Finished Stupid Feather PV Lamik

@Lamik Fillestar
Alan would be at his second favorite place on the Hogwarts school grounds; the hill near the stables. Also known as the place Morfran Griffith taught and had his office, he probably even slept there, but Alan didn't want to think about it. Do the Professors even sleep or are they always awake? Shaking his head softly the young boy continued gnawing on his quill that he usually used for homework, as he found that other quills would smudge too much. His had a very narrow metal tip so that not much ink would make a mess on his homework paper.

His empty gaze was directed towards the book that he had placed on the high grass and if one would take a closer look they would see small sketches explaining a wand movement in detail. Occasionally the second year would pull away the quill from his mouth to inaudibly mutter a word, maybe because it sounded interesting or confusing but mostly because the child was afraid he might forget about it, if he did not read it out in his mind.

The Gryffindor was lost in his mind and placed his quill on the ground for just a moment. However that was enough time for the wind to do what wind does and carry the feather away in a breeze. ”Bloody-”, Alan bit back a curse, as he hated cursing and jumped up, knocking over his inkwell, spilling it all over his Charms book and homework paper. But that was the least of his worries now as he started to run and jump after his feather, that danced in the wind as if to mock him.

Lamik was taking a walk outside, humming loudly. The exact tune that he was humming wasn't exactly recognizable, and that was simply because lamik hadn't decided on a tune himself. Instead, he was simply switching from song to song at random times, deciding that whenever he found a melody that he wanted to stick with he would know it.

Lamik took walks pretty often and for various reasons- exploring, finding a place to do homework, reading, or just to take a breath of fresh air. Usually, nothing very eventful ever happened during these walks as they were one of the few things Lamik enjoyed doing alone.

As he began his ascent onto the hill beside the stables, the boy thought that he heard someone speaking. Not a lot- simply a word or two, seemingly out of annoyance and too far away to hear. The source of the sound became apparent as soon as Lamik reached the top of the hill: A familiar looking boy was frantically chasing after a quill that was blowing in the wind. The boy, who Lamik soon realized was one of the people who he met by the whomping willow, seemed to have been studying, evident by what appeared to be textbooks and parchment that were completely covered in ink.

Lamik grinned, both because of the humorous appearance of the situation and because of the possibility of talking to this boy normally for the first time. As he ran over to help chase the quill, Lamik shouted to get the boys attention: "Hey!"

Alan turned his head towards a guy that was running towards him and shouted a greeting. Al an nodded nervously, before he continued trying to catch the feather. Why did this have to always happen to him? One would guess he learns from the mistake he does, but at least someone was nice enough to help him this time. As Alan continued to chase after the quill he noticed the resemblance the boy had to someone he must have met before.

Alan did not remember the name properly so it could not have been class or any kind of event. Maybe some short kind of meeting? The boy had blond hair that reached around shoulder length, but Alan didn't see his eyes properly while they were running around chasing after the near weightless object. His mind was racing with thoughts as he tried to remember the other kid. Were they even in the same year? Alan guessed no, at least that he would be able to remember, because he did not share a dorm with the other boy.

Alan should not think about that now though, so he forced his mind to focus on the quill that got carried away by the wind. Alan hoped that the other boy had more luck or that they together had double of a chance than he alone had to catch the quill. He hoped they could find or catch it, because it had been expensive and he spend a lot of money on it. Probably galleons of a month or even longer had it took him to save up for it. But it was pretty and awesome to write with!

As Lamik reached nearer to the familiar boy he started changing the direction in which he was moving to be towards the feather instead of the second year. He started sprinting after the quill, one hand outstretched towards the floor in an attempt to grab it. As he got closer, Lamik realized how nice it was. It was a lot fancier than anything that he had brought to Hogwarts, at least, given that he only bought what was detailed in the invitation letter he got before the school year started. It must have cost a fortune. I can't let it get lost.

With a higher motivation to catch the quill, Lamik threw himself onto the ground once he got close enough, grabbing it off of the floor as delicately as possible as to not damage it. He played there for a few seconds, propping himself up with his elbows and looked at the item in his hand, before getting up with a grunt and offering the quill back to the boy with an outstretched hand. With his other hand, Lamik tried to brush off his robe from dirt for a bit before giving up and focusing back at the familiar person. "Here you go. You really should be more careful."

Alan was still trying to catch that stupid quill and was slowly getting frustrated. He had no idea how to explain his soiled Charms book to Vernatis later and the feather would not stop flying away. Alan was surprised when the other boy managed to get a grasp on it and offered it back to him. Alan was glad and happy that the boy helped him, he probably would have never been able to get a hold on the quill on his own.

With a soft, yet nervous smile he took the crow feather and studied it quickly to see if the wind had damaged it. Obviously it was alright, which made Alan happy as he looked up at the other boy, sheepishly. ”Yeah... I got distracted,” he admitted.

”We have met before right? My name is Alan, yours?”, he quickly and quite unelegantly offered his hand to the other boy, who even was in his own house, Alan noted as he saw the Gryffindor badge sewn into his robes. Alan wondered if the two of them could become friends, he seemed rather nice. ”Do you want some Chocolate Frogs as thanks that you helped me?”, Alan asked, reaching into the pocket of his robe with the hand that was not waiting for the other to return the handshake.

As soon as the boy made sure that the quill was ok, Lamik took a sigh of relief. "Yes, I do think we've met. Maybe at that tree that hits stuff? What is it called... the willow?" He nodded thoughtfully, quickly adding an introduction. "Oh. Well, I'm Lamik. Lamik Fillestar." Lamik shook Alan's hand gently, slowly recalling that yes, they had in fact met at the willow. With a sheepish smile of his own, the boy spoke up. "I was the boy that you gave the warning too. Thanks for that, by the way. I didn't exactly want to go to detention."

Suddenly Alan offered him something unexpected- a reward. Lamik laughed nervously and shook his head, scratching his arm. "No, I couldn't." You don't do good things for the rewards, after all. That was what his parents had taught him since he was little, and it was what he planned to keep living by for as long as possible. Suddenly, Lamik had a thought. The boy had never tasted a chocolate frog before, even though he had always wanted to. He had heard that they have collectible cards inside of them and wanted to see what they were like. "Well alright. Maybe just one."

Now Alan remembered, at least some of it. They did meet there. ”Whomping Willow”, he corrected him with a slight smile. The next thing confused him. ”I gave you a warning? Detention? I can't give detentions, I am a student...”, he muttered, looking at the boy with a thoughtful frown. ”You mean Nico? The prefect that was there?”, Alan forgot that Luna was there as well. Or well he did not forget she was there, but she had been quiet mostly and Nico was there. He just remembered shouting at that one boy to get away from the Willow and the other boy who seemed like an idiot.

Alan grinned slightly, wondering whether the other boy has eaten Chocolate Frogs before. He thought to remember the blond being a Muggle born, but he was not sure and it might be impolite to ask. He pulled some chocolate frogs from his pocket, wrapped of course and let some of the drop into the other boys hand. Three. They weren't expensive and Alan liked to share. He put his quill away, into a small pencil case. He quickly shoved the case back into his pocket so that he would not drop it or anything and looked back at the boy. ”Y-you can have them, don't think about it much, I have like thousand chocolate frogs-”

Lamik took the chocolate frogs and placed them in his robe for safe keeping. Though he wanted to see what they were like, he decided to save himself the embarrassment of figuring out how to eat something that moves in front of others. Though he had asked for only one, the boy was secretly overjoyed by the fact that Alan had given him three, and the thought that he had a thousand more was so exciting that he Lamik was completely blinded from the fact that a thousand was probably an exaggeration.

"Nico...?" Lamik felt his face redden slightly once he realized the mistake he had made but quickly calmed down once he realized that the second year didn't really seem to mind. So this Alan person wasn't even a prefect? Talk about bad memory. "I guess that they could have been named Nico. I'm absolutely awful with names." He added, remembering how long it had taken him to know his classmate's names by heart during the fourth grade. Lamik grinned and shifted his weight from side to side nervously, trying to think of something to talk about. "I never really understood what was up with that tree, by the way. It did seem extremely dangerous, so why would they have it in a school?"

Alan smiled lightly, as he watched the boy put away the chocolate frogs. He wondered if the other boy ever had some of those, even if not he did not mind. In the end it counted that they were delicious and that they were. Alan took one from his pocket he had and opened the wrapper, carefully holding the wiggling chocolate as he ate a bit. It wasn't really alive, they were just charmed to act like that. Well charmed was not the correct way, it was some kind of potion.

”Either her or that other girl, something with L... Both of them are prefects from the snakes”, he explained, hoping it would help even if it was not really important information. Alan looked at the boy. That was a good question.

”I don't know... It was already there when my parents went to the school-”, he got curious now. Why was there a tree known to be one of the most violent kind of plants on a school ground? ”I don't think I have heard anywhere of its purpose, maybe to protect the school?” Alan glanced around, the willow seemed to be far away from where they were standing at the moment. Maybe they could find out something?

Though he was curious about who the two prefects that Alan spoke of were, Lamik decided that it was best to let the topic go for the moment. He was sure that it wouldn't be too difficult to find out their identities if he tried as prefects tended to be known well throughout the school. They were in charge of making sure that the other students behaved, after all. It was in some ways their jobs to be seen a lot and respected. For a brief moment, Lamik wondered if he should apply to be a prefect. The boy liked helping others and this seemed to be a good way of doing it.

Making a mental note of the possibility, Lamik turned his attention towards the new subject that was introduced into the conversation. "Well that doesn't make much sense..." The boy said, running a hand through his hair. "It's really far away from everything. Even if it wasn't, you could just go around it, couldn't you?" The truth was that Lamik was afraid of the tree. Granted, Lamik was afraid of many, many things inside of Hogwarts and the wizarding world in general, but the idea that a tree, a thing that's famous for being nice and helping life continue, could simply crush you? That was far more concerning than a lot of other mysterious things in the school.
