Gryffindor Scavenger Hunt Gryffindors

The room was decorated in colours of gold and red, the streamers creating an opulent atmosphere in the cavernous Great hall. It looked replesent, the royal colours shining merrily. But, even in the richness of colours and the joy of such beauty, there was also a homely atmosphere. Small plants sat on the four tables, whose trademark green, red, yellow, and blue coloured table markings had been washed away by clever spell work. Now all that could be seen was an onslaught of gold and red. Small plush lions sat upon all four of the tables, their eyes blinking. An occasional roar slipped out of the animals, who looked strangely realistic. Almost like miniature lions shrunk down and forced to sit on the table. Occasionally they’d stand and walk around the tables, golden tails flicking in the candlelit Great Hall.

The professor’s table and headmaster’s podium were decorated in similar styles, but foliage and floral draped off of the podium and towards the ground, making the room feel a bit more tailored to Sorrel’s tastes. Along with that, the professor’s table had neat vases of flowers decorating where placemats and plates might have once sat.

It was a clear sign of Gryffindor pride, given to the house by their eccentric Head of House. Sorrel had a flair for the dramatics, even if she was as shy as a lamb in the limelight. But, her outfits would not state that fact. She liked to imagine that she lived vicariously through her dresses. Sorrel spoke through her dresses, and tonight was no different than usual. She wore an outfit that reminded the woman of Game of Thrones. The red dress swept against the floor, the sleeves long and covering. The red gown looked straight out of a Fantasy novel, accentuated by the golden patches and golden clip that Sorrel wore in her hair. The woman stood alone in the Great-hall, waiting for her prefects and house to arrive, one small figure in the expertly decorated Great hall.

It was after dinner, the food of the night washed away by the torrent of red and gold. Everywhere a student would look, it was red and gold. But, if they were truly keen of eye, small objects could be spotted. Hidden from view and clearly meant to be found by the brave explorer, the Great hall was full of treasures. Sorrel, herself, had came down from her chambers to aid the House elves in hiding the treasures and decorating the room. Although, it had been more trouble than it was worth, with her new cat.

Cedar was a rambunctious kitten and had ate more of the sweets than she had been able to hide. Even now, the small kitten was pacing the tables with the small lions, meowing up a storm. Brown stains that looked suspiciously like chocolate were affixed to the kitten’s face, as he licked at his face with a regal grace that did not benefit the situation.

Shaking her head, Sorrel prayed that her kitten had not eaten chocolate. She wouldn’t want to see him sick. But, before she could truly remark upon Cedar’s adventures in the Great Hall, the cause of her huge celebratory decor showed themselves. The children of her house finally arrived, just at the time she had told them too.

To that, she promptly beamed. Once the students were gathered, Sorrel clapped her hands together. “Gryffindors! You’re here! I almost thought you wouldn’t show- hmm. I thought you wouldn’t show up, even though I invited you…”She frowned over the logic of that. They, by default, would be almost forced to show up, considering the fact that she was their Head of House. Cheeks flushing, Sorrel cleared her throat. “Welcome to your party! We’re doing a scavenger hunt to start the night off. In this room, there are hidden goodies for the lucky finder to behold. Whatever you find, you may keep! And, after that, we’re going to have a little ball. For Gryffindors only, because every other ball seems to go terribly wrong.” Eyes flashing for a moment, in outrage over the Blossom Balls, Sorrel sighed and collected her thoughts.

“So, go get hunting!” She waved the kids off to get to their scavenger hunt, alone to brood upon the stupid events of the school. At least the kids in her house were having a good time, for once. God knew they deserved it.

Rules:
You can only hunt/search once a round, looking for an object
A prefect or myself shall post after rolling to determine if you’ve found a treasure or not, and then will gift you whatever you found-- if you found anything.
The game will end after four rounds, aka four moderator posts and the party will move along to another location.

Gryffindor Scavenger Hunt Gryffindors
News of a scavenger hunt had went around early this morning but Doris had forgotten all about it until now. It was one of those things that were on the tip of your tongue but you just couldn't recall it, and it frustrated her all day. She was studying in her dorm, focused on her homework; learning charms wasn't as easy as she'd thought but at least she was getting better. She was trying to master a spell, waving her wand around accordingly, when she overheard two girls mention the forgotten topic nearby.

Her head shot up and her ears trained on the conversation. "They said there will be a bunch of prizes, or something, I'm only going to get something...hey, are you coming?"

It took her a moment before Doris realized that they were talking to her. Blushing, she replied, "Oh, yeah, definitely, but—where is it, exactly?"

The girls giggled to each other, then looked back at her. "It starts in the Great Hall," said the second girl. "But it's for Gryffindors only, so don't bring anyone else."

"I won't, I guess. Do you know what sort of prizes—"

"No. They said that's what we're searching for. Also, there's going to a ball so wear something pretty."

Doris gave her a smile, though she felt like giving her something entirely different. "Alright, thanks!" The girls walked off in their little dresses, a disgustingly prim sort of one.

Going back to her work, she felt sort of refreshed. At least she had something to look forward when she completed her work. With a last wave of her wand, Doris finished a section of her work with a spark. Grinning, she clapped frantically and threw her notebooks under her bed, hurrying over to her garment chest.

Red and gold were the House colors but were they required to wear them? Were they doing the scavenging in their dresses and suits? Doris stared at the two dresses she had picked out; she did not want to ruin them with the sweat and grime she figured would get on it during the event. One of her dresses was golden while the other was red. Actually, the red one wasn't even a dress: it was a suit.

A memory tried to surface but she wouldn't let it. Doris hurriedly grabbed golden dress but stopped short—she had the urge to be different. Maybe her guts were trying to tell her something.

About thirty-five minutes later Doris was dressed in her red, her hair a cascade of curls down her back, her feet clad in simple black vans—she felt she was already super late—but the pants covered most of her shoes for it not to be too noticeable. She borrowed some nude lipstick from a dormmate and rushed out the doorway.

Flying down the stairs and sprinting towards the Great Hall—she was very grateful to have worn sneakers—Doris stepped into the place where she usually ate her lunch to be bombarded with everything the meant Gryffindor. The cavernous ( ;D ) room was decorated in red and gold, the table lined with animated lions—were they real? She noticed the Head of Gryffindor, who wore a beautiful red dress and gold hair clips. The woman looked gorgeous, as did the other students and staff there. Doris figured that she wasn't incredibly late, but she hoped her timing wouldn't lessen her chances of getting a valuable prize.

She walked around, smiling at the people who stared at her bright red dress. It shouldn't be that noticeable, she blended in with the rest of the colors, right?

Doris moved to ask a passing Prefect a question but changed her mind. She had better luck searching on her own.

Someone tapped her on the shoulder. Turning, she saw her brother and bumped fists with him. "Did you find anything yet?"

Marshall rolled his eyes. "Nope, first-years snatched all of them. Hey, can you do me a favor?" Doris tried decline but he continued anyways. "Get me some prizes...and I might pay you."

She rolled her eyes. "With what, a pinch on the arm? A wet willy?"

She couldn't help but notice the earnest look on his face as he looked somewhere to the left. Her eyes followed his but then he grabbed her arm, jerking her forward. "Don't go and look, idiot." Doris ungripped his hand, shrugging.

"Fine." She didn't care anyways. Brushing past him, she looked around. She couldn't spot anything immediately but she would still look. She decided to look near the professor's table. Heading over, she crouched, wincing at the future of her pants as she gazed underneath.
Doris reaches for something near a chair leg.

Gryffindor Scavenger Hunt Gryffindors
A summons was about the last thing he wanted to hear about.

He was curled in bed, as he was usually after the Ball. Whenever he ventured out, stares followed his form, pointing and whispering about the hideous burns that still coated his arms and the blighting mark on the side of his cheek that was yet to heal. Eventually, he had gotten sick of the other students' morbid curiosity, and so he kept to his own more and more often. It was true, at the start of the year, he wanted friends. But at this point, he was becoming less and less sure whether wizards were worth socializing with in the first place. But then again, Muggles were no different, were they?

The only one he had even spoken to this about was Illowy, who understood the pain of the memories better than most snub-nosed students. It was hard to explain the horrors of a near-death experience to a person who would either laugh it off, give him pity, or be excited by danger. Her honesty was real, and she had been right there while it was happening.

But it was also worrying that he rejected others so. Although he didn't show it, he still wanted to spend time with people. But so far, that had seemed impossible.

It was then that he heard from one of his dorm-mates about some hokey 'Scavenger-Hunt' going on. Normally, he'd be leaping at the chance for another opportunity to gallivant about, but this time, he barely spoke, grey eyes disinterestedly scanning a book about the Great War. Wariness clouded his gaze. Who said that it wasn't just another trap? Snorting, he thought to himself about the place catching in flames all over again, like the two disastrous Blossom Balls that had occurred so far.

Slowly, Isaac peeled himself away from his bed, rubbing his eyes tiredly and putting his book down. For now, he wasn't going to outright defy the Head of House in her message, but if things became too hectic for his taste, he'd steal off again somewhere else.

The Great Hall was decorated with rich shades of scarlet and glimmering banners of gold, complemented with flower vases and the soft glow of candlelight. On each of the tables lay a plush lion, but the small wildcats almost seemed alive. One gave him a look with its beady amber eye, letting out a quiet roar. His mood was still dismal, but it did cheer him slightly, only because the lion was endearing.

Standing like a stuck-up queen was the Head of House, her arms clasped together and hair done in elegant ringlets. A red dress swooped down towards the floor, with the hint of a train. Gold shone from her hairpin and formal patches.

He wasn't impressed himself, but then again, he didn't really care about dresses. Nor did he care about the Head of House. What had this 'Sorrel Wright' ever done for the students anyway? Isaac himself was dressed sloppily, laces still untied, hair a ragged mess, posture slouched and feet dragging. Every inch of him seemed to resist staying in the Hall, but he forced himself forwards to hear her words.
"Welcome to your party! We’re doing a scavenger hunt to start the night off. In this room, there are hidden goodies for the lucky finder to behold. Whatever you find, you may keep! And, after that, we’re going to have a little ball."
He had limited interest in a scavenger hunt. If the prizes were decent, maybe then he'd put in some effort. But another Ball sent sickness into his stomach. He didn't have any Gryffindor allies, and should the Ball go wrong again, it'd be the worst-case.

First things first. Just do the scavenger hunt, and think about the other "Ball" later.

Isaac immediately did a survey of the Hall. Last time he'd been there, he was a starry-eyed first year who was bad at paying attention. But now, his eye was more careful and judging.

If the lions weren't 'alive,' he'd likely rip one open to see if there was something inside. But it was out of the picture.

The professors' desks are too obvious, the benches are too easy to grab stuff from..

He looked up. Most people forgot to look up, instead narrowly following their field of vision. His eyes latched onto a candle-holder in the shape of an eagle peering down. In fact, many of candle-holders lay on the sides of the hall, each in the shape of a different House's animal. Perhaps a daring house-elf had placed a prize in one of them. He had no clue if the creatures had magic or not, but knowing Hogwarts, they probably did.

His arms ached, but his climbing skills were still sharp. He moved through the edges of the frantically searching crowd, heading towards the banners dangling off of the sides of the hall. Tugging a ribbony banner in his fingers, he was satisfied at the tautness. They'd hold his weight well.

Then came the climbing. He dug his long-nailed fingers into the banner, using it like a rope. The sides of the wall were bumpy and rocky like cobblestone, giving him a good enough grip to boost himself up. His palms began to sweat after a while, and the ache grew fiercer and fiercer, but he bit his lip. It was weak to give up at this point.

With a last gasp, he managed to pull himself up high enough to see one of the insane candle-holders. The statue creature swam back and forth, and slight dizziness consumed him. His grip was failing, so he'd have to be fast.

Carefully, he reached out to try to grab something he thought he could see in the eagle's claws. If this wasn't a prize location, then all of his effort would have been useless.

Gryffindor Scavenger Hunt Gryffindors
[quote]An order to come down to the dining hall was the last thing that Marla wanted to hear about. The poor Gryffindor hadn't gotten a wink of sleep in days. She was bombarded with countless quizzes and tests because of the end of the year, and studying for them was, well, stressful, as one might expect. Today she was blessed with no homework, and nothing due the following day... Aaand of course, she was forced to come to the stupid dining hall.

And so, Marla Quinlan made her way down the steps, dressed in some sweatpants, her hair tied up in a sad excuse for a bun. She hopped feebly down to the ground hall, dark circles engulfing her golden eyes in exhaustion. Tests, homework, and others weren't the only reason for her lethargy. She was honestly terrified. The school year was waining quick, and Marla technically didn't have a home. There was summer camp, but Marla wasn't sure if it was for the whole summer. She had run away three months before she got her letter to Hogwarts, and wasn't sure of what to do. And because of it, Marla's worries nearly consumed her thoughts, every second of every day, causing her to stay up at night for hours.

But her dim eyes were now wide as she walked into the great hall. Gryffindor decorations of every kind draped around the ceiling and walls of the room, causing the girl's jaw to almost drop. The reflection of red and gold filled the whole room with a homey, nostalgic ambiance that Marla couldn't shake. A grin formed on her face, noticing her Head of House, Professor Wright.

She hastily explained that the students would be doing a scavenger hunt, which got the small Gryffindor even more excited, like her brain completely forgot that she practically hadn't slept in a week. But she couldn't help it. A scavenger hunt? Marla hadn't done one of those since she was... Well, never. She'd never done one. Marla watched her family participate in an egg hunt on Easter but she wasn't as fortunate, having to sit out because she got detention right before spring break. As soon as Professor Wright told them to get hunting, Marla shot up and immediately turned her head, panicked. She desperately wanted that prize, but where to look? She pondered for a moment before looking up at the headmaster's podium, immediately breaking into a sprint to get there first. It was covered in beautiful ornaments, matching the rest of the room. The girl was absolutely sure that was the prize spot, she looked at the podium, determined, and let out an exasperated sigh when she realized that she was too short to get up. So she had to get creative. Marla climbed onto the dining table closest to her and leaped onto the small stage near the professor's table. She then crept behind the headmaster's podium, grasping for something, anything, crossing fingers that this would be the winning spot of the game.

Open to Interactions | Aurelia will walk to anyone who gets hurt
The second year Gryffindor prefect was asked to do many things that day. She thought she had her day free until her Head of House had approached her requiring some assistance for hosting an event for the students of her beloved house. Like a dutiful prefect, Aurelia agreed. It was a rather last minute thing and Aurelia had spent the hours hiding the gifts. When she thought she was done, Aurelia was then asked to help in setting up the mini ball in the ballroom. After about half an hour, she had returned to the great hall to oversee the students in find ring her well hidden gifts. They would not know she had hid it. Now she watched, her eyebrows furrowing as she did as she saw the students climbing dangerously over things. Perhaps she had hid it too well, if anyone got hurt — in which she hope no one would — she would have answer to the Gryffindor Head of House Sorrel herself, maybe even the Headmaster.

Round 1 Results
@Doris Solman | Roll Result | 11
Doris searched around a chair and buy luck, something soft and furry met with her finger tips. She would be disappointed if she thought it to be a Pygmypuff. What she got was a Red Earmuff.

@Isaac Ambrose | Roll Result | 18
Isaac hanged dangerously on one of the banners, reaching for one of the candle holders. How did Aurelia manage to hide it there in the first place, that’s for you to find out. He would see something small but bright and golden. It was solid and cold at his touch. He would find that it was a Golden Snitch. Tied tightly with a small string of rope so that it might not spread it’s wings. (100 POINTS FOR GRYFFINDOR! Jk nope. Pls get down safely.)

@Marla Quinlan | Roll Result | 19
In her hunt, a determined Marla would start towards the podium. What would be a sheer luck, her hands would contact with smooth wood. Grabbing it, the girl would realise that she was in fact holding the shaft of a broom. Not those ones used to sweep dust off the floor but a Cleansweeper 2! If being born a metamorph was already not enough, the lucky girl had just found a broom in the Scavenger hunt.
Gifts would be given out shortly. This hunt is still open to ALL Gryffindors. I strongly encourage you to participate as there are tons of freebies going to be given away! Ask as many of your Gryffindor friends over, the more the merrier. There is still three more rounds to go. Those in the first round are allowed to continue their search for more gifts. @Marla Quinlan, D18s will be used for you instead for your proceeding searches as you have already gotten one of the bigger prizes. Btw, all rolls are done on discord in case you are wondering. Next Modding will be on Friday.

Meenauh was heading off from the Great Hall after the evening meal, mentally bathing in her own thoughts and thinking over the endless pool of ideas she had previously written down in her mental notebook. She was late for the meal, so the Great Hall was almost empty as most of the students rushed to spend their free time in the most efficient way.

So she stepped out of the Great Hall, watching the remaining food being swept away as it usually did. But only at that moment, Meenauh gave it a thought of where the remaining food was going to. Was it fed to some magical beasts? Was it utilised in some magical way? The house elves did quite a job every day, preparing all those meals and she wondered whether it was human enough to get rid of the food. In the muggle world, there was a place called Starbucks, which they visited a couple of times with her mother to taste a few muggle drinks. And they found out that the food that was left at the end of the day was just... thrown away. That was the policy, they said. That was kind of sad and inhuman, considering how many people in the world didn't even know that this amount of food even existed. Could the wizarding world somehow solve that issue? Was there a way to feed all those hungry people out there, basically dying without food?

Full of those heavy thoughts, she turned in the corridor and was swept by a crowd of fellow Gryffindors, and basically dragged back to the Great Hall, without even being able to think what was going on.

She could bet that only a few seconds passed since she left the Great Hall, but it changed drastically. The gold and scarlet colours were blinding and she felt like she was swallowed by the emblem of Gryffindor. The crowd were chatting heavily with a few annoyed voices stating that they didn't like to be summoned and spent their precious time on some house activities.

But everyone completely changed once the Head of the House appeared and announced the special event to be held with lots of presents to the given away to those participating. That was the moment the crowd turned silent and the eyes lit up with some golden fire of ancient hunters.

Meenauh wasn't quite fond of competitions and she almost decided to leave, but then an inquiring thought came up to her that maybe some special book was hidden somewhere and that fired up her interest.

As the hunt started, Meenauh looked around and was surprised how empty the Great Hall looked. If there were a lot of stuff hidden, there should have been something that preventing students from noticing it easily. Maybe some kind of perception filter ("Heh, finally some profit from watching that muggle science fiction!").

In order to bypass the perception filters, if there were any, you had to really focus on spots, which clearly felt like as if you didn't want to look there. She tried not to waste her time on looking at where other Gryffindors were searching and made her way to the wall with the portraits. She tried to look into their eyes as if silently interrogating them and waiting for someone to crack and give it away. She stopped at the picture of a young-looking wizard, who was chaotically looking everywhere but not at her. It seemed like he was sweating. Meenauh smiled and tried to slightly lift the portrait and reach behind it with her hand.

In any confidential state, Millie would've been utterly amazed at the thought of a scavenger hunt, and a mini ball! All for Gryffindors! However, she was slightly nervous. Yes, she had made plenty of friends in the Gryffindor house, but she also felt slightly nervous. People from her house, that she had known since the beginning of the school year, were going to be there. If Millie did something stupid, then everyone would know about it- and not just the Gryffindors, too. The entire school would know about it. After all, nobody had friends in just their house.

But looking around, she noticed that most girls had been getting ready, and soon to leave. Millie looked down at her unfinished paper, and groaned. It would take a long time to finish her Transfiguration essay, and then doing her Charms essay. And, she hadn't gotten far on either one.

So taking advice from the giggling girls, Millie looked over at her trunk. Her mother had always packed her exactly three dresses. Two of which Millie loved, and one that her mother had never showed her. And, looking at her clothing options, Millie was able to pick out one she enjoyed.

The first dress was a pretty blue shift dress with a white belt around the middle, and had a big black bow on the back. The second was a simple white dress. But the third outfit, Millie had never seen it before. It was a black jumpsuit, except it wasn't a jumpsuit. It had shorts and short-sleeves, and most jumpsuits didn't have that.

After the awe of the outfit, Millie proceeded to follow the girls that were leaving the common room, out into the Great Hall. The smell of food wafted in her nose, though it was absent of any of the delicious food. Damn, she had an issue.

Once the Gryffindors had finished listening to Professor Wrights speech, the Scavenger Hunt started. Millie decided to venture under the Gryffindor table, accidently banging her head on the wooden bench.

[quote]Marla Quinlan felt out of place, to say the least. It seemed that every last soul in the great hall was dressed to the nines, and she was over in the corner in sweatpants looking like the boring grandma at Thanksgiving. Though, she didn't mind. At least she'd be more comfortable while searching for things... And speaking of that, when Marla reached behind the headmaster's podium, it felt strange. She wasn't holding onto the floor or anything, it was a stick! Marla pulled it from behind the podium to see a broom in front of her. But not just any broom. A flying broom. A quidditch broom. The girl was beaming from head to toe, fighting the strong urge to scream and jump up and down. Gryffindor 110% needed to have more scavenger hunts.

Finding the broom, which Marla still had grasped in her hand as tightly as possible, made the young girl even more determined to find items around the room. Nothing could get better than the broom, of course, but that didn't mean she wouldn't find something else that was completely awesome. Marla stood in the middle of the great hall for a while, getting shoved quite a few times, but she was too lost in thought to care. Where should she go next to find the next best thing? Marla pondered for a while, before spotting something in a seating spot on the Slytherin table... She pulled the chair from the Slytherin table from out of its place and looked on and under the cushion, crossing fingers that she would hit the jackpot (or at least as close to it as she could).

All godmodding of @Alan Vanes has been consented to! :)

His friend had not been as keen about going down to the Great Hall as Scott had been, upon receiving the call for them to do so... Scott, of course, couldn't bring himself to understand how this could possibly be! All things that strayed from their usual schedule always intrigued him. They especially did so in times of celebration! And Scott used that argument, that Alan should "have some Gryffindor spirit and drag himself down there anyway", when he said something about not wanting to be around lot of people...

"Whatever it is, it'll be fun! ...Or important!. She's the Head of House, after all, and you wouldn't want to disobey her, now, would you? Come on then, Tiger can wait for you here! ...Am I doing this right?"

He was trying to tie his tie last minute. His new and white tie, even, that his mother had sent him as a replacement for the paisley one that was inarguably hideous and terrible. But except for this upgrade, his clothes were same as they'd been some month prior at the Blossom Fest. The too-short trousers, the vest... He looked just a little less ridiculous now and he hoped this would be appreciated. Even though he knew his harshest fashion-critic wouldn't be present...

"You ready?"

Scott practically dragged Alan all the way down the stairs, and into the Great Hall. And what a great hall. Even though its decorations would stun him every time something festive was in the air, this one stood out. The red and the gold was warm and welcoming, the candles flared and the creatively decorated tables seemed as if housing something live.
“Gryffindors! You’re here! I almost thought you wouldn’t show- hmm. I thought you wouldn’t show up, even though I invited you… Welcome to your party! We’re doing a scavenger hunt to start the night off. In this room, there are hidden goodies for the lucky finder to behold. Whatever you find, you may keep! And, after that, we’re going to have a little ball. For Gryffindors only, because every other ball seems to go terribly wrong. So, go get hunting!”
Scott nudged Alan in the side excitedly, trying to lift the boy's interest. It was true, they had been a little late- and some of the others (a number of which Scott recognised) began to look straight away as if born for this moment.

"How does that sound? A scavenger hunt. That's cool, right? Oh, maybe we should've brought the cats! They're always finding things... Do you want to start looking together, or-"

Scott's eyes darted around the room, still getting distracted by every new detail he discovered in the decorations. Some students appeared to already be getting lucky with their searching. Scott could even see how Marla, a first year Gryffindor, had found herself something extraordinary.

"or... Hey! Good job, Marla! Way to- wait, what was I saying? Right, searching... I've a feeling that girl's onto something." Scott pointed humorously to yet another first-year girl, this one cowering underneath the Gryffindor table. "I mean, it's where I would hide things. Then again, I'm not very creative. I want to check under the Slytherin table! I'm hardly allowed over there, usually."

Scott laughed and let go of his friend, as he circled the tables to reach the one at the other, far end. Alan could follow, Scott thought, should he like. Besides, there might have to be someone sane around when Scott gets close enough to the Slytherin Table to realise that those live things were small lions.
