erika was out of her depth as a first year, she couldn't help but listen to some of the older years talk about their own classes. The debate that had almost turned into a duel the other night had been most interesting, and she, herself, had found herself wondering how exactly the anti-cheat charm on the exam quills worked.
Erika smiled to herself as she, at last, made her way down the entrance hall steps. Her time at Hogwarts had been interesting so far, she certainly preferred being at the castle. The Yule Break with her parents had been utterly awful. Internally she shook those irritating thoughts out of her head as she made her way into the Great Hall towards the Ravenclaw table. Much like herself, she noticed a few other early risers across the four tables and acknowledged the other students that she knew. Sitting at the table, Erika loaded her plate with enough pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs and maple syrup to tide her over until lunch. The cup of Earl Grey tea that she poured into the cup next to her plate made her smile again, it was easily her favourite type.
The quietness of her surroundings, not yet broken by the noise of others and the smell of breakfast food that surrounded her was satisfying.

Happy Days
Astrid was always up early, even on weekends. She didn't like sleeping too long, as that usually made her groggy the rest of the day, so she was usually awake around 7 am. But the night before, she had stayed up later than she had intended to, reading a thrilling novel by the fireplace in the Ravenclaw common room. It was just past 8 o'clock when she finally opened her eyes, having been awoken by the sound of another student getting up and dressed. She yawned and stretched, pushing the blankets to the end of her bed. After a few moments of just staring sleepily at the ceiling, she made herself get up and take a shower.
Too tired to really care what she wore, Astrid simply pulled on a loose, long-sleeved t-shirt, and old, faded pair of jeans, and black converse sneakers. She tried her best to be quiet as she got herself dressed, not wanting to wake the other students as they slept peacefully. A part of her wanted to still be curled up under her warm blankets, but she knew that would not be a good idea. It would throw off her sleep schedule entirely. One late night would not kill her.
Grabbing a book and her wand, Astrid started down the quiet staircase from the tower. There was no other sound other than her own quiet footsteps, which allowed plenty of room for her mind to wander and wake up. There was never a moment in her head where there was not some thought rattling around. Sometimes she ignored her thoughts, but sometimes she could sit and think on one idea for hours. Her mind was still very jumbled since she had not had time to really wake up yet, however, so there was no way she could focus on one thought even if she wanted to.
When she reached the Great Hall, her nose filled with the delicious scents of breakfast. The smells seeming to infuse her with new energy, she hurried over to the Ravenclaw table to find a seat. She settled across from a girl she vaguely recognized from the common room, and began filling her plate with waffles, eggs, and anything else delicious that caught her eye.
As she ate, she caught the gaze of the girl across from her. She smiled. "Good morning!" she said cheerily, now quite awake with food and coffee in her system.

Happy Days

Slowly stirring some honey into her cup of tea, Erika decided to let it cool somewhat before she even attempted to take a sip. While she was settled with having awoken so early, she was dismayed as she realised that she hadn't thought to pick up a book to bring down to breakfast with her. With it being so early the Daily Prophet delivery owls wouldn't be gracing the Great Hall any time soon - she usually liked to either read something that she was pursuing outside of her classes or to catch up with the news of the Wizarding World. There hadn't really been anything interesting of note happening as of late but with the history of the world being what it was, nobody ever really knew when the tides would change. Naturally Erika and her brother had grown up hearing stories of both wizarding wars and the idea that her parents had been two students to not even bother fighting in the war had angered her. Two adults who constantly ragged on at their children to be the best and that they wouldn't accept anything else, yet they had ran away when the fight had arrived to them.
While she had been slowly eating her breakfast and lost in thought, Erika jumped in surprise as she registered the other Ravenclaw sat opposite her. Erika hadn't even registered that somebody had joined her at their house table. There were a great deal of students at Hogwarts now and the first year class was absolutely huge - the dormitories for Ravenclaw house had obviously been expanded and added to many times over. Thank Merlin for magic. She was pressed to recall the other first year in the front of her until the face and name clicked in her brain, "Good morning," greeted Erika, after wiping her mouth daintily on the napkin to the side of her plate, manners mattered after all.

"Astrid right? From the library that time?"
