The Hogwarts Express moved forward, and the station disappeared behind Telle as she sat her belongings down in the carriage compartment. She came from a large family, growing up with seven other siblings all girls, she was the middle child, and the first to go to Hogwarts, her older siblings did not have an ounce of magical talent, and as for her younger siblings, it was too early to tell, for the youngest was merely an infant.
She could already feel the distance between herself and her family, her strangeness was always frowned upon, but being a witch, was beyond unacceptable, it disgusted them. Telle sighed, her predicament was an awkward one, to say the least. Still, part of her was relieved, she finally had an explanation to all the unexplainable events that seemed to occur around her. It was just two weeks before her induction into the magical world, she found herself trying to explain to her muggle-school teacher, that the pack of cards had simply disappeared! Her magic was the very reason her family left country Ireland and moved to Dublin, in an attempt to blend in more, as if Telle strangeness would simply go unnoticed in a city. Her parents gave up the farm life because of her, and she always felt her siblings resented her for that. Now she knew her family would never accept her back, going to Hogwarts a school for people just like her was the last straw, with her family dumping her at the station, and diving off without even a Goodbye.
Telle thoughts drifted to Diagon Alley, the trip was amazing, buying all her school items, of particular interest to Telle was her wand, 30.2cm, chestnut wood and snallygaster heartstring. The wand was rather thick, and had several notches to it, giving it a curved look, with a nice smooth handle to grip at the base. The wand properties were that of stubbornness and loyalty to its owner. From what Telle understood her wand was hers and hers alone, an instrument for her to demonstrate her magical abilities. She rather liked it!
As Telle looked out the window, she realised lunchtime was approaching, she heard the compartment door open, looking up she found another first-year standing in front of the doorway.

Lallie and her family stepped on to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. She had been here many times before, since she was an infant. Her brother went to Hogwarts before her and she remembers how sad she would be when he left, and how ecstatic she was when he came back. It always sucked when he was away because her parents compared Lallie to Leo even more when he wasn't there. "Good luck sweetie!" Lallie's mother says giving her a tight bear hug. "I'm sure you'll be just as great as Leo. I'm proud of our soon-to-be Ravenclaw." Lallie's father said ruffling her hair. 'Even when saying goodbye' Lallie thinks straightening her headband. Leo pulled her close and whispers in her ear, "I know you'll do great things Lal." Lallie smiled, Leo may be a jerk at times, but he was still a really great brother.

Lallie stepped on to the train feeling a sudden realization. Last year Leo graduated from Hogwarts and now she's starting in Hogwarts. Her parents are going to expect her to follow in Leo's footsteps. 'Whoopty doo I'm going to be stressing about that for next seven years." Lallie thought sighing.

Lallie looked at all the compartments, none of them seemed to be empty, so-to a introvert's worst nightmare-she was forced to find a compartment with people in it. Walking through the train Lallie kept only finding full compartments. She walked up to to a compartment containing a girl that looked around her age. 'Good, only one person and she's probably a first year so she won't down on me' she thought. "Um hey. Can I sit here?" Lallie asked rubbing the back of her neck.

Diane had never been more excited in her whole life. She had dreamed for so many years about the day she'd go to Hogwarts, and now it was finally here. Though she would miss her family, she was eager about finally getting on the famed Hogwarts Express that she couldn't be bothered to spend too much time with them at the platform. After a quick embrace and goodbye to both her parents and her sister, she hopped on the train with her trunk to find a compartment she could sit in. She hoped she could find one with other first years. Finally, she glanced into a compartment that had two small girls sitting in it.

Diane poked her head in to ask if she could sit there, but then she decided against it. It wasn't like they would say no--both looked too meek and shy to even dream of doing such a thing. She confidently wheeled her trunk in and hoisted it onto the overhead shelf. Out of breath, she tucked a strand of blond hair behind her ear and plopped down onto a bench opposite the redhead. "Gorgeous day isn't it? I can't wait to finally get to Hogwarts. I've heard so much about it," she gushed, barely able to contain her excitement. "All of my family's been in Slytherin, of course, and I'm positive the hat will place me there too. It's only the best and noblest house of them all. What are all your names?" she asked, pointing her question at both of the girls sitting in the compartment.

The blonde girl nodded. Lallie half smiled and lifted her trunk with slight difficulty. She scooched herself into the window seat opposite the girl and placed an ice blue book on the table with a snowflake on the center of the front cover. Opening it she began to read. She knows that it may be rude to ignore the girl, but she's not going to initiate a conversation unless the girl across from her wants to. Right now she just wants to read and de-stress.

The sound of the compartment door opening made Lallie look up from her book. Putting her trunk into the upper compartment was a girl that looked similar to the girl opposite of her. She cocked her head as she sat down. 'Was she sitting down before I came in? If not why didn't she ask to come into the compartment' she thought looking at the girl. Her brother always complained when a student would walk into a compartment and just sit down so Lallie assumed it was an unspoken edict to ask to sit down. Lallie felt awkward as this girl started talking. She normally doesn't mind boisterous, and loud people, after all, her house was full of them, but the compartment was so quiet before this and she just wanted to read. "Y-yeah I guess it is a nice day. I-i'm Lallie," she said quietly.

The train was packed with bright eyed students, some excited for their inaugural journey to Hogwarts whilst others were simply excited to get away from their families, their younger siblings or overbearing parents. One could suppose Jürgen was the former, a first year student en route to Hogwarts for the very first time. There was a sense of apprehension, excitement and of course fear, it accompanied uncertainty and the novel nature of this experience. Many of the cars were packed with older students or at the very least people that knew one another.

Inside each window of each car Jürgen passed he would pause a moment and look inside. Too full. Too old. Too familiar. That was until he found one car occupied by just a pair of girls. They looked like they were about his age. His hand hovered over the knob in hesitation.

His intention was to meet new people. Forge something with his fellow wizard. He would pull the door open and give them both a warm smile as he adjusted his glasses on the bridge of his nose. "Ladies," he tucked an arm behind his back and gave them a courteous bow. "My mother has always told me to treat a lady with dignity and respect," he announced as he rose again to his full height. He was slightly tall for his age but not exceedingly so.

"Would you mind if I joined you?"

He would wait for their answer before he stepped a foot inside. If he was offered a seat he would step forward and gently close the door behind him. "My name is Jürgen Hess," he would announce as he took a seat nearest the first of the three to accept him into their car, if they did that is.

“Good to meet you Lallie. I’m Diane Wright,” Diane replied confidently. She stuck out her hand to shake the other girl’s. As she did so, she noticed the book that Lallie was holding. “Whatcha reading? Is it about magic? I’ve read all of our textbooks, and it looks like we aren’t doing anything interesting this year. All the real fun isn’t until third year,” she continued, oblivious to Lallie’s discomfort.

When the boy walked into their compartment, interrupting Diane mid-sentence with his pretentious introduction, she immediately shot him an indignant glare. The bit about treating ladies with dignity and respect seemed a bit pompous to her. With a raised eyebrow, she replied coldly, “Do you expect praise for that? A cookie, perhaps?” Immediately, she felt a little guilty for being mean. What if he would turn out to be a fellow Slytherin? She didn’t want to start off on the wrong foot with a fellow student before school even started. Still maintaining her cold manner, she added, “I suppose you may sit with us.” She noticed the other blonde girl who she was sitting next to still hadn’t spoken, so she turned back around to her. “Muggle borns, am I right?” she huffed with a roll of her eyes. “Acting like they own the place.”

It would seem that he was unwanted here. He could accept that, the boy was not everyone's flavor. He shrugged as she went on a brief sarcastic tirade he might have deserved, not that he had the chance to wrong her yet.

"Well, I beg your pardon," the young wizard announced with a smile and a nod. "I suppose I chose the wrong car," he ceded as he took a step back from the compartment that housed the small bevy of girls.

She changed her mind, as if she would tolerate his very existence. He simply shook his head. "I do not wish to be a bother," he exhaled as he stepped back into the cramped hall in time for her to reference 'muggle borns.' "Have a good day ladies. I apologize for the trouble."

The door would slide closed behind him and he would turn his gaze further down the hall. On to the next compartment. It was not that he was not miffed. It was not that he did not think she was a termagant. It was not that he feared conflict. It was that this was his first day and his first impression and his first impression would not be putting some snotty little girl in her place.

Topic Left.

Lallie took Diane's and shook it. One thing she could tell about Diane is that she's the complete opposite of Lallie. She's confident, extroverted, and well, loud. She hoped that Lallie and Diane would develop a "opposites attract" sort of relationship since Lallie doesn't like disliking people. However, from what Lallie could tell that probably won't be the case.

"Oh, this thing?" Lallie says picking up the book she's reading, "It's-". She's about to tell Diane about the book when a dark-haired boy opened the compartment. She cocked her head at his introduction. His comment was one of the most pleasant things she's heard since she's stepped on this train, but why did he add that bow with the introduction? It was a little bit formal, but she ignored it.

Lallie turned to Diane raising an eyebrow. That was rather rude of her to say. The boy was just trying to be friendly, so why be so cold. She felt bad when the boy left. Lallie knew she could've intervened, but she didn't really like confrontation and she didn't know how Diane would react.

Lallie's mouth hung open in complete disbelief on what Diane said just said. What kind of world was Diane in where she thought it was ok to put muggle borns down like that? Lallie grew up in a family, neighborhood, and school where it was shamed upon to discriminate based on their blood status. Pure-blood, half-blood, or Muggle-born, it shouldn't matter. We're all a special part of the human race that possess the ability to do amazing things, why should we discriminate each other?

The girl standing in front of Telle seemed awkward, almost like she did not wish to be here. The girl spoke, "Um, hey. Can I sit here?" rubbing her neck as she asked.

Telle replied "Sure you can, no need to be so nervous" The girl took a seat and opened a book to read, she seemed to be a little on edge, so Telle left her to be.
Telle looked out the window, enjoying the view of the fields as the train made its way towards Hogwarts. Again the compartment door opened, and a girl walked right in, placing her belongings overhead, without a word, she sat next to Telle. The girl seemed confident, although a different form to Telle's own confidence, it was more visible, Telle's confidence took a more subtle form.

Finally, the girl spoke, "Gorgeous day, isn't it? I can't wait to finally get to Hogwarts. I've heard so much about it," the girl was unable to contain her excitement.
"All of my family's been in Slytherin, of course, and I'm positive the hat will place me there too. It's only the best and noblest house of them all. What are all your names?

The girl seemed so confident she'd be in Slytherin, although Telle did not know much about the sorting or the Hogwarts houses. However, it seemed kinda ignorant to Telle to assume to know your house before the sorting.
"Y-yeah I guess it is a nice day. I-i'm Lallie" Said the girl who arrived earlier. Telle smiled in response; it was nice to put a name to a face.
"Good to meet you, Lallie. I'm Diane Wright,
"I'm Telle, its quite a lovely day, pleased to met you, Diane" Diane did not seem to hear Telle for she asked Lallie "Whatcha reading? Is it about magic?" Telle didn't mind, for she could introduce herself later.

"Oh, this thing?" Lallie gestured towards the book, "It's-". She stopped mid-sentence, the conversation was interrupted, a boy stood at the compartment door.
Diane was glaring at him while he spoke, he had a certain way about him, a sort of boldness that stemmed from ignorance, for his opening line was "Ladies!" adding a bow as if he was making some grand gesture towards them. He looked like an idiot to Telle, and neither of the girls seemed interested in responding. However, the hint was not taken on board, and he continued to talk, muttering something about respect and dignity when it comes to ladies, he seemed to feel the need to stand strong at the end. He was amusing to Telle, and yet she felt as if she judged him too harshly, and realised perhaps he hadn't had many friends that were girls, or he came from a highly regarded family. In the send the boy requested if he could join their carriage, Telle couldn't see why not, although Diane did not seem impressed. And spoke coldly
"Do you expect praise for that? A cookie, perhaps? "I suppose you may sit with us."
Diane now looked directly at Telle and spoke " Muggle-borns, am I right?" "Acting like they own the place." Lallie mouth was hanging open in response. Telle looked at Diane, she didn't think it be wise to mention she was muggle born, but instead said, "You don't know what his background is, best not to assume, you could be mistaken, and you seem to disapprove of Muggle-borns, I wonder why that is, by the way, my name is Telle"

Meanwhile, the boy muttered something and left, Telle felt sorry for him.
(Sorry I took so long to reply, I hope I got the situation and the characters correct)

"It's a pleasure, Telle," Diane replied boldly. Lallie and Telle both still looked shocked at her comment, so she added, a little pompously, "Of course, you all probably think I'm prejudiced. That is not the case; however, my parents have taught me of the distinctions between wizarding society and Muggles, and although I have nothing against muggle-borns, I understand that they have been brought up in ways different than the rest of us." With that, she settled comfortably into her seat, hoping to have put the matter to rest.

"What's your last name again?" she asked Telle. Diane had assumed the other two girls in the compartment were pure-blood, of course; they both seemed far too pleasant to be anything otherwise. Her parents had gone to school at the same time as Harry Potter, and they had told her that Harry and his friend, the Granger girl, had been raised by Muggles and it showed in the way they strutted confidently around the castle, breaking rules at will. Their other friend, the Weasley boy, hadn't been much better, which made sense because his family was all a bunch of blood traitors. Diane shuddered in disgust at the very thought. She hoped no such rule-breakers would be present during her time at Hogwarts.

Suddenly, Diane remembered what she had been talking about before that boy had interrupted. Turning to Lallie, the red-haired girl, she asked kindly, "Sorry, what were you saying before about the book you're reading?" If Diane played all her cards right, she could walk into Hogwarts with two good friends already by her side.
