It's been awhile...
Rosie's hand covered the scar self consciously when Howie pointed it out, but she'd nod. "Yeah. They... if I knew magic better, if I was older..." The girl trailed off. It was pointless. She didn't know much magic and she was thirteen. Eventually.. maybe. She laid there and watched the clouds for a few moments. "We're kids, Howie. Kids stuck in the middle. We know to much to exist with muggles and we're looked down on by the wizarding world. My family hates me because I'm a witch and the wizarding world simply tolerates me, at best, because of how I was born." Her frustration and and voice was rising as she spoke.
Catching herself, she took a deep breath and laid the bottom of her palms on her eye lids, applying a gentle pressure before propping herself up on her elbow and looked at her one time boyfriend turned friend. "Sorry... It's just. Frustrating as hell." If Howie was paying attention, he'd note that this was the first time he'd likely heard Rosie curse, as mild as it was. This could have hinted at a couple things. The first was that Rosie was comfortable around Howie, which was a no-brainer. But the second was that, it was entirely possible that Rosie had a bit of a temper, even if a well-controlled one, perhaps even a darker side. After all, the girl had certainly been through enough.
She grunted, putting further voice to her frustration and flopped back down, facing the sky. "Forget it."

It's been awhile...
Howie listened closely as Rosie spoke. Her words were true. The pair were some of the few that had been cast out of thier worlds, thrown into a new one based off thier gift. A leg on either side of the fence. However many in this new world would not accept them, as if they were foreigners in thier own country. They wanted to take them from thier homes, control thier magic, but did they truly accept them? He did not blame her for the frustration that came forth with her words. He had felt the same.
“You’re not wrong Rosie.” He shifted his weight to face her. “In fact, that’s my point entirely. We are stuck in the middle. I was born with the same gift as everyone else here, yet somehow I am made to feel an outsider. I know some don’t care, but I’ve heard the whispers from the others. They look down on us for how we were born, as if we had a choice. And what do the others do? Nothing. They’ll see one day.” If Rosie was looking, she may see his eyes grow dark. “We are young now, but mark my words, I will not spend the rest of my life being looked down on by the entire world. Not in this one or the one I came from, even if I have to carve out the space myself.”
He was breathing a little deeply as the words flowed out, almost uncontrollably. He cleared his throat as his eyes met hers once more. Howie was far from the boy she had met, and clearly by her words, she too was not the same. “You do not have to apologize to me Rosie...ever. We are different people now, but we have to stick together if we want a place here.”
