Finally... Someone with some sense. Make that two.
Emily felt a little relieved when she heard two of the other students echo her own concerns. A much more realistic reaction than from the quote-on-quote "Prefect" from the older Slytherin student. Emily acknowledged one of them - whom she now knew as Cass - with a friendly nod.
"Emily. A pleasure," she said, as calmly as she could manage in spite of the circumstances.
The corridors had gotten unusually chilly. Perhaps it was her growing tiredness, the lingering throbbing of her earlier injuries or the adrenaline in her body still rippling through her but either way it was starting to make Emily more on edge than she was mere moments ago. She was more than happy to leave these students where they were if it meant she could return to the Hufflepuff Common Room and sleep off the night's events - if not forget them entirely. And thanks to Cass, that window of opportunity had arrived.
"I agree with you there," She said to them affirmatively. "As much as there's a lot to talk about, I'd rather not risk staying out here and getting caught. Not to mention that my body aches from being knocked flying from earlier. I'm going to head back and I suggest you lot do the same."
It was never like Emily to leave others so brashly like this but then again, there's only so much excitement the human body can take in a day. With a respectful nod and a short wave, Emily bid them all goodnight and farewell, heading back to the Hufflepuff dormitories with quick and quiet steps.
So much for a quick lap... Hopefully they'll be alright.

Ava allowed the younger students’ conversations continue through silence, trying to think of a way she could continue her little lie without being caught. The other people around her seemed to not believe her lie, and she frowned.
Before Ava could do anything, one of the girls gave a wave and left, and she silently released an angry breath.
"I am a prefect, and for you to even doubt that is a reason I won’t be letting you get away with this easily. If you don’t follow me for your detention, I will be reporting you, just as I will be reporting the girl who ran!" She explained, doing her best to sound convicting. If it came down to looks, maybe she could metamorph her hair and her face to convince them, but that amount of effort was almost impossible when Ava hadn’t seen Opeila enough. And when she had, those were times she didn’t want to think about.
"I was on a broom because it makes it easier to catch you if you run. And haven’t you wondered how I could afford a broom as nice as this? Prefect privileges." Actually, Ava had no idea if prefects earned money from their help, but if she didn’t know, these people probably didn’t either.
She clasped her hands together. "I think you’d rather just take the detention I’m offering than waiting for me to find another reason for a worse punishment."

Interacting with: @Ava Winchet @Cass Ito | Mentioning: @Emily Shephard
"Words" | "Thoughts"After she stopped talking Haime heard one of the first years introduce themself. Cass was apparently their name. "Good to know, I guess." Seemed like they wanted to stay up and continue this "party." Haime wouldn't mind that, while she considered Saturday night to be her quiet alone time. Would it really hurt to "spice it up" once in a while.
Then the other first year introduced herself. "Okay the female one is Emily, and the green one is Cass," Haime mentally noted. She stepped away to collect her thoughts for a second, when she focused back onto the conversation Emily seemed to have left. "Oh well, one down two to go."
"Hi, I'm Suzy," Haime said, introducing herself was the polite thing to do, but these students were definitely trouble-makers and there was no way she was stupid enough to give her real name. "It's nice to meet you." "Yeah, not," but that was the most appropriate phrase from her memorized small talk script.
The "prefect" was once again trying to sound in charge. "She can't be dumb enough to actually think she has control." Haime thought, a dim corridor on a first name basis, there was no way that girl could report them even if she was a prefect. Then Haime heard the "prefect" say something about being rich or whatever, not concerning.
Then the "prefect" said, "I think you’d rather just take the detention I’m offering than waiting for me to find another reason for a worse punishment."
Now this was getting fun. "Hmm," Haime said trying to sound dramatic, "I think I'd prefer the worse punishment. Sounds more fun, especially since I'm not going to bed anytime soon." Haime had always tried to follow rules, but rules are like barriers. Broken by one, bad. Broken by multiple, starts a movement. Maybe it was time to take a step out of her comfort zone.

Well. That was not what they meant at all. The shorter girl- Emily's abrupt decision that actually she wanted to go back to bed had surprised them. Why was she out here in the first place if she was just going to leave and give up that easy? Cass certainly was not. But a lifetime of their Pa's lessons and stories had taught them not to burn bridges just for the fun of it, so they just wrinkled their nose briefly and turned back to the others. It was her choice if she wanted to be boring anyway. They for one certainly thought there was more fun to be had tonight.
Unfortunately, the broom-rider who was definitely not a prefect kept pretending to be one. There wasn't a chance in a million that she was allowed to be riding a broom in the corridors either. Teachers were just boring like that and there was no way she would officially be allowed it. Which meant that she was up to something. If only they could persuade her to tell them what it was. "Yeah right" they said "No way they let prefects ride brooms everywhere". And no way they pay prefects either. Their father used to be one, they would have heard about it.
What kind of person would name their child Suzy? It had to be another fake name. What had initially been a fun sounding adventure sneaking around the corridors had turned into yet another dinner party type situation. Life would be so much easier if people just said what they meant. It was probably easiest for them to just play along with it for now. There wasn't a lot they could do if she didn't want to reveal her real name anyway. At least she didn't seem keen on just running off to bed.
"Just tell us what you were planning on doing" they said to not-ophelia "None of us are going to turn you in". Well. They wouldn't at least. This student who was pretending to be called Suzy was an unknown variable.

Ava tried to hide her frown. None of these students seemed convinced by her authority, and in the moment she felt bad for the younger prefects who had to deal with older students looking down on them. But that was their problem, not hers. Right now she had to ‘deal’ with these students.
"I have to practice my flying, so yeah, I got permission to ride around the corridors on this. Also, riding a broom makes it easier for me to catch up to any troublemakers that try to run." She explained, trying to come up with good reasons for riding the broom around. At least her reasons didn’t sound that far fetched.
"All I was planning on doing was my prefect duties," she explained, trying to sound grumpy. "I got assigned to patrol tonight, when I should be sleeping.
"You could turn me in, and nothing would happen. I’m a prefect, and I’m supposed to be doing this. What else am I supposed to be doing? Now, giving you a detention. So you better come with me, because you don’t have a choice." She instructed, and gave them all her most convincing ‘you’re in trouble’ look.
Hopefully, no prefect comes in to stop my charade…
