Crossed Wands - Duel 2
19:30 - Mon, 9 Sep 2024

Marcus creaked the door open to the old, usually unused classroom and peaked inside. Noting nobody was in there, he pressed his shoulder against the hard wood of the door and continued it on its trajectory. He walked in, the light from the corridor spilling in to illuminate the room a smidge. He gave himself another self-satisfied nod at another well-chosen location before beginning to physically push the few desks and chairs to a corner of the room, close to the window.
The boy wiped a slight layer of sweat off his brow as he glanced back to the middle of the room. "The place has a nice rustic look to it. Adds to the ambience," he told himself quietly as he went back over to the door to stake claim to the chair he'd left over there. Drawing in a deep, nervous breath, he stuck his hand into the pocket of his robes and took out the 'official' Crossed Wands Duelling Submission form and began to read it. A 1 v 1 v 1 duel was definitely new to him, but he thought it would be an interesting exercise, not much different than the 2 v 1 match he'd adjudicated the day before. And the three-round limit would be an interesting hurdle, too.

Round 1
Round Limit: 3
Deadline: 72 hours (26th Jul 2024 22:30 GMT+1)
Instructions:
- You have 72 hours to owl (or DM) me an action showing on your Character Sheet and to post a roleplay reply in this thread. Minimum word count is 200 (despite what my Welcome owl states). Do not state your action in this reply. This first one will be before the duel starts. If for some reason you can't post within the deadline, let me know at your earliest convenience so we make make accommodations. If you haven't posted within the deadline, and you haven't let me know, your action for this round will be void.
- I will then calculate the result and will make a moderation post to summarise the outcome of the round. With this Round 1 post, I will post the results at the top and then roleplay us starting the duel.
- We then rinse and repeat the cycle.
If people are still standing by the end of the 3rd Round (which I imagine they will be), the Challenged will be asked if they wish to end it in a Draw. If they say No, the winner will be the team with the most HP percentage remaining.
Once the duel has come to a close, your Ratings / Rank within Crossed Wands will be updated.
He glanced up as people started entering the room, the first being the intern sent from the Hospital Wing to safeguard the participants.

@Zander VorseEhsilat's been walking with a light pep in her step today. She was about to have her first duelling match(albeit an unofficial one).
She had challenged Prat and someone named Zander? to a 1 v 1 v 1 duel. Though she was way over her head thinking that she might be able to take down two people at once with no allies, she thought the prospect would be a fun experience for her, as well as extra practice before she actually joined the official duelling club.
She stepped into the classroom where the moderator said the duel would be happening, and found all the tables and chairs pushed to the sides of the room leaving a wide space in the center of the classroom. There were two other people in the room besides her, the moderator, Marcus, and the person that was to watch us and help with injuries.
Although Ehsilat was super giddy and excited, there was a lot weighing on this match, such as making a good impression so that she can skip the waitlist and immediately be put on the team roster for official duels, and more importantly, her father's approval. She took a deep breath in, so that she could calm herself and released it. A smile formed on her face as she fully stepped into the middle of the room. "Hello!"

Crossed Wands - Duel 2
Zander Vorse | Gryffindor | Second Year
Zander was rightfully terrified. First duel and he didn't even know how he got involved. Maybe just wrong place, wrong time. He kept mumbling all the spells he knew and practicing the movements with a stick. Not a wand, of course, that could get really dangerous. There were three people in the room, none of which seemed to notice him crouched in the back corner of the room with a pale look on his face. He wished for a burst of confidence that would make him feel any bit better than he did now because he was really starting to sweat and the duel hadn't even started, there wasn't even a fire. He stood up and walked towards someone, he only the the last name Wilst and Wilst was much smaller than him. As in Zander was small, like barley even 5 feet tall so Wilst had to be like 4 feet tall. This gave Zander much more confidence than before but he also knew that small people are much harder to hit. Maybe the other opponent, Prat Pass might be easier to hit. Hi. That's all he could get out before he started fiddling with the sleeves of his robe. He was a Gryffindor, supposed to be... Braver. But his mom was a Slytherin and his dad was a Wampus at Ilvermorny. They weren't exactly the brave type so he decided to take after his muggle friends at home. They were super brave. At least that's how he thinks of them.

Stepping into the battleground Prat didn't have much if an idea about what to expect, he'd witnessed a few duels before but nothing like taking part in a three way duel was not something he would have imagined himself doing a week ago. Even then his confidence didn't waiver much, for To be good at something you have to start something.
For this duel Prat had eaten a light breakfast in preparation and had skimmed through his spells to practice them. He'd thought up a bit of strategy for himself about what he'd do in the duel. He wondered if it could even be called a duel if it was three people involved in it.
Shaking away the nuisance Prat walked up to his opponents and gave them a curt nod with a good luck greeting and went back to take his place. Brandishing out his trusty walnut wood phoenix core wand that hadn't let him down.
Seeing it as a new challenge to overcome his opponents and come out a different and more experienced person no matter the outcome as he switched his gaze back and forth between the two other participants and the moderator itself. With a sigh he performed his intended action as he......

Marcus had stood up when the intern had walked into the room and then smiled as he observed Ehsilat follow shortly behind. He observed her as she practically bounced into the room with excitement, and he acknowledged her welcome with one of his own, "Hello," he said back to the small second-year.
He moved away to stand next to the intern, who had taken up a vigil in the corner of the room in front of the door, before turning to face said entrance.
His eyes drifted over Ehsilat and on to a fellow Gryffindor who walked in and made his way to the far corner. Since the boy hadn't offered an acknowledgment or greeting, Marcus left him to it.
"Probably off in his own head somewhere. A 1 v 1 v 1 is unheard of, by me at least, so he has every right to be nervous," he thought to himself.
He watched as Zander made a small effort toward Ehsilat before fiddling with his sleeve. Marcus' head then turned as he watched the final duellist enter. Prat came in and immediately acknowledged his opponents, before getting into a ready position.
Marcus moved to the center of the room and looked at each of them.
"Okay, thank you for coming. I know I'm hardly qualified to duel, let alone lead a Club, so I appreciate you taking a chance on this," he told them as he took out his wand idly. He watched as they all assumed stances, "Let's not waste any time. We all know why we're here, and you should all be aware of the rules."
He didn't receive a response from that, so he turned around again and paced back to the corner with the intern.
After reaching it, he spun around and shouted, "Begin!"

As the duel began Prat knew what he had to do, he hadn't formulated a fool proof plan as this duel was out of the common norms of how most duels tooks place. However he went into the duel with the assumption that both his opponents would target him and thus he'd need to render one of them wandless. As the Duel began Ehsilat attempted spell but failed only to be hit by Prat's expelliarmus spell and lose her wand, meanwhile even as Prat attempted to Dodge he was hit by Zander's Knockback jinx which not only to hurt him but also gave Prat a taste of what duelling was like.
Prat smiled at the experience, this feeling of danger and actual harm was somewhat exciting daresay amusing for Prat. No amount of throwing spells at test dummies could match the feeling of going up against someone who actually fought back. Even more fun was having two instead of one opponent to go against. Getting his footing back, Prat dived back into the game seeing how his two opponents were ready and prepared for their next attack too. Prat's grip tightened on his trusty walnut wood phoenix feather wand as he prepared his next move where he.......

@Zander VorseEhsilat wasn't feeling particularly nervous about this duel, but she was feeling exactly calm either. Right after Ehsilat and the moderator exchanged greetings, Zander joined the three people in the room(including herself). He seemed nervous and agitated but Ehsilat wasn't going to say anything, his doubt might make it easier for her to win-
As Ehsilat continued to analyse Zander, Prat walked in, he unlike Zander seemed quite confident in his abilities. Prat offered a curt nod to everyone in the room and then promptly took his position. Once everyone was there, she took a mental note on how much smaller she was than everyone else- maybe she could use this to her advantage?
Ehsilat was quite confident in her spellcasting abilities, she'd put in countless hours of reading and analysing various spell books in hopes of impressing her father. Being somewhat logical, she decided to take out the confident one first, she didn't want them to get more aggressive as the duel went on and possibly cause problems for her.
Having made up her mind, the instant the duel began she casted Incendio on Prat, however she missed and Prat clearly had thought she would make a bigger threat than Zander and casted Expelliarmus on her, rendering Ehsilat wandless. That wouldn't have been a problem if she could cast wandless magic, but alas she could not, frantically searching for her wand that was knocked out of her hand, Ehsilat made an effort to be more on defense so that she doesn't get hit while she was searching, though that might've been unnecessary as Zander casted the Knockback jinx on Prat, and as a result reducing his HP.
Ehsilat then thought about forming an alliance with Zander to take out a common enemy, but decided against it even if it was a sound strategy she thought it would take the fun out of the game for everyone. She like the small thrill she got during the 1 v 1 v 1. Not to mention, it would be way more impressive if she defeated both of them herself.

Zander took his spot in the room as he prepared to duel. He was really scared now, heart pumping out of his chest. Wilst's wand had been knocked out of her hand by Prat before she had cast anything, which had temporary stunned Zander as he tried to cast something at Prat before he was hit. He thought through all the possible spells that would fit the bill and chose one and casted.
Surprisingly he did the knock back jinx. He had really thought he should of done incendio, it probably would have done more damage but the knock back jinx didn't really hurt anybody too bad, and that's what this duel was. Fun. He hoped so because he was really scared that they would have targeted him as he knew neither of them and had never talked to them either.
Surprised he hadn't been hit, he stood a bit taller amazed by what he just cast. It did decent damage, but he knew now that he might get hit. Probably with a disarming spell. He just had to figure out from who. And that was difficult as they probably both wanted to target him because he was the strongest with wand in hand and no injuries after the first cast.

Crossed Wands - Duel 2
19:46 - Mon, 9 Sep 2024
Marcus watched, with a smile on his face, as spells began to fly. He squatted down in the corner as he watched the three of them, glancing to the side as he sensed the intern do the same. Returning his attention back to the duel, he was quietly impressed with how much had been done already in such a small amount of time.
He tapped his wand idly against his thigh as he observed. He knew, as a first year, he didn't know enough to be of any help if anything happened, but having his wand in his hand allowed him to feel at least somewhat in control.
He pushed himself up and out of the squat, but still crouched, he began to start circling the room so he could keep a constant eye on everyone, rather than whoever so happened to be in view from the corner.
He found that 1 v 1 v 1's came with a unique tense-ness, since, at least at the moment, there were no alliances formed and anyone could attack anyone.
He came skidding to a halt in the furthest corner from the door, kicking up some dust as he oriented himself and readied himself to pretty much crab-walk to the next one.
