The Grand Feast

xxxxxThere was a genuine smile on Tristan's face as he silently made his way towards the feast that was set before the students for summer camp, ready to enjoy the food and sweets that came with it. The great abundance of food was quite a sight yet Tristan wondered where the food would all go after the students were finished. Would stasis charms be cast upon the food? Would they be donated to those who were less fortunate in the wizarding world? Would it not be better if the wizarding world could secretly donate all the abundance of food created by the house elves in Hogwarts and by the chef in this case, to those who were starving in the muggle world? If food could be so easily duplicated through magic, why couldn't the statute of secrecy be a little ignored to give extra food to those who were poor or running out of food? The muggles would never question where the food came from and they would never know it came from magic after all. Why couldn't weather-changing charms be cast in areas of severe drought? The muggles would never suspect magic and deem it as a change in weather anyway. However, he as a fifteen-year-old could not make sudden changes to the law, only influence the opinions of those around him to be kinder and more accepting of muggles and perhaps influence magic theorists to figure out a way to combine magic with electricity so that finally, some normal twenty-first-century muggle items could be brought into Hogwarts, such as a better transport system than a magically enhanced steam engine train. However, despite all that, all there was to do today was to enjoy the food and help others in small ways so that was what he was about to do. So he sat down and grabbed a few bites, drank some hot chocolate, and relaxed as he listened to the chatter around him. There was a beauty in the chatter of kids according to his late tutor and Tristan could not help but agree in this moment. There was truly a beauty in a crowd of innocent kids where happiness abounded. He wondered if there were any cold drinks as he was feeling hot at the moment but he was grateful for good food and drinks either way. A little heat wouldn't do him much harm in his youth anyway.

Guin watched as Prat pushed off from the wall, slowly gaining speed and visible confidence. She was pretty impressed, actually, with how fast the younger boy had picked up the skills, and watched how he gradually was able to skate fast with little to no wobbles. This was the type of feeling she liked; it gave her a different type of joy to be able to pass on something she liked to do to someone else, but also she had that proud feeling that boosted her ego.
While Prat was zooming around, she busied herself by practicing her flying camel spin. She remembered learning it when she was younger and falling splat on the ice. In no time, she noticed Prat skating up again, who then asked her how to do the spins she was doing earlier.
"Hmm, well, these spins obviously aren't something you learn in a day, but I'd suggest maybe start with a two foot spin or a one foot spin," she said. "Here, I'll demonstrate." For the two foot spin, she started in the basic T position and pushed, but instead of going straight ahead, she put her other foot on the ice at the same time and curved to the left, hooking the edge around into several little circles on the ice. "Same as before, you can keep your arms out for balance, or tuck them in to get a faster spin. Same goes for the one foot spin, where you'll be spinning on your left foot. You can also try some jumps! I feel like you'll learn them quite fast. There are six jumps in skating. Salchow, toeloop, loop, flip, lutz, and axel. But we all start at waltz jumps, since it's only a half rotation jump." She skated in a circle backwards picking up speed, and pushed off on her left foot, jumped and spun half a rotation, and landed on her right foot. "That was a waltz," she said. "Here, hold on to the wall when you try it."

As Alyssea cheered him on Lemmy couldn’t have been a happier kid as his glided across the ice. The smile that split his face would leave sore cheeks later, but the memory he was building in his mind was totally worth it! He had never been much of an athletic child and though his family was always supportive of the lad, he had never really been celebrated for a physical feat before and this kid was hooked on the feeling! Maybe the little goblin was born to be a sports star! His strong imagination was getting the best of him. “Thanks, Alyssea!”

Yet a new challenge would soon arise to test his mettle further. Going straight was one thing, but turning on the thin blades seemed nigh impossible! Have no fear though as his newfound friend and coach was there to guide him. “Okay!” Lemmy gave a thumbs up as he watched Alyssea skate around him as instructed. She moved with such skill and grace! He silently vowed to keep practicing so that he too one day could skate like her. “Like this?” Lemmy tried to shift his balance like she did and even attempted to let his other skate drift, but all he accomplished was a pair of shaky legs. “Woah!” He smiled through the bit of fear and let his hands reach out to hers. However a thud and a call for help drew both of their attentions to another kid.

“Yeah! Listen to Alyssea. She’s a great coach!” Lemmy encouraged the newcomer as he did his best to maintain his balance. “Here! I’ll try too!” He wanted the other kid to feel like it was ok to be learning. “This is my first time skating. Isn’t it really hard!” Lemmy giggled as he attempted to get down on one knee, but all he accomplished was to fall forward as his skates slipped backwards. “Oh!” The fall scared him as he made impact with the ice. “Ha! Not as bad as I thought though.” He began squirming around before trying Alyssa’s technique of standing up again. “I’m Lemmy by the way. Nice to meet you!”

Interacting with @Mylo Atkins & @Uri Davies as Anichka Volosin
It was definitely clear that Mylo was a kind person who only wanted to help. He was the type to want to follow the social norms and rules and be there for others. Any other person would have loved that kind of person, but Colby felt odd about it. Someone who just met her wanted to make sure that she felt comfortable. Who does that? There had to be some boundaries to kindness, right?

Even though it was a helpful offer, Colby would not accept. Not because it was his act of kindness, but rather it was the fact that she would have to smell him all the time. Her ability after turning into a werewolf last year was her heightened sense of smell. If he was the type to not wear deodorant or had a particular smell on his clothes, she would not be able to handle that. Her parents now wash their clothes with non-scent detergent. Although her mother would have rather a fresh clothing smell after doing laundry, she was aware of how much it affected Colby.

"No thanks," she said, shutting down his offer. She would not tell him the reason why, however. Colby was still learning how to accept her full-moon curse, and still does not share it with others. "You're too nice to people, you know that?" she asked, a small smirk on her face.

Shifting her face to the girl, Colby could see that the girl was trying to answer her question. Colby was not great with languages, but she could have sworn that she had spoken two different languages prior to understanding her. She had no idea what languages they were, but they were very different from each other. When she finally stated her name and what school she went to, Colby nodded, showing validation that she understood her.

"I'm probably not going to remember your name, but it's nice to meet you," she honestly shared. "I haven't heard much about Durmstrang. What makes it different?" she asked.

Colby could be wrong, but it seemed like the girl was not feeling comfortable in their conversation. She cocked her head to the side. It seemed like this girl, who was stuffing her face in needed something to help her. But was Colby really the person to help someone? Perhaps it was more that Colby wanted to do something else.

She looked around and saw that skating was open and a lot of people were enjoying themselves. Now that Colby was warmer from the snowman's clothing, thanks to Mylo, it was only appropriate to join in on the stupid winter festivities they had to offer.

"Do you guys want to skate?" she asked them, seeing if they were up for it. Even if they were not, she would just go on her own. Colby had no idea how to skate, but it looked pretty easy from how others were learning and trying on their own. "It's better than stuffing your face with food," she said jokingly to the Durmstrang girl.

Elena could barely brush the top of the pancake before it was brutally snatched away from her reach. She protested, but before she could finish her sentence, the thief stuffed the entire pancake in their mouth. She stared at them, too stunned to utter a word. What the— They had striking green eyes, brown hair, and a playful smile. Elena could sense their love for chaos and mischief. But stealing pancakes? That was a crime.

Although they seemed like a nice person, they had stolen Elena's coveted pancakes. It was a serious offense. "Uh... Sorry, but all rules no longer exist when it comes to pancakes," they said, looking slightly - very slightly - guilty. Elena scoffed, but her smirk lingered as she found the whole situation both upsetting and amusing. She raised an eyebrow. "Even basic politeness? Did your parents never tell you not to steal from helpless ladies?" she asked with a frowning expression, but her voice carried the beginning of laughter.

Her stomach growled, a painful reminder of the dire loss she had endured. Luckily for her and the person in front of her—because you do not want to see her starving—berries were scattered across the table. Spotting strawberries, she grabbed a handful, eating a few before turning back to them. "You're lucky they are strawberries on this table or war would have been declared," she said, giving them an up-and-down look. They were very elegant; although dressed casually, they carried themselves with a certain presence. But that effect was somewhat countered by their constant fidgeting, as if they were a real dynamo.

Elena chuckled, her gaze falling back on the stadium. She saw her tentmates, Alexandria, Prat, Kenzie, and Aston, chatting and laughing. She smiled lightly, hoping she would get along with them during the summer camp as they seemed already close. Her gaze fell on the ice rink, memories of her mother teaching her to skate flooding back. As she was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly noticed them staring at her. She jumped slightly, realizing she had been dissociating for quite a while now. Her eyes narrowed as she glanced at them. "You shouldn't stare at people like that, you know?" she laughed.

In all honesty Akari had not necessarily planned on attending summer camp this time around. The entire past year especially following her situation with a certain boy, she’d spent it hiding away and burying herself within books and her studies. But upon returning home once the school year ended, Akari’s mother noticing her aloof state convinced her to return early for summer camp, thinking it would be good for her to be around people without the pressure of school looming over everyone’s heads just yet. Without the heart to argue Akari agreed, and hence here she was.

Since arrival she’d still been keeping to herself mostly, seemingly uninterested in everyone and their company, preferring to be left to her own thoughts, day dreaming and getting lost in the depths of whatever thought appeared in her mind at that moment.

Although Akari was aware there would be a great feast, as there always was once all the schools had arrived and settled in, she was still late to the scene. With a grumbling stomach, she hurried along in hopes that all the delicious food had not been devoured yet. Once acquiring a plate with all her favourites, she found a spot that was relatively empty and as such bit quieter, away from the loud shouts and volume coming from the other campers.

It was only after she sat down and took the first few bites of her meal that she fully took in her surroundings. The winter in summer theme was certainly eye catching. Her previous hunger had not allowed her to appreciate it all. Her favourite season was winter after all so this was truly lovely. They even had an ice rink, what a nice touch! She could not remember how long it had been since she had put on a pair of ice skates and enjoyed the feeling of gliding smoothly across the rink.

Though seeing all the people all over the place, filling up the large stadium completely, she sighed to herself softly, this wasn’t exactly the quiet and relaxing summer she had in mind.

Thankfully, it seemed like she wouldn't be spending all night on the ice today. Pulling herself up onto her knee, she shakily attempted to get to her feet. After a few false starts she was safely balanced on the rinks floor again. Or as balanced as she was going to get. This was not as easy as it looked in movies, where the guy would just hold the girls hand once and she would just bam have instant skating knowledge. Instant skating knowledge was looking more and more like a dream the more she learned. Part of the fun was in learning honestly, and no sport was the same without dramatic tales of falls and incidents. Reaching out her arms and bending her knees like the smaller boy did, she glided slowly over the ice.

Once she had found her balance a little bit more, she took a very slow step forwards. It was more of a glide than the run she had tried before, and it honestly felt kind of magical. Not quidditch tier, but close. "This is not what I was expecting at all" she let out a laugh "Still, kind of cool". Not disappointing, just different. Quidditch was the main reason she had come all the way to England for this camp, but the camp itself was shaping up to be quite the attraction on its own. Knowing English was saving her neck here with so many other schools and languages around. "Im a castelobruxo student myself. You?" she directed the question to both of her fellow skaters, then quickly looked away again at her feet. Falling over again was not on the list of things she had planned for today.

Her guess was that they were Hogwarts students with their accents and the ease which they spoke English. Perhaps she would be seeing them later on the quidditch pitch. All pleasantries and prior connections were gone once you left the ground, and anyone who tried to be nice in the air was being stupid. That being said, she wasn't stupidly competitive enough to insist that her friends were only from her school. Other schools were great as well, at least until they on the opposite end of the pitch.

OPENING FEAST/COOKIE DECORATING
It was the start of a brand new summer!!! Tone was looking forward to seeing how things would turn out this year, especially since school was out of the year until summer was over. He hadn't been able to do that much over the past year because Tone had been too laser focused with trying to obtain gold robes. It had ended in failure and lots of regret but Tone was bound and determined to make amends to all of those he had neglected over that period of time. But first, he wanted to check all that camp had to offer this particular time.

First on the itinerary was the opening feast and cookie decorating kind of activity which sounded delicious! The white haired teen was pretty sure they could eat their own creations after making them, right? He was definitely going to sample the product afterward, even if it was just a little taste if it wasn't allowed. Making a summer camp have a winter theme was awesome and he wondered how it wasn't ever done before until now.

Three food-laden tables stretched out before all the entering students and Tone quickly grabbed a plate and filled it with a variety of food from all of the three tables. Filling his stomach with some cuisine was the best way to start things off. Afterward, he'd check out the hot cocoa and cookie decorating stuff nearby. It was around this time that he saw a familiar face nearby. He'd seen her around before. "Hey! Rai, isn't it?" Tone called out to her with a smile. "You should grab some food, it's actually pretty tasty!" He told her, hoping she'd come over and take a seat by him. That way he'd be able to get to know her a bit more. But if she didn't, he'd go over to her.

Briefly mentioning @Lucia Fox as Cassie Heather McGregor-Martin
Drew didn't want to be at summer camp. He was just getting some progress with the mystery surrounding his parents, when his grandmother had reminded him that summer camp was the very next week. She had assumed, he guessed with good reason, that he wanted to go this year, since he had gone every other year that he was able to. He had been upset with her for making him go, but he couldn't stay mad with her for long- she probably already sent him because she thought he needed it- friends, staying in a tent, broom racing, activities...

She was wrong. What he needed was the truth.

But Drew had decided he wasn't going to sulk the whole time- he was at least going to make the most of it, so he had decided to come to the big welcoming feast that the committee had planned. It also helped that he knew for sure there was going to be food there, because what kind of teenage boy would he be if he turned down free food?

He had been pretty surprised by the winter theme- it was creative, he had to give that to the planning committee, but he was more of a summer guy anyway, so he hoped there would be at least a couple warm activities. He did think the activities looked fun at the feast, though.

Well, they would probably be fun if he had somebody to do them with.

Not that Drew didn't have friends- he had loads of friends. There were all kinds of kids at Ilvermorny that he had loose relationships with. He went to plenty of hangouts at school, did lots of broom challenges that were probably against the rules, and knew just about everybody in his class. He just didn't have any good friends. Nobody who really, truly, got him. Him and Gregori had drifted apart, and he didn't even know what happened to Charles and Scarlett. Cassie was probably around somewhere, but while he enjoyed her company, she probably had other friends if she was here, and he didn't want to bother her.

Drew waved at a couple of kids he recognized as he came in the feast, and then started helping himself. He could probably find a table of boys he recognized and just jump in with them- maybe their boisterous attitudes would help him loosen up and enjoy this summer camp.

Just as he finished serving himself, he scanned the tables for somebody he knew. While he did see an expected table of guys that he knew, his gaze snagged on somebody else.

He remembered her from... was it that long ago? Almost four years ago, he had met her and asked her to the ball. He didn't remember too many of the specifics, but he did remember how absolutely smitten he had been with her. Looking back, second-year Drew wouldn't have admitted it, but he had a huge crush on her. They had a wonderful night, but had unfortunately fallen out of touch since then. He hadn't seen her since, though he had always kept an eye out for the girl.

Akari. Akari Kato.

Before he could even consider his choice, he found himself walking towards her.

She was older, and a lot about her had changed in her features. He guessed that wasn't abnormal for kids their age- he had probably aged in his appearance, too. She was still Akari, but she seemed different. He didn't know why she was tucked away in a corner by herself, but he was determined to remedy that.

"Akari," he said, coming in earshot. "Do you remember me?" he asked, with a grin. It had been a while, but he was hoping that she did, otherwise it would be quite a blow to his pride. He certainly remembered her- nothing had, unfortunately, happened between the two of them, but that had been one of the best nights of his life, that ball in his second year. "Is it okay if I sit with you?"

Rose had to admit that quite a few good things had happened at summer camps in the past, but everything seemed different now. So many of her friends that seemed to make the summer camps memorable had faded out of her life, whether they had drifted apart or moved away, and instead of braving this summer camp on her own with little interaction with her siblings, she found herself walking in with her two younger siblings by her side- Gabriel and Jessica. They had been together most of the summer, their shared negative experiences over last winter break just bringing them closer than ever before. Rose still refused to talk to her older brother, and though she felt a couple of twinges of guilt over leaving him alone all summer, she knew he deserved the silent treatment from her. They were a little bit later than the crowd that had gathered- she told herself she was fashionably late, but that was just to make herself feel better.

This year's summer camp was magnificent- Rose had to hand it to the organizing committee- they were one talented bunch for choosing this theme, and putting together all of this. Ice skating, a hot cocoa bar... there was everything winter and snow. Rose had thankfully brought some warmer clothes once hearing about the theme, and was nice and cozy in her favorite article of clothing- a sweater.

The three siblings went through the line together, gathering the foods they liked, before Jess and Gabe both spotted their friends. Rose knew both were much more popular and outgoing than she was, and she reassured them that she'd find someone to sit with. There were people here she knew, including Mylo, all of whom she'd give a wave to if they happened to make eye contact.

But she had noticed a pink-haired student sitting by himself, and instead of approaching one of her friends, took a better look at him. He was sharp-featured, looked around her age, and seemed a little... off.

Well, being in a country that may not be his own, since she didn't recognize him as a Hogwarts student, she would understand if maybe he was a little overwhelmed by all the new people and the new country. Rose knew how it felt to be lonely, and she wasn't about to just stand there and not try and keep him company. What's the worst thing that could happen?

The redhead mustered her courage, and went up to him. "Hey, I'm Rose," she said, introducing herself. "Are you alright?" she asked. She hoped he wouldn't think that she was up on her high horse, but that he would see she was genuinely trying to help him out.
