A Race to Remember
That smile still hadn't left her face. 'Why is she so smug?!' Hengist thought. In fact, her smile only widened as she said that. However, he noted a slight twitch of surprise as he asked about tryouts."I know, I know. It's about time honestly."
This whole time she'd been pestering him, he'd just figured that she was the captain of the team. So not only did he lose and have to try out for the team, but the one he lost to wasn't even the team captain?! This stung, and he lashed out a bit, "You mean you aren't the team captain? This whole time I thought you were in charge of the team!" He then collected himself and realized it didn't really matter. He'd made an agreement and lost, so he had every intention of fulfilling his side of the bargain, regardless of who he'd lost to. "Ugh, nevermind. I guess that doesn't really change anything. I'll find out when the tryouts are and I will be there. Don't think this is over, though. I will want a rematch eventually.""Next week, I don't know? There's gotta be a sign hanging up somewhere though."
With that, Hengist put away the broom and walked away from the pitch. This had been a most dreadful day. He wasn't used to this kind of stress and disappointment and didn't quite know what to do. It was still a bit too early to eat, so he couldn't go to the great hall. He decided he try his favorite spot for stress relief; a walk around the lake. So he changed direction and headed off to the lake until it was time to eat.
Hengist leaves the thread.

A Race to Remember
For her response, Emma merely shook her head and shrugged. So what if the race made been solely for fun? Trying out was just another perk that came with the deal and she had no objections. She wanted him to join the team not only because he had talent, but it would be nice to have a familiar face to rely on on the team. She had been bothering him for about two years now. In her first year, she had collected an impenetrable stubborn trait, and least now it had gotten better even if it was hard to tell. All she had to say: "I wish."
Though the thought of someone being team captain in their first year put hope into her brain. Okay, so she was at least old enough to be team captain. Seven days seemed to be seven years in her perspective, it was hard to wait.
The competition wasn't over yet, was there ever going to be an end to it? By the sound of his voice, a mix of severity and determination, it was only the beginning. It would have been a lie to say it didn't put thoughts and scenarios in her mind. No matter, she had persisted an entire two years and she was determined to make it seven if she had to. Eventually could mean anything, but for her, it was anywhere from a week to a year and that wasn't exactly a big gap of time. She had been lucky this time, but next time she could only hope for the same luck."Don't think this is over, though. I will want a rematch eventually."
After watching Hengist leave the Pitch, she walked over to the broom tower and mounted her broom against the wall, stalling a bit to make sure the coast was clear. Until dinner struck, she walked up to the Ravenclaw dormitory and began to read. Quidditch tryouts were going to be fun, she could only imagine.
