A new furry friend

Anna skipped down the cobbled stone of Diagon Alley, spinning around and yelling for her parents to go faster. Aiden and Madeline simply chuckled but still sped up their pace trying to keep up with their daughter. Anna spent the whole summer convincing them to get a pet that can come with her to Hogwarts. She was a bit lonely during her first year, yes she met many great friends, but she wanted someone not to talk to but to just be there for her and keep her company. She finally managed to convince them at the beginning of the school year, when she wanted to she could be very convincing. She noted that she was already caring for two Abraxan foals and that she is almost thirteen now and should be able to care for a pet on her own, she even saved up money all on her own. And so here they were in front of the Magical Menagerie.

Anna stood in front of the door, she straightened her back and fixed her clothes, not waiting for her parents anymore she confidently entered. Madeline looked after her with pride in her eyes, and Aiden smirked nodding to himself, their little girl was growing up.

Immediately upon entry Anna was hit by a variety of smells, pleasant and not not so pleasant. Her eyes darted from animal to animal, now not so sure what pet to get. She walked around, taking notice of an older couple by the counter, chatting happily. 'Must be the owners', Anna thought then looked away. A screech caught her attention and she looked over to where the owls where. A regal looking Great White Owl was looking straight at her. Anna went to take an excited step forward, but the owls started flapping their wings, so she stepped back instead. Looking at the majestic beasts she thought about it more and then promptly turned around.

She looked at some smaller pets like pygmy puffs and rats and toads, but none caught her interest. Then she moved to cats, there were so many species! Some where playful, some quiet, some very loud and some sleepy. She locked eyes with a pitch black Midnight Stalker, the cat stared without blinking, and Anna held it's gaze. It seemed like the cat was going to pounce at her so the girl stepped sideways and brushed against something very soft.

She looked down on the counter and saw that her hand brushed against a beautiful blue-eyed Chartreux. The cat immediately started purring and nudging Anna's arm. Forgetting everything else, Anna smiled and started stroking the cats lovely fur. The cat kept purring louder, and Anna smiled gently. The cat was just barely bigger than a kitten, so she couldn't be over a year old. Anna carefully picked up the cat, which affectionately put her head in Anna's elbow, sniffing at her outfit.

Practically floating over to the main counter she took out her purse and sweetly said to the couple: "I'd love to adopt her please". The woman smiled and took her coins, talking to Anna about the species of her cat and how to best care for her and some other tips and tricks. Meanwhile the man brought over a carrier for the cat and helped Anna put her inside comfortably. Smiling and thanking them again she skipped outside holding onto the carrier tightly. Her parents were still waiting in front of the shop.

"Maman, papa, rencontrer mon chatte! Ashe!".Mom, dad meet my cat! Ashe!
