2023/24 Stage 3 Slytherin vs Ravenclaw: Match 7

Two down, one to go. Both of them going for Tracy had been borderline unethical, Draven thought grimly. But it was clear the opposite team had no qualms about using the same strategy. Rolling his shoulders back, he turned his sights on the last Ravenclaw. She was a first year, Draven noticed, his stomach turning. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair to put her up against the three- well- Draven cast a sidelong glance at Lucius, who was busy dancing a rather lively jig. Two. Of them.

His mouth a tight line, Draven leveled his wand at the last girl.

From his initial perspective, Pyxis thought that the duel seemed to favor the Ravenclaws despite them being all first years. However, as another one of them collapsed, he understod that the various spells effects that he had been put under were clouding his mind. They were up good as far as he was concerned, even with one of the Slytherins still in a daze. Luck and skill had been on their side thus far, but he'd been through enough to know that the scales could shift at any second. Time to buckle down.

Inara Yang vs Lucian Mornstern

Inara Yang casts Dancing-Feet Spell at Lucian Mornstern

Wisdom DC: 9
Wisdom Check: [d20: 3] + 9 = 12
12 > 9 → Success

10% Auto-Dodge Check: [d20: 12] → No Auto-Dodge (Lucian's Evasive Manuevers)

Accuracy Check: [d20: 4] + 6 = 10
Evasion Check: [d20: 9] + 8 = 17
10 < 17 → Miss

There was a lone Ravenclaw left - one against three...And things were not looking so good for the eagles. Lucian was dancing wildly barely able to control his body, as Inara tried to take advantage of the situation to take him out - a dancing-feet spell came his way - miraculously, Lucian managed to duck under it. Whether he had done that intentionally, or whether his crazy inter-locking dance moves had just made him accidentally dodge it, Jake didn't know.

Then there was a pause - perhaps the Slytherins were waiting for the spell to wear off of their partner for a true three-vs-one - it didn't look like Lucian could do much casting right now. Or maybe they were biding their time because they could. Waiting, ready to cast when Inara least expected it. How could you dodge three spells at once? IF the snakes could co-ordinate, the results could be devastating.

Jake watched with bated breath to see what they would do, and if Inara would be able to come back from the disadvantage against all odds. Her shot at Lucian could have been her last chance to take him down before the numbers advantage overwhelmed her. But it wasn't over yet...and she sure didn't look like she was about to give up.

2023/24 Stage 3 Slytherin vs Ravenclaw: Match 7
Draven's eyes drifted mindlessly over to where Lucian was busy dancing like his life depended on it. The Ravenclaw pressed what little advantage she had, aiming towards the Slytherin boy- and missing. Miserably. He blinked, realizing his own absent-mindedness had cost them several precious seconds. Pyx, too, seemed as stunned as he was. Shaking his head as if to clear it of fog, Draven returned his attention towards the singular girl standing on her side of the room. She seemed smaller the longer she stood there, shrinking before Draven's eyes.

Draven took a deep breath, rolling his shoulders back.

Just hit Lucian while he's dancing!! she thought to herself, aiming at Lucian. She watched as she miserably missed...

A bit surprised, she glanced at the other two boys who were perfectly fine, one of them hadn't even gotten hit this round. They didn't attack??

Huh.

Maybe she should've taken advantage of that. Too late now.. she noticed that they seemed to come back and focus, which didn't look too good, considering it was three versus one.. uh oh.

A collective daze had somehow fallen over the entire Slytherin team. Nothing much changed there for Lucien as he continued to do a classy jig and skip casting for the fourth time. But for once, Pyxis couldn’t complain as some haze had clouded his own mind. Perhaps it was his overthinking, strategizing if the Ravenclaw even had a chance to beat the three of them. Or maybe it was fear of his spell backfiring again. The wizard didn’t know exactly what caused him and Draven to lose their consciousness for a moment there, but he had his head back on now and hoped to end this duel sooner rather than later.

Jake couldn't help but root for an underdog, and so deep down he DID kinda hope that maybe somehow Inara would be able to overcome 3 vs 1 odds. It just seemed so unlikely, but he saw that the girl wasn't going to give up. And once again she targeted the dancing boy across the platform. This time Lucian's dancing wouldn't save him. The flames hit the Slytherin boy, who was taken off balance, and fell to the ground. He didn't get back up. For Inara, that was one down and two to go.

But the triumph would be short-lived. She had eliminated one of the Slytherins, but the other two didn't waste a second. Two knockback jinxes flew towards Inara, and before she could react, they would hit her one, and then the other, both pushing her backwards. It would take all she had to remain standing, thrown off balance, and nearly drained of energy. The Slytherins were going in for the kill, and with the time running out in the duel, they were not going to waste any more time. They were skilled duelists, and sharpshooters with their well-aimed knockback jinxes. But Inara WAS still standing, and she hadn't been defeated yet.

In desperate effort, she shot another spell at Lucian, this time an Incendio, and to her delight, she had hit her target! That felt good... kind of. But she couldn't help but wince as he didn't get back up.
As she watched this, she winced again, although this time, it was because she had been shot by two spells... at the same time. Well that's not good... - Why oh why couldn't she have paid attention in DADA? She regretted it so much now...

Draven's spell hit, but barely. The other boy's flippendo had thrown the Ravenclaw back, and out of the way of Draven's flippendo.

At least it would be over soon- he hoped. Not if Draven's aim had anything to say about it, apparently, but Inara looked about ready to keel over.

Pyxis peeked at the clock. Time was running out, but he and Draven were thankfully on the offensive again. It was surprising how much devastation they could cause together if they actually focused. Unfortunately, the last Ravenclaw had managed to take Lucien down, but Pyxis wasn't too bothered by that. Nothing would change and the only thing lost was the potential for a perfect game.
