The Owlery
After breakfast, Camden pushed through the crowd leaving the Great Hall. She'd been told there was an Owlery up here. And since she couldn't take Care of Magical Creatures class until she was a third year, she decided to come and see the owls. She entered a huge, open room that smelt of...owl droppings. And hay. Camden spun in a slow circle taking in her surroundings. There were owls. So. Many. Owls. Big owls. Small owls. Brown owls. White owls. Noisy owls. Quiet owls. Young owls. Old owls. So. Many. Owls.
Camden sighed. She hadn't been able to get a pet in Diagon Alley. And she wasn't allowed in Hogsmeade, either. She really needed a buddy. Even if they weren't human. Well, a magical human.
Camden looked around at all the owls again. She went up to a small, brown owl.
"Hello, mate," Camden whispered, stroking it's feathers with her finger. "Do you have an owner? Or are you a school owl?"
Someone cleared their throat from behind Camden. A tall, blond boy stood behind her, glaring.
"Clawfoot does have an owner," he said, shoving Camden aside and tying a letter to Clawfoot's...well, foot. "Me."
Camden backed up a bit. "I'm sorry...?" she said, waiting for the boy to tell her his name.
"Jacob," he said, still sneering at her. "And don't touch my owl again." He began to walk out of the owlery. Then he turned back. "What year are you anyway, girl?"
"Um, oh. I'm Camden Blair, and I'm a first year."
Jacob sneered at Camden again. "I'm a third year. And have you ever heard of Clark West?"
Camden shook her head. "No. I'm from Scotland."
"Ah. Well, he's my father, and he's big in England. See you around, Blair," Jacob said. It may sound as if he changed his tune and was being friendly, but he still had a jeering tone and stuck his tongue out at Camden as he left.
Camden rolled her eyes and continued petting the owls.

"Sometimes you have to do it. Whatever it is, do it. Unless the Weasley twins tell you to." -Camden Blair
