After an eventful practice at the Quidditch Training Pitch, Koko's limbs were heavy, and she wanted nothing more than a filling, comforting dinner of roast beef and potatoes and perhaps also a cup of tea. Instead, she had none of that. Instead, she had brooms – many, many brooms, nearly too many for her small frame to handle, all of them jumbled together in her arms as she hefted them to the centre of the pitch and unceremoniously dumped them in the grass.

It hurt to do so, but it had to be done. They were in poor condition anyway, rickety old things, the type that she never liked the team to use unless they really needed to, or else for practice. The school brooms were fine; they were safe enough and easy enough to control, but they were not deft, nor were they elegant. They were not what Slytherin wanted to use.

She had sent Quinn Brook an owl instructing the Ravenclaw to meet here at the Quidditch Training Pitch by 18:15. If the girl had elected to grab a snack, that would have given her enough time. It had also given Koko time to prepare the space. She had acquired a pair of Tail-Twig Clippers, some sandpaper and quite a lot of broom wax and polish – some of it from her own supply. She also had brought a book on broom keeping, but she thought it was likely that her instruction would be enough. If not, though, Quinn could always refer to the book.

She really disliked giving detentions; usually, they were just hours of boredom for the Slytherin. However, this time, she had brought her own Oakshaft 79. Once Quinn was done, she might get to polishing the thing. For now, though, she would mount the broom and hover above the grass, seated lazily on the broomshaft. She wore a simple white blouse and long brown trousers, completely lacking any of her usual Quidditch gear.

When Quinn arrived, Koko would wave with a small smile. 'I'm glad you could make it! You'll be maintaining some brooms today.' She would gesture with one hand towards the bundle of brooms haphazardly abandoned on the ground. 'I'm sure you remember the basics of broomcare from your Flying lessons – you should trim any twigs that jut out past the length of your thumb.' She would demonstrate on her own broom. Thankfully, none protruded that far.

'Um... Then you can wax and polish them as you see fit.' She had no reason to be strict about that. Some of the brooms were in great condition; others, not as much. She wouldn't be upset if Quinn misjudged, either; she could always finish the job herself. 'I'll keep an eye on my watch, and once an hour has passed, you'll be free to go. You can ask me any questions if you want, or read one of the books I have here – it's really up to you.'
