This encounter was sealed the moment Raizel found that broom lying around. She doesn’t know why she had decided to take it, knowing full well it belonged to someone and never telling them. Not like she had made it her own, for she still returned it after every use but never in her life had she met the rightful owner of this Firebolt. Strange, for she had used it a couple of times, namely, for unofficial races and just yesterday, an unofficial Quidditch hosted by one of her seniors.

Deep inside, Raizel wanted to meet the owner of this broom, perhaps a way to finally apologize by borrowing it without permission and maybe, express her gratitude for it. She doubts she’ll get another chance to touch this Firebolt if she does happen to meet its owner and that’s exactly the reason why she is here on the Quidditch Training Pitch, polishing the Firebolt with her new found knowledge of how to take care of your broom.

She doesn’t know when will be the last time she will be able to use this broom but while she could still hold it in her hands, might as well give it a nice polishing and grooming. Who knew that she would eventually find herself loving a broom, something that she swore to not be touching outside of flying class. It was what made it possible for her to race in that unofficial Broom Racing and participate in that unofficial Quidditch match, giving her a chance to try those sports even though things didn't go exactly well for her in the end. She had already accepted that the problem lies with her. Still, she was thankful for the experience and being able to participate in those sports had somehow helped in taking her mind off of duelling. What better ways to repay it than giving it a nice cleaning.

It was a nice change of pace really, doing something other than duelling. As much as she loved the sports, she can’t seem to find the same feeling she had when she first started as a duellist with all the constant misfortunes and feeling like she’s going nowhere. It had left her feeling sour, frustrated ever since that first stage and adding more to it are other misfortunes like the one that happened concerning her Astronomy Class, something that she will forever hold a grudge to.

Raizel sighed as she let those thoughts go, continuing on with her polishing. It was calming surprisingly enough, another thing that she could be thankful for. This broom sure is helping her a lot during her dark times, distraction wise.

@Raizel Voltrouz

The most exciting part, when it came to getting a new broom (aside from customizing it as one saw fit), was getting the chance to break it in. There was nothing quite like being the first to take it into the sky, and getting a feel of how the untempered wood cut through the air. Quixote had been Xailah's most recent (but certainly not her last, if her current collection of broomsticks had anything to show for) broom purchase. She had taken him out a few times before already, back when he was still relatively new and sporting his original modifications; since then he had been sanded and lacquered with a new coat of paint, and his frame fitted with a lance at the end of its shaft.

The Varápidos had revealed itself to be a unpredictable broom- not in the temperamental way Delta was- no, Quixote's mercurial nature was keenly veiled as well-meaning. Xailah found that particular quirk made it much harder for her to get a handle on him. Most of her other brooms that took a trick to maneuver, could be wrestled into control with a firm command; Quixote was the one exception. Not only did the Brazilian racing broom possess a mind of its own, but it also made it a point to make the fact very clear.

The crazy streak admittedly made him all the more charming to Xailah, although she'd never take him on the track for an official race; the mere hope of a smooth flight with him was too much of a gamble, therefore he was reserved purely for practice and leisurely flights.

The Quidditch Training Pitch had always been a hotspot for student gatherings- for reasons that should be mostly obvious. If it didn't host determined sports captains and their teams, then it provided an appropriate environment for the ambitious hobbyist to do some test flying. Raizel Voltrouz didn't seem to fall into either of those categories, at first glance. Her presence at the pitch- resting peacefully with a broom and a polishing rag in hand- was a surprise. Perhaps that mock broom race the girl had hosted back in December had rubbed off on her. Was Raizel looking to become an aviatrix?

Xailah extended the little Gryffindor a warm welcome as she drew within earshot of the child. "Fancy seeing you here Miss Voltrouz, were you planning on using the pitch?" She asked politely, shifting Quixote around in her arms to free a hand so she could wave to the cub. "I was going to fly a couple laps for a few minutes, but if you intend to make use of the space I'd be happy to seek another place to get some practice in." She offered. "I know fliers can be finicky when it comes to keeping company while on their brooms. Myself included." Her mind wouldn't register the broom the girl held, as she walked by, her focus mostly set on flying rather than passive chitchat.

Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe....

Distracted, that she was. Even a simple greeting from a person who just approached her without even noticing them had startled her and almost made her jump. But then, it was a familiar voice and looking up, she saw her.

Xailah Alptraum.

Gryffindor Broom Racer and former Broom Racing Captain. She was blessed by her presence during that unofficial race she held along with other known broom racers but among them, Xailah had caught most of her attention. Raizel had always been fascinated by spells and the many ways of using them, whether for defending or attacking and even support. Seeing Xailah cast all of those spells, whether to help her teammates or make things easier for her when facing the danger scattered around the track, was the best thing that could happen to her.

As a duellist, Raizel had seen tons of spells flying around and she had experienced how it felt getting hit by most of those. It used to bring her thrill but lately, duelling started becoming stale and she felt like she was going nowhere. No improvements at all. Only thing she can feel about it now was nothing but frustration. Seeing spells in broom racing though just felt different, especially with how much you can do with those spells. Xailah demonstrated that during her race. It looked so hard trying to cast and aim while flying on a broom but she did it with ease.

Oh, how she wished she was like that… being a good spellcaster but she wasn't, her duels says it all.

“Miss Alptraum.” She said back, acknowledging her upperclassman's presence, recovering from her initial shock. Truth be told, it is a rare sight for her to be here. In the duelling club, yeah, sure. If one would want to find her, the duelling club is their best bet. She had no love for any broom sport yet here she is. Something changed that at least. Whether it's her feeling like duelling isn't really for her or simply drawn to the chaos and thrill that broom racing has that her interests are starting to shift into the said broom sports. “Uh… no, not yet. Not really a great flyer. Maybe a bit later if I feel prepared enough.” Raizel admitted to her with a sheepish smile and a chuckle.

“Say, can I watch you fly around?” She asked. It might not look like it but her asking that took a lot of her courage already. She wasn't sure if Xailah wanted to have someone watching her practice but she was interested in what else she could do, not just in terms of spellcasting, but even when it comes to her flying techniques. Is she starting to look up to Xailah the way she had looked up to her duelling mentors? Yes, yes she is. It was because of her that she felt so alive while watching her race after all.

She would join her, up in the sky, maybe learn a thing or two from her, but like she said, she wasn't a great flyer and it was only recently that she had started practicing because she signed up for an unofficial Quidditch game. Her flying skills need some polishing and she wouldn't want to embarrass herself in front of a veteran flyer. Her confidence had already been shattered into a million pieces, she doesn't want herself breaking some more. While she was picking up on the skills for it quite fast due to her usual dedication and determination when she put her mind into things, she is still far from being a great flyer.
