Oh the Joy of Potions

The potions classroom was located in the dark and gloomy dungeons of the great castle. Down the stairs, all the way to the bottom.
Surrounded by dark and shadowy stone walls, lined with jars and phials containing all sorts pf mysterious ingredients. Very few windows to let the morning sunrays shine through, making the room dim and eery. It wasn’t a very happy place to be, at least not for some. Perhaps that was why many students did not enjoy potions? Simply because of the surroundings of the class, but still, it was a necessary subject.
The unexplainable smell of the strange mixtures and ingredients filled the room, and the smoke from the heating cauldrons was potent. It could sting the nostrils, or please them. The cold air could be felt upon ones skin and the bubbling of brewing potions could be heard at all times.
River walked alongside this newly introduced girl, with blond curls and hufflepuff robes, down the stairs, and along the stretched corridors of the castle.
If River had not forgotten that bloody potions book this morning, she most likely would have been walking alone. She was almost a little unsure of whether she was happy she had forgotten her book or not, as she laid her eyes upon the girl next to her.
She had an aura of light around her, something which River was not very used to. She could not tell if it was something she enjoyed or not. Her main reason for inviting Primrose to sit together, was because of her need for a textbook, but perhaps her mind would change? First impressions were important, and River’s first impression of this hufflepuff was not the best. She was knocked to the ground by her clumsiness, and that was not appreciated. Still, the Ravenclaw had some sympathy for the girl, as she too, had a history of clumsy incidents and accidents in her time at Hogwarts.
River stepped carefully into the classroom, and nodded politely to the professor as she did. Her head turned to Primrose as she said, «So, where would you like to sit?», River had a favourite spot, but it was already taken by a slytherin boy.

Oh the Joy of Potions
Primrose had always felt that the dungeons and potions classroom was uncomfortable, eerie and slightly creepy- it always felt as if anything had the ability to hide and stare in the shadows and messy potion shelves. It also reminded her of Uncle Philip's work-place. The constant smell of boiling potions and lit fires, the odd ingredients and tools used to create wonderful and horrifying things with just some skill and pure experience in the subject. No, Primrose had never enjoyed Potions. She felt her skin crawl as she entered the room, maybe part of it was fear of the future- seeing the very things her parents wanted her to pursue to some degree due to pure tradition; while they weren't pushy her grandmother Rosabelle had always hinted that she would love if Primrose got into potioneering later on in her life- however her grandfather Alfred was more into the girl becoming a wand-maker in the end.@River Dewlight
''So, where would you like to sit?''
The questioned brought Primrose out of her rather sad thoughts, it wasn't really time to have a crisis over the future right now. Her blue eyes scanned the room, finding a place that wasn't too close to the professor nor too far away in the back and nodded to the table.
''There's a spot there'' She hummed, gladly walking over and sitting down though her nerves were still very clearly showing. Primrose was awful at this subject and just the pure presence of a potions professor, be it the former one; Nagal or this new one caused her tension to raise to a good 100. Wait, new one?
''Oh, right.'' Primrose stated, more to herself out of surprise. ''We were getting a new Professor''
The Hufflepuff carefully read the name on the blackboard, Elliot price? Well alright then. Primrose had been the one to inform Isaac but clearly had forgotten the information she had so jokingly passed along to the boy, that's what she gets for not keeping a proper look on dates.
''It somehow slipped my mind'' She awkwardly rubbed the back of her head, shrugging and opening her potions book.
''Do you have yours with you, or do you want to share?'' Primrose knew that if there was one book people forgot, it was the potions book- more often than not she felt like the blasted things just got legs and walked off honestly, she had never been able to prove that theory however.

Oh the Joy of Potions

River followed slowly as Primrose walked uo to a free spot in the classroom. River's head turned to look at the porfessor as soon as Primrose mentioned getting a new one. She wasn't someone who forgot things easily, and she had remembered the new professor who were having their first lesson today. What a great first impression I'm setting by forgetting my bloody textbook in his first class... River thought, getting really annoyed with herself.@Primrose Edwards
''Do you have yours with you, or do you want to share?'', River looked at Primrose with large eyes. She didn't even have to ask if they could share. But I can't let her know I was stupid enough to forget my book.
"Oh, that's nice, I actually couldn't find my book last night, perhaps someone were playing a prank or something and hid it...", River answered, and shrugged slightly. She was a liar of nature, and she didn't feel bad about it. Not that it was the worst lie in the world either.
River reached her pale hand into her bag, and brought out her ink, quill and parchment. Notes were a specialty of hers. She actually enjoyed taking notes quite a lot, and would always take as many as she felt was necessary. Perhaps even a little too many at times. She always found them very useful none the less.
"I hope we're doing something interesting today", River said, and looked up towards the blackboard. It didn't say what they were doing yet, but River knew she'd probably have some interest in it no matter what it was. Anything to help her on to becoming as good as she possibly would manage was interesting to her. Knowledge is truly ones way to improvement. That was something she'd always believed. And it probably explained her Ravenclaw side quite well.

Oh the Joy of Potions
Primrose pushed the potions book towards the center of the table, taking out her own Quill and Parchment as she moved her hair out of the way.@River Dewlight
''I just hope that I don't burn myself again'' She muttered, born nervous for the class and also absolutely dreading the possibility of embarrassing herself in front of River. She was a bit intimidating somehow, but also someone Primrose knew would be a good friend- then again she thought that about everyone.
She watched the professor introduce himself with a raised eyebrow, smiling at the honestly welcomed change in the classroom. Professor Nagal must've gotten grey hairs early because of her honestly, at least with the amount of things she had blown up the past weeks he remembered her name easily.
''Forgetfulness potion? we did go through this with Professor Nagal, but never really got to make it because of the whole..60 minutes of rules'' Primrose hummed, more to herself than anything as she wrote down what the Professor was saying, as well as getting some help from the book. She had no issues with this part, the note-taking or fact-checking; as well as the spell-casting part of potions. It was the ingredient preparing, the descriptions always being so disgustingly vague was the worst of her potion career. Short-lived as it will be.
''I will warn you though- I seriously don't get what sort of measurements 'medium-fine' powder is for anything. It doesn't explain anything to me.''

ReducioHello!
I am so incredibly sorry for dissapearing so suddenly.
I am now finished with finals and exams and will be back and active from now on.River was taking notes, even before the professor had begun speaking. She wrote his name down, and added some extra notes here and there. Screatching her quill along the surface of the parchment, almost like the quill was simply moving on its own. Placing word after word in River’s neat handwriting.@Primrose Edwards
''I just hope that I don't burn myself again'', Primrose said, as River’s pale hand reached out to dip the quill in some ink.
«I assume you’re not too fond of potions then?», River said coldly, not taking her eyes off the paper as she spoke. She was now jotting down all the important and useful things the professor said. Forgetfulness potion. River had already taken notes on that potion, so she carefully flipped her notebook back a few pages, and found her old notes.
''I will warn you though- I seriously don't get what sort of measurements 'medium-fine' powder is for anything. It doesn't explain anything to me.'', River looked up at Primrose as she spoke this time, she didn’t need to take any more notes on this potion anyway. A very, neutral look was on her face. Does she honestly not even understand that? We’ve had potions for some time now, I would assume something must have made itself clear? River thought to herself, but said «You’ll get the hang of it I’m sure», and pushed on a slight smile.
«If there is anything you don’t understand, I could probably help you out», she added, and looked up to the professor at the front of the class. Wait!? I hope she doesn’t think I’m some kind of person who just helps people out for no reason.. «Uhm, only as a thanks, because I get to share your book...», she said, sounding quite a bit more defensive than she planned. Usually, River was not one to help others simply out of ‘good intentions’, but only if there was something goood in it for her. And this time was no different... or was it?
