Duplicate Killers horror contains violence
Chapter 1

The midnight air rustled Hash’s bones as the clock ticked on. The chime of the witching hour would come and go. As the minutes ticked on, a distorted noise took her attention. Turning around, she expected to find someone venomous… Alas, no. She turned face to face with a girl about the same age as her, however she could notice something peculiar snout her. Moments passed and neither moved a muscle. Just as Hash was about to speak out, a voice wavered out to her.

“Kill me…“

Stunned as ever, Hash gazed at the girl, expressionless. Then, as she was just about to slap herself and tell her that it was all just a dream, the voice came again, sounding even more dreadful than it was before. She decided that she would then have no choice but to accept that it was true. It was also much louder than it used to be… and it seemed so unlikely that the voice belonged to the girl… And she could tell that someone…someone else had stabbed her by the way the girl acted, ready to collapse…

“Oh Lis… CHOKE ME TO DEATH”

The second voice sounded much like thunder to Hash. Sitting down on bed with her pyjamas and hearing the two voices were far too overwhelming to hear. Hash felt as though she was going to collapse too…

She laid down on bed and shot her eyes as much as she could. Desperately hoping that it would all be over, she soon found out that it wasn’t. The sound of chokeballs were rattling through the icy air. Only one thing was in Hash’s mind that day - why did they choose that place to meet? However, there was no time to worry about it then, as the other voice, full of mercy, came back.

“Hash, do it again”

Hash couldn’t believe it. It was her name that was mentioned, however the girl didn’t seem to be tapping to her, well, not at all. Thinking that something extraordinary might be going on, the girl leaned closer to the door. Wishing dearly that she could go back to sleep soon, Hash dared herself to take a sneak peek at the food. Holding her breath, she walked outside her room. However, not a single soul was in sight.

However immediate it seemed, the two voices suddenly disappeared. All was still.

The tense silence issued through the whole universe. The two voices which she just heard seemed too far-fetched to believe. “Go back to sleep,” she told herself firmly, although she could not bring herself to do it. Therefore she stood there motionless, ready for the slightest sound to notify her that something out of the original was happening.

But it never came. For what seemed like an hour she stood there, replaying the past voices that she had seen. “Hash… hash? Isn’t that my name? Or… or rather…”

And who the hell was Lis? Up to that moment, she still didn’t get why she would’ve heard those voices. It had confirmed that the whole thing was true later on, and she wasn’t going to give up on that. As she looked around, desperate to get back on her cosy bed, her curiosity made her stay put.

“Should I go out and investigate?”

She was indeed itching to solve the gigantic mystery that laid in front of her. Even though her parents told her many times that nobody should move a muscle during the ‘witching hour’, as they liked to call it, she was still going to do it. You’re not the biggest rule follower in the world you know. Just try this out, I guarantee -

Sure enough, she did feel that she was talking to herself too much, and so she shut herself down and braced herself for what was coming. Just like what happened earlier, she knew that this was going to be unpredictable, too. As she crept down the open staircases one by one, followed by a loud creak every time she stepped on a crooked stair, and her shuddering at the thought that it would attract people, she paused for a moment. It was quiet. Slowly, she emerged through the front landing.

Yes, she had expected to see two people, so that want as much of a surprise as it would’ve been. But what she didn’t expect was someone who looked identically like her, followed by someone else who she couldn’t see nor recognise at the swirling mist that towered in the dark sky. Helplessly gaping, she looked around, hoping for a sigh that this was a dream… that what in front of her would be disowning and she would be safe in bed… but it never came.

“A duplicate of myself,” she murmured.

A nod from the gate side of the room told her the truth.
