The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
Dennis had been waiting for this day since his letter arrived. He had spent every night at the side of his parents bed, asking his dad every possible question to come to mind about what Hogwarts would be like and what he should do, especially what he shouldn't do. Now, he stood in its Great Hall, waiting impatiently for his name to be called.
"Dennis Harris!" And he was bounding up to the stool, holding its sides nervously as he felt thick fabric against his head. Nothing had ever made little Dennis' stomach twist and turn as much as this, his eyes scanning the tables, all the eyes on him as the entire room awaited a decision.
"Hufflepuff!" It called, and he was off. Thunder of claps and cheers as he approached, eyeing the table nervously. A smile had been permanently glued to his face since boarding the train, now was no different. Home away from home, he told himself. That was what his father told him, at least. He said, "if you're anything like me, you'll make a hundred brother and sister on day one!" and little Dennis believed him wholeheartedly. He had heard so many stories from his father, about what friends he would make and what trouble they would get into.It felt to Dennis that this was the start of something grand, something amazing. Thinking of his father made him a bit homesick, but as he looked over the Hufflepuffs ahead of him, nothing but glee and excitement filled him. He looked everyone over as he approached the table, finding a seat among the other first years and offering his toothy grin and a hand. "It's nice to meet everyone!" He happily called over the noise and clatter around him. "I'm Dennis Harris, it's really nice to finally be here!" He offered his hand for a few eager handshakes before planting his behind in his seat, again looking over his fellow puffs.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
Annie clapped with the rest of the table as a few other first years came to join them. She always smiled her shy smile or waved to the new members, welcoming them. Her eyes met a boy who had just been sorted as he made his way over to a seat next to her.
"Well aren't you excited, welcome to Hufflepuff, I'm Annie Morgan, another first year like yourself. Your name's Dennis Harris if I remember correctly, yes?" She motioned to the rest of the table and the Great Hall. "It's pretty unbelievable we are actually here in Hogwarts huh? It's so big I'm sure I'll get lost around here."
Annie laughed lightly and continued watching the ceremony. She turned her head to chat with the Dennis. "Are you from a wizarding family? What classes are you excited for?" Her curiosity got the best of her as she kept asking the boy questions. "Ah, sorry if I'm overwhelming, seriously tell me to be quiet if I become too much." Annie's bangs fell in her face as she giggled and her ears turned red in embarrassment. She began to grow impatient as the ceremony seemed to go on for ages. The only way she wasn't falling asleep right now was through talking with Dennis whom sat next to her.

Dennis turned quickly to find a voice he had assumed was directed at him, his face dropping to one of confusion. "Annie Morgan-" He repeated. "That's a very pretty name." He smiled wide again, shifting in his seat. "This place is amazing, my fathers description does it no justice. I'm worried I wont be able to find the bathroom when I need it!" He offered her another toothy grin and a laugh at his own joke, eyes casting up to the ceiling and the other first years getting sorted around them.
He was snapped from his fog at the sound of Annie's voice again, looking to her again. "Oh no, it's fine! It's good to make new friends. And no, well sort of. My dads side, but not my moms. And, if I'm honest, I don't know what classes there are to take. My dad said they'd teach me all about it once I got here. He's the one who taught me what I know. I never knew about Hogwarts though. Not until a week or so ago, at least." He realized how much he had been talking and laughed quickly. "Look who's talking a lot now." He smiled back at her, his cheeks growing ruby as Annie's own ears had. "What about you? Is your family wizarding? Any classes you're excited for?" His tiny hands played with the hem of his robe, a nervous habit he had always had, as he waited for her response.

"Annie Morgan- "That's a very pretty name." Annie turned a deep shade of scarlet at his remarks. "T-thanks.." She listened to him talk and nodded as he spoke about his family. Annie thought for a second when he asked about her family.
"I'm a half-blood, my mum is a witch and she went to Hogwarts and got sorted into Ravenclaw, she wasn't surprised at all when I got my acceptance letter. My dad on the other hand, well, he's a muggle and got quite the suprise." She gave a small smile at the thought.
Without hesitating Annie answered his next question. "I'm looking forward to Care of Magical Creatures but I don't believe we can take it tell our third year though.." She furrowed her eyebrows in anger. "Well, I also think I'll like Charms and Herbology." Annie shrugged.
"Look who's talking a lot now." She had no retort for his comment and instead gave him a sheepish smile. Her eyes twinkled with a sudden confidence. "You know, I think we'll do just fine, at least I can report back to my mom that I have a friend now so she won't worry as much." Annie let out a small bubble of laughter, her dark brown waves of hair bounced as her body shook with a fit of laughter. She wiped a tear from the corner if her eye, finally calming herself down. "That is to say if you will be my friend, so how about it Dennis Harris?

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
"Of course I'll be your friend!" Dennis beamed, shifting in his seat a little more in excitement. He couldn't stay still, the commotion around him and the new friend he was making, adrenaline pumped through his body faster than light. "Gosh I just can't wait to really get started. I'm excited for the classes too, I think I'm just happy to do anything here." His cheeks had started to hurt, eyes still running back and forth across the room. To Dennis, there was nothing more exciting than this very moment, at least not yet there wasn't. Just from the classes Annie had mentioned, he was imagining all the things he would be doing at Hogwarts. Just from stories his dad had told, he was thrilled for what all he would get himself into while here, and now he had his first friend to explore with! He watched as everyone talked, smiling and cheering at his own table, not so much at some others. There was such a variety of people here, it almost made him nervous again at the thought of maybe not getting along with them all. His dad had always joked about how Dennis could never make an enemy, even if he had tried; though, looking around here, he wasn't sure he could make friends with some of them even if he tried his best. Turning back to his own table, he found he was quite happy with the potential he had to make friends in his own house. And a few tables surrounding him held some inviting faces. Shaking his head, Dennis practically shook the thought right out of his ear. He was excited to be there, simple as that. Hogwarts was huge, an ever-changing maze. He wanted to explore, to get through this ceremony and see what awaited beyond every door.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
Tara's heart fluttered with joy as the house she wanted to be a part of was called out for her. The girl slid off the stool and quickly made her way off the stage, being extremely careful not to trip and make a fool out of herself. She hurried towards the the Hufflepuff table, eager to get out of the spotlight. As she made her way closer, you could see her eyes sparkling with pure joy.
Tara was relieved to notice an empty spot and took her seat. Her nerves had calmed a little now that she was settled and she sent a small smile to the person sitting next to her.
"I'm glad that's done with." she let out a curt, amused laugh, being sure to keep quiet and not disturb the ceremony. "I was full on expecting myself to trip down the stairs." You could tell the girl was still nervous, but she was definitely more relaxed than she had been before. "Oh, um, I'm Tara by the way. Tara Lily." She had a very friendly presence to her, her smile contagious.
Now was the first time Tara felt relaxed enough to actually take in the Great Hall. She had been in awe ever since she lay foot on Hogwarts grounds, but this was just stunning. The reflection of the flickering candles above shimmered in her hazel eyes. She couldn't believe this was actually real.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
Oliver winced.
He wasn't expecting to be put into Hufflepuff, His Grandfather had been a proud Slytherin, and a great one at that. Oliver couldn't help but feel rather guilty. He made an attempt to shake the thoughts from his mind.
With his heart in his throat, he peered over toward the Hufflepuff table, giving a haphazard smile to some of the faces buried in the crowd. He sheepishly ducked his head, as he began wandering toward the table. he planted himself down into the wooden seat, eyeing up and down the table. his leg was bouncing under the table.
He was greeted with smiling candlelit faces and cheerful clamors. the thought of his grandfather that was lingering through his mind began to dissipate, as he let himself sink into the joyful atmosphere around the table.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
@Oliver Lock (and anyone else who wants to join of course)
Carson couldn’t really tell if he should be pleased that he was sorted into Hufflepuff. As far as he knew, he was a “muggleborn”, but he didn’t know what that meant either. Nevertheless, when he’d been sorted, he immediately beelined it to the table decked in yellow and black, sitting down next to the first person he saw. The boy had blonde hair and large, brown eyes, and he looked quite nervous. “Hey,” Carson said, reaching out a hand for the boy to shake, “I’m Carson.” he sighed, raising his eyebrows and giving the boy a sort of ”what can you do?” kind of grin. “Welcome, to Hufflepuff, I guess, though I’m probably not the one who should be telling you— I have no bloody clue what’s going on.” Carson chuckled, though it was true. Hell, he’d been afraid that he’d sat down at the wrong table for a moment there! He liked the atmosphere of it though, it made him feel welcome, and a lot less confused, which was always good. As he’d been waiting to be called up, he’d looked at the other tables— and he had to say, Hufflepuff was his first choice, based off of appearance. Gryffindor would’ve probably been his second, though, and he couldn’t decide between the other two, if he was being honest.

@Carson Miller
“Hey” Oliver straightened up and looked toward the voice quickly.
“I’m Carson.”
Oliver flashed a weak smile toward the boy opposite. reaching out his hand and shaking it lightly.
He had deep brown eyes, and hair. He had a beaming smile on his face.
Oliver couldn’t help but feel a little bit taken aback. Of course, The Hufflepuff table seemed friendly enough, but Oliver hadn’t expected to be spoken too already.
“I’m Oliver.” He said.
He began to feel a warmth in the pit of his stomach, and he forced his shoulders to relax a little.
Oliver could tell that the boy knew he was nervous about the whole thing.
He raised his eyebrows and Oliver chuckled slightly in return.
“Welcome, to Hufflepuff, I guess.” He continued.
“Though i’m probably not the one who should be telling you— I have no bloody clue what’s going on.”
Carson gave a chuckle, and as he did Oliver felt himself sink into the seat beneath him, and felt the muscles in his face loosen a little as he cracked a timid smile toward the boy, chuckling a little in return.
“Were you expecting to be sorted here?” Oliver asked, quietly.
He glanced from his drink and back to the brunette.
“I wasn’t.” he mumbled.
“my family have always been slytherin, or at least my mother was.” He gave a glance past him toward the Slytherin table, chewing the inside of his cheek.
He was worried his grandfather would be unimpressed with him.
he looked back to Carson, quickly smiling.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
Carson shrugged, “I don’t know what I was expecting, to be honest.” he paused for a moment, letting out a sigh of disbelief, “I mean, we are at a magic school right?” Carson laughed, shaking his head slightly. “I wouldn’t worry about the whole Slytherin thing though,” he said, as an attempt to make Oliver feel better. “I think, though I’ve only known you for a few minutes, that Hufflepuff suits you.” Carson said to Oliver, hoping it’d make the boy feel better. “So, your mum is a witch, right?” Carson asked, quickly changing the subject, “What’s she do? I mean, I’ve been thinking about what I want to do when I’m older, but I don’t know my options...” Carson sighed, as the statement was entirely true. He felt like he’d been thrown into a parallel universe, and, combined with the confusion, was an overwhelming sense of loneliness. Hopefully, finding something to work on would help fix that. Or at least, that’s what Carson was counting on. He’d heard of some things, like being an Auror or professional Quidditch player, that interested him. Those, consequently, were the two classes he was the most excited about: Defense Against the Dark Arts and Flying.
