Open to 1-2 more other than Alayna

Alayna boarded the Hogwarts Express after a rather teary good bye. Alayna hated goodbyes, almost more than she hated hellos. Alayna made her way to the middle of the train, theoretically it should be the least crowded as most liked to sit in either the front or back. Alayna was not disappointed, she soon found an empty compartment and slid inside.

Alayna sat with her next to the window - facing the back of the train - and took off her old leather satchel. After a minuet Alayna heard the final whistle, and the fist jolt of the train as it set off. Through the crowd of parents and siblings Alayna spotted her Mother, tears filled her eyes as she watched her shrinking into nothingness. How on earth was she going to make it through this year without her?

"Anything from the trolly dear?" Alayna whipped around to address the lady talking to her. "No, thanks." Alayna didn't want to waste any money on treats, money was better spent on practical things, like pencils, and clothes.

Once the trolly lady had moved on Alayna opened her satchel and took out her headphones and Ipod, her most prised possessions. She scrolled through her playlists and made her selection, some light music to calm her nerves. Then she took out her sketch pad and started sketching the scenery around her, so her Mother would have an idea of how beautiful the sights were.

Annie took a cautious step onto the Hogwarts express. This was it, she was finally going to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn how to become well, a witch. She turned around to give one last glance out the window at her parents waving and smiling at her. A small frown made it's way to her face as the train began to pull out from the station. There goes my last connection to safety.. she thought before turning around.

The compartments were bustling with noisy kids, some older, some younger like her. She pulled her luggage behind her before coming to a stop and the end of the isle-way. Annie took a deep breath and then made a tentative knock on the doors before peeking her head inside. She blinked slowly at the one other student sitting down before gazing off distantly. Her shoulder's stiffened when she came back to reality and realized she was still standing awkwardly in the door way. Yes, there was one person in this compartment, but it could have been worse. Annie's shoulders relaxed at the thought and she cleared her throat quickly. "C-Can I sit here with you?" She mumbled out the little sentence, her Irish accent noticeable and glanced around the room. Annie gulped, visibly nervous as she shifted her weight and luggage as the Hogwarts express moved forward ever silently. Could this person become my friend? Can I trust them? Annie shook her head, deep in thought and went back to the silent awkwardness as she awaited an answer from the other girl.

Alayna turned to see a girl around her age standing in the doorway. She looked alright, and it could have been worse, she could have gotten an overly confident person. Alayna though for a moment, choosing her words carefully to make sure she wasn't noticeably rude.

"Sure, feel free to take whichever seat you want." She said trying to hide her accent, the last thing she needed was this girl to start a conversation on Ireland.
Nicely done, accent still needs a bit of work though. Now time for the smile... Her features lightened and a small, wolfish grin spread across her face. Well, thats as good as I'm going to get it. she thought before relaxing her face.

Alayna stood up and moved her things to the side as her stuff had slowly spread across the compartment. Lets just hope this girl isn't too chatty, ah well, I guess it can't be that bad, now remember what Mother told you: Talk less, Smile more, Do whatever it takes to avoid war. good old Mother, so kind, so caring.

Alayna slipped her stuff back into her satchel and sat back down taking out a muggle newspaper. She popped it infront of her face, passive aggressive was probably the best way to go.

Annie watched as the other girl spoke and moved her stuff out of the way. She shuffled towards the room the other witch made for her and sat down. After tidying up her luggage she glanced over to the other girl who was now reading a newspaper. Well, I could try to start a small conversation.. Annie inhaled sharply and turned her body to face the other girl. "Thank you, everywhere else is full and too loud for my liking.." She paused and studied the girl before continuing. "My name is Annie Morgan, I'm guessing your new here like myself?" Annie motioned to each others robes while fumbling with her wand nervously.

The girl was very intent on reading that newspaper and hadn't tried responding to her. Annie snapped her head around and glared at the girl. "I just got out of my shell to talk to you, which mind you is very hard for me and you ignore me, well sorry to disturb you!" She huffed and pouted in the corner, acting like a hurt child. Annie played with the locket that hung around her neck, inside was a picture of her parents smiling at her. She sighed and rubbed her temples. "Yeah.. that came across wrong, sorry I'm just a bundle of emotions and I feel like I'm going to implode. I barely went outside before I got my acceptance letter to Hogwarts and I had literally no friends because everyone thought I was weird and now I dont have my parents so I feel entirely vulnerable and unprotected because they were my only source of safety.." The little brunette girl continued to ramble before looking up and running her neck sheepishly. "God, you must hate me, sorry I ramble, let's start over."

"Hi, my name is Annie Morgan."

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Alayna tied to ignore the girl when she spoke to her, but listening to this girl ramble was starting to drive her insane. Well, this girl was trying, least she could do is respond. She folded her newspaper, with a little more force than required, and turned to face the girl.

"I'm Alayna Barns, I would say it's a pleasure to meet you, but I don't like meeting people..."
She paused for a second, took a deep breath and plowed on through.
"And I know how you feel, I've been missing my Mother since the second I stepped onto this train."

Her accent had showed, but that probably wouldn't matter now. She gazed out the window for a moment, trying to calm herself. The last thing she needed was to loose her cool, she blinked back a few tears, and did her best to keep her voice level.

"I'm new too...... I was wondering... do you know anything about the Hogwarts Houses? I know a little, but I don't quite get what the are or how they work......" She asked, turning back to face the girl.

There, if I'm luck that'l calm this girl- Annie's nerves, at least she doesn't seem like the fighting type, Mother would be furious if she found out I managed to get into a fight before I even arrived at school...

Annie nodded as the girl, Alayna Barns spoke to her. She stopped fidgeting with her locket when she was asked a question. Her eyebrows furrowed as she paused to think for a minute before replying slowly. "So, there are four houses at Hogwarts, Gryffindor, Slytherin,
Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, yes?"
Annie stopped and took a breath and made sure Alayna was still following before she continued.

"There are specific traits for each house and that's usually how you get sorted is if you have those traits, for example my mom was an intelligent, quick thinking witch and some of Ravenclaw's traits are witty, clever and creative so my mom got sorted into Ravenclaw." She smiled slightly at the thought of being put into the same house as her mother but then shook her head and continued explaining the houses. "Oh and another house is Gryffindor which is home to those brave, courageous and loyal. Hufflepuff are kind, patient and hard working." Annie paused to catch her breath again having talked so much.

"Then there is Slytherin which they are cunning, determined and ambitious. Some say that a lot of evil witches and wizards come from Slytherin but I think that's just stupid. It's the person's actions that cause them to be so-called evil not the house they are sorted into.." Annie went off a little bit before blinking and coming back to realization. "Oh, ah anything else you want to know? I can guarentee I'll know it but I'll try to answer it to the best of my abilities." Her shy cover was gone and now she was just an excited and nervous ball of energy.

I literally have so many grammar mistakes and I had to keep rewriting half of this post because I kept clicking cut accidentally when I selected sentences I was going to bold. Gr..
