A Rose For A Dance~ PV Luna Choi

It was still before curfew but Geoffrey did not have long until he'd be risking a detention for being out of his dormitory. But even if he got caught no doubt the rumor would be enough to get the same desired result. Whether it took more then one attempt he would achieve his goal. He took the Marauders Map out of his robe pocket assessing the floor he was on. All was clear at least for now. With a sigh he took out the rock he'd collected from the Grounds earlier. Rolling it in his hand as specks of dirt crumbled off it he took a breath then hurled it through the window of the Herbology classroom.

He used his fist with the sleeves of his robe rolled over his hand to break out enough of the windows jagged pieces to climb through. Ensuring he was careful not to tear his robe as he did so. Once he was through the window he would jump down onto the floor. Checking his map again in the dim light that flickered from the torch in the corridor outside. Stuffing the map into his robe he proceeded to one of the nearby shelves. He placed on the gloves he'd purchased before coming to the school & grabbed a garden shear. In the darkest part of the corner was a chest that had strong vine-like growths protruding from it.

He recognized it from one of his parents work trips. Not too mention a very interesting piece he'd read in a Herbology magazine. The temptation was too much, although it was not what he'd come here for he wanted it all the same. Quickly moving to it he found the smallest most exposed vine & placed the shears around it before quickly cutting off the tentacle. The box rattled & the creeping tentacles thrashed about, but he cared not. Grabbing the cutting he quickly placed it inside a phial & placed the stopper in. Stuffing it into his pocket quickly moved away from the box hidden in the dark & damp corner.

Taking the map out he had another quick look at it's contents in the dancing light of the torch fire outside. It seemed most of the students were in their dorms except for a few. Sighing he placed the Marauders Map into his pocket. Into been quite the experience learning such a tool existed within these walls. He'd heard a foolish Hufflepuff bragging about his ownership of it. Geoffrey had been patient & waited until the student was alone. Then he relieved him of the item he'd clearly been incapable of efficiently utilizing.

He shook his head shaking the memory from his mind, after all it was likely there were replica's. If that was true the longer he lingered the higher his chances of getting caught were. Walking quietly towards the rose bush that was his whole reason for risking detention. You see roses had a certain romantic power that appealed to both Muggles & Wizards alike. In fact it was something used in a variety of romantic potions. Although some parts of the plant were ill-advised for use. Luckily he had no interest in it's magical properties. Geoffrey desired it for the cultural symbolism of the plant, the romantic ideals associated with it.

While there would undoubtedly be wild roses on the grounds somewhere. He knew the Herbology Professor took great pride in her plants. Taking his time to find the best rose in the bush he gently found the base of it's stem & took his chosen rose. Bringing the flower safely out of the plant he would return the shears to the bench he found them on. Holding the stem of the rose in his mouth he climbed out taking the same care exiting the room as he had entering it. Dusting himself off the First Year Slytherin couldn't help but have a proud smile upon his face. "Surely this will do as an appropriate gift when I ask her to the ball." he would quietly say to himself, after he'd taken the rose from his mouth holding it gently in his grasp. Geoffrey couldn't help but smirk when he imagined the look on her face. This would perhaps be his most interesting experiment yet.

"Meow~"

Luna heard it, but she didn't look back at her little cat, who was following behind her. She could hear some students, talking about how cruel she was, letting the poor and cute cat followed her behind like this. No one noticed how slow she was walking right now, and sometimes she turned back, checking if he was still there, although she hid it by acting like she was only playing with her lavender hair. She couldn't hug him all the way, she was not that strong and not hurting him was not easy to do. Putting him in her bag? Her strength was the problem again. Basically, she had no choice but letting him follow her like this. About what those others were saying? Ignored them. But there was a "small" problem. She hated that so many people were looking at her, maybe she should walk faster...

After a while, no one was around her anymore and she easily noticed it. She was still walking on the Grounds, so it was rare to see no one around here... The young girl took out the Marauder's Map and started to check it. This was the fastest way to know where to go for patrolling. She was not interested, not at all, in going around this big ground just to search for students breaking the rules. If she saw someone's name, she just needed to go to where they were, warned them that the time to go back to the dorm and checked what they were doing. And guessed what would happen if they were not lying on their bed at ten o'clock? ...Well, not detention if it was only a bit late or they had a good reason of course.

"...What is he doing here?" Her eyes stopped when she saw a familiar name, and he was in the Herbology Classroom? That place was locked for sure. This guy... breaking rules again..."Ray, go back to the dorm. I am sure that you know the way, don't you?" Whispering to the cat, Luna didn't turn her gaze to her cat but still looking at the map. Now he was almost outside... No one but she was around, and he should be glad about it. Or was it because almost no one was around so he did this?

Ray is a nice cat, well, at least he was nice to his owner. Although he didn't know why he had to leave, the cat still decided to do what she told him to. Luna let out a sigh after she was sure that Ray had left. She believed him that he could go back there himself.

She looked at the other places on the map. The other students started to go back to their dorms, no one was around here... and he was still in the class. It was still before ten o'clock, but going back to the dorm now was not a bad idea. She was actually glad that they came back. Less work to do, of course, she had to be glad. Only a small problem here, every time she met this guy, he had to break at least one rule. From what she could see, he was breaking another one by breaking into the Herbology class... She was not even surprised that he did it anymore. Organizing a party, playing with the Whomping Willow, what kind of rules that he would be afraid to break?

It didn't take her too long to be near the class and saw him climbing out of there through a broken window, holding something in his mouth. She lightly walked near him, finally realized what it was. A rose? Guys were weirder than she thought... He was wearing the Slytherin uniform, which meant he could put it somewhere, but he chose to... hold the stem of the rose in his mouth. She could understand more if he was showing it off to someone, but no one was here, except her. However, he couldn't know that she was right near him. Whoever said understand women was hard, pretty sure that person was wrong. Men were as difficult to understand as women...

"Mister Ryan. I hope you can give me a good reason to break into the Herbology class and stole this rose?" Brewing love potion? They were just first-year student, no way he could think about it. Maybe using it to make the dorm more beautiful? If she stole a rose, the reason might be... giving it to her cat. Though she could be sure that they were not alike, so the only way to know was waiting for him to answer.

Geoffrey began landed with a soft thud, standing he would check his robes briefly. Perfect, not a single tear in his robes. No one would know it was him. That was when he heard it, the voice of the Slytherin Prefect who'd caught his attention. It seemed that he had in turn caught her attention with his post curfew behavior. He gave her a grin full of mischief & removed the Rose from his mouth. Twirling it in his fingers he would listen to her words with a chuckle. "Miss Choi...how fitting it should be you who discovered me." he would say taking a step closer towards her. That sapphire eye of his holding her in his gaze as he approached her closer.

"I doubt you'll find this a valid reason. You see I have stolen this rose for you." he would say to the Prefect letting the words sink in, he watched her reaction closely. "It's my understanding that there will be a ball held soon. I wished to acquire a flower worthy enough to gift you with my invitation. The only ones I could find that were suitably vibrant were those in the Herbology Greenhouse." he would say with another smile although truth be told this one could be interpreted more as a smirk. Taking another step so as to close the distance between them both even more. No doubt there were very few who would be comfortable with a Ryan so close to them.

Geoffrey reached out to gift the Prefect with the stolen rose. "Luna Choi, would you do me the honor of accompanying me to the Blossom Ball?" he spoke confidently & with that noble charm lacing his every word. The young first year was curious as to how she would react. No doubt it would be a most unexpected turn for the Prefect. After all surely she had not thought that he'd have been that interested in her, let alone enough to risk detention. But if previous encounters with the youth were anything to go by one thing was for sure, Geoffrey was not afraid of receiving a detention. Already his mind was a buzz with what the other students would say. What intrigued him the most was the question of how his sister would react to the site.

Fitting? How? Luna silently looked at the Slytherin in front of her with questions on her mind. Was there any possibility that he wanted to meet her? Based on all the times that they met each other, having a good feeling was impossible. It might be a kind of revenge. As she mentioned before, she usually met him when he was breaking the rules. Telling her to believe that he wanted to meet her to do something good, nope, she refused to do it.

Well..., at least he knew that she wouldn't think of this as a valid reason. Seriously, that was a bad lie. We could say that was the worst lie she heard this month. As if she would believe a person that she had met only a few times, in those situations would invite her to a ball. He even stole a rose from one of the greenhouses although that could still cause him in trouble. Just, impossible.

As before, Luna didn't say a thing, just looked at him stepping closer with the doubtful eyes. To be fair, she didn't know there would be a ball. It was just something that she wouldn't care about, though it didn't seem like she could keep ignoring it as before. Suddenly, a thought popped up on her head.

He actually had another rose hiding somewhere in his uniform. It was for the person that he actually wanted to invite to the ball that she didn't even know when. He used this rose to trick her that he invited her to the ball, and then when she showed up, he would... make fun of her? She was not sure if he was this kind of person, but she should still be more careful.

"You... Do you know that even if you break the greenhouse to, hm, steal this rose for me," She hesitated a bit at this part, looking at the rose that he was giving her, and then looked back at him, "You still break the rule and probably get a detention?" A normal student would give up after hearing this. But since we were talking about Geoffrey, and Luna was pretty sure he wasn't normal at all, she couldn't say anything. "And Mister... are you sure that you didn't mistake me to someone else?" Yes, she knew that he even said her full name. But what if there was someone who drank Polyjuice Potion to face with him as "her"? Just like the last one, it sounded really weird but it was possible...

Geoffrey smirked at her words "Naturally...but what's life without a little risk?" he would ask Luna. When she asked if he was certain he smiled confidently. "You have a sense of duty. You're not afraid to challenge others when your intentions are questioned. From what I've seen you're an interesting individual Miss Choi & I'd like to get to know you better." he would simply say with a sigh.

Perhaps it would be more difficult then he thought to court an individual at this school. Perhaps the literature he'd chosen had mislead him. He stood there wondering why she was so taken aback by his attempt to court her. Then it dawned on him perhaps it was because he was a Ryan & she was a prefect? Maybe she thought his intent had some ulterior motive. "If you'd prefer we could make it a more private affair? Enjoy the night away from everyone else? I understand if you don't wish to be seen with a Ryan." he would say to her voicing his thoughts on why he thought she might be hesitant.

Then again he could've been overthinking things, it was something he had a tendency to do. Perhaps he was too forward after all she did just bust him & it was her job to deal with such matters. Maybe he should have waited until after.

"Hmm," Luna didn't continue. She agreed but also disagreed to him. Sometimes, you had to risk to archive things that you wanted, that was not wrong. But she couldn't help but think about the worst case, which was the reason why she usually avoided bringing herself into troubles. Making a decision was always hard. To be fair, she couldn't avoid troubles like usual anymore since she became a prefect, a bit annoying. One thing she realized after becoming a prefect, your life wouldn't be peaceful anymore. The potion party, the not-a-prefect Luna wouldn't join but the prefect Luna would... so annoying.

Sense of duty. Of course, of course, she had. Which was also why troubles kept coming to her after she applied for the prefect role. Mari Haynes and Geoffrey Ryan, those two... Well, at least the Hufflepuff girl wasn't as clever as this Ryan boy, or she would be pretty big trouble for the prefects, and for her rivals. And Luna was both a prefect and her rival, which was why that would bring her a bunch of troubles.

So, based on those compliments he gave her, he wasn't mistaking. Did that mean what she had thought before was right? The part that he wanted to make people think that she was a fool? She couldn't help but doubt him. To be honest, she doubted almost everyone around her. For example, Nico when she was being nice to Luna, the lavender hair thought her colleague had another intention. So basically, Ryan was not the only one that she doubted, it was just her personality.

"Well... maybe going to the Blossom fest together is enough." Private Affair? That.... sounded pretty easy for others to misunderstand, and she also had no reason to have something going on between Ryan and her, so maybe she would come back with the first one. Acting like being tricked, didn't sound too bad. "And... I do not see any reason to dislike being seen with a person with the last name Ryan." Clearly, she had never heard about the rumors of Erin Ryan. Luna didn't have any friends, not that she needed one, but since she didn't have, no one could be around her and talk about the gossips of Hogwarts. She also thought this school was all about learning, so Luna had never sat somewhere and listened to the "kids" around her telling gossips.

"Anyway, as I was saying, I do not have any intentions to let you go without checking..." She looked at him, "If you do not mind, I hope you can show me all the things that you have right now. I do not like to force people, so I hope I do not have to do it." Luna gently took out her wand but didn't do anything with it other than taking it out. She would rather avoid violence and breaking the rule. The reason she took out her wand was not for attacking him but for another purpose, she wasn't going to say what it was now though.
