A small giggle came from the redhead as she watched Reid's excitement. Her's was growing all the same - she just seemed to be able to appear a little calmer. Reid was magical too. This was amazing! The best part of Sabrina's day - week.. summer! She couldn't have been happier about something like she was right then. "Really!" She confirmed, her cheeks starting to hurt from her wide grin. She was excited now, that she could finally share everything about her with her friend, and not hide anything anymore. Surely, Hogwarts wouldn't invite a muggle to attend the school. So it must have been true! Especially since no one exactly knew of wizarding schools - or wizards.

"Wait, Sabby - how long did you know? How long did you know you could do magic?"

This made Sabrina purse her lips as she thought. Should they even speak of this here. With a look around, she was able to tell that the park didn't have anyone in it except for the two of them. Even still, she peeked through the holes in the platform they sat upon to make sure nobody was underneath them before she spoke. "I've known my whole life. Both my parents are wizards - which makes me a pure-blood I think, but I have no idea what that really means."

She had the same tone as Reid when she spoke - hushed, quiet, as if they spoke any louder than this the whole world would no. The twittering of the birds in the trees nearby didn't do much to mask their whispers, though. The majority of them just screamed whenever they felt like it, which wasn't in any type of melody or anything. It was completely random - and dare she say, annoying. She continued on speaking anyways.

"Are your parents mu- normal?" She asked, quickly catching herself from saying a word she wasn't even sure if Reid would understand. She assumed that they were muggles, if he was only just finding out now. Even half-bloods know their magic potential before they're eleven. Either their parents told them, or they found out on their own. If they weren't muggles - then she wondered why they didn't tell him. She slid herself to sit closer to the boy in front of her, slo that she could speak quieter, "Have you gone shopping yet? Have you got your supply list? What does the letter look like?" She spewed out a few questions, not being able to help doing so. She was curious - and she wanted to have a Hogwarts letter, too. She was almost a little envious, but refrained from being so. It wasn't a great feeling, anyways.

After today, he was surely going to be exhausted from the excitement between the two of them. He was already feeling that wane on him, this is what he got for not sleeping well last night. The letter in his hand was held out for her to take without hesitation, there was nothing much on it. Well, at least he glossed over it and gave it to his mum in the end. It would read:
Dear Mister Kovacs,

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find the enclosed a list of of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on September 1st.

We expect your owl no later than July 31st.
Reid was adamant on staying in Derby, he didn't want to go to Scotland, wherever that was. In fact, he was planning on staying here because he thought Sabrina would be doing the same. But it was a pleasant surprise to hear that they would attend it together. He would miss his friends, but now the more that Sabrina said and the way she spoke made him feel fine with the idea. Anyway, he'd come back to Derby when he could just to say hello to them.

"Me parents are uh ..." Reid's brown brows furrowed, trying to recall what his mother had said. "Me mum is magic, from a family called Bolton. Apparently they were magic folk who work for the uh - Ministry. Me dad is no magic folk, but he knew mum was." He was surprised how well his dad adjusted to it, but he assumed love was just love. That was something he wanted to have, if he wasn't so grossed out by kissing. "Oh, that's jus' the letter, my list is at home. But I saw it and it said stuff like - wands and some other things." But now he was curious about her. Where was her letter? Was she going to go shopping soon. "Where's your Hogwarts letter at?" he hummed, watching her.

"Trouble usually finds me."

The greedy grab for Reid's letter was not an unfamiliar action coming from the rowdy girl. She didn't seem to know any sort of boundaries yet, but she'd learn sooner or later. For now, how she acted had never seemed to be a problem. Her eyes scanned the letter, taking in the neat inscription - much unlike her own - and the signature at the bottom of the page. She blew out a puff of air as she passed the letter back to her best friend. Perhaps her own letter would come today, or soon. It was getting close to the beginning of the year - and boy, was Sabrina nervous. What if she never got a letter from anywhere? Surely, she wasn't a squib, so she must be getting it sometime soon. Perhaps the owl got lost? She sure hoped so.

"Me parents are uh ... Me mum is magic, from a family called Bolton. Apparently they were magic folk who work for the uh - Ministry. Me dad is no magic folk, but he knew mum was."

Sabrina nodded her head, her lips slightly apart as she tried to think, coming across the conclusion that he must be a half-blood, then. She knew what that meant - one muggle parent, one wizard parent. Her mother had a few friends who had half-blood children. "So you never knew about magic, did you?" She inquired, tilting her head slightly.

"Where's your Hogwarts letter at?"

This caused a light blush to push its way forward onto Sabrina's freckled cheeks. She didn't want to admit that she hadn't received one quite yet but was assuming that she was going to Hogwarts, but were there many other choices? She didn't like lying to Reid, and now that she could tell him about her life as a witch, she didn't want to lie about much else anymore. "I haven't quite gotten it yet, but it'll come, I know it." She nodded her head once as though it were to reassure herself - but she wanted to reassure Reid, too, that she'd for sure be going along.

A growl erupting within Sabrina's stomach briefly reminded her that she had yet to eat that day. She had been so excited to meet with Reid that she skipped breakfast altogether, and it was now lunchtime. "Would you like to come over for some lunch? I bet you my mum can make us sandwiches." She offered, bringing herself up into a stand. She headed towards the slide, grabbing the small railing above it as she eased herself back down to sit down at the beginning of the slide. "If so, I'll race you." She grinned widely, easily recovering from her slightly embarrassing moment.

She slid down the slide, and took off in the direction of her house, sure that Reid probably wouldn't give up a chance to eat. He had to collect his bike from her house, anyways. At least this way, she got a head start. Not like she needed it - she tended to be a pretty agile runner without one.

She didn't get her letter yet? Reid hoped that she would soon, he didn't want to go school shopping without her. It would be more fun and since she seemingly knew more than him, he could ask her about it anyway. Plus he'd get to tease her along the way and if he ever got lost, he'd rather be lost with his friend. Her growling stomach caused him to slightly burst into laughter, one that died down at the promise of food from his mother.

Reid cleared his throat, "I'm so hungry, I forgot to -" He didn't hear the last part and sat there agape as he watched Sabrina race down the play place like a horse. "Wait! No fair!" he shouted with a groan. Reid hated losing. He hated losing even more to Sabrina, if there was one archenemies he had, it was his friend. Reid stuff his letter in his back and slipped it on haphazardly.

He jumped off the play area, nearly hurting himself just from the fall and ran towards the direction Sabrina had. "Sabrina! That's not fair!" he hollered, in a slight fit of anger. By the time he had gotten to her home, he was out of breath and the boy was ready to keel over. He wasn't a runner, that was for sure. When he reached her yard, he collapsed on the grass, heaving like an overexerted workhorse and laid there. It was a great relief, except he probably just made a kid sized crater in her mom's grass.

"You're so mean. How come you never let me win?" he groaned, letting the cool grass greet him. Reid remembered the last time they raced, he lost. The last time they also raced, he lost. Did he ever win in the first place? Perhaps he needed to accept the fact he was more mass than speed.

Reid rolled onto his back, pieces of grass stuck in his hair and the rest of his body. His glasses and cheeks had some dirt on it, but he didn't seem to mind. "You win. But now you have to pull me up to your mom's kitchen." The boy stuck his arms out into the air, expecting her to somehow drag him into their home. His chest hurt and his status of being hungry now turned to starving, he was going to get those sandwiches if it was the last thing he did. That and he wanted to hang out and say hello to her mum again.

"Trouble usually finds me."

When the girl with long, red hair had reached her driveway, she stopped by the garage door, turning around and leaning her back against it as she caught her breath. Her victorious grin was still plastered on her face. She had won her race, despite it being quite unfair, but it was still a win to add to her books. She easily caught her breath, and straightened her back again. She watched as Reid rounded the corner to her driveway, and a laugh escaped her once he flopped onto the grass in her mother's garden. She didn't mind it, as long as it wasn't in the flowers.

"You're so mean. How come you never let me win?" She heard him groan from his position, with his face planted into the ground. She made her way over and loomed over top of him, looking down at his frame as she nudged his elbow with the toe of her shoe.

"Well, because I love you, that's why," She answered, jokingly of course. She probably could let him win sometimes, and honestly she has thought about doing so, but something in her makes her want to win. So, she does her damn best to do so. These small races were no exception. Perhaps that was why she excelled so well with muggle sports, and enjoyed watching her favourite Quidditch team remain victorious. Did Reid know about Quidditch? If not, he soon would - once Sabrina got started on the topic, she wouldn't shut up.

"You win. But now you have to pull me up to your mom's kitchen."

She giggled a little bit at the fact that it sounded like he was admitting his already confirmed defeat, but she shook her head in response to the demand to drag him into the house. "That, Reid Kovacs, is something that I will never do." She told him, before turning on her heel, causing plenty of grass to uproot or rip in the spot, and headed towards the front door to her house, which was a deep mahogany red. She assumed Reid would follow, the thought of her mother's sandwiches was just too tempting. She twisted the golden doorknob to her front door then, letting herself in.

The first thing she stepped on was a ragged, old and worn-out welcome mat that consisted of pink, green and purple threads. Underneath that was hardwood flooring which was made of birch wood, but that wasn't too noticeable. To the left of the foyer was a staircase which lead to the second floor of the house, and to the right was a door to the living room, which lead into the kitchen. It was definitely a smaller house, but it was very cozy to Sabrina. It was her home.

 "You coming, Reid?"

Reid pouted slightly as she refused to pick him up. "If you loved me you would pull me. What if I was dying?" he huffed. His gaze followed the girl, his arms falling to his side as he watched her leave him. She just left him, cold and alone on the sunny and cool grass. Oh the humanity. Truly he was alone in this world. It was him against everyone else, Sabrina had abandoned him for sandwiches. However the boy would have abandoned himself for food if it came down to that.

He squinted his eyes from the sun, turning his head as he heard the girl call his name. The boy turned himself to his side, feinting a look of hurt on his features. But it seemed that the girl was immune to it anyway, causing him to stop his shenanigans. "Yes, I'm coming dear, please prepare the tea too." he faked a cockney accent, making fun of the girl as a joke. He was comfortable being this goofy only around Sabrina, he joked and teased her when he could.

It was good because he liked to make her laugh every now and then, laughter was always the best remedy. Reid snickered as he walked to her porch, brushing the grass from himself before he got any closer to it. He shook his head like a dog, brushing his hair all the while before continuing up the small steps. His footsteps weren't so heavy, but his old sneakers squeaked at the nice finish.

He stopped at her door and opened it for her, bowing to show her inside her own home. While he was bowed, he asked with a muffled voice, "Can you check my head on the way in? I don't know if I got all of the grass out of it."

"Trouble usually finds me."

"If you loved me you would pull me. What if I was dying?"

"If you were dying, you wouldn't be laying in the grass, nor asking me to drag you places." She answered matter-of-factly while she walked to the door. She then proceeded to wait for him, though she didn't exactly need to. She could have gone in and Reid would have found his way just fine, but she still remained to wait. She wanted to walk in with him, and force him to go straight to the food. Knowing Reid, he had the potential to dilly-daddle. Sabrina was definitely not about that life.

"Yes, I'm coming dear, please prepare the tea too." She could hear him from the garden. Sabrina rolled her eyes, laughing a little bit.

"Hurry up, dingus," She told him, leaning against the wall by the door as she crossed her arms over her chest, watching as he made his way towards her. She tilted her head slightly to angle the sun that reflected off of the corner of his new glasses out of her eyes. He looked good with glasses, now that she thought about it. Not that she was even remotely close to having a crush on anyone, even if they did look great with reading glasses.

She snorted when he opened the door and bowed, letting her in. Her eyes rolled a little bit with out her even trying to, even. "Can you check my head on the way in? I don't know if I got all of the grass out of it." An eyebrow of her's rose at this, but she still picked a few pieces of grass out of the strands of his hair. He must have not brushed it - it looked messy. Did boys even brush their hair? She should really figure that out. It could be like a revelation.

"All good," Sabrina confirmed before walking into the house, taking off her shoes before she walked off of the welcome mat. Her mother didn't like it when they trekked dirt into the house, and apparently any place could have a bunch of dirt. It made sense, though, considering quite a few rooms in the house had carpeting. Who would want to power wash a carpet for fun? Without waiting on Reid to follow her lead, she darted to the kitchen, where the distant sound of dishes being washed in the sink could be heard.

"Mum?" She called out as she walked through to the kitchen. Her mother, Juniper, was standing at the sink, going through the dirty dishes that couldn't fit into their small, almost useless dishwasher. Not that washing dishes was a bother, Sabrina did them too sometimes. She didn't mind. "Can you make Reid and I a sandwich?"

"Uhh," Juniper trailed off as she finished cleaning the last plate in the sink. She turned off the tap before grabbing the dishcloth from on the counter beside her. "I guess so, yes, do you want to wait in the living room?" She asked as she dried off the plate, turning herself to see Sabrina.

With a smile, the redhead nodded. She then turned to go back into the living room, plopping down onto the couch with a sigh, grabbing the remote from beside her to turn on the television.

Reid found some familiarity with the home, it was the same one he's hung out in for years. There were evenings where he'd spend it at Sabrina's, spread on the couch or her bed. Homework was done at her home and sometimes even dinner. Of course he would go home, yet his parents didn't seem to mind. Her place wasn't too far and he was quite comfortable in it at any time, he didn't get a complaint so far. Reid closed the door behind him with a gentle click and then slipped his shoes off before going on.

The backpack he had was placed beside his sneakers and left there. He remembered his routine and placed all of them beside Sabrina's. He was wearing a pair of black socks, thankfully new and it didn't smell rancid. Otherwise he would have saved everyone the trouble and kept his shoes on. His feet padded the floor as he went to the kitchen first to say hello, he didn't want to be rude. "Hi Ms. Hurst, I just wanted to come by." he waved.

Reid didn't bother the woman much and went towards the living room to see what his friend was up to. "TV already? Wow." he laughed. He would have done the same, but she didn't need to know that.. Instead of sitting on the empty spot on the other end, Reid allowed himself to lay across the girl's lap in a rather obnoxious way.

Purposeful and a bit of an oaf, he adjusted himself so he could also see the TV. "What're you watching?" he asked, not even looking at the screen. Reid had closed his eyes, already comfortable and wanting to nap at her house. One of the things he missed was her comfortable couch, a home for his weary soul after a long day of dealing with the boys at the academy.

"Trouble usually finds me."

The girl watched as Reid went through the living room onto the kitchen, but it didn't faze her, really. Her mother loved Reid like a son, and she wouldn't be surprised if Reid felt the same way about her mother. The two ( Sabrina and Reid ) were quite close, they hardly ever breathed in separate rooms. She switched on the television then, a cooking show coming onto the screen. "Boring," The girl muttered to mainly herself, pressing the numbers on the remote to direct her to her favourite channel. It was one of those 'family' channels, with those PG shows that were actually quite interesting.

"TV already? Wow. What're you watching?"

Not paying attention to Reid's actions, the girl was slightly surprised when she watched him lay directly on her lap. Of course, he would do this. Maybe she should have sat on the armchair, alone. But then again, she didn't exactly mind this. She did it to him basically all of the time, so it was only fair she let him. And there you go again, Sabrina. Defending someone else's actions. She shook her head at herself, she could totally be lounging in the armchair. Oh well, he'd have to get up anyways when her mother was done with the sandwiches.

Sabrina looked up at the sound of her friend reentering the room. She grinned cheekily, then looked back to the television, "Looks like.. Ant Farm." She pursed her lips slightly as the main character, Chyna, came on the screen. It was a dead giveaway as to which show it was, really. She was quite a unique person, and so was the set for the show. She had seen the episodes enough times to be able to distinguish the show from the rest.

"You don't mind it, do you?" She asked, just to make sure. With a glance down expectantly for an answer, she noticed that his eyes were closed. "Are you really trying to fall asleep on me?" She questioned, huffing a little bit. What a lazy bum. She shook her head at the boy, then looked up as her mother walked in - with two sandwiches on plates.

"Here you are, Reid, Saby," Juniper placed the plates on the coffee table, then looked at the two with a raised eyebrow. She was used to this behavior, of course, but more along the lines of not used to Reid falling asleep on her daughter. It was odd, because Sabrina was usually the one to be doing the sleeping. She shook her head a little bit, then walked away - probably going upstairs - leaving the two alone once again.

"Okay, now get up and off of me, or I'll eat your sandwich." She threatened, poking his cheek from this position with her pointer finger. He'd ought to get up, because she wasn't lying. She would eat his sandwich without a second thought.

It was true, he was about to fall asleep and just take a long nap on her couch. It wouldn't be the first anyway that he'd just lounge himself atop of her. He started laughing a little as she poked his cheek, breaking character as he opened his green eyes in terror. Not his sandwich! "Fine, fine." Reid picked himself up from the couch and leaned over to pick up the plate. He looked over his shoulder, "Thank you Ms. Hurst!"

Reid didn't realize how hungry he was till the glorious food was between his probably unclean hands. He took a bite and chewed on it, leaning back into the sofa beside Sabrina. Despite there being a large amount of space on the other end, he instinctively preferred to stay beside the red head. "What was this again? Ant Farm?" he asked, looking over.

He wanted to see some of the new episodes of that superhero show, he didn't even know if Sabrina liked it. Reid scooted himself lower and lower to gently prop his feet onto the table. His legs were to short so he had to draw himself closer to the table. "Oh did you know, I practiced riding my bike over the summer. You owe me a race, Hurst." he smugly said, looking up at her.

He couldn't run, but maybe he could beat her on his bike. His spirit of competition never really came out until he got the chance to compete with his friend, she was the only one who could really rile him up. She knew how to get under his skin, even though she didn't really try sometimes. Maybe that was good, or he could just be setting himself up for something ridiculous. "You still have your bike right?" he asked, his brow arching.

"Trouble usually finds me."
