Reducio@Victoria Lena JonesRiver walked into the empty Library silently, most of the other Hogwarts students were either eating lunch in the Grand Hall or out on the grounds enjoying the warm summer sun. The young pureblood heiress would have joined the masses but felt that she needed a bit of space from the rest of the joyful crowds.
Her father's latest letter had informed her that he and her mother would be unable to contact her for a short while and most likely would not be able to send her her weekly letter on time next Saturday. The information was a little heartbreaking considering River had already been struggling with some pretty bad homesickness over the last few months. She had been with at least one of her parents every day for the first ten years of her life, before suddenly being restricted to a single letter every week. She loved hearing from her parents, of course, and the pastries they sent along were delicious, but that wasn't enough to fill the gaping hole in her chest.
River walked aimlessly down the halls of the Library before stopping short near one of the shorter bookshelves, one that was about 4 or maybe 5 meters tall, unlike most of the others that reached all the way to the ceiling of the expansive room. Idea in place and the need for peace growing, the small Slytherin girl quickly reached out and took a firm grip on one of the shelve. Thankful for her practice doing so at home and her light frame, she hastily climbed the bookshelf before seating herself comfortably at the top. She reached down and grabbed a random book that was placed at the top of the shelves.
Ensuring her skirt was in place and no one could see up it, she settled in book in her lap, An Astronomer's Guide to the Stars, and allowed herself to be immersed into the world of stars and constellations. She was completely unaware of the approaching footsteps that neared her little hideaway.

Tori walked into the empty library. Since she wasn't that hungry, she quickly ate lunch and came to that magical place where the books were. When June came and the weather started to warm up, no one wanted to stay inside, so Tori would go to the library whenever she wanted to be alone.
She was wandering around the library, careful not to hear anything coming from his bag. She was breaking the rules again. She also put her pet mouse, Vick, in her bag to bring to the library. Since there was no one in the library, only the librarian was at risk of catching her mouse.
While browsing through the shelves, she noticed a gap on a long shelf. She saw a girl sitting there reading a book. She thought it was a good hiding spot and started climbing, hoping the shelf would carry her.
She wouldn't climb very far, but he carefully and safely came to the girl's side, carefully put her bag down and sat down next to the girl. He saw that he was reading an astronomy book.
"Hello. Can I sit here? I don't want to get caught by the librarian. And I guess he can't last much longer."
Meanwhile, a small squealing sound comes from her bag.

Reducio@Victoria Lena JonesRiver had been immersed in her book when she heard shuffling beside her and suddenly a head of bright red hair came into view. The other girl placed a bag down beside her and River startled internally when she spoke, "Hello. Can I sit here? I don't want to get caught by the librarian. And I guess he can't last much longer." River didn't know who 'he' was, nor did she recognise the girl other than that she was a Ravenclaw and they had shared a few classes before.
The Slytherin watched with a mask of indifference as the girl opened her bag that had been emitting soft squeaking noises. The Slytherin perused her mental library of memories before finally coming across the memory of one of the professors calling on the redheaded girl, Victoria Jones.
River was a little upset that her peaceful quiet had been interrupted but she knew her mother would most definitely scold her if she wasn't at least polite, as would her etiquette instructor. Her impassive grey-blue eyes watched the other girl before she opened her mouth, her voice soft yet had a distinct unintentionally cold undertone, "Do as you please, I suppose." She looked at the bag and her voice softened further, much warmer this time, "I assume the squealing is from a pet of yours?" River would never deny meeting a new creature, familiar to her or not, and the prospect of meeting something new washed away her aching homesickness. But she knew the loneliness wouldn't be gone for long.

She was a little surprised by the girl's cold behavior. "Uhm did I do something to you? Uhm without knowing" She recognized the girl. They took a few classes together. It was River, the Slytherin girl. But they had never talked.
"Yes. I don't want the librarian to see it. I don't want to be detention again."
It came to her mind when she was detention. She didn't want this to happen again. She took her mouse, Vick, out of her bag and pointed it towards River. Vick twitched his nose slightly. Normally her bag was slightly open, but it was noticeable that Vick was relieved after leaving.
"This is my pet mouse, Vick. I hope you're not afraid of mouse. Don't worry, it won't do anything. You can pet it if you want."
She placed the mouse next to him and looked around the library. It had a very different atmosphere when viewed from above. I wonder if River always came here. She had to be a good climber then. She spoke in a friendly voice.
"It's a beautiful view. So, do you always climb the shelves? Although it's not just to see the view. Do you like climbing?"

Reducio@Victoria Lena JonesRiver winced at her rudeness when the girl asked if she had offended the Slytherin somehow, "No, my apologies for my rude behavior. I just didn't expect to be accompanied by someone up here." She straightened up her posture, well, as much as one can straighten their posture when sitting atop a bookshelf. She reached out a pale, dainty hand to the Ravenclaw girl, "River Luxley, Heiress to the Noble and Ancient House of Luxley. Well met." She looked down at the mouse before smiling gently, grey-blue eyes taking on a warm tone, "And a very well met to you as well Vick."
She had never seen a normal mouse before, except perhaps the ones fed to the kneazels back home on the estate but she supposed it would be better not to mention that to them. River lifted a finger and gave the small creature a few gentle pets on the head before he was placed down.
She watched the red headed girl observe the view they had of the library from their perch. She turned to face away, not wanting to be caught staring, and answer the question, "I agree about the view. I've only done this once or twice before, when I wanted to be alone away from the hubbub of the rest of the school, but it is something I would do back home. I wouldn't say I like climbing, but I do enjoy sitting high up with a good book or just observing everything around me."
River thought fondly of the small tree house her father had installed in one of the larger trees surrounding their manor that overlooked all of the magical creature habitats that her mother kept all her creatures in from when she was still researching them as a magizoologist.

"I can go if you want."
She could leave if he wanted. She didn't want to disturb anyone. Maybe she would want to continue reading books here alone.
"My name is Victoria Lena Jones. It's nice to meet you, as a half-blood and, according to my calculations, the third metamorphosis from maternal relatives."
Tori tried to introduce herself formally, just like the girl did. Formality wasn't really her thing, but she hoped she managed it.
"You're right too. Some people like solitude and silence. Some people want to be alone sometimes. But I've never had a friend climb on a shelf for this."
As she took out her own reading book from her bag, she felt her hand touch the box of bracelets she had made in the common room. When she received the box and opened it, he gave the bracelets to most of his friends, but he made bracelets suitable for their own buildings for the friends she had not met yet. When she looked at his mouse, she saw that it was also looking at the box. She took out the bracelet she had made for a Slytherin and handed it to the girl. It had a snake pattern in the middle and was lined with black and green beads respectively. It was tied with a black rope.
"I have a surprise for you. I know we haven't had a proper friendship yet, but this one is for you. When I noticed that you were proud and honored to be in Slytherin house, I realized that this was something that would suit you."[/color]
There was a friendly glint in her green eyes as he handed her the bracelet.

Reducio@Victoria Lena JonesRiver could tell as the girl introduced herself, Victoria Lena Jones, Half-blood and surprisingly a metamorphmagus, that the redhead wasn't quite used to introducing herself as formally as the pureblood Slytherin was. She wasn't too bothered by it, River herself wouldn't be as formal as she was if she hadn't known her etiquette instructor would go bonkers if she heard River greet someone she didn't know casually.
Dropping her cold mask slightly, she gave Victoria a small, encouraging smile. Especially when she spoke of understanding that others need a bit of quite solitude at times. It showed that the Ravenclaw had a good grasp on social situations and had a kind of empathy to her that showed she understood. River glanced curiously at the book Victoria pulled from her bag before being taken by surprise when the girl handed her a Slytherin themed bracelet, the blacks and greens perfectly matching the Slytherin's outfit. She smiled warmly, eyes a soft grey as she spoke, "Thank you. I'm not sure what I'd give your in return. I'd very much enjoy it if we could be friends, I haven't got many you see." Looking around herself curiously, River spotted the rings adorning her left hand.
Both were covered in Norse runes, paying homage to her ancestors' homeland before they came to the UK. She gently pried the one on her middle finger off before holding it out to the girl beside her, "Take this then. A memento to remind you of our newly made friendship."

"It's okay. I just felt like giving it to you. This really suits you. I hope it fits your wrist perfectly."
While making the bracelets, she made them by eye decision. That's why she didn't know if it would happen to River or not. She saw the girl take off one of the rings from her right hand and hand it to Tori. She was very happy. Her hair had turned blonde.
"It looks very beautiful, thank you very much. The embroidery on it looks very beautiful. We are friends now."
She tried not to raise his voice. There was still a risk that the librarian would catch them. She continued examining the ring in her hand. Then he put it on her middle finger and started examining it in her hand. Without thinking, she hugged River. She left when she thought River wouldn't like it.
"I'm sorry. I think I overreacted. Most of the time, I act without thinking."
Tori thought she might be hungry when Vick made a sound. She opened her bag and took out a box of cheese. She took a piece of cheese and gave it to Vick. She took out two packs of chocolates from her bag and handed one to River.
"Do you want chocolate?"

Reducio@Victoria Lena JonesWatching as Victoria slipped the gifted ring onto her middle finger, River felt a spark of happiness that she now had another friend here at Hogwarts. She wasn't used to interacting with people who weren't her parents of various tutors over the years, so it had been a bit of a struggle trying to navigate socialising with people her age. Of course, she had made a few acquaintances over the past few months, but it wasn't often that she made genuine friendships. The Slytherin hoped that this new friendship with Victoria wouldn't be a once-off thing.
She was surprised when the Ravenclaw girl leant towards her and engulfed her in a quick but comforting hug. River felt herself stiffen up at the contact, unfamiliar as it was, but found no time to relax into the embrace before the redhead pulled away again. She would almost think the moment part of a dream if she hadn't known that they were still firmly in reality.
She watched in silence, still a little stunned, as Victoria took out a small container of cheese to feed to a squeaking Vick. Once she was presented with a bag of chocolates, River shook herself out of her stupor and gratefully took the bag of offered sweets. "Thank you, I would love some chocolate. I'll offer you some of the pastries Father sends next Saturday...or well, the Saturday after that. He and Mother will be a bit too busy for our weekly letters this time, so I'll have to wait a bit longer." River said, disappointment lacing her words. She popped one of the pieces of chocolate into her mouth and smiled at the sweet but slightly bitter taste, "These are delightful, where did you get them?"
