Dearest Brother
Airlia · Lumi · Winter · / · Gael · Pyry · Winter
Airlia was openly crying as she ran up the steps to the owlery. She was running faster than ever hurrying because she needed to speak with her brother. It was her second day in Hogwarts and it was still so early in the morning that she hadn't seen anyone walking along the corridors. She'd woken up an hour earlier to write her letters to her brother and she hadn't been able to stop it. She'd cried.
Now she felt cold as she'd forgotten her cloak to the Hufflepuff common room and she was wearing nothing else than her button up shirt and uniform skirt. At the owlery owls were screeching, flying around and Airlia was quick to spot a public school owl bigger, and stronger looking than the rest. It would have to be able to endure a long flight and changing weathers.
She rolled up her papyrus letters and tied them to the owl's leg. She was missing an envelope but she hadn't been able to wait and waste time to ask for one from the students that would surely wake up in a few hours.
The second the owl took flight Airlia let out a quick sigh of relief. Now all she would have to do was wait for a response.

Dear brother,
What you told me two days ago deeply hurt me. I have no idea what I will do without you. I will not tell a lie; quite frankly I saw this coming. I know you far too well for you to be able to keep things hidden from me.
I must remind you that by leaving you will damn me to be mother and father's sole successor and it will not be an easy path for me.
I wish you all the love in the world, brother, but I must beg you now; do not leave me here alone. Stay. Please. Brother, no one loves you more than I do and I need you to guide me. I don't want to feel so lonely as I surely will without you here...
I know there is no way for me to stop you from going so I ask you to take me with you. We can travel the world together, there is no need for you to run away alone. You know I don't see myself ever leaving home for adventure but perhaps with you, I could do it.
I wonder if you only told me your secret so that I would hate you and leaving me behind would be easier for you.
But I accept you just as who you are and you know that. You can do no wrong in my eyes and loving someone is a blessing not a curse as you say no matter which gender you may fancy.
I care not of who you give your heart to may it be a woman or a man. I only wish you will include me in your life and let me know the man who has caught your heart. After all, if he got your interest, he must be quite special.
I understand your urge to protect the one you love from our parents but people have grown more accepting of people who love something else than the opposite gender.
I believe that eventually mother and father will accept you for who you are, but you can not know if you do not give them a chance.
Sincerely,
Your sister Airlia Winter, who still loves you very much.

My sweet, sweet sister,
I am sorry that I let you in on my plans. I didn't have the heart to say goodbye and feared that not doing so would just hurt you even more. I hate the thought that my decision will hurt you, but I know it will. There is no way around it.
I know what I am dooming you into, for my responsibilities of leadership of Taika will fall on your shoulders. I can not say how much I hate myself for doing so. I believe that Taika truly is the place for you. You are happy there and will be even happier once you reach adulthood and gain new freedoms. While the longer I stayed the more miserable I was.
I am so selfish it... It disgusts me.
Airlia I can not stay. No matter how much you beg. I wish I could for all I wish to hold you and tell you everything will be alright. I love you more than anything. I hope sincerely that you won't be lonely. You will have father and mother, Ezekiel.
You have no idea how much I wish I could barge into that school and steal you away for travels. It's all I ever wanted. For you and me to be free. To be by each other's side. I never thought that I would have to leave you like this. I always had an image in my head that you would be with me, traveling through countries, staying in motels and waiting for me there while I work to get money for our trips. But I know taking you with me would be even more selfish than leaving you home. You aren't meant for the type of life I will surely live on my journeys. Waiting for me while I work at some random job. Living wherever in a hundred different destinations around the world, not seeing our parents or friends. Not having a real home.
This is not a vacation and surely won't be easy for me. I know you would come with me if I were to take you, but I also know you would be miserable. I can not do that to you.
Yes... I told you so you would hate me. So you would loathe me and curse me out and tell me to leave and never come back. It was wrong of me to think that you wouldn't accept me like this. But even if you'd hated me, it wouldn't have been any easier to leave you...
His name is Angelo but I call him Angel. I truly do love him, sister. I have loved him since my fifth year of Hogwarts where we met. He was a Gryffindor you see and since I was a Slytherin, I could never really accept my feelings toward him. Not only my fear of my own sexuality stopped me from telling him how I felt but also our parents. They would never accept me being gay. They want heirs to our name and they need to be of our blood... They would be disgusted with me.
But you are wrong. Our parents would never accept this. Not me, not Angelo. This is why I must leave. My sexuality and love was the final nail on the coffin that made me leave.
I kept in touch with Angelo after our graduation and we made our plan together. He will arrive tomorrow night by floo all the way from England and then we will leave. His parents accept him and offered us a place to stay for as long as we'd like, but we will only stay there for a month. After that, we'll leave for our journeys.
I promise you, sister. You will meet Angelo. I know that one day I will marry this man. May you meet him at our wedding years from now, or at a secret meet up in the forest near our house during Christmas, it won't matter. I already know you will love him.
I attached a picture of Angelo on this letter. He looks a bit like us, doesn't he? Would definitely fit the family description.
Sincerely,
Your brother Gael Winter, who cares for you more than anything.
