HAH, This is easy for me as I've never taken any pictures. I'd choose that over the valuable.

"The good of the city" is an extremely vague idea. Do you mean that it would save more than one life? If so, yes- though I don't have a wife so I couldn't know for sure. If it will save one life or less though, no.
