Closed Meeting of the Martial Arts Club PV Club Members

When Jess first saw the notice for ‘Martial Artist Club’, she could hardly believe her eyes - you mean to say there’s enough people here interested in martial arts for them to make an entire club? Upon spotting the poster, she had almost immediately ran to the Owlery - in a speedy letter, she had begged her dad to send her judo kit to her, and a few days later, it had arrived. Before she went to Hogwarts, Jess had all but resigned her judo ‘career’ to be over - I mean, when will I ever have time to train? And yet here she was, about to attend her first session at the martial artist club.

Jess pushed on one of the ballroom doors, gripping her judo bag tightly. She was wearing a green t-shirt, black Nike leggings and white trainers, none of which was in particularly pristine condition. Once the door was successfully ajar, Jess could see an older girl in the centre of the room, crouched down in a middle split stretch while examining a list of some sort.

Jess breathed a short sigh of relief. At least I know I’m in the right place at the right time! Smiling, she made her way to the girl, speaking as she walked, “Hi there, I’m Jess. No need to ask whether this is Martial Artist club, I suppose! Are you the club owner?”

When Jess finally reached the girl, she too began stretching, jumping on the spot and doing a few star jumps, press ups and sit ups, just as her coach used to require. It feels so good to get back to doing something I love so much! Even before the session had started, Jess was sure that she’d be returning.

If someone was asked to describe Cass, they wouldn't have to use many words. Excitable however, was almost guaranteed to be one of them. The reasons behind the why were unknown to most, but Cass was always in action. Seeing them sitting still was like seeing a elephant fly. It just didn't happen. Sometime earlier in the year, they had signed up for half the clubs in the school in one of those moments. One of these clubs just happened to be the martial arts club. Normally they wouldn't be overly eager for anything with art in the name, but the poster had photos of people kicking things! Kicking things looked very fun to them.

So here they were, in a baggy black t-shirt and grey shorts with no idea what "martial arts" were. Hopefully this club didn't require any prior knowledge of the matter. If it did though, they fully planned to pretend they were a master. They pushed open the door to the ballroom to find that they were one of the first to arrive. Only an older year who was currently stretching, and another firstie like them occupied the grand room. "Is this the marshal art club?" they asked the girl beside them, confident that they were pronouncing it 100% right. What on earth could go wrong?

Hopefully all the moves were demonstrated beforehand. And someone explained what martial arts actually was. And everything was very easy. Perhaps they should abandon the plan of pretending they knew stuff and just say that they were here to learn. Oh well, far too late now! They would fake it till they ate it, as the muggle saying went.

Bailey, still in her middle split, looked up when she heard a door open. A smile lit up her face, seeing a few face.
” hello and welcome!” Bailey said to the girl, her excitement showing in her voice. “yes! I am Bailey, Bailey glade, and I am the president of sorts, of this club! My best friend, Kim, is my VP and he’ll be here in a bit!”
The girl joined her in warming up, doing some active movements to get her body warmed up. Bailey smiled to herself, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear, seeing that Jess, as she had introduced herself, at least knew a bit about what she was doing.
A few minutes later, another student joined them. Bailey, happy to see another face stood up and said “yes! Welcome! My name is Bailey Glade, and this is one of my many clubs here at Hogwarts! What is your name?”
While Bailey was introducing herself to the new member, she saw @Kim Sato walk in out of the corner of her vision. Turning her head towards her best friend, she refrained from gasping. If she was being honest, Kim looked awful - like he hadn’t been sleeping or eating (which honestly…. He might have not been doing)
“Kim!” she still called out, the cheerfulness slightly forced. “Why don’t you come over and introduce yourself to our new members?”

As Jess continued warming up, the girl said, "Hello and welcome! Yes! I am Bailey, Bailey Glade, and I am the president of sorts, of this club! My best friend, Kim, is my VP and he’ll be here in a bit!”
Bailey seemed pretty excited, which warmed Jess' heart. She was so hyped to finally be doing the thing she loved, something she thought she'd have to abandon when she came to Hogwarts.

After a few minutes of stretching in silence, other than the occasional huffs and puffs coming from both Bailey and Jess, she heard the door behind them open. Turning around, Jess recognised someone in her year, a Slytherin called Cass. They didn't really have many lessons together, but Jess had heard plenty about them. As they approached, Cass asked:
"Is this the martial arts club?"
Jess noticed with a slight chortle that, although Cass spoke entirely confidently, they had a particular pronunciation of the word 'martial' that didn't quite sound right.
Bailey replied, “Yes! Welcome! My name is Bailey Glade, and this is one of my many clubs here at Hogwarts! What is your name?”
She then called out, “Kim! Why don’t you come over and introduce yourself to our new members?”, and Jess was surprised to find another older year in the room. When did he get here? Jess didn't think he looked very well, but he nodded at her and Cass, to which she waved in response.

"You've joined the best martial arts club at the school, Bailey's the best at it and you won't regret learning from her. I'm Kim, the VP here. If you have any questions, I'm sure Bailey can answer them. We're both here to teach you how to learn the basics if you two are new. Or hopefully expand your skills if you're a veteran." Jess was certain that he'd looked right at her when he said the last bit! Can he see that I've been doing Judo my whole life? I really hope so!
Again, despite Kim's concerning demeanour, Jess was happy to be so warmly-welcomed by the club leaders. She was really keen to prove herself, and she hoped her martial arts past would be of use.

Just as Jess was about to initiate a conversation with Kim, he began, "I'd suggest going to Bailey for now though at least, I'm not really that great at the moment. I feel a little under the weather"
If she was honest to herself, Jess wasn't surprised - he really didn't seem to be in a good state. Instead, Jess turned back to Bailey, and asked, "So, what's the plan? Should we wait for more people to turn up, or are we going to get straight into it?"
