Whimsy and Unicorns Finished

1 April, pre-Blossomfest.
Afternoon.
Third Floor Corridors.

Whimsy.

Fanciful, odd. It was a word that described Mari quite accurately today. She had attended classes with an airy sense of satisfaction; for what reason, it would not be obviously apparent to others. It seemed, perhaps, that a new personality had overtaken the Hufflepuff, who normally shuffled around silently, embarrassed at the even slightest glance from another student. Reddened cheeks were normally quite regular on the small girl's face. Today, they were still quite flushed, but for another reason: joy. The weather outside had been quite rainy, and though that would normally force Mari into a state of somberness, for she could not seek solitude outside, today was different. Today, she was one day closer to being a real pet owner. If she had realized how much this would lift her spirits, she would have asked for one sooner.

She had heard the rumors for quite some time. The ban on pets would be lifted; soon, cats would be lurking once more, toads would be croaking their songs throughout the night, and rats - gross, in Mari's opinion - would be scurrying, hunting for food scraps. The rumors had intrigued her, but she had no reason to know if they were true or not, for she was that isolated first year that you just couldn't help but feel sorry for, with her lack of friends. Lately she had been trying to change her solitude; on a whim, she had applied for the newspaper staff, hoping that maybe that would get her name out there. And she had been accepted for a trial run. Not only that, but her team had been tasked with the topic of pets. It was all such perfect timing: the newspaper, the owl she had just received, the upcoming Blossomball. Mari was running on a high, and she could not foresee it coming down anytime soon.

When the final bell of the day had rung, Mari had run out of the classroom. She had been bouncing all day in excitement. There was still a bit of time before she truly had to get ready, so she was left to her own devices as to what to spend her hours on. All day, she had peeked into her bag to find the letter and her present, wondering if they were still there. The letter was, of course, for it was not Leprechaun gold, just simply quill to parchment. As for the present, it was too. It would have been hard to pretend otherwise, in fact, as it was quite large. The pink ball of stuffed glory had overtaken her bag, leaving her no room for much else. Mari wouldn't have had it any other way.

The letter was, unsurprisingly, from her family. This one was specifically from Ewan, her father, and Grace, her youngest sister. Lately, Mari and Ewan had been in near-weekly contact, even if it was only a line or two updating the other on their lives. Ewan seemed happy, though he always mentioned how much he missed his eldest daughter. Luce-goose and Gracey have nothing on my sweet Mari, he had written this time. He had even admitted in a prior letter that he was reading A History of Magic, which, just six months ago, would have been unheard of from Mari's father. The Accounting firm was having quite a bit of success, he'd noted, but he was thinking about how much more efficient magic would have been when dealing with boring Muggle issues like taxes. So he had asked Isa for a recommendation, and she had suggested he start with the most basic book to learn.

Which led to the letter Mari had received on the morning of the first of April. It was much longer, though Mari knew that Ewan was in the brunt of Accounting season, as his firm often outsourced their business to the United States. When the owl had come that morning, she had been shocked to see that it possessed a large package and was filled with anecdotes and thoughts about A History of Magic straight from the cynic himself. And at the bottom, he had written: Upon reading this chapter, my dearest, I have reason to believe that you deserve a pet after all your hard work this year. It is truly a difficult task to be the eldest, especially given what our family has been through, and it is especially taxing for a child to move to a strange place with very little background and understanding of the school's culture. I know your mother has told you she wishes you would try just a bit harder and get those top marks that she had when she was at school, but I understand. You are doing amazing, my dearest, and I am so proud of you. So I'd like to inquire: would you like to take a trip, just our family, to see if we could get you a pet next year? I know you'll have your sister in your second year, but I feel as though you deserve a companion just for yourself, to celebrate you.

She had only needed to write two words: Of course.

Those who knew Mari, though there were few, knew that there were a few passionate loves in her life: her family, the outdoors, and creatures. Ewan had checked off two of those boxes when he had asked her to buy a pet. As for the third, Mari fantasized about being a second year, with that owl she had always dreamed of, flying above her while she playfully tossed owl treats for it to catch. She may not have paid much attention in class that day, but she had reached a level of joy that had not struck her since leaving her family back in Holt. That joy was only intensified by the second portion of her owl: the gift.

She had confided to a couple students that, while she loved both her sisters, she was slightly more partial to her youngest sister, Grace. Grace was a mere six years old and still knew how to love unconditionally. She loved unicorns, sunshine, rainbows, Mari, and the rest of her family - in that order. When Mari had returned over the Winter Holidays, she was dismayed to see that Grace had seemed to be over Mari in the sense that, when posed with the option of playing with her eldest sister or school friends, she chose the school friends. Though Mari had known that it was far more appropriate for Grace to play with her peers rather than her eleven-year-old sister, she had been quite heartbroken at this fact. It was during the spring term that she prioritized writing to her sister, hoping that she could do better at maintaining their relationship. It was selfish, of course. She merely wanted her friend back for the summer holidays.

Mari wasn't certain that she had succeeded until today. Today, Grace (as Ewan elaborated) had chosen to gift her most recent unicorn stuffed animal to Mari, to "show how much she loves you." While to the average eye, it was quite horrifying; to Mari it was the most beautiful creature she had ever set her eyes on. The unicorn was fantastic, weird buck teeth and all. Mainly, of course, as it was a sign of pure love from sister to sister.

Still running quite fast, Mari settled on embracing such a joyous feeling in the third floor corridors. It was quite a random place, of course, but due to its emptiness, she was partial to the thought of spending her time here. The Hufflepuff Common Room and her dormitory would only be busy as well, and due to the horrible weather, it was impossible to go outside. The third floor didn't have anything too remarkable, so it seemed quite unlikely that students would gather here.

Mari threw her school bag to a corner after she gently lifted the unicorn from its home. She cradled it and smiled. Now that she did not have the distraction of education, she could finally gift the unicorn with what it truly deserved: a name. "I think Chester suits you," she chuckled loudly. "We'll be good friends though, don't worry."

She bounced up and down though, energy still not satisfied despite deeming her friend worthy of his name. Mari stared quizzically at her friend. There was something still missing... He had a name, he looked quite cute (as always), but something was not quite complete.

It hit her. This was a gift from Grace, after all. Her six-year-old sister. And though Chester was not Grace entirely - or at all - if this unicorn was a symbol of Grace, Mari would need to embody the spirit that was Grace when interacting with him. What better way to do that? Walking handstands.

She giggled again and said happily, "Oh Chester, I know you're like Grace, but I think you'll just have to watch this. You don't quite have the hands or balance for it." Still cradling the unicorn like it was actually alive, she set him carefully on top of her bag.

And then she began. Up and down the corridors, Mari attempted handstand after handstand while she walked a few steps with her hands before falling once more. She was thankful to have slacks under her robes to save any embarrassment. At some points, she could attempt a few feet; others a mere "step" or two. A lot of this walking had come from a few years of practice with Grace, of course, and remembering the bonding moments between the girls made Mari's heart warm with happiness. Every few minutes she checked with Chester the stuffed unicorn to ensure that he kept his goofy little grin, though as it was stitched on, his smile remained the same. The whimsy continued for what felt like hours, but at some point, Mari ended up collapsing on the floor, giggling uncontrollably, smiling at Chester the unicorn, her new friend; a friend that would prepare her for her future new friend of a pet.

If this whimsy was such a form of bliss, she'd have quite a bit of it. Contentedness was quite unusual for Mari at Hogwarts, but something about the day had snapped her out of her normal misery, and she felt that nothing could stop her now.

I am quite useless at uploading images, but here is the beauty that is Mari's new unicorn stuffed animal.

April 1st was a special date for Andrew. Not only did it mean April Fools, but today marked the anniversary when he had gotten his Hogwarts letter. The day he found out he was a wizard. The day he found out that magic really existed. Thinking back over the past several months at Hogwarts, he never thought he would’ve made it this far. So much had happened within one year. . .

On his way back from Charms class, Andrew was taking his usual route through the third floor corridors, when he heard an echo of a giggle, coming from a corridor off to the side, a little ways ahead of him. Peering around the corner, he spotted a figure of what he clearly recognized to be a student, dressed in the usual black robes, looking to be one of the younger years or first year as him. Judging from the giggle, he could tell it sounded like a girl. She was a few meters away from him, lying down on the floor and giggling next to what looked like a large, pink, fluffy stuffed animal that sat on top of a bag. The girl’s school bag, he assumed.

He wondered what could be so funny that would cause the girl to be lying on the floor, giggling so uncontrollably. Slightly concerned, yet also amused, Andrew entered the corridor and walked quietly over towards her. As he neared, Andrew could distinguish that the fluffy pink thing was a weirdly-designed unicorn with buck teeth, looking more like a goofy llama than a majestic horse. In her giggling state, the girl [Mari Haynes] wouldn’t notice his silent approach, until he appeared right next to her, before announcing himself.

Hi!” Andrew stood over the girl, peering down at her with chipper smile on his face. “Are you okay?” He chuckled lightly, more or less curious what she was up to.

Andrew’s face wasn’t the only face staring down at the girl. Perched on top of Andrew’s left shoulder was a silvery-gray furred rat with pale pink skin and beady black eyes, gazing down quietly at the girl with a mix of mischief and amusement. Unlike a nasty, dirty sewer rat of infamous reputation, this particular rat was clean and well-groomed with a soft glossy coat and bright lively eyes. The rat nestled close to Andrew’s neck, extending its pink nose to sniff out the situation, but otherwise made no movement or advance towards the girl.

Warren is obviously still welcome, just wanted to move this along. :)

Still giggling, Mari closed her eyes to capture a mental image of her day. She couldn't imagine a life more wondrous than the one that she had been clueless to just a year previously. Joy Marianna Haynes was a witch, she went to a magical school called Hogwarts, she had a precious stuffed unicorn doll from her youngest sister, and to make everything better, she was going to get a pet! She laughed as she thought once more of the owl swooping above her. The only way life could get better is next year, when she had that new best friend.

As it often happened, Mari was so deep in thought that she did not hear the footsteps come up to her. When she opened her eyes as he spoke, Mari noted the chipper face and the captivating grey-blue eyes. It took a moment's pause to digest his words and decide on what to say back before she noticed that there was another, smaller companion with the new boy. Mari shrieked, instead.

Rats were gross, no matter how well-kept they seemed, and there was no way around that fact. Mari had seen them a few times before, of course, but they always resided in dark, dank streets, eating trash and other sorts of filth. She had never really bothered with trying to learn more about them, just accepted them for what they were - disgusting. However, when Mari had entered the wizarding world and peeked into that pet shop just as any curious child would, she had been quite aghast to note that along with the cool creatures, such as cats and owls, those creepy creatures had infiltrated their way into yet another place they did not belong. Why would wizards even want a rat in the first place? Why did this boy choose to have one, when there were things like owls and cats or the cute pygmy puffs he could have had instead? He must be mad.

Mari raised herself to a seated position and scooted backwards at the sight of the rat, even though the boy seemed quite friendly. She couldn't help it; she was a bit frightened. Though her actions would be words enough, she chose to not say anything about the rat for fear of rudeness, focusing only on the boy in front of her: "I was doing some walking on my hands you see...Grace gave me a present and Dad told me that I could get a pet this summer, so I got a bit excited. And the Blossom Ball's tonight, did you know? I'm so very excited." She nodded with her head towards the stuffed unicorn, still resting atop her schoolbag.

She inched a few paces farther, trying to distance herself from the critter as much as possible. Mari had to fight every inclination to not run away, screaming all the while at the rodent. In a mysterious thought, she had the owl reverie once more - only this time, instead of owl treats, Mari was feeding her owl rats so the world could be rid of the hideous creature.

Andrew’s eyes widened slightly at the girl’s reaction, puzzled yet startled by her shriek. He could only assume that his presence might have caught her off guard by surprise. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.” It didn’t occur to him that his pet rat Penelope was actually the source of fright for the girl. Andrew was so accustomed to Penelope’s still, silent presence; half of the time, he forgot that the rat was even perched on his shoulder.

Yeah, I heard.” Andrew’s eyes lit up with excitement at the mention of the Blossom Ball. “I heard there’ll be food, which is kind of the main reason why I’m going.” He gave a nervous little side-chuckle as if to express his embarrassment. “I’m not a good dancer though. Not a dancer at all, actually. But I really wanna see what the Festival’s all about. Maybe we’ll see each other there,” he said with a hopeful note towards the girl.

Processing the earlier information the girl stated, Andrew rewound back to it. “Who’s Grace? …If you don’t mind me asking. Oh, I’m Andrew, by the way. Yours?” He held out his hand to the girl, thinking it was proper chivalry to help a lady up to her feet if she was on the ground. Unless if the girl wanted to remain on the ground, then his gesture could pass for a handshake.

I am SO SORRY this took forever. RL got a little chaotic.

When the boy apologized for scaring her, Mari looked confused but did not elaborate. Perhaps he thought that he and his rat were the same person, and that is why he referred to them as "I"? Mari had met many a crazy person at Hogwarts, so she could not put this hypothesis behind; it was definitely a possibility.

Luckily, she did not need to mull on this topic for long, as the boy seemed eager to talk about Blossom Ball. Mari had not yet been to any major event at Hogwarts and figured that nothing could go wrong with a simple dance, so, why should she not go? It was a great chance for unity and more friends. Though if that boy brought his rat...she might rethink the decision. She giggled when he said he was going for the food and again when he said he wasn't a great dancer, but waited to respond fully. "I'm not either. I actually went to a dancing lesson earlier and there were so many good dancers and I just wasn't one of them. But if there's food, I imagine I'll stay near that. Or maybe see what else is going on? I haven't really been near the campgrounds, have you?"

She was talking too much again, that was clear. It was typical of Mari, when she was nervous - and that rate made her nervous - to continue speaking as though the other person's thoughts did not matter. She didn't seem to have scared her too much, though, as he extended a hand while he asked another question to help her up. Mari accepted the assistance, but meekly, as that rat was still too close for her liking. If she was a less shy and awkward person, she likely would have refused on the grounds of that rat. "Thank you," she murmured, as she stood up; Mari then answered, "Grace is my youngest sister - my best friend. She's six, so it's a little odd but...I do love her lots. Do you have siblings? And...er...who is your friend over there?"

She might as well address the elephant of a rat that was in the room. Mari would not let the question sit long, however, as she didn't want to think about the gross pet that Andrew had for too long. "I'm Mari. Mari Haynes," she muttered quickly, while a small blush of embarrassment from fearing a rat so much creeped upon her face.

At the mention of the campgrounds, Andrew replied, “No, not really. I haven’t had much time to wander over there. Busy with school and all that.” Here here.

When she asked if he had any siblings, Andrew answered, “I have an older sister Stacy, she’s 14, and a little brother Kyle, he’s 9.” He didn’t think she was weird for considering her sibling to be her best friend. Andrew understood the feeling completely. He, Stacy and Kyle were all bosom buddies, prior to him leaving for Hogwarts. The three of them were still very close. While he had been homesick for the first few months, he chose not to dwell on the negatives and sorrow of being apart from his family. He would make the best of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. His parents and siblings were all supportive of him, and there was always the next spring, summer, or winter holiday to look forward to seeing them again, so what was there to be sad about?

Hm?—Oh!” Andrew turned his head slightly to get a look at the gray rat on his shoulder. “This is Penelope. I call her Pin-pin though. She’s my pet, I got her for Christmas! Just last Christmas.” Excitement built up in his voice, talking about his pet. “She’s really nice, wanna pet her? She won’t bite.

If the girl accepted, Andrew would hold out his arm to her and coax Penelope forward. The rat would inch forward onto Andrew’s arm to accept any petting, or even scurry onto the girl’s arm, if she was willing to hold Penelope.

Mari.” Andrew processed the name, once the girl introduced herself. “Nice to meet you.

And you’re gonna get a pet too? That’s awesome! Is it a cat? Because, nearly everyone wants cats. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but, you know, where’s the variety?” He meant it lightly of course, not that it bugged him that most students desired cats or owls. If anything, Andrew liked being “special”, having a unique pet among the rest of the herd.

Actually, I was interested in getting a cat,” he went on. “But then I met Pin-pin and, well… She just sort of… Stole my heart, I guess?” He said it sheepishly. “I didn’t know rats could even be kept as pets. I thought they were all wild and, well… rabies and all that. But nope! Not Pin-pin at least. She’s kinda like a teeny tiny dog. She’ll come to you, if you call her. Plus, she’s real handy if you lose something. She’s brought back all sorts of things around the castle. She’s like a lost-and-found retriever!

But yeah, I have two cats at home. Duchess and Princess. And three goldfish. Those’re the only pets I’ve ever had, so I didn’t know anything about taking care of rats, when I first got Pin-pin.
Whimsy and Unicorns Finished
She nodded understandably when the boy mentioned that his studies had taken him from exploring the castle. Mari wished she could say the same but she didn't particularly care for learning, and given that she had very few people that she considered friends, had spent most of her "friend time" wandering the castle and its grounds. The boy, on the other hand, seemed friendly enough - even if he was a Slytherin, so Mari was certain that he would spend much of his free time with his own friends.

She lit up when he mentioned his siblings; even though they weren't the same age, she could sense that he cared about them. "Is Stacy at Hogwarts?" she asked a tad too enthusiastically. "I'm so excited for when Lucy comes to school next year; I do hope she'll be a Hufflepuff, but Mum was a Ravenclaw herself...it'll just make the castle feel a little bit more like home, you know?"

Any excitement that she had had immediately dissipated at the thought of touching the rat. Mari jumped back as she eyed the rat, letting out a little yelp when it scurried. Nope. She did not want to touch that. She didn't want to be rude either, so she just looked at it as she shook her head a little too fast. The hideous creature would not stop taunting her as he continued to talk about their meeting, which honestly sounded like a romance with how passionately he talked about it - though, Mari decided, more likely a romantic comedy. It was a rat, for crying out loud!

Her eyes were still warily fixed on the rat when she responded; every so often she would look at the boy, but it was clear that her main focus was ensuring that the rat did not hurt her. "I actually wanted an owl," she began warily. "They're so useful, and I've been wanting one ever since I saw one in the window of a shop in Diagon Alley last year. Mum and Dad told me that I could have a pet then, though. I'm sure they'll let me get whatever I want, cause I'm the oldest...and it would be nice if Lucy and I could write letters with our own owl instead of a school one. Feels a little less likely to get intercepted, I think."

She contemplated his words about the other animals they'd had, then added softly, "We didn't have any animals growing up. Was that fun?"

"No," he said, a bit dejectedly. "I wish she was, though. I’m the only wizard in my family. The rest of 'em are all muggles." There was a tinge of embarrassment and nervousness as he admitted to himself being a Muggle-born. Not that he was ashamed of it, but he didn't like boasting about it, considering that blood type was usually a sensitive subject to talk about. Especially in Slytherin...

While he was happy for Mari's good fortune, he could feel a ping of envy that Mari had magical siblings that would soon be joining her at Hogwarts. Coupled with sadness that he wouldn't be able share the same wizarding world experience with his own family, as much as he longed to. In many ways, Stacy and Kyle had been more accepting of magic when the news had been dropped on them. His siblings seemed more eager about him going to Hogwarts than he had been. Andrew couldn't help but wonder... Why him? Why couldn't Stacy or Kyle have been the magical one? Stacy was artistic and creative, but bold and competitive; she would've made a worthy Gryffindor. And Kyle was so smart, no doubt he would've been put in Ravenclaw. Part of him felt guilty about himself being inferior to his siblings, undeserving of this magical gift. Stacy and Kyle would probably make better wizards than him. . .

Without his family around, perhaps that was the reason why he loved Penelope so much. She was the closest thing he had to a family member at Hogwarts. "That'll be cool to see your sister, if we ever meet." He turned his attention back to Mari's comment about Lucy.

Andrew chuckled a bit when Mari backed away, apparently too squeamish to touch the rat. It was expected. She wasn't the only one who had reacted the same way. Plenty of others tended to steer clear of Andrew and cast weirded-out stares at him whenever he had Penelope around. Even in Slytherin, some were irked and terrified to know that a rat was lurking somewhere in the vicinity of their Common Room. Heh, even a few older Slytherin boys had let out high-pitched girlish screams in surprise whenever Penelope startled them. Andrew wasn’t offended (in fact, most of the others' reactions were amusing to him), but he hoped Mari might change her mind eventually. As long as one kept an open mind, you never knew what might be surprising...

It seemed like Mari wanted an owl for practical reasons. Andrew could understand her line of thinking. For him though, owls did seem a little intimidating. There were some smaller owls he thought were quite cute and adorable, but most of the larger owls seemed too, well, big for him to handle. But to each his own, he supposed. Andrew didn't really have a preference concerning the "usefulness" of pets. He just wanted a friend, a companion animal for emotional support, and Penelope filled that void for him.

"Cool. You could send secret messages and all that secret spy stuff..! Which kind of owl are you interested in? If I could choose any one... I'd probably go for a Screech Owl. I know they're pretty small and maybe not very useful for delivering big packages, but... eh, I don't really care if an animal's 'useful' or not, as long as we're a good match. Personality, that's what attracts me. And... also the 'unwanted' ones." Most people looked for pedigrees or beauty or "usefulness" of an animal. Andrew's heart was drawn to the misfits, those that were otherwise deemed "rejects". As a Muggle-born, it resonated with him. And with the rat that not many people seemed to like. The pair were more alike than he realized. But he doubted they would be a pair for very long... "Pin-pin's three years old." His smile deflated. "A bit up there for a rat. She pretty much lived her whole life in a pet shop. I don't know how much longer she'll be around, but..." His voice wavered uncertainly, saddened at the thought of losing his beloved pet so soon. The average rat in captivity only lived three to four years max. Maybe more, if magic kept Penelope going... Still, it was highly unlikely she'd live to see another year. The only thing that comforted Andrew was the assurance that he done his part to give Penelope the freedom and affection she deserved, to make her last days enjoyable. "It'd be sad if she never had a home."

His gloomy thoughts fleeted when Mari brought up mention of the pets he had at home. Oh, don’t even get him started... If Andrew could talk so much about the rat he had for only a few months, he could give several novels' worth, rambling on about the cats he had owned for three years and the goldfish he had for seven years. . .

"Pets are fun. I suppose there are 'funner' pets to have around though. I always wanted to have a dog, but my parents think it's too much of a hassle to deal with one. At least cats are self-maintaining. Our cats are half-indoors, half-outdoors. They can climb the fence whenever they want. They can walk themselves, clean themselves... But they're really sociable and like to play a lot. Well, Princess may be a bit shy around strangers and hides under the bed whenever new people are around, but Duchess is the real sociable one though; she'll come up to anyone and rub up against them. But you can't exactly take them out for walks," he said disappointingly. "It'd be cool to have a dog to walk around with. But Pin-pin kinda does the same thing for me. Only she's way smaller. And easier to carry."

Finding a pause in the conversation, Andrew decided it was time for him to go on his way. Save Mari the torture of listening to him sob and babble on about his pets. . .

"Well, I’m gonna go find some lunch. Gotta study for my next class." Subtly, Andrew's tone and sidestepping action indicated that he intended to head off alone. He would have extended the invitation for Mari to come along with him for lunch, but that would likely mean carrying on the conversation whilst they ate, and he would rather not be talking at all during his brief period of review at the table. If only he didn't have a class right afterwards, he would've gladly welcomed her company. "Nice meeting you Mari. See you tomorrow maybe," Andrew called out cheerfully over his shoulder, hinting at the Blossom Ball where they might likely run into each other.

With that, Andrew (and Penelope, perching on his shoulder for the ride) made his way out of the corridor and continued on his route towards the Great Hall.

Mari took in all the words that Andrew said, a bit overwhelmed in how much he talked. She was quiet, even in her excitement, and though she enjoyed being goofy by herself or with her sisters, she struggled to reveal her true personality to a stranger.

So she only answered questions as they seemed fit, the first being what type of owl. To be quite honest, Mari hadn't thought that carefully about which owl she would want, thinking that her decision would be a matter of connection more than type. She had a stuffed snowy owl back at home, so snowy had always been the type in the back of her mind, but maybe a screech wouldn't be so bad. "Yeah...maybe a screech," she echoed quietly, still eyeing the rat on Andrew's shoulder warily. "Personality is more what I'm going for, as well, after I narrowed it down to owl. Owls are just ruddy useful things."

Andrew seemed to have a lot of pets, and if the amount of words he said hadn't overwhelmed her, the sheer amount of animals he had mentioned would have. The Haynes family had never had pets; barks and meows' absences were instead filled by little girls' shrieks as the children played. Isa and Ewan had always said they had their hands full with their three girls. The daughters, though they had wanted pets, had been satisfied with the company of each other.

Mari stared at Andrew awkwardly, accepting the silence, when he decided to go get some lunch instead of waiting for her response. As he turned around, she breathed a deep sigh of relief before responding, "Nice meeting you as well! I hope to see you tomorrow, too."

Her stomach grumbled, but as she watched the little rodent head bob away, Mari suddenly felt a loss of appetite. Instead, she decided, she'd just go up to the Common Room instead...a place that was safe from gross creatures, save a few smelly teenagers. She gathered her belongings and turned away from the corridor, wondering if she would actually see Andrew at the Blossom Ball after all.
Mari Haynes has left the thread with a really crappy exit post, sorry.
