General The Gryffindor Table 2018-2019

Slipping into a spare spot on the Gryffindor table, Isaiah instantly felt a sense of belonging. The rich, endless supply of food, the candles that warmly lighted up the hall, and the constant chatter of his fellow students.

Stretching his neck to look up and down the length of the table, Isaiah could easily spot his brother, Ejaz, surrounded by at least six friends, all of them chattering and laughing at something unknown. Keisha would be here too, but instead sat on the Slytherin table, and Isaiah knew that looking for her would be difficult, so didn't bother.

Instead, he looked at the spread before him. Beef and pork and potatoes lay in front of him, ready to eat, and Isaiah felt like a king from the story books. Food was never plenty back home, but here, Isaiah bet he could eat for hours, and still have more. It took him five minutes to decide what to eat, and he settled with the beef.

Isaiah had had no clue what house he would be in, when entering the Great Hall, but right then and there, sitting in the table of fellow Gryffindors, he was glad for the decision, and thankful for the Sorting Hat, although he wasn't exactly sure how he could thank him.

Settling down, he started to eat.

"Expect the unexpected. And whenever possible, be the unexpected.”

"Gryffindor!!" Rosemary was surprised to hear that house come form the Sorting Hat, because she was sort of expecting Slytherin like her father even though she felt somewhat like a Gryffindor because of her amazing mother. Rose is so excited to embark on this journey as a proud Gryffindor. She would love to join the Quidditch team and serve her house proud. The only thing she is slightly confused about is the house points and how to get them. Rose feels like she is both Slytherin and Gryffindor at heart maybe throw in a little Hufflepuff, but she knows she will fit in well with the brave, whole hearted lions. No wonder the Sorting Hat picked Gryffindor. It was the only house that could accommodate every aspect and characteristic inside of Rose. Rose is smart, witty, adventurous, and caring. The list could go on and on, because she finds out something new about her everyday that wither makes her more doubtful about her purpose or more assured about her purpose. However, as a first year she will go with the flow and enjoy having fun while it lasts. The hard work is sure to come and she will be ready for it.

Keep it magical with rose.

Maggie bounded down towards the sea of red and gold, the Gryffindor table. She wasn’t sure if being sorted into Gryffindor was a good or bad thing, as she was a muggleborn who hadn’t bothered to open a book about Hogwarts yet. She didn’t know a soul at the table, so she plopped down next to the first Gryffindor she recognized from the sorting ceremony. She was going to greet her, but she was immediately captivated by the mounds of food before her.
Woah,” she muttered, “I didn’t know that much food even existed” She saw a beautiful, golden, chicken pot pie sitting a few people down from her, and her mouth practically watered at the sight.
“Hey,” she called to the boy sitting right in front of it, “would ya, pass the...” she trailed off making a gesture towards the chicken pot pie lazily.
“Sure,” he smiled at her and handed her the food, which, by the way, smelled absolutely heavenly.
“You are a saint.” She flashed a grin at the boy, who laughed and continued to talk to his friends sitting next to him. Maggie took a giant bite of her food and immediately regretted it as it proceeded to scorch her tongue.
“Ow! Ahhh!” She said, quickly swallowing her food and sticking out her tongue. She fanned it rapidly, as if that would cool it off
“Are you okay?” She heard a voice ask,
RP as the boy or the voice asking if I’m okay if you want to

Galton's hungry feet carried him to the Gryffindor table quickly. He'd thought food was out of his mind with all of the excitement, but quickly the hunger returned with the sight of the wondrous foods. On taking his seat he began to reach for various foods close by. A chicken leg here, then a nice steaming hot buttered potato. Next he went for some desserts, a bright yellow custard tart, a chocolate éclairs and even a few strawberries. He was sure his mother would be happy he'd picked out the strawberries. Galton's eyes flicked over the remaining dishes, all a bit too far for him to reach. He would have to make do with what he'd grabbed so far.

As he began to eat his attention returned to the friend making aspect of this evening. He looked around at the faces surrounding him, many he recognized from the trip here, and the ceremony he some how made it through. He smiled at the nearest neighbor after swallowing a mouthful of chicken. "Hi, I'm Galton. Nice to meet you." It wasn't particularly aimed at anyone, but he was sure someone had heard it. He turned his attention back to the food, quickly gobbling up some potato. Though his eyes were not ready to meet others quite this second, Dalton was sure he'd be able to hear them. It's not like everyone else in the hall was talking at the same time.

Scanning the table as she sat with her near empty plate, Lucian made note of how boisterous the Gryffindor table was compared to the rest of the houses; everyone was eating and talking quite loudly, but her new "family"'s table was quite another scene. The boys especially were quite loud and physical, shoving each other playfully throughout the table, pushing food around, speaking so loudly they were nearly yelling. However, even the girls were rambunctious, all seeming to be quite happy to be placed at the table of red and gold. As she scanned the table, she met eyes with a boy sitting diagonally from her, listening to him speak.
Lucian nodded to the boy who had greeted her, watching carefully as he shoved item after item of food into his mouth. She found it to be quite the disturbing sight, yet a small, childish part of her found it to be humorous too. She picked absentmindedly at a tart she had pulled out of the pile, not sure yet of whether she was hungry or not. The shock from her sorting had stifled her appetite quite a bit.
"Nice to make your acquaintance, Galton." She lied; it was, in fact, not nice to make his acquaintance, or anyone for that matter. All Lucian wanted was to be alone. "I'm Lucian." She extended her hand formally for him to shake over the table, not minding to tell the others around her to "Excuse her reach"; they moved their hands out of the way instinctually at her firm arm.

Maggie leaned back as a hand made its way across the Gryffindor table, reaching to shake the hand of a boy around her age. The owner of the hand looked around her age as well, a slender girl with stormy gray eyes and long black hair. The girl made Maggie slightly uncomfortable, as it seemed like she was looking straight through her. The red and gold tie around her neck made Maggie wonder why she hadn’t seen her around the girl’s dorm room before.
Well,” Maggie thought, “it’s not like you’ve been here very long in the first place.” Maggie had been at the castle for only a few days, and so far, she was having the best time of her life. She missed her family and all, but, as a muggleborn, she would never get tired of seeing magic.
“Hey,” Maggie said, the ambition of making a new friend on her mind, “You’re in my year, right?” She directed her question towards the girl, though it was pretty general, so she supposed anyone could’ve answered...

And like that, his hypothesis had been confirmed; he had, in fact, heard when someone addressed him! He raised his eyes to the rather serious looking girl who had extended a hand to him. 'Lucian, aught to 'member that. Wait... All the names I learn I have to remember.' Galton thought while raising a hand to meet the girls. He tried to give a firm shake, not too hard, because she was just a girl. His dad had said a firm handshake was the key to a good first impression. Galton wasn't scared of making friends, but doing it this early would make the first few days a lot more fun.

He was about to continue the conversation after a quick bite of a tart, but another girl spoke up. He took the chance to take a over-stuffed normal bite. When she had finished he took the chance to speak up, completely missing if it was addressed to him or not. "Well, I'm a first year so, if you are too then yeah! Ooo I wonder if we will have class together." Galton smiled at the girl. He could tell she was a little uncomfortable, but these types of events were pretty scary so he understood. "Oh! Wait, what if the three of us had class together? That could be fun..." He trailed off at the end, eyes fxed on what looked to be the perfect piece of crimson red ribbon hard candy near the newer girl. As he reached over towards her he extended a hand, set on grabbing the candy next. "What's your name? I'm Galton if you didn't hear." ((Directed to Maggie))

Mira entered the Great Hall and smiled as she looked around. The grandeur of it, all these beautiful candles, the exciting looking people... she was amazed and pleased. This is exactly how she imagined her 'new empire' as she half-jokingly calls the places where she stays longer. The only flaw of it all seemed to be that her favourite colour, red belonged to the Gryffindors. She wanted the red! Mira was convinced she would get into Slytherin, this is how she was raised and she was good at many of their typical skills. She was ambitious, a shameless and brilliant liar, resourceful and the only rules she was ever willing to follow were those she accepted as her own. Still there were signs she didn't take into account. Her direct and adventurous nature, how sneaky solutions never satisfied her emotionally, her courage and confidence, all those conflicts she had at home...

She enjoyed her sorting,  she smiled and often nodded as the Sorting Hat spoke to her, but when it shouted out "Gryffindor!" her left eyebrow raised in disbelief. "Be careful what you wish for..." she said to herself drily. She wanted the red robes, so she got them.  This could be a problem, she thought, but it wasn't nervousness that made her heart beat faster, excitement. This was an opportunity to be free. She was raised to think she wouldn't get along with Gryffindors, all those moral judgements they had that kept them from becoming truly successful and left them with nothing but hatred for those who achieved their ends without their limitations. This was Mira's father's idea of a Gryffindor and sure, she couldn't get along with someone like that, but she was also certain Gryffindors wouldn't push her to play safe all the time and be sneaky. Gryffindors won't bore her.

With that thought and the friendly, confident smile it put on her face she jumped up and strutted to the Gryffindor table. "Hey guys!" she greeted the students sitting nearest to her, two girls and a boy as she sat down. "I loved the sorting! My mother will explode when she hears I got into Gryffindor." she said with a grin as if this were great news. "I'm Mira. Are you all first years?"

"Welcome to my world, where we do things my way!"

Lucian nodded silently as the other girl joined into the conversation between her and Galton, noticing her slightly squirrley manner, as if she was uncomfortable. She wasn't surprised; she too, was uncomfortable, but surely for a different reason than most of the people at the table. Most of the kids at the table were uncomfortable due to the fact that they were surrounded by strangers, in a totally new place, attempting to make friends. Lucian, however, wasn't uncomfortable due to trying to make friends, but more trying to avoid them. She wasn't interested in socializing right now; she just wanted to sleep.
Suddenly, another girl joined the conversation, extremely excitable and upbeat, which annoyed Lucian even more. It seemed immature to her, and her patience was already running thin. She took a deep breath.
"I'm a first year, yes. However, I feel like I've been here forever." Lucian glanced around the Great Hall, appreciating the faint glow of the floating candles and the perceivably open rooftop. It was all so beautiful, and she wished she could be in the massive hall, alone, laying on top of one of the tables and staring up into the night "sky".
She listened to them speaking about having classes together, and shuddered internally at the thought. For someone who had been raised so independently, being constantly surrounded not only people, but people her own age, would prove to be more difficult than she had thought. The idea of going to classes with the same people, eating with the same people, sleeping with the same people, was the opposite of attractive to her. It was frightening, and made her upset.
She didn't show her thinking in her face though. Lucian remained as cool and stoney as always, nodding and smiling complacently at the pair, her foolproof poker face proving successful as usual.

What’s your name? I’m Galton, if you didn’t hear.”
”Maggie, Maggie Parker.” Maggie smiled at the boy, who had finished chewing his food. “You can call me Mags, though, if you’d like.” Maggie grinned as she thought of the nickname her younger siblings used for her ever-so-often. “Quick question- do have any clue what’s going on in Potions right now?” Maggie laughed loudly, “I mean, it seems like the Professor is speaking another language at this point!” Maggie and Galton burst out laughing, but before he could reply, a new voice rang out at the Gryffindor table.
Hey guys!”the voice belonged to a girl, a confident grin present on her face, “I loved the sorting! My mother will explode when she hears that I got into Gryffindor. Maggie couldn’t help but admire how little she seemed to care. “I’m Mira. Are you all first years?”
I’m a first year, yes...” The girl with stormy grey eyes trailed off, staring into space. Maggie could’ve sworn her name was Lucian. Maybe Lucy?
“Yup.” Maggie said, matter-of-factly. “That’s Galton,” She said, pointing to the boy who had since siezed the moment of silence to shovel food down his mouth. “And she’s Lucian?” Maggie ended her sentence on a higher note, not sure if she’d gotten the girl’s name right. Lucian, if Maggie was right and that really was her name, seemed entirely uninterested in the conversation and was staring off into space. “And I’m Maggie, Maggie Parker.” Maggie grinned as a new thought popped into her head, “Do you all want to be friends?” She asked excitedly...
