Isabella walked around the Hogwarts Library. Ever since she came to this school, she had finished all the books that she had brought from home. She would reread them, but from time to time, that got really boring. She also had no desire to read her textbooks, as reading those got really boring too, even if it was filled with new information.
She looked around, looking at all the books there was available. Hogwarts had much more books than she had back in London. Sure, there were plenty of Muggle libraries that she could go to to get books, but lots of those books were boring and did not portray magic the way it actually was. The libraries next to her house, though, contained old, worn books that were very outdated. She swore that one time, she saw her grandfather's name in one of the books. In Hogwarts, though, they had the most up to date books on any topic that was needed, from muggle studies to how to make a polyjuice potion.
Passing authors with last names starting with A and B, she nearned the authors with the last name starting with C. Lots of the books seemed boring to her, but one stood out. With the world map on the cover with ships moving about it, Isabella picked it up. She loved the sea and sailing around, although boats made her seasick. She read the cover.
"The Mythical Magic of Modern America". Huh," she thought to herself. She had never heard of this book, but it seemed very interesting. Isabella's dream is to go to America and learn about the whiches and wizards there. She had heard stories about the magical place. Her grandpa had once visited long ago and told her stories about it. She longed to see the tall skyscrapers and try American food that had not yet made its way to England. Her grandfather had tried recreating a dish that he had tried in Chicago called pizza, but it was not that good. He had told her that once she graduated from Hogwarts, he would take her to Chicago, a magical place in America, and have her try the best pizza in the world.
She looked down at the author.
"Daisy Chan," Isabella thought. "I've never heard of them."
Isabella grabbed the book under her hands and walked to check it out. She walked passed a boy, sitting down and doing his homework. He reached into his pencil bag to grab something. Suddenly, everything from his bag spilled onto the floor. He became flustered and quickly went to pick everything up. Isabella, being naturally kind in nature, put her book down and ran to help him out.

Emile frantically flipped through the pages of his Herbology textbook, taking notes and also writing on some parchment as he did. How could he have forgotten to do his homework? On top of that, Herbology was his favorite subject. As a child, Emile had always loved nature and everything about it. He thought that Herbology homework would be the one he would always have turned in on time and with great precision. Yet here he was, seated in a chair in the library with Herbology next period.
Emile had gone through his first couple of periods that morning fine. It was until he got to lunch that his day was absolutely wonderful. He had started with eating a donut, being able to talk to some friends at the lunch table, and having a nice cup of peppermint tea. He liked his tea with tons of sugar, but that was beside the point. During his period right before his study hall time in the library, he had heard mention of, "Hey, did you finish the Herbology homework? I finished it last night in the nick of time." A student had said. Emile's heart almost dropped out of his chest and onto the corridor floor when he heard that. Not really, but that's how it felt. After, he had jogged through the corridors and taken a seat in the library as quickly as possible. He got out his notebook, parchment, a quill, his notes from the last class, and his textbook. He had been working for a bit, but he still only had one roll of parchment done. Unfortunately, this was because Emile had his notebook to write in too. A new fact about some plant? It could be used in a story, so it had to go into his notebook at that moment, otherwise he would most definitely forget. This was the down fall of Emile Yorke during homework time. On top of that, being the child of two authors, he felt inclined to write over the requirement for rolls of parchment per homework assignment. For example, the teacher might ask for two, and he would write four. This was the second downfall, as this made his homework take a lot longer. Trying to finish it in one period was stressing him out enough, so he tried his best to push those thoughts out his head head.
At one point, while writing in his notebook about the plants of the Great Lake, he needed a new pencil. He had vowed never to write with a quill in his notebook, as that could take of valuable space on other pages if it were to bleed through. He always wrote in pencil to ensure this never happened and that he always made the most of his pages, even if it wasn't possible to never have enough of them. Anyway, he reached into his bag on the back of his chair, going quickly as not to lose time, and dropped it onto the ground. He swiftly made a grab for it, and in the act of that accidentally knocked over his chair by leaning on the back too hard. Fortunately, he would not be needing to go back to the Hospital Wing at this point, but on the other hand all of his things had fallen onto the ground. "Less time for Herbology." He muttered, his tone filled to the brim with annoyance. He was also extremely embarrassed that he had just shown his clumsiness in front of everyone. As he was picking up his things, another girl came and started to help him with it. She seemed extremely nice, and from the looks of her robes she was a Hufflepuff. "Thank you.." Emile said, smiling a bit weakly.

Maisie frantically ran towards to library to find her mother's books. Earlier that day, she was reading her mother's book titled "The Mythical Magic of Modern America". But, being the klutz that she is, she left her bookmark in the book. The bookmark itself held no magical properties, but it was one of the few things she brought from home. It was a simple blue bookmark with a ribbon attached to it; at the end of the ribbon was an Aquamarine.
"Callahan...Campbell......Castillo.......Chan!" she murmured as she skimmed the bookshelves for her mother's surname, "Wait, where's the book!? I literally left it here like two periods ago!" Giving up on spot, she walked to the nearest table and plopped down. It's been less than a week, and she'd already lost something. Just great. "How am I ever going to survive this?" she thought as she laid her head on the table to rest. "At least in America, I can take a bus down to uncle Alexander in Chicago whenever there was a break."
After a solid five minutes of having an existential crisis in the middle of the library, the smallest twinkle in the corner of her eye caught her attention. Four tables away was her bookmark! The tiny Aquamarine was shining in multiple directions; which made it hard to miss if you were looking in the general direction. Next to it were two students: a Gryffindor and a Hufflepuff. They seemed to be in their own worlds. The Gryffindor was frantically writing in his journal with a....pencil?? "HOLD UP! We could've brought pencils to this place?!? I thought you could only use quills. Okay, I know what I'm asking for this Christmas," Maisie thought as she continued to scan and assess the situation. And the Hufflepuff seemed to be reading her mother's book in silence. "At least mom's books are popular here," she thought as she gathered her materials and began walking near the two students.

"Oh! Um...you're welcome!" Isabella told the boy. "I'm Isabella, by the way. Isabella Holland. What's yours?"
Isabella learned that the boy's name was Emile Yorke. He was a first year Gryffindor and also happened to be the Prefect of Gryffindor.
"I forgot to do Herbology homework," he told he
Currently, Isabella was friendless at Hogwarts. Emile, though, seemed like a nice kid. Sure, he was a little shy and quiet, but so was Isabella. Sometimes, it takes one shy guy to stand up for two shy people to become friends. Isabella sometimes chickened out in making a new friend, as she did on the Hogwarts Express, but this time, she wouldn't. This time, she decided, she would try to not be lonely. She came up with a plan and attempted to put it into action.
"That's cool. I was just here to get a book. I finished all my books from home. Say," she said, "would you mind if I sat with you and read my book? I would go back to the common room, but everyone is a bit rowdy today, and I'm not the best at being alone."
Emile nodded, and Isabella pulled out the chair next to him and sat down. She opened her book up to the first page, flexed the spine open, and begun to read. Suddenly, something fell out of the book.
Isabella lifted it up and looked at what it was.
"A bookmark," she thought to herself. The bookmark was a laminated aquamarine one. It had a ribbon on the end of it. Whoever left it in the book must have left it there. Isabella decided to use it for the time being until she found its righteous owner.
Isabella got so into her book that she did not even realize that Emile was slowing down his furious writing in his journal and was now, a little more calmly, completing his Herbology homework. She also did not realize another girl, a Ravenclaw, walking towards them with all her stuff.
"What does she want with two quiet shy kids?" Isabella asked herself.
The mysterious Ravenclaw put her stuff down and took a seat across from Emile.
"Do you guys mind if I sit here?" she asked. Isabella quickly realized. She's American.
Isabella shook her head and excitedly waited to learn more about her.

Emile took a moment to study the girl who had helped him pick up his things. She seemed to be a very kind soul, and she also seemed to be very interested in the world. This was just his perception, but it seemed to fit her. "Oh! Um...you're welcome! I'm Isabella, by the way. Isabella Holland. What's yours?" The Hufflepuff told Emile. Isabella! So that was her name. Emile made a mental note in his head. He hadn't really met anyone extremely kind at his time here yet, so he wanted to make sure he remembered to write about her in his notebook. He wasn't saying that the people he had met weren't nice, but he didn't think that all of them had completely pure hearts. Maybe it was just because they had just met, but Isabella seemed to be very, very kind. "I'm Emile. Emile Yorke. I must look super stupid right now. Tripping and all. I'm supposed to be a prefect, and example." He mumbled the last part and shook his head a bit, but anyone with half could ears would have been able to hear what he had said. He finished picking up the rest of the contents of his bag from the ground and sat back in the chair from before. He face was bright red from the events that had happened.
"I got stressed out and I haven't finished my Herbology homework yet." Emile admitted to Isabella, scratching the back of his neck a bit embarrassed. "That's cool. I was just here to get a book. I finished all my books from home. Say," she said, "would you mind if I sat with you and read my book? I would go back to the common room, but everyone is a bit rowdy today, and I'm not the best at being alone." Isabella asked.
Emile nodded, of course. He could never turn down a friend, if that was what might happen between him and Isabella. "Of course!" He said, pulling out the chair with one of his free arms for her. She sat down and started to read her book, while Emile continued to work on his homework, making sure to slow down a bit so what happened before didn't happen again. He didn't feel like cleaning his stuff up and kneeling on the ground again.
When Isabella opened her book, Emile noticed the bookmark as well, and in about half a millisecond he was already writing about the mysterious bookmark. It was a lovely bookmark as well, so this could make for a good story. A haunted bookmark..a bookmark with a portal in it..so many possibilities! He got excited just thinking about it. At the same moment, Emile also noticed the Ravenclaw walking towards them. She sat down across from him and Isabella. "Can we help you?" Emile asked, curiously.

Isabella, in the future roleplay usually goes as people write it. So like you shouldn't say that I already introduced myself when I didn't in my own post. For example it would go like this:
Mary Sue: Hi I'm Mary Sue
Johnny, in another post: Hi it's nice to meet you Mary Sue, I'm Johnny
Hopefully this makes sense!

The closer that she got to the other two students, the sooner she began to realize who they were. The boy, if her memory was correct, is one of the prefects from Gryffindor. His name was something along the lines of Emile Young? York? Yorkshire? Maisie didn't quite remember, but she did remember some girls gossiping about how "cute" he was and how his parents were authors. "Well that makes two of us," Maisie thought.
By the time she was only a table away, she was certain that that bookmark was her's, but she also caught a glimpse of the time. There were only 20 minutes until herbology class. The tiny aquamarine gem just sat there, waiting for Maisie to reclaim it. But how does one go up to someone and just say, "That's actually mine." No, if she did that, she would come off as too rude, she thought. Ugh!
Sucking up her dignity and pride, Maisie walked over and just sat down on the extra chair. The Hufflepuff girl seemed a bit startled at her abrupt behavior, but Maisie could care less. Class began in 19 minutes, it would take her at least 10 minutes to walk out to the gardens, then it would take her about five minutes to find a new book to read, and that only left her a few minutes to get back her precious bookmark. "Do you mind if I sit here?" she asked without skipping a beat. "Hi, I'm Margaret-Myrcella Li, but please call me Maisie. I think that that is my bookmark. I left it in the book you are currently holding, and could I just like....have it back?" she spat out in one breath, forgetting to breathe in between her words.

The Ravenclaw girl came up to the table and Emile immediately started to panic a bit internally. Usually random people didn't just walk up to him, so this was a bit nerve racking to say the least. Whenever anything strange happened, Emile immediately thought about the worst that could happen. What if she's with the mafia and has come to kill me? Maybe she has a knife in her robes..maybe she hates my parent's books?! Emile looked like he was fighting with himself. His awkwardness levels skyrocketed as his thoughts went to worse places. He looked at Isabella a bit desperately, almost as if to ask for a bit of help. Then he realized that he probably looked like an idiot.
He was not about to lose his dignity for the second time in front of Isabella, someone he had just met. He took a deep breath. Okay, Emile. Live up to your nickname, Caligula! You can do this. You're a prefect. You've already dropped your things. Your social life is probably already over. You have nothing to lose. If she's from the mafia, I can duel her. Or maybe I can't. Hey, this would make for a great story! He thought, suddenly smiling to himself a bit. He quickly took out his notebook just as the Ravenclaw sat down in front of him and was finished the second before she started talking, thankfully. "Do you mind if I sit here?" She said, seeming calm and collected. Emile looked at her. She was definitely not from the mafia.
He mentally punched himself for jumping to conclusions so fast. He needed to work on that. It was something he would do quite often. Maybe it was thanks to his imagination, but that pesky brain could be a good thing and a bad thing at the same time. "Yes, of course." Emile said, nodding and watching her sit down. He wondered why she had sat down though, and across from him and Isabella in particular. He glanced at the Hufflepuff quickly then turned back to the Ravenclaw. "What does she want with two quiet shy kids?" Emile heard Isabella say, and he wondered the same thing.
"Hi, I'm Margaret-Myrcella Li, but please call me Maisie. I think that that is my bookmark. I left it in the book you are currently holding, and could I just like....have it back?" The girl in front of him said all in one breath. Emile nodded approvingly at her not breathing at all, then noticed this was not the time to think about that. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Maisie. I'm Emile Yorke. You can call me Emmy or Emile or whatever you want." He said, holding out his hand to shake. He thought Isabella would probably be able to introduce herself on her own. He didn't want to take that away from her if she wished to do that.
"I don't want to be rude or anything..but I just need to make sure since I'm supposed to be a prefect and all. Can you prove it's your bookmark? Stealing is prohibited on school grounds, so." Emile desperately wished he hadn't hurt her feelings. "I don't think you would steal, but it's a very pretty bookmark." He said, a weak smile forming on his lips.

As the girl came close to her, Isabella could see Emile getting a little nervous. He looked at her, perhaps for a bit of reassurance, but Isabella needed that herself. She was never good at social interaction, and people coming up to two shy little kids scared her even more. Even though, she gave Emile a reassuring smile and hoped that her message went though to him.
"Can we help you?" Emile asked the girl at the table.
"Do you mind if I sit here?" she asked. Without skipping a beat, she also added "Hi, I'm Margaret-Myrcella Li, but please call me Maisie. I think that that is my bookmark. I left it in the book you are currently holding, and could I just like....have it back?"
So that was the girl's name. Maise. Isabella remembered hearing her name at the sorting ceremony. She was sorted into Ravenclaw, which probably makes a lot more sense why her bookmark is a pretty aquamarine. She also overheard a conversation between her and some other classmates about author parents, but Isabella couldn't quite remember.
Isabella looked at Emile to see what he might do. She saw a little nod, and then he said "Well, it's nice to meet you, Maisie. I'm Emile Yorke. You can call me Emmy or Emile or whatever you want."
If Emile thought this girl was okay, then sure, why not become friends with her too. If Emile and her could become friends, then possibly Maisie and her could also become friends.
So Isabella decided to introduce herself. She took a breath and said, "And I'm Isabella Holland. You could call me Belle or Isabella. What ever you please."
Isabella held out her hand to give Maisie the bookmark until a voice stopped her.
"I don't want to be rude or anything..but I just need to make sure since I'm supposed to be a prefect and all. Can you prove it's your bookmark? Stealing is prohibited on school grounds, so. I don't think you would steal, but it's a very pretty bookmark." Emile said with a weak smile forming on his lips.
Then Isabella realized. This could all be a hoax. Maisie could just want the bookmark, and it's not actually her's. Isabella drew her hand back and held onto the bookmark. She just wanted to get it back to the right person, not a possible thief looking for a nice bookmark.

"Oh gosh, I hope I didn't come off as rude or arrogant," thought Maisie. "These two seem like pretty chill people who I'd totally become friends with but like....herbology class > friends." After sitting down for a second and regaining her breath, Emile began introducing himself:
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Maisie," said Emile. "I'm Emile Yorke. You can call me Emmy or Emile or whatever you want." The more Maisie looked at him, the more she began to realize why those girls were gossiping about how "cute" he was. Objectively, he was quite attractive, but he was a tad bit on the scrawny side. Either way, there's no way in Merlin's beard was she going to ever fall for him.
Then the Hufflepuff girl spoke, "And I'm Isabella Holland. You could call me Belle or Isabella. What ever you please." Awww, this girl is so sweet! Belle vaguely reminded Maisie of herself when she wasn't running late for herbology class!
Right after Isabella's introduction, Emile pipped in, "I don't want to be rude or anything..but I just need to make sure since I'm supposed to be a prefect and all. Can you prove it's your bookmark? Stealing is prohibited on school grounds, so. I don't think you would steal, but it's a very pretty bookmark." He said as a weak smile formed upon his lips. His cute, petite little smile held so much innocence, thought Maisie.
"Well," Maisie began as she switched to her poised voice, "That bookmark is definitely mine because if you untie the ribbon, you can actually unfold the bookmark." As she spoke, she took the bookmark out of their hands and started to demonstrate what she was saying. "And voila!" she exclaimed as she revealed the inside of the bookmark, "These are polaroids of me as a child. Now, do you believe that this is my bookmark?"

Emile felt a bit like he was being watched, but luckily he didn't really notice that Maisie was the one doing so. His mind was still trying to tell himself that Maisie really wasn't here to finish business and that she wasn't actually part of the mafia. Fortunately, he also did not hear anyone saying he was attractive. If he had heard this, he would have felt extremely awkward and he probably wouldn't have believed they were being truthful in the first place. Emile was the type of person who didn't think too much of himself. For one, he was a werewolf, and werewolves were not usually accepted in many places. Every full moon, he lost himself, and no one had seem him like that, yes, but he was still greatly insecure about himself and this usually caused him not to think compliments were very real statements. It was his mind telling him he would never be accepted or that he wasn't good enough. It was kind of a problem for someone who was as young as he was, but he hoped he would someday find a way to get through it and start seeing himself in a better light.
"And I'm Isabella Holland. You could call me Belle or Isabella. What ever you please." Emile heard Isabella say, and he immediately decided he would be calling her Belle. Belle was a lovely nickname, and it reminded him of that Muggle tale, Beauty and the Beast. Isabella did have the brown hair that Belle has, so he decided it would be a fitting nickname for her. "Oh, hold on. Let me right something down quickly." Emile said, taking out his leather notebook and his pencil. He scribbled at what looked to be the speed of light and his pencil kept on moving for one or two minutes, before he started to shake his hand a bit. It had gotten a bit sore from writing as much as he had. He put his pencil and notebook away, then looked back up to the two girls next to and in front of him.
In response to his question about it actually being her bookmark, Emile noticed Maisie seemed very confident. "Well, that bookmark is definitely mine because if you untie the ribbon, you can actually unfold the bookmark." During this moment, Maisie took the bookmark from Belle and demonstrated what she had said would happen. "And voila! These are polaroids of me as a child. Now, do you believe that this is my bookmark?" She said, showing the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor.
Emile nodded and smiled at her happily. "Yes! I definitely believe you now. It's nice you have those pictures. You look like a cute baby." Emile said, nodding at her. "Sorry if I came off as rude, I just didn't want any stealing." He pointed at the badge on his robes. (The prefect badge) "I just didn't want any stealing on school grounds. You seem like a lovely person, though." Emile said to Maisie, then looked at Isabella with a nod.
